Summary
Synopsis:
Chi Wei, a second-generation heir and Beta who failed her secondary differentiation, fell from a 38-story building one summer at the age of twenty-four. Upon her death, she was reborn—only to discover that she had been living inside a book all along.
And she was nothing more than a bit-part extra.
However, Xuan Nian—the person Chi Wei missed dearly even in her final moments—was a significant “cannon fodder” supporting actress in the story.
The moment Xuan Nian died before her eyes was merely the catalyst for the fated romance of the story’s main leads.
Starting her life over, Chi Wei “finally” sees the elder sister she has yearned for through six hundred long days and nights. Without hesitation, she empties a glass of red wine over the “heroine’s” head.
The heroine, protected by eighteen layers of “protagonist halos,” immediately channels her inner white lotus—looking utterly wronged and ready to collapse. The heavyweights in attendance begin to condemn Chi Wei for using her status to bully others!
But Chi Wei, notorious for her bad reputation, slams her wine glass onto the ground: “You bully my fiancée and then have the nerve to play the victim?! Come on then—anyone speaking up for her, step forward so I can get a good look at you.”
The crowd is in an uproar.
A completely clueless Xuan Nian looks up in a daze: “Fi… fiancée?”
Later, Chi Wei’s goal of a successful engagement ceremony is finally achieved.
Looking at a tearful Chi Wei, Xuan Nian kisses the corners of her eyes with utmost tenderness: “Weiwei, don’t cry. It breaks my heart.”
