Synopsis:
[Lin Feiruo vs. Jian Xiyan | Ages 24 vs. 28 | HE (Happy Ending)]
Lin Feiruo, a Master’s student in Nutrition, was pushed to the breaking point by the grueling “996” (9 am–9 pm, 6 days a week) work schedule of her internship. While traveling, she followed a trend and made a wish: “Down with 996! I want a beautiful woman in my arms and an easy way to make big money.”
She was promptly transported into a melodramatic “dog-blood” wealthy-family novel.
In the book, the protagonist is also named Lin Feiruo, and her wife is the newly crowned richest woman, Jian Xiyan. Jian Xiyan is not only obscenely wealthy but so beautiful she leaves others no room to breathe. Unfortunately, on the day Lin Feiruo arrives, Jian Xiyan doesn’t hand her a blank check—she hands her a divorce settlement.
Lin Feiruo recalls the plot: Originally, Jian Xiyan needed a stable marriage to successfully inherit the family business and found the original Lin Feiruo for the job. Now, the two-year contract marriage is ending.
She also remembers another plot point—Jian Xiyan’s black-hearted uncle is planning to steal the family fortune. However, they currently seem to be on great terms, and Jian Xiyan wouldn’t believe her anyway.
To speak or not to speak? Lin Feiruo hesitates.
Lin Feiruo: “You…”
The corners of Jian Xiyan’s mouth lift slightly in a sneer: “I’ve transferred an extra two million to your account as compensation. Take it and go celebrate with your little lover.”
Oh, Lin Feiruo remembers now. Today is the original owner’s birthday. She was a total “simp” for a minor entertainment industry starlet named Yan Shan; she only agreed to the fake marriage to help Yan Shan buy roles.
Happily taking the “breakup fee,” Lin Feiruo moves out of the mansion, feeling her wish is coming true step by step—until Yan Shan tricks her into coming to a film set.
Lin Feiruo kindly advises her: “If you focus on honing your acting and improve your professional skills, you’ll have more options. You can’t become a good actor by always buying your way into roles.”
Yan Shan: “That’s not what you used to say! If you’ve had a change of heart, just say it!”
“Fine, I’ve had a change of heart.”
Lin Feiruo leaves without looking back. Yan Shan kicks the wall in a rage, unaware that the movie queen Jiang Wanru is standing in the shadows of the hallway, watching with a subtle smile.
Lin Feiruo plans to open a wellness center to be self-sufficient. During a training session, she hits it off with a medical lecturer, Yu Qingci.
Just then, Jian Xiyan is involved in a car accident and injures her legs. Since the divorce hasn’t been officially announced, Lin Feiruo is dragged back by the Jian family to care for the immobilized Jian Xiyan.
To her surprise, after two years of marriage, this is the closest they have ever been.
From her wheelchair, Jian Xiyan says coldly: “Work hard for three more months. Once my legs are healed, I’ll give you another three million as a reward.”
Lin Feiruo is beaming inside: “Well… you’re being too polite.”
Jian Xiyan never expected that after two peaceful years, her heart would be pried open in just three months by Lin Feiruo’s focused profile, her vast and interesting knowledge, and her gentle, careful care. Even her legs are feeling… weaker.
As Lin Feiruo’s birthday approaches, Jian Xiyan is still figuring out how to celebrate when she sees Jiang Wanru and Yu Qingci show up at the wellness center with exquisite gifts. To make matters worse, the popular streamer Ding Yike joins the crowd.
Seeing Lin Feiruo surrounded by admirers, President Jian—who has been complaining about “leg pain” lately—is so anxious she nearly jumps out of her seat…
