A Milky-Orange Scented Omega Became a Sensation via a Dating Show [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 6
“I’ll take you somewhere else! That place is super fun~”
“No need.” Pei Yi was deeply moved, and then she declined Zhong Lin’s invitation.
Inside the car on the way back, the atmosphere between the two had softened significantly—at least, that’s what Zhong Lin thought.
Zhong Lin had spent the entire day happily playing at Happy Valley, and the cameraman had captured many shots of her radiant, sweet smile. Now sitting in her seat, Zhong Lin’s excitement hadn’t faded. Her little mouth went “ba-ba-ba” as she chattered away to herself: “I played so many attractions today!”
“When I was on the Shoot the Chute, I met a male Alpha,” she continued. “He talked to me a lot. Halfway through, he thought the boat was reaching the station, so he ripped off his raincoat. Hah… who knew there was another big turn coming! There were so many people at the bottom of that drop with water guns~ That guy got soaked like a drowned quail. Hahahaha, everyone was laughing at him…”
Pei Yi’s face grew paler and paler. She raised her arm to create space between herself and Zhong Lin, rubbing her temples with her fingertip. Her voice sounded impatient: “Enough. Be quiet. I’m tired.”
Zhong Lin let out a surprised “Ah” and asked weakly, “But didn’t you rest for a long time today?”
Pei Yi: “…” Heh, my heart is so tired.
【 Hahahahahahaha, poor Yiyi was left to dry for the whole day!! 】
【 That last line ‘But didn’t you rest for a long time today?’ is a total critical hit hahahaha~ 】
【 The baby played so hard she completely forgot about the date hhhhhhh 】
【 Exactly, the baby’s smile today was the most brilliant in the universe, like a spring flower~~ 】
【 Speechless. Does Zhong Lin have any manners? She made my Yiyi wait all day! She’s literally crazy!! 】
The production crew had issued VIP passes, so there was no need to wait in line. Zhong Lin had played almost every attraction she wanted! Although she was a Baize cub, she was currently in a common human shell. Her legs felt weak, her head felt heavy, and fatigue washed over her like a tide.
So sleepy…
Zhong Lin couldn’t maintain her bolt-upright posture anymore. She leaned back into the seat, her long lashes trembling. Her eyes were misty with sleepiness, and her upper and lower eyelids were fighting a losing battle. Her chin nodded up and down like a little chick pecking at grain.
Being truly exhausted, Zhong Lin fell completely asleep.
She had a very eerie dream. A young girl in a white dress stood by a window. It was a floor-to-ceiling window, very close to the ground. The window was pushed wide open; the wind was strong, blowing the curtains back like rolling waves.
The girl’s skirt fluttered in the wind, outlining her slender waist. She was very thin, with almost no flesh on her bones; it felt as though a stronger gust of night wind would blow her apart. The girl looked down at the floor, thought for a moment, then looked up at the night sky. Her phone was dialing a number…
“Beep—The user you are calling is unavailable at the moment. Please try again later.”
Dialing again and again, no one answered the girl’s call. Then, a rustling sound—someone’s feet scraping the ground…
Thud— A dull sound of a heavy object hitting the ground.
Zhong Lin rushed to the balcony and looked down. A girl lay in a pool of blood, crimson stains at the corners of her eyes and mouth. She had the exact same features as Zhong Lin. A chill ran down her spine, and her heart felt hollow.
Zhong Lin frowned slightly. “Don’t…”
A light sneer came from above, sounding somewhat disdainful. “Don’t what?” A female voice floated down, sounding very familiar.
Zhong Lin shuddered and woke up instantly.
A light object was tossed onto her cheek. Zhong Lin reached up—it was a tissue. When her fingers touched her face, she felt a wet sensation. Wait… did I drool?
Pei Yi saw it… How embarrassing.
Zhong Lin hurriedly used Pei Yi’s tissue to wipe her face messily. As the tissue passed her nose, she caught a faint fragrance… it smelled sweet but a bit sharp, like a sweet white grape sparkling wine. Zhong Lin’s movements froze for a second. Her nose twitched as she quietly sniffed the scent on the tissue.
“Still not getting out?” Pei Yi unbuckled her seatbelt and gave her a cold, impatient glance. If she could, she’d love to just lock Zhong Lin in the car and never let her out! Today’s experience was truly terrible.
Pei Yi stepped out of the car, her heels clicking loudly on the ground. Zhong Lin followed her. This wasn’t the same place they had left this morning.
After the three days of random A/O dates, the guests had gained a preliminary understanding of each other. Thus, at the end of the third day, the destination of the vans was the villa area. The guests’ luggage had already been transported by the crew; they were leaving the initial filming base to move into a shared villa.
A white fence surrounded the large detached villa. Roses in the yard were in full bloom, and a swing set in the garden swayed as if someone had just been sitting on it. Putting a group of Alphas and Omegas together—men and women—under a rule that supported any gender combination made the place feel full of “freedom”… but in reality, it was like a battle royale.
The horn of war had sounded; “dog food” (romance) and “crematoriums” (drama) were just ahead. But as a Baize cub, Zhong Lin didn’t understand what this meant. Moving house was just moving house… as long as there was good food and fun stuff!
“Alpha guests live on the first floor; Omega guests live on the second.”
“We will now draw lots. Alphas draw from the pink box on the left, Omegas from the white box on the right.”
Zhong Lin reached in and drew room number 201. There were a few lines of small print at the bottom of the card:
—Show the vibrant colors of your original life. I wish you find your beloved ‘Ta’~
—Note: 1. You must return to the villa every night. You can request leave for work conflicts. 2. Exchanging contact info is prohibited. 3. Avoid using phones on camera. 4. No confessions before the ‘Final Pick’. 5. An anonymous letter must be sent every night (one per guest).
“Everyone can check their rooms first, then go to individual interviews,” a staff member said, pointing to a small room in the first-floor living room serving as the “Solo Interview Room.”
Pei Yi entered the interview room first. Seeing the youngest Best Actress—the biggest star and traffic draw for the show—the director smiled like a sunflower. “Briefly introduce yourself, your wishes for being here, and your preferred type.”
Pei Yi nodded. The director felt very at ease with her. She was a pro. But after recording started…
“Hello everyone, I am Pei Yi. It is a great honor to meet everyone here and I am happy to receive the invitation for 31-Day Heartbeat Challenge. I hope that through this program, I can get what I desire and make my dreams come true.”
Then came a sudden silence. One minute passed. Two minutes.
The director’s smile froze. His tone was shocked: “That’s it??”
Pei Yi nodded slightly: “I’ve finished.”
The director nudged: “Can you be specific? What do you desire? What type of person do you specifically like?”
“I don’t want to say,” Pei Yi said coldly. “That is personal privacy.”
Direct and to the point. The director could only purse his lips and silently retract his earlier praise. He handed over an iPad. “Heartbeat Initial Pick: Choose your favorite Omega guest.”
The screen showed photos of the three Omegas. Pei Yi’s gaze swept over the others and stopped on the one on the far left. The girl’s makeup was incredibly heavy, her false lashes were exaggerated, and her eyeshadow had large patches of unblended blue glitter—as if she were about to perform in a stage play.
It was the “former” Zhong Lin.
Pei Yi’s lips curled involuntarily. She let out a soft laugh that was barely more than a breath. What is this… you can’t tell at all that this is the same person as today’s Zhong Lin.
Tch. So I only saw Zhong Lin’s true face today. Zhong Lin’s stylist really deserved to be fired. (She didn’t know that an 18th-tier flop like Zhong Lin didn’t even have a stylist).
“Hurry up and choose,” the director said. The countdown on the screen ticked away.
Pei Yi frowned and sighed, “It’s so hard to choose.”
She hovered her finger near the screen, moving slowly from left to right—until the countdown ended and the button turned gray. Only then did she let out a soft “Eh?” of realization. “Why did this suddenly turn gray?”
Director: “…” (Please continue your performance.)
Pei Yi handed back the iPad with a slight, embarrassed shake of her head. “What a pity. I didn’t manage to choose within the time limit.”
A pity? She was faking it. It was just the first task; Pei Yi didn’t need to choose anyone. During the three days of dates, she hadn’t felt any spark—except for today. Today, she felt an intense emotion completely different from the previous days.
This brat Zhong Lin had finally successfully caught her attention. And she really wasn’t angry. (╬ ̄皿 ̄)
The door to the interview room opened. Pei Yi adjusted her white blazer and stepped out. “Teacher Zhong, come over here, the last one just finished,” a staff member called.
Zhong Lin walked toward her, her off-the-shoulder shirt highlighting her slender frame. The hallway was narrow. Zhong Lin froze for a second, not expecting the previous person to be Pei Yi. She stepped to her left to give Pei Yi space. Coincidentally, Pei Yi had the same thought and stepped to her right—which was the same side.
Zhong Lin was walking fast with her head down and didn’t notice. As they passed, her shoulder lightly brushed Pei Yi’s arm. Her heart fluttered with panic, and she looked up timidly at Pei Yi.
The high-pressure atmosphere from the car ride seemed to have returned. Zhong Lin was an Omega; she wasn’t short for an Omega, but she was half a shoulder shorter than Pei Yi.
Black flat shoes stopped in front of her. Pei Yi’s dark eyes were slightly narrowed, her gaze as cold as frost. She tilted her head slightly toward Zhong Lin, closing the distance by just one centimeter.
“Choose carefully,” the female voice whispered, low enough that only the two of them could hear.
Zhong Lin felt Pei Yi’s breath on her ear—warm, carrying that faint scent of sweet white grape sparkling wine. The heat climbed up Zhong Lin’s ear, and her dainty earlobe gradually turned red.
What a familiar smell? Pei Yi’s voice floated over from above like a casual greeting, but with a distinct hint of a threat.
