A OO Love After Officially Announcing with the Best Actress - Chapter 6
Lin Ke placed her phone squarely on the coffee table in front of her, nervously biting her fingernails.
She was terrified that Lin Bingran would expose the truth that she wasn’t actually a “rich second generation.”
Ten minutes had passed since she sent the message, yet there was still no reply from Lin Bingran.
Lin Ke grew increasingly panicked, rubbing her legs which had gone numb from sitting in a kneeling position. The phone screen dimmed, then suddenly lit up again.
Lin Ke snatched it up, only to find it was a message from Lu Tu. Her interest instantly deflated.
Opening it, she saw Lu Tu had sent over a dozen exclamation marks!
Lu Tu: “Lin Bingran’s studio issued a lawyer’s letter! They’re suing those haters who started rumors about her filming Category III movies! I heard more are on the way!”
Lin Ke suddenly gripped her phone tight, her palms drenched in sweat.
Lu Tu sighed: “You really have to treat Lin Bingran better. Sucking up properly and clinging to her thigh is a must… with this ‘sue as soon as they speak’ attitude of hers…”
Lu Tu lowered her voice, sounding like a ghostly voice from The Ring, whispering ominously: “You are her big hater, you know. Millions of followers. And in the industry, you’re the first person who dared to publicly ‘like’ the Best Actress’s black material.”
Lin Ke’s heart jumped into her throat. She tapped back into the chat box with the “Great Demon King.” There was still no reply. Lin Ke scrutinized her own sent message, reading it twice, and sensed a faint tone of intimidation in it.
Lin Ke pulled out the script to do her homework. She read it while sitting, read it while standing, and paced back and forth, wrinkling and tearing the page, but she couldn’t take in a single word.
Feeling listless, Lin Ke tapped her phone, typing and deleting in the chat box over and over.
Finally, she scrambled up to raid the suite’s refrigerator.
High-calorie foods were strictly forbidden. All she could eat was low-fat toast and two avocados.
In the middle of the night, surely she wasn’t expected to cook a breakfast to deliver?
Lin Ke racked her brain, searching the hotel room up and down. She found a large Asian pear, a big apple, and a box of strawberries.
Which one did Lin Bingran like?
Lin Ke thought about it but couldn’t come up with an answer. She simply gathered them all in her arms and headed straight for Room 601, where she began to knock.
Lin Bingran was eating her late-night snack. Red oil clung to her lips, leaving a thin, glossy layer. She didn’t care at all. Shen Feng’s talk was long, dense, and incessant. She listened while eating her dumplings.
She had wandered around the city for half an hour wearing a mask and finally found a shop about to close. She ordered twenty dumplings—half steamed, half fried—and was eating happily, her mouth full of fragrance.
Shen Feng heard the crisp sound of the fried dumplings. “You’re sneaking food again?”
Lin Bingran gave a hum of affirmation, finished a fried one, and stuffed a steamed one in.
Shen Feng felt helpless: “You really can eat.”
Amidst the teasing, the door was knocked.
Hearing it, Shen Feng asked: “Is your assistant here? Hurry and hide the food!”
Lin Bingran put the takeaway box in the fridge, got up to open the window first, and finally moved at a leisurely pace to twist open the door.
Lin Ke stood at 162cm, half a head shorter than her. Right now, she was tilting her head back, her smile pure and innocent, cradling a pear, an apple, and a box of strawberries.
“Teacher Lin.” Her voice sounded like it was soaked in honey.
Lin Bingran pulled the door open, her arm holding it only twenty centimeters wide—a defensive posture used against people she wasn’t close with. She asked: “Is something the matter?”
Lin Ke’s smile widened, fawning like a little fox. “I saw you brought back dumplings, so you must be hungry. I don’t mean anything else, I just wanted to say, if you’re hungry, I have some fruit here. Would you like some?”
Lin Bingran gave an “Mhm,” feeling amused inwardly. The “little hater” comes to curry favor after making a threat?
“I’m not hungry.”
“Wait!” Lin Ke stuck a foot out to block the door and let out a yelp of pain.
Lin Bingran had no choice but to pull the door open again, looking at her with interest.
Lin Ke had tears in her eyes as she squeezed out a “laughing-while-crying” expression, starting to profess her sincerity. “Teacher Lin, I really am your fan…”
Lin Bingran looked at her, thought for a moment, and took the box of strawberries. Then she paused and took the large pear. Finally, without even thinking, she confiscated the apple as well.
Lin Ke: “…”
Lin Bingran thought of the fruit salad. Since one shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds them, she said: “Stop doing these pointless things. Just focus on acting your scenes well.”
Lin Ke nearly wept with joy.
Lin Bingran couldn’t let someone stay too comfortable. After confiscating the snacks, she looked at the “little hater” with a hint of mischief. “Since you’re in Shen Feng’s crew, for the sake of the movie, I won’t do anything to you for the time being.”
Bang!
The door was shut with a merciless thud.
Lin Ke stood at the door, left in a daze. Her death sentence had been commuted to a suspended one; she had an indescribable feeling in her heart.
Shen Feng had no self-awareness; the call hadn’t been hung up. Hearing the footsteps approach, she joked: “Why do I feel like the voice at the door sounded a bit like our female lead?”
The footsteps moved away again. Lin Bingran went to wash the strawberries and then slowly drifted back, sitting cross-legged and eating them one by one.
“She came to deliver food,” Lin Bingran said.
Shen Feng clicked her tongue: “She really is your fan. She just moved in and already came to suck up.”
Lin Bingran knew exactly what Lin Ke meant. She had emphasized twice that she was a fan, which was nothing more than her realizing she’d spoken out of turn and coming to apologize.
Thus, she didn’t feel at all guilty about keeping the food. She ate with a clear conscience, even thinking that Lin Ke had proactively asked if she wanted that fruit salad earlier today too, hadn’t she?
Shen Feng started talking about business again—discussing the scenes and the current state of the film industry. After a long ramble, she realized Lin Bingran was still eating.
“Are you a pig?”
“She must be a pig!” Lin Ke thought resentfully, slapping the refrigerator door. Not even a drop of water was left in the fridge!
Thinking back to Lin Bingran—even after removing her makeup, her skin was still very good. There were none of the bloodless or unhealthy side effects that usually come from wearing makeup for long periods.
On the contrary… she looked soft and fluffy. Once she changed into cotton pajamas, her aura weakened significantly.
As fellow Omegas, neither she nor Lin Bingran was particularly tall. Lin Bingran was a bit taller than her; her Baidu height was 168cm. She could be paired with a 175cm Alpha, or an 180cm male Alpha if she wore heels. She had “CP chemistry” with anyone.
Her height probably wasn’t a lie. And she loved to eat? Then why wasn’t she getting fat?
Lin Ke fell asleep amidst her wild thoughts. Before bed, she propped her eyes open to send a message to the “Great Demon King.” After an agonizing three-minute wait, Lin Bingran remained as cold and aloof as ever, not replying.
“This person has no manners at all!” Lin Ke punched the bed in anger, flipped over, and buried herself in the blankets to sleep.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Bingran got up to tidy the mess on the table. She found a place to hide the trash, planning to sneak it out tomorrow morning.
She couldn’t let Guo Rongrong find it; she’d be lectured for two hours just for eating an extra slice of watermelon. If she were caught eating twenty dumplings, she’d definitely be lectured for a week.
The “little hater” sent a message. Lin Bingran picked up her phone to look.
Little Hater: “Teacher Lin, are you satisfied with the food?”
Asking about the food on the surface, but asking about something deeper in reality.
The corners of Lin Bingran’s mouth twitched slightly. Her image as someone who hated haters must be deeply ingrained in people’s minds.
By the time she put down the phone to sleep, it was already midnight. She had to catch a call time early tomorrow morning. Even a Best Actress wanted to go on strike.
The next day, Lu Tu came knocking at six. Lin Ke’s beautiful hair had turned into a bird’s nest in her sleep as she pulled the door open, looking completely unkempt.
Lin Ke’s gaze bypassed Lu Tu. At a glance, she spotted the tightly closed door of 601 and its gold-stamped room plate.
Her consciousness returned; half the sleepiness fled.
Bang!
Lu Tu: “…”
Lu Tu’s nose was nearly flattened. She pounded on the door: “Are you having a fit?!”
Ten minutes later, Lin Ke was properly groomed and reopened the door. Lu Tu slipped inside, closed the door, and said, “What is wrong with you?!”
Lin Ke didn’t dare tell her that she had offended Lin Bingran last night. Scratching her head, she said, “Nothing. Why so early again today?”
Lu Tu opened her phone to check the filming notice sent by the production office last night. “Hurry and pack. We leave in half an hour. Some of Lin Bingran’s fans are coming to the set today. We should head out early to avoid any extremist fans coming to cause trouble.”
Lin Ke was speechless, frantically spraying scent blocker. “Only the third day on set and there are already visiting fans.”
Lu Tu teased: “As expected of green plum-scented pheromones—so sour!”
Lin Ke: “…”
Lu Tu: “How much longer are you going to spray?”
Lin Ke raised her hand to sniff her wrist and said, “Last night… someone told me to keep my scent tucked away. I’ll spray a bit more.”
Lu Tu was shocked: “Someone smelled your pheromones? Was it an Alpha?! Did they have malicious intentions toward you?!”
Lin Ke pursed her lips: “That’s unlikely…”
After ten minutes of packing and still spraying scent blocker, Lu Tu couldn’t wait any longer. she went down first to pull the car out, telling Lin Ke to come down as soon as she was done.
Finally, having sprayed until there wasn’t a hint of scent left, Lin Ke twisted the door open. At that exact moment, Lin Bingran from 601 across the hall also opened her door.
Lin Bingran was carrying two bags of trash with her phone tucked against her ear. Her gaze swept casually over Lin Ke and moved away with little interest.
Lin Ke: “…”
Lin Bingran: “Mhm, you don’t need to come up. I’m coming down now.”
Guo Rongrong said righteously: “That won’t do! I’m coming up to get you. Just wait in the room for me. I need to check if you snuck any food last night!”
The trash Lin Bingran was holding was exactly the evidence of her crime. She looked left and right, scanning the entire hallway, but couldn’t see a single trash can.
Lin Ke moved gently, turning to close her door. She inserted the key into the lock, twisting it back and forth, her ears perked up high.
Lin Bingran sighed helplessly and asked her assistant: “Where are you?”
Guo Rongrong knew something was up as soon as she heard that. Her volume rose sharply. “You definitely snuck food! I’m already in the elevator. The enemy will reach the battlefield in five seconds!”
Lin Ke pressed her lips together tightly. To suppress her laughter, her cheeks puffed out. Suddenly her shoulder was poked. She jumped in fright and instinctively turned around.
The elevator in the hallway chimed ding. Lin Bingran was quick-eyed and nimble-handed; she stuffed the trash into Lin Ke’s hands.
Guo Rongrong appeared from around the corner and saw two figures facing off in the hallway—one a tiny bit taller, one a tiny bit shorter.
The tall one was her own artist; the short one was the shameless hater riding the hype.
Guo Rongrong snorted, her nose in the air as she walked over, saying sarcastically: “Sister, shall I arrange for a room change for you?”
Lin Bingran shook her head: “It’s nothing. A little fan just came to say hello before heading out.”
The “little fan,” Lin Ke, watched in bewilderment as Lin Bingran’s retreating back disappeared and the door to 601 was shut again. She looked down at the trash in her hands—it was all the leftovers from her feeding session last night.
Damn it… nobody said I had to handle the after-sales service too!
“Eating this much? Don’t choke!” Lu Tu said crossly. As soon as Lin Ke got downstairs, she was stopped. She hadn’t even had time to throw the trash away before Lu Tu’s sharp eyes spotted it and snatched it away.
Even after getting into the van, Lu Tu was still inspecting the trash bag.
“What is this?” Lu Tu held up an overnight packaging box and sniffed. “Smells like dumplings. And freaking cabbage and pork filling?!”
“How many did you eat?” Lu Tu asked.
Lin Ke was holding two pieces of toast with eggs. Her cheeks were puffed out as she chewed rapidly, mumbling: “Two, I guess.”
Lu Tu: “Do I look like I believe you? Would they even sell just two to someone?”
Lin Ke: “…”
Lu Tu: “And you even ate my strawberries!!”
Lin Ke got angry too; she hadn’t even gotten to eat a single one. “…So what if I ate a few of your strawberries?!”
Lu Tu: “And apple peels too. Damn, are you a pig?”
Lin Ke: “…Damn it, I’m the scapegoat!”
Was Lin Bingran sent by the heavens just to torture her?!
After breakfast, Lin Ke told Lu Tu about the new resident across the hall.
Lu Tu thought about it and said: “It’s fine. Don’t be nervous. Just try to avoid each other when going to and from work. But if you do see her, you must greet her, got it?”
Lin Ke secretly rolled her eyes. It hadn’t even been a day and they’d seen each other three times already!
She tapped into her phone. The Great Demon King actually replied?!
Lin Bingran: “Barely satisfied.”
Lin Ke: “…”
