A Paranoid Alpha Childhood Friend is Acting Spoiled Again - Chapter 10
Originally, the situation could have been resolved if Mrs. Wang had simply lowered her head and made her precious son apologize. Nuo Fanxi was just a child, after all; she would have been easy to appease with a few kind words. But Mrs. Wang insisted on courting disaster. Not only did she refuse to admit her son was wrong, she turned around and accused Nuo Fanxi of being a delinquent child who exaggerated the facts. Who could possibly tolerate that?
No one. Tang Mo turned around and called Bai Xiaozhu immediately.
Bai Xiaozhu had wanted to kick Mrs. Wang out for a long time but lacked a proper excuse. Now that this had happened, she was more delighted than angry. She had Tang Mo hand the phone to the butler and, without showing a shred of mercy, ordered him to throw them out.
Naturally, this caused dissatisfaction among the extended family members who backed Mrs. Wang. Almost as soon as the mother and son were kicked out, the phones of Tang Guanqing and Bai Xiaozhu began to ring. Others might not have known who Nuo Fanxi was, but the older generation of the Tang family were lifelong friends with the Nuo family. Combined with the fact that Tao Wanqing and Bai Xiaozhu were best friends who visited each other constantly, everyone in the Tang family knew exactly whose child Nuo Fanxi was.
The conflict was clear: “For the sake of your guest, you threw my guest out in front of everyone—where does that leave my dignity? Do you even respect me as a brother?”
Because of this, Tang Mo’s third uncle had a massive shouting match over the phone with Tang Guanqing and Bai Xiaozhu. Even so, Bai Xiaozhu didn’t budge. Jokes and scuffles between children were one thing—even a fistfight was acceptable—but Mrs. Wang, as an adult, had acted as an accomplice instead of educating her child when he was clearly in the wrong. That was what Bai Xiaozhu could not tolerate.
While the adults argued, Nuo Fanxi and Tang Mo were completely unaffected. They went about their business, especially Nuo Fanxi. Despite being pushed by Zitao, hurting her bottom, and being slandered by Mrs. Wang, it didn’t affect her appetite at all; she ate with great gusto.
Tang Mo watched her in confusion and asked, “Xixi, they treated you like that. Aren’t you angry at all?”
Nuo Fanxi picked up a steamed dumpling, took a huge bite, and mumbled while chewing, “I was really angry when that bad Auntie scolded my Mommy and Daddy, but now that she and her kid are gone, I’m happy! So there’s nothing to be angry about!”
“Really?”
“Of course!”
Tang Mo was actually angrier than Nuo Fanxi. When she saw Zitao push her friend, she had originally wanted to go over and bite him. But Zitao clearly had terrible hygiene—he grabbed food with his hands and wiped them on his clothes instead of washing them. She worried about how many bacteria she’d get in her mouth if she bit him.
After much internal debate, Tang Mo had chosen to shove him instead, but unfortunately, Zitao was too big for her to move.
“Momo, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you eating?” Nuo Fanxi placed a shrimp dumpling on Tang Mo’s plate. “I’m fine, so don’t be sad. Besides, Godmother Xiaozhu stood up for me. We won’t have to see them again, so we should be happy.”
Hearing this, Tang Mo nodded vigorously. “Mmh!”
After lunch, the two rested in the bedroom for half an hour. In the afternoon, Tang Mo continued her piano lesson with the tutor. Nuo Fanxi stayed by her side. Although she still got sleepy halfway through, she was much better than in the morning; she lasted over two hours before she finally couldn’t take it and started reading one of the storybooks Tang Mo had bought.
When night fell and the tutor finally left, Tang Mo could finally relax. Nuo Fanxi gleefully tossed the storybook aside and pulled Tang Mo to the adjacent toy room.
This was a room Bai Xiaozhu had specially prepared for Tang Mo, filled with dolls, superheroes, giant building blocks, and bubble machines. It was a literal paradise for children.
“Momo, let’s build blocks together!”
Nuo Fanxi loved puzzles and models; she didn’t have much interest in anything else. Tang Mo had originally wanted to play “house” with her dolls, but since Nuo Fanxi wasn’t interested and playing alone was boring, she gave up on the idea.
“Xixi,” Tang Mo called out softly.
Nuo Fanxi looked up from her blocks and blinked. “What’s up? Do you not like playing this? What do you want to play? We can do it together.”
Tang Mo shook her head. “No, I like it. I just wanted to ask… Xixi, are you excited for primary school?”
They were five now, and in a month, they would turn six and move up to primary school. More subjects and homework meant even less time to play. Tang Mo didn’t like that.
Bai Xiaozhu had recently told her that once primary school started, her schedule would be packed with extra courses. Piano would continue, but there would be additional interest classes. Tang Mo was already struggling with piano; the thought of more classes made her miserable.
“I am!” Nuo Fanxi said with a smile. “Once we’re in primary school, we won’t be ‘little kids’ anymore; we’ll be ‘big kids.’ We can do things little kids aren’t allowed to do. And Teacher Li said that in primary school, the teachers organize field trips! We can bring our favorite snacks and go out with the other big kids! Don’t you want to go?”
Tang Mo lowered her head, her face clearly unhappy. She murmured, “Mommy said that when I start school, she’ll find more teachers to teach me other things. Then I won’t be able to play with you as often, Xixi.”
Right now, it was just piano, leaving some time for Nuo Fanxi. But if she had “lots and lots” of teachers, her play sessions would vanish. Tang Mo hated it. It was exhausting, and her mother would criticize her if she didn’t do well.
“It’s okay, Momo!” Nuo Fanxi stood up, walked around the blocks, and patted Tang Mo’s shoulder. “If you can’t come play with me, I’ll just come play with you! Besides, Godmother already promised me that as long as I want to see you, I can come anytime. So don’t worry about it!”
“Really?!”
“Of course!”
Tang Mo’s sad expression finally softened, and she immediately threw herself into Nuo Fanxi’s arms. “Xixi is the best!”
In the blink of an eye, a month passed, and September arrived.
This was the enrollment period for primary schools in City B. All parents were busy with preparations. Those with local household registration (hukou) had it easier, as they didn’t need to scramble for connections and could simply register.
Both the Nuo and Tang families had local registration, so they weren’t worried. However, to ensure they didn’t miss out on the best classes, Tao Wanqing and Nuo Lin went to see the teachers on the second day.
Originally, Bai Xiaozhu had planned to send Tang Mo to a private school invested in by Tang Guanqing, which boasted elite teachers and concentrated resources. But Tang Mo threw a tantrum for days, even losing her appetite. she refused to go unless Nuo Fanxi went too; if her mother didn’t agree, she wouldn’t study anything at all.
Forced into a corner, Bai Xiaozhu gave in. She checked which class Tao Wanqing had enrolled Nuo Fanxi in. Although the class was technically full, “money makes the mare go,” and the school found it impossible to refuse a request from such a family. They added an extra seat to that class.
And so, Tang Mo and Nuo Fanxi remained in the same class for primary school.
Before the term started, the school conducted a unified test to determine the children’s gender identities—mainly for administrative purposes and to prepare for any sudden biological changes.
The development of Alphas, Omegas, and Betas occurs in three stages. At age six, they undergo their first transformation, though this is a “pseudo-transformation”—it is only temporary.
When Tao Wanqing and Bai Xiaozhu were pregnant, their initial plan was this: If both were Alphas, they’d be sisters; if both Omegas, sisters. If one was an Alpha and the other an Omega, they’d be betrothed.
But they later reconsidered. If the genders were the same and they were “just” sisters, it would be a waste of a perfect match! They shared a specific goal: “don’t let the fertile water flow into someone else’s field.” Since the girls were growing up together and had a strong bond, they decided that even if pheromone repulsion occurred later, they would find a way to solve it.
They shook hands on it: no matter what happened, they would become in-laws. Of course, they secretly hoped for one Alpha and one Omega. Both mothers were Omegas and knew how agonizing a heat cycle could be without a complementary pheromone.
Unexpectedly, their biggest fear came true.
The school test results were in: Both Nuo Fanxi and Tang Mo were Alphas.
Bai Xiaozhu and Tao Wanqing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. But that wasn’t the biggest problem. The real issue was: if they were the same gender, the question of who would be the “groom” and who would be the “bride” became much more important!
“Zhuzhu,” Tao Wanqing said, using a nickname, “I’ve yielded to you so many times in the past. It wouldn’t be too much to ask for Momo to call me ‘Mother-in-law’ later, would it?”
“My dear,” Bai Xiaozhu replied calmly, looking over her files, “that wasn’t you ‘yielding.’ That was you giving up because you knew you had no chance of winning.”
Tao Wanqing’s lip twitched. “Evidence?”
Bai Xiaozhu asked slowly, “Dear, have you ever won a school-wide scholarship?”
Tao Wanqing: “…” Touché!
