A Real Heiress Quits (GL) - Chapter 11
Today was Saturday. Logically, there was no school, but there was tutoring.
The tutoring location was also within the villa district. When the driver dropped off the two “young misses,” there was still half an hour before the official start of class.
Yu Xinyue bit the end of her pen, her eyes fixed on her musical score, appearing completely indifferent to her surroundings.
In Jianghan leaned over. “Still haven’t finished your song?” Her tone was thick with ridicule and mockery.
Not studying properly all day and making these useless tunes—what’s the point? Music? Can music put food on the table?
Yu Xinyue ignored her.
In Jianghan gave her a push. “Hey, speak up!” Her movements were anything but polite. This Miss Yin only maintained her dignified manners in front of others.
The pen tip tore through the score, leaving a long, jagged line across the white paper.
Yu Xinyue grabbed her wrist, applying pressure. Within moments, In Jianghan began to shriek—
“Ow, ow, ow! Are you a pig? Let go! Let go of me!”
Yu Xinyue smiled faintly. “The music is finished. I’m thinking of the lyrics now.”
In Jianghan rubbed her reddened wrist, cursing Xinyue in her heart. This bumpkin has no sense of restraint or manners… But she thought: Better she stays this way forever; that way, no one will ever like her.
Hearing Xinyue’s words, In Jianghan was momentarily stunned. “You actually came up with a tune? You didn’t just copy it from somewhere, did you?”
Yu Xinyue looked at her, her glass-like eyes shimmering with a light that was both calm and gentle. Her striking beauty was overwhelming at close range. In Jianghan was momentarily dazed, but quickly frowned. “Why aren’t you wearing makeup today?”
Intentionally putting on this act… what is she trying to prove?
Yu Xinyue smiled slightly, dodging the topic. “Hanhan, this song… I wrote it specifically for you.”
“Huh?” In Jianghan froze, not reacting at all.
Yu Xinyue rested her chin on her pen, smiling as she spoke slowly. “I’m in the Yin family because of you.”
Because of you, I saw the true faces of everyone around me. After suffering to the point of wanting to die, I finally woke up.
“The way you’ve treated me… even if another twenty years pass, I won’t be able to forget it.”
More than twenty years—she would never forget how In Jianghan stole her song and then threw dirty water back at her, leaving her to be mocked by her family and classmates. She would never forget the despair and helplessness of standing alone in the torrential rain.
Therefore, she was preparing a gift for her.
“So,” Yu Xinyue tilted her head, her gaze sincere and her smile radiant as a flower. “I want to dedicate my first song to you. Is that okay?”
In Jianghan’s eyes widened. “To… to me?”
Is this fool really unable to tell that I hate her?
Yu Xinyue laughed. “Of course. Once I finish the lyrics, I’ll sing it for you, okay?”
In Jianghan felt a slight touch of emotion, but mostly, she just felt the girl in front of her was stupid beyond cure. “Have you thought of a title yet?”
Yu Xinyue’s eyes dimmed slightly. “I thought of it last night. It’s called Qing Qing.”
“Qing Qing?” In Jianghan frowned, thinking dismissively: What a tacky title, as tacky as the bumpkin herself.
But Yu Xinyue’s current behavior was “normal”—normal enough to make In Jianghan wonder if the events in the car that night had just been a hallucination.
Yu Xinyue crinkled her eyes, playing the “sweet but dumb” role to perfection. “Oh well~ I’ll think about it slowly. You go ahead and get out of the car.”
In Jianghan didn’t want to stay cooped up in the car either. Just as she opened the door, she was called back.
“Hanhan,” the girl’s eyes were moist, her expression serious. “This is my life’s work. You must remember it!”
In Jianghan nodded perfunctorily. “Yeah, yeah, fine.”
Just a song, it’s not like it’s anything valuable. She turned away disdainfully, failing to notice the upward curve of the girl’s lips.
Yu Xinyue lowered her head, staring at the score, the smile on her face widening. Even if she forgot, it didn’t matter. She would make sure In Jianghan remembered—ideally, for the rest of her life.
In Jianghan walked upstairs with familiar ease. The second room on the turn was their tutoring class. The teacher offered “private kitchen” style lessons here—small group instruction with a naturally high price tag.
Most of the students had arrived and were gathered around the long table, playing around. As soon as In Jianghan walked in, Jin Xue shouted, “The Sister-in-law is here!”
“Good morning, Sister-in-law!”
In Jianghan and Shu Ziyu were childhood sweethearts and had been engaged since they were young. Everyone knew this and constantly teased In Jianghan by calling her “Sister-in-law.”
The only flaw in the picture was the “adopted daughter” who had suddenly popped up in the Yin family and always tried to wedge herself into their relationship. That “ugly freak” didn’t stop to think: she was illegitimate and unofficial, so how could she compare to the proper Yin daughter? She had zero self-awareness, always hovering around Shu Ziyu. She was truly dreaming!
Jin Xue was the first to notice In Jianghan had entered alone. He shouted, “Sister-in-law, where’s that little tail that usually follows you?”
“Yeah, how come she didn’t come today?”
Ying Hua said with a grin, “Better if she never comes. My eyes hurt just looking at her.”
“Hahaha, truly an eyesore.”
Thinking of the girl’s exaggerated makeup, the group burst into laughter, mocking her with various insults.
In Jianghan’s expression brightened slightly as she sat down next to Shu Ziyu, placing the milk she was carrying on his desk. This move elicited another round of hooting. In this class of about ten people, almost everyone was a follower of In Jianghan or Shu Ziyu, and they collectively ostracized Yu Xinyue.
The boisterous laughter woke a teenage boy who had been sleeping face-down on the table. He lifted his head. He had single eyelids, thin lips, and the corners of his eyes tilted upward slightly. Looking a bit groggy and impatient, he asked, “What’s everyone laughing at?”
“Brother Shu, that ugly freak didn’t come to class today. You can breathe a sigh of relief.”
Jin Xue had always targeted Yu Xinyue for a reason that went back a long time. Once, during a physical education class, he had seen a young girl who was incredibly beautiful. His heart raced; it was love at first sight. He rushed up to confess, and though he was directly ignored, he couldn’t stop thinking about her. Later, he found out that the “white moonlight” of his heart was actually the “ugly duckling” of the class.
The boy’s feelings were complicated. After agonizing for a long time, he cornered the girl in the classroom after school to confess again. And he was ignored again.
If she were a real princess, fine—but she was just an adopted daughter of the Yins, a normally unnoticed ugly duckling. How did she dare reject him twice? Jin Xue’s love turned to hate. From then on, he called her “ugly freak” at every turn and stayed on the front lines of bullying her. It was as if seeing Yu Xinyue in a miserable state was the only way to mend his fragile, rejected ego.
“Ziyu,” In Jianghan’s voice was gentle, “the milk is still warm.”
“Mhm.” Shu Ziyu’s attitude was lukewarm. But In Jianghan didn’t care; he was lukewarm to everyone.
“Yu Xinyue didn’t come?”
Jin Xue chimed in, “She probably knew there was a test and skipped on purpose.”
In Jianghan’s best friend, Zheng Pin, said snidely, “Who knows. That kind of person looks quiet but is actually very calculating. She’s just a country bumpkin, but somehow she acted so pitiful that Hanhan’s grandmother let her into the house. Who knows, maybe she’ll try to take half of Hanhan’s inheritance later.”
Shu Ziyu narrowed his eyes, looking toward the door.
“That little beauty… who is she?”
