A Scummy Alpha Supporting Character Accidentally Marks the Heroine After Transmigrating into a Book (GL) - Chapter 2
It was a blatant threat.
Bai Wan closed her eyes in silence, concealing all emotion. The sharp thorns she wore seemed to deflate like a punctured ball, though her body language remained stiff and resistant.
It worked!
The heroine still cared deeply about her younger siblings; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so easily manipulated by the original body in the book.
Yan Nanjue had been terrified while delivering those lines. Sensing the wrist in her palm had stopped fighting, she relaxed her grip slightly.
The heroine had compromised.
Yan Nanjue retracted her hand and swept a glance over the still-fuming heroine, saying nothing more.
Back at the Yan residence, she locked her door and quietly sorted through the original body’s memories and the plotline in her head.
Yan Nanjue had taken the heroine by force, but in three years of marriage, she had never actually touched her. Most of the time, she simply stared at Bai Wan’s face with a cold gaze, examining her inch by inch as if measuring an exquisite piece of property that belonged to her.
Bai Wan had no idea why this woman had set her sights on her, or why it had to be her.
But the transmigrated Yan Nanjue knew.
—It was because Bai Wan’s face was a near-perfect match for the “White Moon” (first love) that the original Yan Nanjue could never have. Especially when she pursed her lips in a shallow smile, her expression and features were an 80% match.
Bai Wan was completely unaware of the “stand-in” situation.
Yan Nanjue’s heart trembled. “So that’s the real reason the original body fell in love with this face at first sight?”
【System: Yes.】
Yan Nanjue felt her vision go dark.
Once the blackened heroine finds out about this, she’s going to grind my bones into ash, isn’t she?!!
【System: There is one more thing. Just now in the private box, you prevented the first meeting between the “Devoted Female Alpha” (Supporting Lead) and the heroine. They had zero interaction. This is a very bad signal for you, Host. It’s best not to break existing character relationships; the flap of a butterfly’s wing could cause the subsequent plot to spiral out of control.】
Yan Nanjue’s vision went dark again. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?!”
【System: . 】
【System: The first meeting was written in the plotline, but you rushed out before you had fully finished digesting the data.】
Yan Nanjue was speechless, replying guiltily, “…I was worried that if I went too late, the heroine would be bullied even worse.”
In the original text, Yan Nanjue hadn’t intervened; she had allowed everything to happen. Just as Bai Wan was about to be forced to crawl over broken glass, the devoted second lead, Ming Yue, couldn’t stand it anymore and stepped in to stop it, personally sending Bai Wan back to the Yan house.
After returning home, the devoted second lead couldn’t get her off her mind. She investigated the “Mrs. Yan’s” background, and out of pity for her plight, began to secretly help her. Without that help, Bai Wan wouldn’t have lasted until the third year.
Even so, Bai Wan didn’t escape her fate in the end.
In the final month of the three-year marriage term, Yan Nanjue was drugged. Stumbling home, she happened to run into Bai Wan, who was on the phone with her sister.
With a faint smile and slightly curved lips, the Omega’s expression was peaceful and tender—a side of her Yan Nanjue had never seen.
…So similar.
Too similar.
Under the influence of the drug, Yan Nanjue couldn’t distinguish who was in front of her. She released her Alpha pheromones and forcibly marked Bai Wan.
After that night, Bai Wan’s world completely collapsed. Despair, violence, mania, hatred, and disgust led her to personally gouge out her own glands. She hovered on the brink of death before finally surviving.
Afterward, the heroine “blackened,” was found by her biological parents from a top-tier wealthy family, and was taken back as a “True Daughter,” thus beginning her path of revenge.
In the original book, Yan Nanjue’s death was gruesome; her body wasn’t even left intact.
Recalling the original body’s miserable end, Yan Nanjue choked back a sob and shuddered. She had to find an opportunity for the devoted second lead and the heroine to meet.
“Miss, you can come down for dinner now,” the cook’s voice came through the door.
Yan Nanjue went downstairs and took a seat in the dining room. She was the only one at the massive long table. The original body’s parents lived abroad year-round; the Yan household consisted only of her and the heroine, and usually, the villa felt masterless. The original body owned property near the office and typically lived in a flat there during the work week.
The cook asked softly, “Miss, should I save a portion for Miss Bai? The servants asked, and she said she wasn’t hungry.”
Following her persona, Yan Nanjue said indifferently, “Don’t bother.”
“If she’s not hungry, then she won’t eat.”
After finishing her meal, Yan Nanjue went to the study. As she climbed the stairs, she felt worried. “System, I’ve never been a CEO… will that count toward my OOC value?”
【System: Relevant character skills will be inherited by the Host’s body account with one click. You need not worry.】
Yan Nanjue breathed a sigh of relief. Otherwise, she was truly afraid she’d run the company into bankruptcy.
Just as she exhaled, a pair of indoor slippers appeared in her field of vision. Looking up, she met the heroine’s beautiful, icy face, looking down at her from the top of the stairs.
Yan Nanjue’s body stiffened slightly. She pretended nothing was wrong and stepped onto the final landing.
A faint scent of moisture wafted over. Bai Wan had changed into loungewear, her hair slightly damp; she had clearly showered immediately.
She lowered her elegant brows, her long lashes hiding the disgust in her eyes. “I have done what you asked. When do you plan to fulfill your promise to me?”
Yan Nanjue answered with a question: “When will you learn to be a bit more obedient? —Instead of being the Mistress of the Yan family, you insist on making a scene about going out to work.”
The hallway wall lamp cast light from behind them, cutting the heroine’s silhouette in half—part light, part shadow. She looked up, her gaze dark and chilling, like a thin blade.
…Yan Nanjue had the illusion she was about to be flayed alive.
She bit her tongue hard and said mockingly, “I told you long ago, if you had been obedient from the start, none of this would have happened. You can’t decide anything right now—not your work, and certainly not your relatives’ illnesses.”
“Wouldn’t you say so? Mrs. Yan.”
Bai Wan clenched her palms tightly.
…Mrs. Yan. She says it so grandly, but in reality, I’m just a pet dog waiting for slaughter. Perhaps not even a pet.
“I’ll have someone arrange your employment. You’ll start as a regular employee.”
Yan Nanjue threw a few more sarcastic remarks her way and then, right in front of her, called her Special Assistant to arrange everything.
“You’re coming to the office with me next Monday.”
Bai Wan frowned slightly. “…I will go by myself.”
She looked directly at Yan Nanjue, her words like needles hidden in silk. “I am not worthy of the position of ‘Mrs. Yan.’ Besides, having our relationship exposed to the regular employees would only embarrass you, wouldn’t it, President Yan?”
The sharp counter-question was like a thorn.
Yan Nanjue stared into her eyes and, outside of the scripted plot, found herself dazed.
Those irises were a rare amber color, clear as gemstones. It was a beautiful pair of eyes, though currently as dark and heavy as a storm-tossed sea—dangerous, as if they were about to tear everything apart.
After a long stalemate, Yan Nanjue felt inexplicably uncomfortable. She avoided those gemstone-like eyes and, per her persona, let out a light sneer. “Suit yourself.”
On Monday, Yan Nanjue spent the entire morning in agony, unable to stop worrying about the heroine who had started her job. In the book, the heroine’s time at the company wasn’t pleasant, but she couldn’t just not let her work…
“President Yan, your lunch has been delivered.” Special Assistant Lin Furuo knocked gently.
Yan Nanjue paused. “It’s lunch break?”
“Yes, President Yan.”
Yan Nanjue asked as if casually, “Where is Bai Wan?”
Assistant: “The Madam is just a regular employee; she is eating in the staff canteen.”
Yan Nanjue was worried. “Give my lunch to someone else. —Assistant Lin, I don’t think I’ve ever been to the staff canteen. Accompany me there.”
Surprise flashed in Assistant Lin’s eyes; she clearly didn’t understand her boss’s change in attitude. “You…” She paused. “Understood.”
In the Canteen:
The Omega colleague next to Bai Wan suddenly gasped. “It’s Assistant Lin! Why is she here? And the person next to her… that’s President Yan!”
Bai Wan’s movements halted. She suddenly lifted her eyelids.
The Alpha appearing at the canteen entrance wore a dark burgundy shirt with sleeves rolled up to her forearms. Her long hair was tied low. With a narrow waist and long legs, she exuded a domineering aura that screamed “Keep Away.” Her expression and posture were as high-and-mighty and arrogant as ever.
Bai Wan clenched her hand under the table.
Another colleague looked back. “President Yan is much more beautiful in person than in photos, but she looks so scary. I guess all Alphas are like that.”
The Omega colleague asked curiously, “President Yan seems to be looking over here? Bai Wan, do you know her?”
“Never met her,” Bai Wan replied indifferently.
Just as the words left her mouth, Yan Nanjue retracted her gaze. She walked past their table without leaving a single word or even a spare glance, talking to her assistant as they headed straight for the second floor.
It was as if they truly had never met.
The canteen was filled with various smells, but Bai Wan’s keen Omega senses caught a faint fragrance—chilling and light, a woody scent mixed with bitter citrus and lavender.
…It was the scent of that woman’s perfume.
Bai Wan couldn’t help but hold her breath; even the smell disgusted her. She finished her meal with a normal expression and then said, “I’m going back first. I still have work.”
The Omega colleague curled her lip secretly. “I don’t know what she’s acting so high-and-mighty for…”
From the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor, Yan Nanjue watched the heroine’s thin figure walk out into the silent, chilly early spring.
Assistant Lin whispered, “President Yan, I heard some people are unhappy with the Madam. Since she was hired ‘out of thin air,’ some unpleasant rumors are spreading… Do you need me to tell them to shut up?”
Yan Nanjue thought of how the heroine had looked away with a stranger’s expression just now. The heroine clearly hated people meddling in her affairs.
“No need.”
Yan Nanjue paused. “Has anyone taken the jewelry design project from Ming Yue at MY Company yet?”
Assistant Lin nodded. “Not yet. It’s President Ming’s private project. The Design Department manager is still weighing who to give it to. President Ming is coming to the company the day after tomorrow to negotiate the Country C project; she’ll likely ask about it afterward.”
Yan Nanjue said coldly, “Give it to her (Bai Wan). Don’t give her any special treatment; let her do it herself.”
In the original book, Bai Wan also got this project, but it was intended as a hardship—the original Yan Nanjue wanted her to fail and give up.
But the current Yan Nanjue was doing this entirely because Ming Yue, the President of MY Company, was the devoted second lead!
According to the plot, Ming Yue would fall in love with the heroine at first sight, and her feelings would deepen through their professional interactions. By the end of the project, the second lead would be so deeply in love that she would risk her life to help her.
This project was the best opportunity for the heroine and the second lead to meet!
After two days of agonizing wait, Yan Nanjue finished a meeting distractedly. As she stepped out of the conference room, she paused.
Several people were waiting outside: the Design Director, some staff, and the heroine, Bai Wan.
“President Yan, we are here to meet with President Ming,” the Director said.
When Yan Nanjue’s gaze hit Bai Wan, it paused imperceptibly before quickly moving away. “Go on in.”
As the two groups brushed past each other, Yan Nanjue turned her head slightly as she rounded the corner, catching sight of Bai Wan’s figure disappearing into the conference room.
Everything is going according to plan!
Back in her office, Yan Nanjue pulled up the surveillance feed for the meeting room and put on her Bluetooth earphones.
The Design Department meeting went smoothly. Yan Nanjue saw Ming Yue’s gaze land on Bai Wan several times, while the latter kept her eyes downcast, appearing indifferent.
About an hour later, the meeting ended. The staff left one by one. Just as Bai Wan was about to push the door open to leave, she was suddenly called back.
“Miss Bai, please wait!” Ming Yue said. “I still have some design details I’d like to discuss with you.”
Soon, only the two of them remained in the room.
There was a moment of silence in the earphones. Then, Yan Nanjue heard the devoted second lead’s uncertain voice:
“Miss Bai, you are… Mrs. Yan, aren’t you?”
