A Tsundere Beauty Omega is Stubborn but Sweet - Chapter 2
Looking at Yu You’s smug grin—which looked like a child who had just snatched a favorite toy—Zhou Muxian only found it more cute than childish.
So determined to win?
I’m not going to let you succeed that easily.
Quick as a flash, Zhou Muxian hooked a hand around Yu You’s slender waist and used the momentum to spin them both in place. As Yu You’s long skirt fluttered through the air, they both collapsed toward the floor together.
Thump—
Yu You’s entire body landed squarely on top of Zhou Muxian. Her soft lips inevitably pressed hard against Zhou Muxian’s cheek, the faint scent of daisies swirling around them.
Zhou Muxian figured it was better to endure a little physical sting herself than to let the fragile young miss cry over a scraped knee. At least, that was her practical justification.
Little did she know, the person on top of her was having much more complex thoughts.
“Pah, pah, pah!”
Yu You reacted as if she had kissed something filthy, wiping her mouth repeatedly. Her peach-blossom eyes glared at Zhou Muxian with fury. She spoke in a voice just loud enough for the two of them to hear: “You are so calculating! Trying to play the ‘good person’ in front of Mom and Dad again, aren’t you?”
Zhou Muxian was momentarily speechless. Recalling the plot of the original book, she quickly accepted this personality trait.
After all, the conflict in the novel started with the sisters fighting and ended with their mutual destruction. Therefore, making peace with Yu You was her most important mission.
In the original book, Yu You was a “tsundere” socialite—seemingly arrogant and domineering, acting as if she had a wicked and complex mind. In reality, her tactics were on the level of a toddler fighting over a rattle; she couldn’t come up with a truly malicious scheme if her life depended on it.
Aside from talking smack and saying mean things, she had no real bite.
She was incredibly soft-hearted (and soft-eared), and she truly loved the Yu parents. Whether it was money or affection, she was simply intensely possessive.
To handle someone like this, brute force wouldn’t work. One had to show weakness and play the “Green Tea” (manipulative but seemingly innocent) card.
“Ugh… hiss…”
Zhou Muxian furrowed her brows, cautiously touching the back of her head. She pretended that she had hit the floor hard and was in agonizing pain.
Yu You rolled her eyes and said crossly, “Tsk tsk, faking it again. You total fraud…”
Tap, tap, tap—
The hurried footsteps of Father and Mother Yu echoed on the stairs until they stopped at the landing.
“Xian’er, are you okay?”
Yu You looked up at the anxious couple, about to expose Zhou Muxian’s acting, but Zhou Muxian beat her to the punch.
“Dad, Mom, I’m perfectly fine!”
Zhou Muxian sat up with a smile, her face showing no trace of pain. She looked up at Yu You, who had already stood up, and teased:
“Sister is just too thin! When she fell on me, she felt weightless, like a feather. You really need to eat more, you know.”
Yu You froze.
Zhou Muxian hadn’t taken the opportunity to show off or act like a victim. She hadn’t blamed her, nor had she spun some elaborate lie like she usually did.
“Sister~ give me a hand.”
Zhou Muxian’s ink-black hair fell naturally over her shoulders, revealing a glimpse of her delicate collarbone. Even though she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt today, her shoulders were oddly eye-catching.
Her pupils were darker than the average person’s, so even when she was smiling brightly, being stared at by her felt a little intimidating—like she was a thousand-year-old serpent demon making a sinister invitation: Come here, let’s see if I don’t eat you whole.
“Hmph—”
Yu You huffed and looked away, refusing to help her up.
Zhou Muxian lowered her head and smiled to herself. This was why Yu You was a “brainless paper tiger.” If she had any real craftiness, she’d know that being a tsundere was useless here; she should be competing to see who could be the “teasier” victim.
Seeing the awkwardness in the air, Mother Yu hurried forward to help Zhou Muxian up, forcing a caring smile.
She knew Zhou Muxian was sensitive and had low self-esteem, often stepping back or being bullied in this house. But she also knew that Yu You, whom she had raised herself, was a kind-hearted girl at her core, without a mean bone in her body.
Being caught between these two daughters was an impossible task.
“Youyou, look at Xian’er. Even though she’s only a few hours younger than you, she has the poise of an older sister. As for you, you’re still a child who hasn’t grown up. Mom has really spoiled you rotten.”
Mother Yu meant to lighten the mood, but as soon as the words left her mouth, Father Yu gave a light cough. Mother Yu realized her mistake—she had failed to “keep the bowl level.” She had inadvertently shown favoritism.
Usually, at this point, Zhou Muxian would say she was fine with tears in her eyes and then retreat to her room for twenty-four hours of moping.
Mother Yu grew anxious, her mouth opening and closing as she tried to find a way to fix her words.
Seeing this, Yu You acted like a happy little sparrow, diving into Mother Yu’s arms and rubbing her head against her chest. “Mmm~~ Mom is the best! I love Mom most! I’ll always be Mom’s little baby.”
Mother Yu was delighted by the affection but worried about Zhou Muxian’s reaction. Her expression flickered between a smile and a frown, looking quite contorted.
Father Yu scratched his head, trying to open his arms so Zhou Muxian could also feel some fatherly love, but he felt too awkward to actually do it.
The atmosphere turned ice-cold.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Muxian—with her eyes curving into crescents—also dove toward Mother Yu, pulling both her and Yu You into a hug.
“Sister is the best! I love Sister most! I’ll always be Sister’s little baby.”
Father and Mother Yu felt the weight lift from their hearts and burst into hearty laughter.
Yu You, however, felt her smile vanish. Tucked into Mother Yu’s embrace, she glared at Zhou Muxian, convinced the girl was mocking her or being “yin-yang” (sarcastic) to disgust her.
The parents might not know, but didn’t she?
A few days ago, when only the two of them were present, Zhou Muxian had intentionally smashed the limited-edition porcelain doll Mom gave her.
Back then, Zhou Muxian had said the nastiest things…
“Don’t think that because Mom and Dad pamper you, they love you. Kind people like them would develop feelings even for a dog. A fake is a fake; how can you compare to a real daughter like me?”
“They aren’t kicking you out now because they pity a stray dog on the street. Your biological parents are dead; what’s the difference between you and a stray?”
“These things were supposed to be mine. You’ve occupied my life for so many years—I’ll break whatever I want, and I’ll kick you out whenever I feel like it!”
Yu You would never forget that look of disdain.
Thinking of this, Yu You buried herself deeper into Mother Yu’s arms. Feeling the shift, Zhou Muxian held them both even tighter.
Mother Yu, squeezed between them, finally flashed the happiest smile she’d had in days.
“Hahaha, you two sisters must get along well. You are both our precious treasures.”
Zhou Muxian nodded vigorously: “Mhm!”
Seeing her act so “obedient,” Yu You couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes.
“Sister, today is a good day. I’ve prepared a surprise for you. Come to my room and see!”
Zhou Muxian suddenly reached out her hand to Yu You, looking at her with anticipation.
Yu You sneered at the gesture, but her annoyed heart wanted a private space to vent at her, so she twitched her lips and reluctantly took the hand.
“Fine.”
Zhou Muxian happily led her back to her own room. The moment the door closed, Yu You shucked her hand away in disgust.
“Zhou Muxian, what kind of trick are you pulling now?”
Zhou Muxian blinked innocently: “How could I, Sister? You’ve misunderstood me. I really did prepare a gift.”
“Keep acting.” Yu You crossed her arms, her lip curling. Seeing Zhou Muxian actually turn to rummage through a drawer, she took two wary steps back.
“Hmph. You wicked woman, you probably hid a dead rat in there to scare me!”
Zhou Muxian didn’t answer. Instead, she rolled up her sleeves, revealing a lean, fair arm, and kept digging through the drawer.
Yu You’s gaze was unintentionally drawn to that white arm. She couldn’t help but think it looked quite… strong.
Ta-da!
Zhou Muxian suddenly spun around, holding something high. Startled, Yu You stumbled backward, her back hitting the doorframe so hard she nearly fell.
“What’s wrong, Sister?”
Zhou Muxian looked puzzled by the frightened Yu You, then looked up at the necklace she was holding. She didn’t understand what there was to be afraid of.
Yu You hadn’t seen the movement clearly and really thought it was a dead rat. Embarrassed, she propped herself up against the wall.
“What is that?” Yu You rubbed her sore shoulder, trying to maintain an aura of fearlessness.
Zhou Muxian took two steps closer, showing the necklace clearly: “It’s your favorite Wanpai limited-edition custom necklace. The only one in the world.”
Yu You’s expression darkened even further.
She adored the luxury brand Wanpai and had begged her parents for their jewelry since she was a kid. But they had never bought her a limited edition, let alone a custom one. They always said they couldn’t spoil her—maybe after university graduation.
But a few nights after Zhou Muxian returned, Yu You had passed their bedroom and heard Zhou Muxian asking for a Wanpai limited necklace. They had agreed instantly.
She didn’t expect it to be not just limited, but a one-of-a-kind custom piece.
Yu You felt like she had just eaten ten pounds of lemons soaked in chili oil. She was burning with jealousy, and her voice was sour: “You’ve misunderstood. I don’t like this brand anymore. Only kids who haven’t seen the world like this brand. No matter how much you show off, it’s useless. I—”
Zhou Muxian watched her mouth the lies while her eyes couldn’t hide the envy. Yu You looked like she wanted to stare a hole through the necklace. That gorgeous face paired with a tsundere expression was a unique sight.
“It’s for you, Sister.”
She smiled and brought the necklace closer, cutting Yu You off.
Yu You froze again, staring at Zhou Muxian in disbelief. Her superficial sharpness vanished, replaced by a blank stare.
Meeting that expression, Zhou Muxian couldn’t help but let out a snicker. It was a well-meaning tease, but Yu You still turned her face away angrily.
“Trying to prank me again! I won’t—”
The warm pendant touched her neck unexpectedly. Yu You gasped as the other girl gently brushed aside her thick, wavy curls and carefully fastened the necklace around her neck.
Zhou Muxian had finished the clasp long ago, but she intentionally lingered. Noticing Yu You’s breathing becoming heavier in the close proximity, she finally let go with a satisfied smile and stepped back.
Yu You’s cheeks were three shades pinker than before, and she looked flustered, though her voice remained stubborn.
“Oh! I get it! You want to tell Mom and Dad that I stole this necklace from you! You want to make me the villain! Zhou Muxian, I’m not stupid! Don’t try to trick me!”
Seeing that Yu You’s hands made no move to actually remove the necklace, Zhou Muxian teased: “Are you that scared? No courage at all? Then give it back to me.”
Yu You went silent instantly.
What was given to her was hers. She wasn’t about to give it up.
At worst… at worst she’d just get a scolding from her parents. So what?
Seeing that she indeed wouldn’t return it, a mischievous smirk played on Zhou Muxian’s lips. She reached toward her: “I see. Sister wants me to take it off for her personally? No problem…”
Yu You clutched her neck like a startled fawn, backed away in a panic, threw the door open, and bolted.
Once she reached her own room and locked the door, Yu You took the necklace off to admire it. Touching the cold diamond pendant, she suddenly remembered that when Zhou Muxian was putting it on her, it had felt warm.
Did she actually take the time to warm the necklace with her hands first?
Yu You curled her lip and snorted. “Hmph. Bad person. Who knows what wicked scheme she’s cooking up! I won’t fall for it!”
