A Tsundere Beauty Omega is Stubborn but Sweet - Chapter 4
In the lobby of the Civil Affairs Bureau, the marriage registration windows were on the left, the divorce windows were on the right, and the seating area for people waiting for their numbers was in the middle.
Zhou Muxian gripped Yu You’s hand tightly as they walked to the center, pressing her down into a seat without allowing any room for argument.
Dramas of extreme opposites were unfolding on either side of them.
To the left were brilliant flowers and sweet nothings; someone was even kneeling to present a diamond ring.
“Thank you for marrying me, baby. I’ll love you for a lifetime.”
“I’m so lucky to have met you in this life. We must stay together forever and ever.”
To the right were sour faces and vicious words, looking as though a physical brawl might break out at any second.
“You liar! You always talked a big game, but what did you actually give me? A nightmare?”
“When you proposed, you said you loved my ‘little temper’ and thought it was cute. Now that we’re divorcing, you say I have the temper of a stupid pig. What Alpha would ever want me?”
Hearing this, Yu You tilted her chin up and spoke dismissively: “What do you mean by this? Are you trying to tell me that marriage is ridiculous? That everyone’s story ends in tragedy?”
Zhou Muxian shook her head. She had completely dropped the “Green Tea” act she used at home and looked at her with absolute sincerity.
“I want to tell you to learn how to distinguish what is genuine. Real sincerity isn’t something that words or material things can fake; between people, it’s the most obvious thing in the world. The moment you have to wonder if someone is being sincere… they aren’t.”
Seeing Zhou Muxian lecturing her, Yu You turned her head away indignantly, unwilling to listen. “Mind your own business! Why don’t you worry about your own jealousy from earlier? It looked to me like you were much deeper in than I was.”
“I wasn’t. I snapped out of it instantly. I was liberated right then and there! Now, she’s nothing but a common scallion to me.”
As she spoke, Zhou Muxian raised her hand to take an oath, looking at Yu You with eyes full of earnestness.
Hearing her speak so decisively, Yu You refused to be outdone. She straightened her spine and declared: “I was liberated instantly too! Now, she’s nothing but a head of garlic to me.”
“Then who was the one with the watery eyes?”
Zhou Muxian’s words were sharp and a bit biting. Yu You felt a sting of discomfort as her eyes welled up again. She took a sharp breath and pouted in rebuttal.
“You’ve got it wrong. I’m sad because my sincerity was betrayed. I treated her like a kind older sister and wanted to be her friend. She played me, so of course I’m upset. I never liked her like that.”
Having blurted out her true feelings, Yu You immediately knitted her brows and gritted her teeth. The stunning beauty suddenly looked like a grumpy, silly antelope. “Why am I even telling you this! Are we even that close?”
Sensing the scent of gossip, the people around them fell silent, casting curious glances their way.
Zhou Muxian couldn’t tell how much of those “true feelings” were real, but she knew the seed the Princess had planted in Yu You’s heart was officially dead. She let out a sigh of relief, her expression relaxing.
She gave a soft “shh,” reminding Yu You that she had been too loud, then slowly leaned in close to Yu You’s ear. “Then don’t like her in the future. If she looks for you, ignore her. Okay?”
It sounded like coaxing a child, but it felt more like flirting.
Yu You felt restless and wanted to pull away, but for some reason, her upper body didn’t move an inch, allowing the other girl to “nibble” at her ear with words.
“I can’t stand to see Sister being mistreated… it makes my heart ache…”
Zhou Muxian seized the chance to play the “good little sister” again to raise her favorability. However, the “Green Tea” talk snapped Yu You back to reality. Remembering the nasty things Zhou Muxian had said in the past, a nameless fire surged to her brain.
Zhou Muxian was a master at acting innocent; Yu You wouldn’t be fooled so easily. She stood up abruptly, but then—Rrip!
The sweater on her back had been snagged by something on the seat. Because she stood up so fast and forcefully, there was a loud tear. A large section of the sweater ripped open, exposing her skin and butterfly bones. The sudden chill made Yu You shiver.
Though, it might have been a shiver of pure embarrassment.
Before Yu You could react, Zhou Muxian had swiftly shed her wool trench coat and draped it over Yu You’s shoulders. Zhou Muxian was left in only a thin black knit top, which emphasized her impressive curves, slender waist, and long legs.
Yu You was momentarily dazed. She couldn’t understand how someone so lean could have such a perfect, striking silhouette.
The person she was “admiring” suddenly flashed a meaningful smile. Guilty, Yu You looked away and began to pick a fight.
“Don’t think I’m going to be grateful. I didn’t actually need this coat…”
Before she could finish, Zhou Muxian grabbed both sides of the coat and made a move to pull it off. “Oh~ Sister wants to show off her sexy back to everyone. I was overstepping.”
Yu You frantically pressed her hands down on Zhou Muxian’s hands to keep the coat on, stubbornly insisting: “Mhm! It is very sexy! My back was already beautiful, and I have butterfly bones. It was a fashion statement…”
Zhou Muxian made another feint to take the coat. “Fine, whatever Sister says. I’ll take the coat back.”
Zhou Muxian’s lean hands were surprisingly strong. Yu You found she couldn’t hold them down, so she finally whispered: “Don’t.”
It sounded like pouting, or perhaps begging for mercy.
Zhou Muxian could barely hide her grin. Teasing a dummy was surprisingly fun. She felt a surge of excitement deep inside, her eyes lighting up.
Yu You’s bright eyes darted around. Noticing the smile, she huffed and stomped toward the exit. “What are you laughing at? There’s nothing funny.”
They returned to the car. The atmosphere was now completely different from the ride there. The driver looked at Yu You in Zhou Muxian’s coat, then at the smiling Zhou Muxian. Seemingly understanding something, he held back a laugh. “Home, ladies?”
“Home.”
The response was almost perfectly in sync. Yu You looked away, annoyed—since when did we get so synchronized!
Zhou Muxian adjusted the rearview mirror and saw Yu You’s pouting face. She looked like a little pink pufferfish, so cute that Zhou Muxian could only shake her head. Such a temper. I hope I don’t tease her to death one day.
When they opened the front door, they smelled tension. Father and Mother Yu were sitting solemnly on the sofa. Two cups of tea sat on the coffee table, untouched.
They looked up, their expressions a far cry from their usual doting selves. They were as strict as the day Yu You had been caught skipping school to play games at an internet cafe. Back then, they had scolded her for three hours, brandishing a ruler to intimidate her.
Yu You had cried her eyes out then, terrified the ruler would actually land. Though it never did, the scare was enough to keep her from skipping again.
Remembering this, Yu You felt a lingering fear. Now that it was Zhou Muxian’s turn to get scolded, she was so happy she practically wanted to wag a tail.
“Xian’er, why weren’t you in class this morning? Your counselor couldn’t find you and thought something happened. They called me.”
Mother Yu tried to speak calmly, but the anger beneath the surface was ready to erupt.
Zhou Muxian couldn’t throw Yu You under the bus, but as she was thinking of an excuse, Yu You gleefully fetched a ruler from the storage room and placed it on the coffee table. Then, as if one tool wasn’t enough, she brought a thick rolling pin from the kitchen and thudded it down next to the ruler.
She patted the tools gently, as if telling them: Good luck! Make sure you hit her hard!
Zhou Muxian was stuck between laughing and crying. While the parents were distracted by the “weapons” on the table, she glared at Yu You as a warning.
But Yu You was feeling bold and began to exaggerate: “Sister was naughty! I told her not to skip, but she wouldn’t listen. She insisted on cutting class. You have to be strict with her, Mom! Scold her so she remembers!”
Mother Yu looked at Zhou Muxian, her fury reaching a breaking point.
Yu You, oh Yu You. You were the one who broke the peace first. Don’t blame me for being heartless.
Zhou Muxian faced Mother Yu’s stern gaze and spoke without hesitation: “Mom, I didn’t mean to skip. It was because… Sister was going on a date. I was worried, so I followed her secretly. That person really is a bad guy! A very, very bad person!”
The tables turned instantly. Yu You looked at Zhou Muxian in shock, never expecting to be betrayed like this.
The fire in Mother Yu’s eyes shifted toward Yu You. Father Yu couldn’t sit still either; his hand reached for the rolling pin.
Terrified, Yu You froze for two seconds before pointing at Zhou Muxian: “That scumbag also went on a date with Sister! Sister even said they’ve kissed and hugged! I never kissed or hugged her! I just had a few meals and saw a few movies! I’m the good one here!”
The situation became even more dire. Zhou Muxian tried to explain: “I never kissed or hugged…”
But her explanation was weak. The parents were livid. They began a high-pressure interrogation, demanding the full truth.
Yu You was a terrible liar. Once her cover was blown, she had to confess everything. She didn’t know that the highest form of lying was “montage-style” (blending truth and fiction).
“Dad, Mom, I know the Princess has always been against our family business and investments. So when she approached me, I knew something was wrong. I wanted to keep an eye on her, but then I realized she was also approaching Sister. That made me even more suspicious. I pretended to be her friend to see what she was really up to.
Sister and I haven’t been on good terms lately, so I couldn’t just warn her—she wouldn’t have believed me. So today, I intentionally followed her and said those things to the Princess to tear off her mask so she could never take advantage of Sister again!
I will protect my sister myself!!! No one is allowed to hurt her!”
This speech sounded incredibly credible to the parents. Yu You, however, scoffed. If Zhou Muxian hadn’t said those cruel things to her before, she might have actually been moved.
Father and Mother Yu looked at Zhou Muxian with pride, but when they turned back to Yu You, they were still furious.
“Put your hand out. You’re becoming lawless. If we don’t discipline you, you’ll never learn.”
Mother Yu picked up the old ruler. Knowing she was in the wrong, Yu You didn’t dare resist and slowly extended her hand.
Whack—
The ruler didn’t hit Yu You’s palm. It hit Zhou Muxian’s. She had darted forward to block the stinging blow.
All three looked at Zhou Muxian in shock.
“Sister is already sad enough. Mom, Dad, don’t hit her. Hit me instead. I promise to protect Sister from now on and never let her get hurt again!”
Yu You’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t tell if this was another of Zhou Muxian’s “bitter meat” (self-sacrifice) traps or a sincere declaration.
Zhou Muxian turned to look at Yu You. In her dazed state, Yu You looked like a rose at its peak, swaying in the wind, about to fall but not yet.
She was incredibly alluring, and Zhou Muxian felt a desperate urge to comfort her.
She instinctively opened her arms and hugged Yu You tightly: “I love Sister most~ I want to be Sister’s good little puppy~”
