A Tsundere Beauty Omega is Stubborn but Sweet - Chapter 5
The winter night wind rattled the purple wind chimes on the balcony, brushing against skin exposed to the air like a sheet of sandpaper made of ice.
Yu You had paced around the house circle after circle, hoping for a “casual” run-in with Zhou Muxian. To her surprise, the girl was nowhere to be found in any of the rooms. Finally, she spotted her silhouette on the third-floor balcony, shrouded in a swirl of smoke.
Yu You’s eyes lit up instantly. She pushed open the glass door with excitement, deliberately slowing her pace as she walked toward Zhou Muxian, making no effort to hide her smug expression.
Look at you, acting like such a good girl. I’ve finally caught you red-handed.
Seeing her approach, Zhou Muxian quickly crushed the half-finished cigarette. With an almost instinctive reflex, she greeted her with a smile: “Sister~”
“Calling me ‘Sister’ won’t save you.” Yu You tilted her chin up haughtily and let out an unbridled laugh. “I’m going to tell Mom that you’ve learned how to smoke.”
Hearing this blatant threat, Zhou Muxian actually started laughing too.
If Yu You had really wanted to snitch, she would have gone straight to their parents. Coming all the way out here to say it to her face meant she just wanted to see Zhou Muxian “struggling” and “begging for mercy.”
“Good Sister, don’t tell Mom and Dad.”
Zhou Muxian smiled and took Yu You’s arm, giving it a gentle shake. She stared straight at her with eyes that seemed to overflow with affection. “Pretty please…?”
Yu You had to admit, Zhou Muxian was extremely good-looking. Especially when she was cold and silent, she looked like an ethereal “high mountain flower,” making it impossible not to focus on her face.
But whenever Zhou Muxian deliberately put on a charming smile, Yu You felt a strange discomfort. She didn’t know why, but even though the other girl was the one lowering her posture to play nice, Yu You felt a terrifying sense of being invaded by a powerful Alpha.
But Zhou Muxian is clearly an Omega. On the first day she came home, the whole family saw her genetic test results.
Perhaps that was just fate—having the charisma of an Alpha but lacking the “hardware,” destined to remain an Omega.
Zhou Muxian waved a hand slightly in front of her, speaking with a mix of concern and teasing: “What are you staring at, Sister? You’ve turned into a dazed goose.”
Yu You snapped out of it with a shiver. She instinctively hugged her arms. She had come out in a hurry, wearing only a thin shawl, and the wind was now sending goosebumps across her skin.
Zhou Muxian practicedly took off her trench coat and draped it over Yu You, leaning in so close she was practically whispering into her ear: “Good Sister, let’s not tell Mom and Dad about the smoking. How about I bring you popcorn after class tomorrow?”
Seeing no reaction, Zhou Muxian added: “Butter cookies? White chocolate ice cream? Skewers? Ice-cold Coke? Fries? Deep-fried milk?”
Zhou Muxian’s low, deliberate whispers were like a devil’s, tempting Yu You to abandon her last shred of reason. Images of those foods flashed through her mind, and her bright eyes began to lose focus.
Her parents doted on her, but they were very strict, never allowing her to eat high-calorie junk food. They checked her spending records regularly to ensure she was staying disciplined.
Every time they caught her, her favorite dishes would disappear from the dinner table, replaced by salt-less, oil-less salads and egg whites.
To Yu You, that was no different from eating grass. She couldn’t even remember the last time she had ice cream—it was probably when she was studying abroad.
Though she had many friends, the proud and image-conscious Yu You could never bring herself to ask her fitness-obsessed friends to go out for fried skewers.
Thus, no one knew about her secret cravings.
Zhou Muxian hadn’t been in the house long; how did she know this secret? Yu You’s lip curled; she felt a sudden prick of unhappiness.
Maybe Mom and Dad told her.
Are they already that close?
Have they been talking about me behind my back?
At the thought, Yu You’s brow furrowed. She bit her cherry-red lip with her bright, pearly teeth. The beauty’s temper was on a short fuse.
Beside her, Zhou Muxian watched these shifting expressions with total bewilderment. Seeing Yu You suddenly raise a hand, she instinctively stepped back, putting her hands up in a defensive pose.
Sure enough, Zhou Muxian’s vision went dark as the trench coat, smelling faintly of daisies, was flung over her head.
At the same time, Yu You’s annoyed voice crashed down on her: “Take it back! I don’t want…”
Just then, a gale of wind swept past, making them both shudder. Yu You’s insult got stuck in her throat.
Zhou Muxian’s lips quirked up in a knowing smile.
It was late at night, and she was on the balcony to smoke.
But what about Yu You? Why was she out here in nothing but thin pajamas? To look at the stars?
She walked up to Yu You, who was about to leave, with a mischievous grin. As Yu You took a step forward, Zhou Muxian took a playful step back, speaking in her most innocent tone: “Did Sister come out specifically to find me? Why are you leaving so soon? Can’t we chat a little longer?”
Yu You looked at her as if she’d said something absurd. She let out a cold laugh and crossed her arms, looking away. “Wishful thinking. This is my house’s balcony. Why shouldn’t I be here?!”
Zhou Muxian nodded sincerely. “Of course, of course. Whether I’m on the balcony, in the kitchen, the living room, the bathtub, or even on the toilet, Sister is welcome to find me anytime…”
So greasy.
Yu You’s lip twitched. She rolled her eyes and was about to deliver a retort.
But Zhou Muxian dropped her smile and finished with utter sincerity: “Because this will always be Sister’s home, and I will always be Sister’s good little sister.”
Yu You’s hurried steps toward the glass door halted abruptly. Her gaze began to drift.
She… isn’t trying to kick me out?
No, she’s definitely not that kind. This must be some new ‘soft’ tactic!
How despicable, making me fall for it over and over again!
Her breathing grew ragged. A fire seemed to be burning in her chest, spreading to her organs, threatening to burn her through. Even though the night air was cold, her cheeks and exposed skin were scalding hot.
Yu You’s unfocused eyes suddenly widened. Oh no. My heat cycle isn’t over. It’s coming back.
She shoved Zhou Muxian away and stumbled toward the glass door. She hit the frame with a loud thump, but she didn’t seem to feel the pain, frantically clawing at the glass to find the handle.
The worsening blur in her vision was a warning: her consciousness was being rapidly swallowed by the desires of her heat. She was about to lose control!
“No, no, no, I can’t…”
Yu You gripped her slipping shawl tightly, her heart a mess of fear and embarrassment. She couldn’t lose face in front of Zhou Muxian again. It was too humiliating.
“Mmm~”
But as soon as she opened her mouth, a moan escaped. Hearing her own seductive voice with what remained of her logic, her body and soul felt even more scorched.
The scent of daisies filled the air, tightly enveloping Zhou Muxian, who was five steps away.
Zhou Muxian was busy holding her breath, trying to escape the alluring fragrance. Every time she thought it was safe to take a breath, the scent would sneak back into her nose and drill into her usually calm brain.
The image of Yu You collapsed by the stairs yesterday—her flushed skin under her open collar, her face covered in tears like broken pearls—flashed through her mind.
Even though Yu You was only making pained muffled noises now, Zhou Muxian seemed to hear a helpless voice whispering in her ear:
“Help me. Help me. Help me.”
She couldn’t shake it off.
Zhou Muxian frowned and looked at Yu You slumped against the glass door. That one glance was enough to make her legs move toward her again.
Yu You heard the movement and looked up. In her watery eyes were three clear words: Help me.
Zhou Muxian’s heart skipped a beat. She looked away as if burned. Last time was during the day with people coming and going; Yu You didn’t fully suspect her. If she used her teeth to give her a temporary mark again this time, she wouldn’t be able to escape suspicion.
It wasn’t time to reveal her Alpha identity yet.
Holding her breath, Zhou Muxian pulled the “suppressant freshener” from her coat pocket and held it under Yu You’s nose.
In this world, Alphas and Omegas each had unique pheromones. Large amounts of these pheromones acted like an aphrodisiac on the opposite type. Because of this, releasing pheromones in public was strictly forbidden.
However, some people with low self-control would leak small amounts even when they weren’t emotional or in a cycle. That small amount wouldn’t trigger a heat, but it could be uncomfortable or influence moods. The freshener was meant to interfere with those small leaks.
While it couldn’t stop a full heat cycle like Yu You’s, it could slow down her loss of consciousness and dampen the effect the pheromones had on Zhou Muxian.
“I don’t… I don’t need your help… you… powerless… Omega…”
The moment Yu You regained a sliver of consciousness, she stubbornly turned her face away.
Her heat seemed more aggressive than a normal Omega’s. Her nose, cheeks, and lips were burnt a deep rose—looking like a heavy “sunburn” makeup look—and her bright eyes were as red as a little rabbit’s. Her whole body was burning.
In the cold night, she felt like a human hand-warmer.
Zhou Muxian scooped her up with one arm and pushed open the glass door with the other, racing toward Yu You’s room on the second floor.
Even though Yu You said she didn’t need help, her arms were locked tightly around Zhou Muxian’s neck. Even when they reached the room and Zhou Muxian tried to set her on the sofa, Yu You showed no intention of letting go.
Being this close and smelling the daisy pheromones was torture for Zhou Muxian.
She had to lower her head and take a deep breath of the freshener herself. Then, holding the burning girl, she half-knelt by the nightstand, frantically searching for an Omega-specific suppressant.
She searched for ages, but all she found were empty containers.
Under the invasion of the daisy scent, cold sweat broke out on Zhou Muxian’s forehead. She took another hit of the freshener and a sudden thought hit her—
Did this little dummy spend all day obsessing over the Princess and forget that her seven-day heat cycle wasn’t over? Did she really not buy any new suppressors?!
