A Vicious Scum Alpha in a Heartthrob Novel - Chapter 2
To Fu Jinghua’s utter surprise, just as she expected the Alpha to break her word, she witnessed something that made her eyes widen in shock.
Xu Qingshui had picked up a fruit knife from the table and slashed it across her own arm. Blood splattered instantly.
Xu Qingshui kept her eyes downcast, avoiding Fu Jinghua’s gaze. Having only recently regained her clarity, she feared that looking at that face would make her lose control again. She commanded, “Go get the suppressant.”
Fu Jinghua hadn’t expected such boldness. This woman was nothing like the person she knew. One didn’t even have to guess how those other “suitors” who claimed to love her would have behaved in this situation.
…But why was it Xu Qingshui? Why did she have this kind of resolve?
The scene was so jarring that Fu Jinghua felt dazed. The scent of brandy was overpowering; despite not having drunk much, she felt intoxicated. Otherwise, why would she find Xu Qingshui—a literal piece of scum who used any means necessary to get what she wanted—so… charming in this moment?
Was this another act? If so, her acting was better than a professional’s.
When Fu Jinghua remained frozen for too long, Xu Qingshui looked up, her voice cold with urgency: “The suppressant.”
“I’m in a bad state. Either leave, or give me the suppressant.”
Sweat beaded on Xu Qingshui’s forehead. The veins on the arm gripping the bedframe bulged, and the blood flowed faster as she visibly fought against the pheromones. It was an inexplicably provocative sight.
Fu Jinghua swallowed hard. She asked, “Xu Qingshui, will you sleep with other women within the next month?”
Xu Qingshui frowned in confusion. “…What kind of question is that?” It seemed meaningless to ponder, so she answered quickly: “No.”
Fu Jinghua knew she shouldn’t trust her, but the richness of the brandy scent turned her brain to mush. Or perhaps, she was also entering heat.
While Xu Qingshui was still wondering why she’d asked such a thing, the woman walked straight toward her and gently wrapped her arms around her waist.
“Mark me.”
Xu Qingshui froze.
“You induced my heat. So you should… mark me,” Fu Jinghua repeated.
This time, Xu Qingshui heard her clearly. Her eyes flashed with obvious astonishment. Without further hesitation, she pressed down on the woman’s neck and bit down firmly.
In an instant, the air was flooded with the scent of flowers.
Though it was Xu Qingshui’s first time, her intuition was sharp. She knew when to be heavy-handed and when to be gentle, acting with measured precision. Under the influence of pheromones, she inadvertently let slip a hint of her original, slightly forceful nature.
Fu Jinghua let out low whimpers. Despite being the one who demanded to be marked, she was the first to find it unbearable.
“Xu Qingshui, stop!”
But at this stage, it was impossible for Xu Qingshui to stop completely; stopping halfway would be pure torture. She nibbled and grazed, her eyes clouded with raw lust.
Truthfully, she found Fu Jinghua’s body very much to her liking.
Fu Jinghua was flushed crimson from head to toe. By the end, her hands could barely cling to the Alpha’s shoulders.
During her sleep, Xu Qingshui was suddenly kicked violently off the bed.
She groaned, her eyes still half-closed, about to snap at whoever was being so blind. But before the words left her mouth, her consciousness fully returned.
Right. She had transmigrated.
And last night, under the influence of pheromones, she had slept with a woman.
A “heartthrob” woman with countless suitors, none of whom she liked. Meanwhile, Xu Qingshui was the scumbag who had tried everything to get her and failed—only to end up dead at the hands of those suitors in the original ending.
And yet, not only had she succeeded, she had slept with the protagonist.
What a mess.
Xu Qingshui rubbed her temples and looked over at Fu Jinghua. Seeing the hickeys scattered across the woman’s neck—all her handiwork—she felt a rare pang of guilt. She decided to let the “kicked off the bed” grudge go.
She looked away and asked, “…Are you okay?”
In a flash, a pillow came flying at her head. Xu Qingshui caught it reflexively.
Fu Jinghua’s voice was ice-cold: “I told you to stop yesterday. You played deaf.”
Xu Qingshui couldn’t argue. She gave a blunt assessment: “No one in that situation would have stopped. Unless they were impotent, or you were totally unattractive.”
Fu Jinghua bristled. “Shut up.”
Xu Qingshui fell silent. Her clothes had been discarded yesterday. In her initial anger at being kicked, she hadn’t noticed the chill, but now it crept in. She stood up and leaned over to find her clothes.
She found her things piled up with Fu Jinghua’s. She asked casually, “Do you want me to throw yours over to you?”
Fu Jinghua’s face turned from pale to red. “Forget about yesterday.”
Xu Qingshui’s expression didn’t flicker. “Oh.”
She stood and pulled her clothes on, barely covering herself. As for Fu Jinghua’s clothes, she tactfully left them alone. Her fingers were long and slender, her movements efficient and devoid of wasted motion.
Fu Jinghua gritted her teeth. She didn’t know why, but every move Xu Qingshui made seemed to be inadvertently tempting her. This made no sense; she had already received plenty of pheromones.
Fu Jinghua exhaled deeply, trying to clear her head. “Don’t forget the agreement from yesterday.”
Xu Qingshui nodded. “I know.” She picked up the contract from the table and read it aloud, word for word.
“Do not reveal our relationship in public.”
“Do not touch one another.”
When she reached that last line, she paused for a visible second. She set the paper down and promised, “In short, I will do my best to follow every clause in the contract.”
Xu Qingshui spoke sincerely, but seeing this attitude didn’t make Fu Jinghua happy. Xu Qingshui was being too strange. She didn’t believe a person could change so drastically overnight.
Fu Jinghua asked, “And if you fail to do so?”
Xu Qingshui didn’t hesitate: “I’m at your disposal.”
Now Fu Jinghua was convinced the woman was playing with her. At her disposal? With her grandmother watching over them, what could she actually do to her? It was an empty promise.
Unless… she could take away the things the Alpha valued most. Like money and shares. But the Alpha would never agree to that.
…Or maybe she would. Xu Qingshui seemed obsessed with playing this “unfamiliar, doesn’t-like-you” persona. To put it simply: playing hard to get. And it was working; at least Fu Jinghua was willing to talk to her more.
Would Xu Qingshui raise the stakes because of this change in attitude?
Fu Jinghua looked at her and tested the waters: “Let’s re-sign the post-nuptial agreement. If you fail to meet these terms, you leave with nothing. No assets.”
Xu Qingshui said instantly, “Fine.”
Fu Jinghua almost thought she had misheard, but seeing the Alpha’s serious expression, she suddenly felt that Xu Qingshui wasn’t lying.
Xu Qingshui asked, “Do you want to sign today? I’m ready whenever.” She paused. “I’ll go out first. You should take a shower. I’m really sorry about yesterday.”
“If you have any other requests, just name them. As compensation, I will try my best to satisfy them all.”
Fu Jinghua was dazed. …Xu Qingshui really had changed. Before, the woman never apologized, let alone cared about her thoughts. It has to be another ‘hard to get’ tactic.
On the other side of the door, Xu Qingshui was nowhere near as calm as she appeared.
Having lived a clean life for over twenty years, she had somehow ended up in bed with someone—and technically, she had been the one to initiate the “marking.”
Thinking about why the original owner was allowed near Fu Jinghua gave her a headache. There was no emotional foundation; the union was built on coercion and moral kidnapping. Logically, Fu Jinghua should loathe her.
If it were just that, it might be manageable, but the original owner was a piece of work. While trying to scheme her way into Fu Jinghua’s life, she had a “girlfriend” on the side. The girlfriend didn’t even like her—she was just in it for the money. In fact, the idea to drug the wine had come from that girlfriend.
Everyone around the original owner, including the owner herself, was a terrible person.
Xu Qingshui had no one to vent her frustrations to. The only silver lining was that she didn’t actually dislike Fu Jinghua.
Realizing there was no point in overthinking, she forced herself to calm down. As long as she provided appropriate compensation, this could pass. Everything else she would handle one by one.
She leaned against the door, feeling stifled. Not wanting to sit, she found a lady’s cigarette and took a puff, blowing out a ring of smoke that quickly dissipated.
This was the scene Fu Jinghua walked out to.
She froze. Before she could speak, Xu Qingshui looked up, saw her, and immediately stubbed out the cigarette. She asked hesitantly, “Um… do you want to see a doctor? Or I could apply some medicine for you? If you’re uncomfortable with that, you can do it yourself.”
The marks on Fu Jinghua’s neck looked quite alarming. Even though Xu Qingshui wasn’t trying to be provocative, the sight reminded Fu Jinghua of how “pitifully” she had been bullied last night. Even if it hadn’t been the Alpha’s original intent, the reality was that it happened.
Thinking of last night, Fu Jinghua’s face flushed. She had never suffered such an indignity. Her breath hitched with anger. Her light-colored eyes took on a reddish tint. Her tone was icy: “You certainly are thick-skinned. Pull your pheromones back.”
Xu Qingshui paused. Out of guilt, she ignored the insult. Seeing the flush on the woman’s face and knowing that Fu Jinghua was easily “induced” by her, she understood the anger.
She said, “I… don’t know how to pull back pheromones.”
Fu Jinghua took a deep breath. She didn’t believe for a second that an Alpha wouldn’t know how to control their scent. She suspected Xu Qingshui was doing it on purpose, because a “marked” person has an intensely heightened reaction to the pheromones of the one who marked them.
She gritted her teeth: “Relax your body, then slowly draw them back in.”
Xu Qingshui tried for a long time. She was certain her emotions were stable, yet Fu Jinghua’s face was getting redder and redder. Clearly, the pheromones were still out there.
Xu Qingshui looked at Fu Jinghua and spoke quickly before the woman could explode: “I think I really need to call a private doctor.”
“I can’t get my pheromones back in.”
The scent of brandy continued to drift shamelessly into Fu Jinghua’s nose.
