A Vicious Scum Alpha in a Heartthrob Novel - Chapter 5
Fu Jinghua could feel Xu Qingshui’s satisfaction with her. If it were otherwise, the Alpha wouldn’t still be standing there.
It was the unspoken “willingness” between two adults. Laying it all bare often kills the ambiguity—and the freedom of not having to be responsible later.
Xu Qingshui felt the same. A contract was a contract, but there was no reason to turn down a meal already served. Her attitude toward life had always been like this: dashing and free, yet, to a certain extent, not quite rational.
“Fine.”
Without a second of hesitation or asking for a reason, Xu Qingshui leaned into the crook of Fu Jinghua’s neck and lightly brushed it with the tip of her tongue.
Since she had received consent, she no longer had to inject pheromones like a starving wolf. Instead, she could smell first, touch a little, and finally… take a bite.
A muffled groan escaped Fu Jinghua’s nose. “…Lighter.”
Xu Qingshui softened her touch.
Although this wasn’t the first time Fu Jinghua had been marked by Xu Qingshui, the sensation was entirely different. If the Alpha had been a wolf last time, this time she felt like a well-fed fox. Because she was full, she wasn’t in a hurry to tear into her prey. Instead, she touched her step by step, slowly, creating a lingering itch in Fu Jinghua’s heart that was hard to put into words.
Eventually, Fu Jinghua let out another groan, her voice tinged with annoyance: “Are you even an Alpha?”
Most Alphas would find such a remark unbearable, but Xu Qingshui didn’t get angry. She continued to tenderly stroke the woman’s gland. Only when Fu Jinghua’s body went completely limp did Xu Qingshui wrap an arm around her waist and gently—ever so gently—inject her pheromones.
“Whether I am or not… you know the answer now.”
The night felt exceptionally long, yet passed in the blink of an eye. It was a dreamlike state, making one indulge in a fantasy that could shatter at any moment.
The next morning, Xu Qingshui woke to find Fu Jinghua gone. She stared thoughtfully at the empty space beside her. Just last night, it had been filled with the rich, intoxicating scent of roses. The fragrance had been so mesmerizing that she hadn’t even noticed when the woman left, realizing her own alertness had dropped significantly.
After a while, Xu Qingshui got out of bed and walked out of the room. To her surprise, someone was in the living room. Fu Jinghua was already fully dressed and composed, sitting in a chair and drinking milk.
A faint smile touched Xu Qingshui’s lips, though it vanished quickly. She teased, “I thought you’d run off first thing in the morning.”
Fu Jinghua glanced at her and took a sip of milk. “Sit.”
Xu Qingshui raised an eyebrow. She’s not angry?
She sat in the chair opposite Fu Jinghua. Only then did she notice an agreement on the table. Fu Jinghua pushed it toward her. “I’ve revised the contract. Take a look. If it’s suitable, sign it.”
Xu Qingshui took the document. Her eyes flickered with amusement as she keenly noticed that the clause regarding “no physical contact” had been removed. It was replaced by a new one:
[When Fu Jinghua has a need, the other party must provide soothing.]
Xu Qingshui let out a light laugh, her posture relaxing. she stared at the woman’s face with interest. “Ms. Fu, this is quite a departure from our previous agreement. You have to tell me why, or I’ll feel like a ‘Mongolian’ here.”
Fu Jinghua frowned. “What do you mean, Mongolian?”
Xu Qingshui explained, “Someone kept in the dark”
Fu Jinghua asked, “Are you telling jokes now?”
Xu Qingshui nodded solemnly. “Yes.”
Fu Jinghua: “…”
Xu Qingshui cleared her throat, quietly diffusing the awkwardness. She met Fu Jinghua’s gaze and turned serious. “Back to business. Can you tell me the reason? In any case, I believe I have the right to know.”
Fu Jinghua lowered her gaze. She didn’t plan to tell Xu Qingshui everything, but the Alpha clearly wasn’t someone easy to fool. After thinking it over, she gave a half-truth: “My pheromones have an evolutionary effect on Alphas. At the same time, I find most pheromones repulsive or disgusting. That’s why I’ve been single until now.”
Xu Qingshui paused, silently gauging the honesty of the statement. “Go on.”
“Your pheromones are highly concentrated, and I don’t find them repulsive. My heat cycles are difficult to endure, and unexpected situations can be dangerous. Besides, we are legally married, and Grandmother likes you. I think you are… suitable.”
Xu Qingshui understood. To put it simply: based on current conditions, she was the best option. It had nothing to do with love; it was just the optimal solution after weighing pros and cons.
Xu Qingshui wasn’t actually averse to this, especially since she didn’t dislike the woman. However, she hated trouble. She knew her own temperament and usually avoided seeking it out. This was especially true since this was a novel, where all stories have a predestined ending. Fu Jinghua was the protagonist.
The first incident with Fu Jinghua could be called an accident; the ones following were purely due to her own lack of self-restraint. Fu Jinghua was a “trouble” to her. According to the plot, Fu’s “heartthrob” status would cause her to experience all sorts of strange events. If Xu Qingshui really decided to stick with this agreement, she would have to pay more attention to these matters.
Xu Qingshui pondered, her jade-like fingers unconsciously tapping the table—a habit whenever she was deep in thought.
Fu Jinghua watched her fingers, feeling a strange sense of doubt. She had expected Xu Qingshui to agree without hesitation. But the reality was different. After marking her so many times, Xu Qingshui was actually hesitating.
Fu Jinghua felt an urge to snatch the contract back. Her narrow phoenix eyes flashed with anger. “You’re unwilling?”
Even if she knew Xu Qingshui might not be as filthy as she once imagined, she never thought the Alpha would refuse her. Or rather, she never thought anyone would refuse her.
Xu Qingshui was the first.
In reality, Xu Qingshui hadn’t said a word yet. Looking at Fu Jinghua’s nearly fire-spitting eyes, she couldn’t help but let her own eyes crinkle with a smile. So cute. She had to admit, the woman hit every one of her aesthetic preferences.
Xu Qingshui hated trouble, but she wasn’t afraid of it. It was a fair exchange of needs—plus, their bodies were incredibly compatible.
She flipped through the contract to see if anything needed adjusting. Suddenly, she found an issue. “I can take care of you without reservation when you have a need, but you don’t have to be responsible when I have a need? This seems a bit unfair to me.”
Fu Jinghua paused. Honestly, she hadn’t thought about that before Xu Qingshui mentioned it. It did sound unfair. But frankly, considering Xu Qingshui’s past number of girlfriends, she still felt it was a bit “dirty.”
Fu Jinghua took a deep breath. “Don’t you still have many girlfriends?”
Xu Qingshui: “…”
She had almost forgotten. The original owner’s romantic history was an absolute train wreck. She rubbed her nose awkwardly. “After being with you, I’ve broken up with all of them.”
God, why does that sound like a typical scumbag’s line?
Fu Jinghua let out a cold huff, her gaze skeptical. “How many people have you said that to?”
Xu Qingshui answered instinctively: “No one. Just you.”
Damn it, it sounds even more like a line now. Xu Qingshui shut her mouth.
A mocking smile touched Fu Jinghua’s lips. Clearly, she didn’t believe her. “Regardless of how much truth is in your words, I don’t care about your little lovers outside. However, I must remind you: while you are with me, you cannot see others.”
With the original owner’s reputation, Xu Qingshui was at a loss for words. She could only say, “I’m not that kind of person. We’ve spent this much time together; you shouldn’t still look at me through such a negative filter.”
Fu Jinghua laughed sharply but said nothing.
Xu Qingshui: “…”
“I’m serious. I’m actually very clean and self-disciplined.”
Fu Jinghua: “Heh.”
Seeing that reaction, a spark of irritation rose in Xu Qingshui. She sat up straight and raised an eyebrow. “You don’t believe me?”
Fu Jinghua countered, “If it were you, would you believe it?”
Xu Qingshui’s irritation vanished instantly. She was a rational person; objectively speaking, given her reputation, it made sense that Fu Jinghua wouldn’t believe her. They hadn’t known each other long enough to change that deep-seated perception. It seemed her attempt had failed.
She went back to reading the agreement seriously, missing the probing look Fu Jinghua was giving her.
“Also, this one: ‘Must not show too much intimacy in public.’ Am I that embarrassing to be seen with? I remember we have a show to record; I think this one can be deleted.”
“This one: ‘Must cooperate with you unconditionally in public.’ This is practically a bully clause. Delete it.”
“And this: ‘Cannot intervene in each other’s lives without permission.’ I think this is unreasonable and needs a supplementary clause. In case you—” she paused to rephrase, “—in case we have any emergencies, I think intervention should be allowed at appropriate times.”
“This one…”
Xu Qingshui offered her opinions seriously, though her tone carried a hint of a complaint. Even if it was just an agreement, she cared about her partner’s opinion of her.
Fu Jinghua withdrew her gaze. she had thought Xu Qingshui would get angry, but surprisingly, she didn’t flare up. She wasn’t an unreasonable person. Fu Jinghua thought it over and decided she should indeed make some concessions. “Fine. Everything you said, I agree to.”
There were no more issues with the agreement. Without hesitation, Xu Qingshui proactively extended her hand. “Deal.”
It was her habit—when a partnership begins, it should have the formality of a beginning.
Fu Jinghua looked at the well-defined fingers, lowered her eyes, and shook her hand. “A pleasant cooperation.”
Even knowing the woman wasn’t a good person, Fu Jinghua had no other choice right now, because Xu Qingshui had exactly what she wanted.
