A Vicious Supporting Female is the Female Lead's Darling (GL) - Chapter 11
She actually said goodnight to her.
Du Qingqing froze, her expression blank for a moment. It took her quite a while standing under the building to snap out of it, her earlobes and cheeks flushing red like the sunset glow.
She completely forgot to respond, only remembering what she wanted to do just as Su Jimian was about to move away from the window.
She had to… record this. It would be such a waste not to record a moment of such commemorative significance.
With that thought, Du Qingqing secretly signaled the System to hit the record button.
Then she raised her hand, waving in Su Jimian’s direction, and asked, “What did you just say?”
“Say it one more time!” she called out, the corners of her lips curving up and her eyes sparkling. “I couldn’t hear you clearly just now!”
She actually put on a pretty convincing act, if one ignored the smile in her eyes that she couldn’t quite hide.
Su Jimian rested her cheek on her hand and quickly realized what was happening. Her eyebrows twitched slightly. Looking down at the frantically waving Du Qingqing, a certain playful calculation slowly surfaced in her heart.
She simply waved back and said, “Why don’t you stand a bit closer, Miss Jin?”
“Sure!” As soon as she said it, Du Qingqing obediently took a few more steps forward. “You can say it now, I’ll definitely hear you this time!”
She was ready to record! A rare “goodnight” had to be preserved as a souvenir.
Du Qingqing blinked, her mind racing with secret anticipation as she waited for Su Jimian to speak.
The result? The “goodnight” never came. Instead, the smile in Su Jimian’s eyes deepened.
Her lips parted slightly, and her beautiful eyes fixed on Du Qingqing’s face as she slowly, very softly, breathed out two words.
The movement was seen, but no sound was heard.
Du Qingqing was stunned. She blinked and quickly cupped a hand behind her ear, squinting and pursing her lips in an exaggerated attempt to hear. “What did you say?”
She looked exactly like a centenarian with failing hearing.
Su Jimian didn’t speak. She just smirked, gave a small nod, and quickly retreated from the window.
She left Du Qingqing with nothing but endless silence, darkness, and a family of mosquitoes buzzing around her.
Du Qingqing slapped a mosquito dead, frowned, and retreated to her car. She asked the System with great bewilderment, “What did she just say?”
The System immediately burst out laughing. “She called you an idiot.”
Du Qingqing: “???”
“Seriously?” Du Qingqing’s spirits deflated instantly. She let out a long sigh and got into the car. “How could she be like that?”
She felt a bit embarrassed. Knowing this wasn’t exactly a “proud” moment, she asked the System tentatively in her mind, “Sys, you didn’t record that, did you?”
She even used an endearing nickname, but the System gave her zero face.
“Of course I recorded it,” the System said, cheerful and giggling. “How could I not record such a ‘commemorative’ moment?”
“I’ll play it for you right now~” Without waiting for Du Qingqing to protest, it hit the playback button.
Immediately, it was as if a loudspeaker had been turned on inside Du Qingqing’s brain, playing those two words in high-fidelity surround sound: “Idiot… idiot… idiot…”
Du Qingqing: “…” Master, stop the chanting!
She was miserable. After several failed threats to make the System turn it off, she finally had to give up. She declared she was breaking off her friendship with the System for ten minutes to express her dissatisfaction.
The farce didn’t truly end until she got home.
Today had been quite exhausting. After dinner, Du Qingqing watched a movie on the projector for a bit. Feeling sleepy, she went to the bathroom to wash up and got into bed.
Before sleeping, she specifically checked the calendar. Su Jimian’s school term was starting in a few days. She decided she’d go out tomorrow to buy some school supplies and keep them ready, waiting for the right moment to give them to her.
With those thoughts, drowsiness quickly washed over her. Du Qingqing stretched, hugged the plush doll designed by Comrade “Chidan,” and slowly drifted off.
A good dream all night.
The next morning, Du Qingqing woke up early. After washing up, she picked out a well-fitting outfit. She sat at the table and ate the healthy, nutritious breakfast prepared by the kitchen, then got ready to head to the mall.
She deliberately wore a set of relatively inexpensive clothes today. Her chestnut-colored wavy hair was pulled back into a simple, youthful ponytail, attempting to make herself look less conspicuous.
After all, she was only going to the mall in the city center, not some luxury boutique. While she had considered buying expensive gifts for Su Jimian, she was afraid the girl wouldn’t accept them. Furthermore, high prices don’t always mean high quality, and Su Jimian might not be used to them. Better to buy something suitable; comfort was the priority.
Satisfied, Du Qingqing tidied her appearance in the mirror and turned to leave.
Just as she drove her “beloved car” out of the garage, she looked up and saw an extremely familiar sight.
Still three people: Zhang Xinyuan forcing his way in, Uncle Liu jogging to stop him, and the sidekick daydreaming. Except for the location, everything was identical to two days ago.
Du Qingqing: “…Did someone accidentally hit the replay button or something?”
She sighed, feeling a wave of annoyance. She didn’t know what Zhang Xinyuan was doing here again today.
She glanced at him, then signaled Uncle Liu to stop. She climbed out of her car to confront him. “Zhang Xinyuan, what exactly do you want?!”
Snapping at him again! Zhang Xinyuan was startled.
But when he looked up and saw her outfit today and the “little car” behind her, his shock hit a new high.
In just a few days, how far had she fallen?! Look at what she was wearing! Look at what she was driving!
Zhang Xinyuan couldn’t understand it. He stood there with one hand on his hip, stewing in silence for a while.
Strangely, ever since leaving the convenience store that night, Zhang Xinyuan had been dreaming for several days in a row. He usually had dreamless nights. It wasn’t the dreaming itself that was weird, but the content of the dreams.
He kept dreaming about the moment Du Qingqing saved him that night!
Which part of my brain is malfunctioning!
Confused and depressed, he couldn’t sit still at home anymore. He had to come over to investigate. Was there some kind of voodoo at Jin Ruge’s place, or had she cast a spell on him?
Du Qingqing stood there watching him. Though she couldn’t read his thoughts, she could guess seventy or eighty percent based on his expression. Her brows furrowed.
Seeing that several more minutes of her time were being wasted, she sighed and looked at Zhang Xinyuan, prepared to keep it short. “Do you actually have a reason for being here today?”
“Can’t I come see you without a reason?” Zhang Xinyuan huffed, stepping forward until they were eye-to-eye. “It’s been a few days. I actually missed you, Ruge.”
A blatant lie. Can’t you just be an honest person? Du Qingqing felt disgusted. She curled her lips into a smile and shook her head. “Well, I didn’t miss you.”
Zhang Xinyuan: “…”
A wave of awkwardness rose from his heart. He coughed and forced a subject change. “Is this the new car you bought, Ruge?”
Du Qingqing: “Yes.”
Zhang Xinyuan: “Are the seats inlaid with gold?”
Du Qingqing: “???” Why does that sound so familiar?
She sighed, answering despite her annoyance. “No.”
Zhang Xinyuan asked again, “Is the steering wheel encrusted with diamonds?”
Du Qingqing: “…No.”
Zhang Xinyuan: “Then why did you buy it?!”
Du Qingqing: “Because I like it! Is that not allowed? I like it!”
Why does everyone ask me the same thing? Am I really that shallow? She realized he was just here to make trouble out of nothing again. She shook her head, unwilling to waste more time. “If you don’t have anything important, I’m leaving. I’m busy.”
She put her hand on the car door.
Zhang Xinyuan hurriedly blocked her. “What are you going to do now?”
“I really don’t understand you lately,” he said, looking hurt. “You used to tell me everything you were doing. It’s been like that since we were kids…”
Since we were kids. If he hadn’t mentioned that, it might have been fine.
Although Du Qingqing was a transmigrator, she had the original owner’s memories. She could clearly see what happened in the past.
Every time, it was the original owner following humbly behind Zhang Xinyuan. She grew her hair long because he said he liked long hair. Her wardrobe was full of white dresses because he said he liked white. She stood on a small stool to learn how to cook chicken wings because he said he liked them.
It was laughable. The original owner was actually quite talented at singing, but because Zhang Xinyuan said he liked “peace and quiet,” she never showed off her voice again.
What a humble, self-sacrificing person she was, all because she fell for someone who didn’t like her back. Yet, that person refused to reject her clearly, stringing her along for various reasons, giving her endless hope only to crush it with endless disappointment.
Du Qingqing was not the original owner. she wouldn’t try to cater to Zhang Xinyuan anymore.
As soon as he finished speaking, she curled her lips into a smile. “I’ve forgotten everything from the past. Don’t mention it to me again.”
“The current me is a brand new me,” she said, reaching out to shove Zhang Xinyuan aside so he wouldn’t block her path. She sat back in her car. “Don’t come looking for me if it’s not important. I’m busy.”
She restarted the car and vanished in a cloud of dust.
Zhang Xinyuan stood alone for a long time. Eventually, he reached up and covered his face.
His sidekick, thinking he was about to cry, coughed. “It’s okay, Young Master. There are plenty of fish in the sea. With your conditions, why do you have to—”
He stopped halfway. When he looked down at Zhang Xinyuan’s face, he was startled.
Wait, did he go crazy? Why is my Young Master’s face suddenly so red?!
