A Vicious Supporting Female is the Female Lead's Darling (GL) - Chapter 7
Zhang Xinyuan was nearly choked with rage by Du Qingqing’s “little brother” comment.
He blinked, his confusion and anger reaching a peak at that moment, accompanied by a wave of embarrassment that turned even the base of his neck red.
His face stung—the “face-slapping” had come fast and without warning!
Seeing the person in front of him looking at him with such a mocking expression, his anger flared again. After holding it in for a few seconds, he finally couldn’t help but snap, “Jin Ruge, you really are being completely unreasonable today!”
He still left himself a way out, specifically emphasizing the word “today.” Talk about a strong survival instinct.
Du Qingqing really wanted to laugh, but she tried her best to maintain a straight face. She reached out, patted Zhang Xinyuan on the shoulder, and told him, “It seems this place is even less suited for you. Since it’s still early, you should just go home.”
She was already kicking him out!
Zhang Xinyuan’s brows furrowed in indignation. “Ruge, you—!”
“I’m also doing this to protect you,” Du Qingqing smiled, returning his own words to him verbatim. “The outside world is too chaotic. You are too young and naive.”
Zhang Xinyuan: “…”
He felt like he might actually die of anger right here today.
Seeing more and more people entering the convenience store, Zhang Xinyuan couldn’t afford to lose any more face and was forced to retreat for now. He gave Du Qingqing a heartbroken look, then waved his hand and turned to leave.
He couldn’t help muttering as he went: “I can’t talk sense into you today. I’ll talk to you later!”
He left grumbling the whole way.
“Take care!” Du Qingqing stood in place and waved toward his departing figure. Only when she could no longer see a trace of him did she finally drop her hand.
The “cool girl” expression she had been maintaining immediately crumbled. She looked down at the hand she had used to brace the shelf, and then suddenly started screaming at the System in her head: “Sys! I played myself!”
The System jumped: “What happened? What happened?”
Du Qingqing held up her swollen, bright red hand for it to see: “It’s swollen!”
“Turns out there’s a tax on acting cool!”
This was the first time Du Qingqing had been so imposing since arriving in this world, but the “coolness” didn’t even last three seconds. The price of her bravado was a hand that had instantly turned into a pig’s trotter.
Du Qingqing was so upset that tears nearly came to her eyes. She sighed, feeling that she might not be able to finish the work Su Jimian had assigned her for the time being. She sat in a corner to rest, thinking maybe it would feel better in a bit, and then she could get back to work.
She even joked with the System: “Look at how hardworking and enduring I am. Sacrificing myself for the mission—doesn’t this excellent quality deserve praise?”
System: “So? What are you trying to do now?”
Du Qingqing said solemnly: “Record another work-related injury!”
After all, there were subsidies for work injuries. No matter how small, it could help replace some of the bonus money she had lost from dying.
The System was speechless, but it eventually took out its monitoring notebook and wrote: One work-related injury.
Du Qingqing was overjoyed. “Sys, you’re the best! I’ll treat you to chips later!”
The System didn’t stand on ceremony: “Buy me one case of every flavor, okay?”
Du Qingqing: “…” You are way too greedy!
She shook her head, wanting to say more, but then she saw Su Jimian walk out from behind a shelf not far away. Du Qingqing instantly went into “coward mode,” instinctively turning her face away to avoid eye contact.
But her mouth didn’t stop. She hurriedly explained, “I’m not, I’m not slacking off! My shoelace just came undone, I’m just sitting here to tie it…”
Her survival instinct was even stronger than Zhang Xinyuan’s.
The System was speechless and glanced at her feet. “Wake up, your shoes don’t have laces.”
Du Qingqing: “Huh?”
She was startled and quickly looked down. Realizing the shoes she wore today indeed didn’t have laces, cold sweat broke out on her temples. As Su Jimian drew closer, her mind raced for another excuse.
Just as she was about to come up with one, she peeked up and saw Su Jimian actually quickening her pace.
Wait, why is she accelerating?!
Du Qingqing panicked and stammered, “Fine, fine, I’m going back to work, right now…”
Before she could finish, Su Jimian was standing right in front of her.
Du Qingqing: “…” Why does my head lower itself so automatically?
She cleared her throat, not daring to look at Su Jimian, but her body instinctively stood up to slip away. However, she didn’t succeed. In the next second, Su Jimian grabbed her hand.
Her cold expression softened for a moment. A pair of beautiful, deep eyes stared at her as she asked softly, “How did this happen?”
She had actually noticed.
Du Qingqing froze, then smiled awkwardly, reaching up to scratch her hair. “I just accidentally bumped it, it’s nothing.”
In response, Su Jimian let out a barely audible: “Idiot.”
Then, before Du Qingqing could say anything else, Su Jimian turned and walked in the opposite direction, leaving Du Qingqing standing there alone.
Du Qingqing: “…She just called me an idiot.”
System: “Yep, she just called you an idiot.”
Both the human and the System were dazed. They watched Su Jimian walk away quickly, then watched as she returned just as fast with a bag of ice. She handed it to Du Qingqing with a cold face and said, “Hold this against it.”
“Oh, okay, okay.” Du Qingqing nodded repeatedly, taking the ice pack and placing it on her hand, acting as obedient as possible.
But in her mind, she was chattering away to the System. “I’m a bit shocked. I didn’t expect Su Jimian to be quite gentle.”
The rest of the work was done by Su Jimian. As an “injured patient,” Du Qingqing was stripped of her right to help and could only sit and watch.
However, she didn’t leave. She shamelessly stayed in the convenience store with Su Jimian the whole day, doing small tasks like refilling her water or handing her things. She waited until Su Jimian finally got off work.
Finally, freedom!
Du Qingqing was overjoyed. She watched happily as Su Jimian finished the handover with Yang Xiaoyue, then went outside to get her car. Sitting in the luxury vehicle, she curled her finger at Su Jimian. “Get in. It’s on my way; I’ll give you a ride home.”
A beautiful woman in a luxury car was quite a sight, drawing many gazes from passersby. But Su Jimian was clearly uninterested. She only asked, “Is your hand okay now?”
“It’s fine.” Du Qingqing shook her head, turning her hand over to show her. Then she used her other hand to give it a squeeze. “See? No problem at all. I’m completely healed.”
“Then there’s no need,” Su Jimian replied. she began walking forward, bathed in the glow of the streetlights. She tilted her chin slightly, her face looking incredibly beautiful. “Your car is too conspicuous.”
Du Qingqing couldn’t argue with that. She sighed and looked down at the steering wheel, muttering to herself, “Fine, I’ll switch to a cheaper one tomorrow.”
The life of the rich is just that monotonous and willful.
Su Jimian’s mouth twitched at the comment. She looked at Du Qingqing muttering in the car and finally stopped walking. However, she didn’t open the door. She just leaned down outside the window, looking at Du Qingqing.
After a long silence, she even let her lips curl into a light laugh that sounded like a feather brushing against the heart. She asked, “Miss Jin, what exactly do you want?”
Her voice was surprisingly not that cold.
Du Qingqing was stunned. It took her a while to answer: “I want to apologize to you sincerely and have you forgive me. And I want… to be your friend.” After speaking, she reached her hand out the window—she was holding a bag of chips.
Su Jimian was confused. “What’s this for?”
“To show my sincerity,” Du Qingqing stammered. “Please, have some.”
Who tries to make friends by giving them a bag of chips? Su Jimian thought it was hilarious and mocked her silently. But this time, she didn’t refuse. She slowly reached out and took the bag of chips.
The night wind was cool, making her fingertips feel chilly, but when they touched, it triggered a strange chemical reaction.
Du Qingqing was overjoyed, her eyes lighting up. She leaned against the window and said, “Great! You took them. Since you took my chips, tell me your name.” She added with a touch of regret, “I still don’t know your name.”
Actually, she knew it. But to make friends, one must follow the proper procedures to make it seem more formal.
Du Qingqing waited with a smile and a hopeful gaze. Finally, Su Jimian spoke, telling her: “My name is Ji Sumian.”
Du Qingqing almost tripped over her tongue.
Really? Is your sense of caution that high?!
She was speechless for a split second, but a tactic quickly came to mind. “I see! Then from now on, I’ll just call you Mianmian~”
Whether it was Su Jimian or Ji Sumian, it was still Mianmian.
Du Qingqing was happy and cheerful. She reached out, grabbed Su Jimian’s hand, and shook it vigorously. “Let me introduce myself too. My surname is Jin, and my full name is Jin Geru.”
Seriously, who doesn’t know how to do permutations and combinations?
