A Vicious Supporting Female is the Female Lead's Darling (GL) - Chapter 9
The mornings of the rich are always dull and monotonous.
Du Qingqing finished breakfast at the dining table, admired the haute couture clothes the servants had retrieved for her the previous night, and then wandered into the game room to play video games for a while. She glanced at the clock; it wasn’t even ten yet.
This is so boring!
She had no idea how the original Jin Ruge managed to spend her days.
“Go find Su Jimian,” the System suggested, sensing her thoughts. “See her more, talk to her more. Maybe you can cultivate some feelings. Once the relationship is established, won’t the mission be easier?”
That sounds lovely in theory.
Du Qingqing felt a chill run down her spine and shook her head quickly. “I shouldn’t go over right now. She was clearly in a bad mood last night. I’m afraid if I go, I’ll annoy her and all my previous efforts will go down the drain.”
“I’ll wait until she gets off work,” she said, leaning back on the sofa with her hands behind her head. Her voice was light. “When the time comes, I’ll go pick—”
The word “pick” hadn’t even left her mouth when Du Qingqing froze. Then, her charming big eyes blinked, and a sudden spark of inspiration flashed through them. “Oh! How could I forget about that!”
The System was confused: “Forget what?”
“A big task!” Du Qingqing smiled mysteriously and quickly sat up from the sofa. She threw on her jacket, grabbed her small bag, and walked out, her long hair swinging in a graceful arc. “I’m going to buy a small car.”
After all… Su Jimian had complained last night that her current car was too conspicuous.
In that case, she would simply switch to something plain and low-profile.
Du Qingqing had a general direction in mind. She declined the butler’s offer to have someone drive her and hailed a taxi straight to her destination. She looked at cars, negotiated the price, handled the paperwork, and picked up the vehicle. She managed to drive it back before noon.
A white Chery (x-rui) slowly came to a stop in front of everyone.
Uncle Liu was practically speechless. He stood there, his shock beyond words. He stepped forward to open the door for Du Qingqing and whispered, “Miss, is this the new car you bought?”
Du Qingqing nodded. “Yep.”
Uncle Liu: “Are the seats inlaid with gold?”
Du Qingqing: “No.”
Uncle Liu: “Is the steering wheel encrusted with diamonds?”
Du Qingqing shook her head. “Not either.”
“Then,” Uncle Liu was baffled, “Miss, why did you buy it?”
“I bought it because I felt like it.” Du Qingqing smiled and patted Uncle Liu on the shoulder, her voice lowered. “If I have to give a reason, let’s just say it’s for investment.”
Uncle Liu: “…” This was the first time he had heard of this kind of “investment.”
He watched dazed as his Young Lady ordered the center spot of the garage to be cleared out to park her new “beloved car.” She happily took photos to commemorate it and announced that she would mainly drive this one from now on, and they could use the rest of the luxury cars to go buy groceries.
It would be a lie to say they weren’t scared. They truly wondered if their Young Lady had bumped her head somewhere.
At 7:00 PM, Du Qingqing arrived punctually at the convenience store and parked her car. Her timing was perfect; Su Jimian and Yang Xiaoyue had just finished their handover.
Because she had been coming so frequently lately, Yang Xiaoyue already recognized her. Assuming she was Su Jimian’s friend or some distant relative, Xiaoyue raised a hand to greet her.
Du Qingqing nodded and returned a friendly smile. Although she was a goofball on the inside, she was quite good at “acting the part” in front of outsiders.
Yang Xiaoyue didn’t know her true personality; she only saw her beautiful face, tall figure, sexy physique, and the undeniable aura of nobility she carried—even if she was driving a Chery today.
The logic of rich people is truly hard to understand, but if she’s doing this, she must have her reasons.
Yang Xiaoyue nodded, finished her self-hypnosis, and her doubts vanished, replaced once again by admiration. She took advantage of the gap while Su Jimian was packing her things to pour Du Qingqing a glass of water and strike up a conversation.
“What’s your name? Are you Mianmian’s friend? I see you looking for her all the time lately. You even stepped up when she was in danger last time; you two must have a great relationship…”
She rambled on. Du Qingqing’s head ached from the questions. After a moment of silence, she simply said, “We’re friends.”
Before Yang Xiaoyue could speak again, Du Qingqing took control of the conversation. “How has her mood been lately, before I arrived?”
It would be a lie to say she wasn’t worried. Although their relationship was technically tense according to the script, and Du Qingqing was afraid of her for various reasons, concern still existed. Especially after seeing Su Jimian’s furrowed brows and cold eyes last night, that concern had deepened. She feared the girl had run into some trouble.
Fortunately, Yang Xiaoyue spoke up quickly: “I feel like she’s fine.”
“I got here after five,” she said. “Mianmian is pretty much the same as usual. If I had to say there’s a difference, maybe she’s just a bit quieter?”
Quiet?
Du Qingqing paused, a guess floating in her heart. She felt that Su Jimian might still be unhappy. She would try to cheer her up while driving her home—provided the girl was willing to sit in her “little car.”
Du Qingqing thought about it awkwardly and sighed awkwardly. Before she could take an awkward sip of water, she looked up and saw Su Jimian had finished packing.
Du Qingqing immediately straightened up like an antenna. She thanked Yang Xiaoyue and was standing in front of Su Jimian in a heartbeat.
She timed her words perfectly: “Hard work today.”
The System immediately mocked her in her mind: “What a simp!”
Du Qingqing was too busy to pay attention. She followed Su Jimian outside, carefully judging her facial expression and confirming that she indeed looked unhappy.
Just then, they arrived at the car.
“Let me drive you tonight?” Du Qingqing took the opportunity to pull open the passenger door. She curled her lips into an expectant smile as she looked at Su Jimian. “Look, I made a special trip, and I even swapped the car for something inconspicuous. Won’t you give a friend some face?”
She crooked a finger at Su Jimian, her eyes sparkling and her smile warm. The “unapproachable” aura she usually wore vanished, replaced by a soft, welcoming glow.
Su Jimian instinctively raised an eyebrow. A strange emotion stirred in her heart; she hadn’t expected the woman to actually swap cars just because of one comment she made last night.
Spending so much effort and money, wasting so many days on her… Su Jimian wondered what this person actually wanted. It couldn’t possibly be as simple as just wanting to be friends.
Su Jimian was suddenly curious. After a moment of silence, the rejection she intended to voice didn’t come out. Instead, she said softly, “Okay.”
As soon as she spoke, she got in before Du Qingqing could say another word. Du Qingqing froze in shock for a few seconds before screaming to the System in her mind: “She got in! SHE GOT IN!”
The System sighed: “Yes, she did.”
“Looks like I swapped the right car.” Du Qingqing nodded and quickly got in. She smiled at Su Jimian and started the engine. She felt like she had taken a giant step toward completing her mission.
Since the handover had been fast, it wasn’t too late. The sun was just about to set, the streetlights weren’t on yet, and the afterglow of the sunset bathed everything in a beautiful hue.
Such scenery should have been pleasant, but the Su Jimian beside her clearly wasn’t in a good mood. The more Du Qingqing looked at her, the more uncomfortable she felt. She felt she should say something.
Maybe start with the scenery. It’s so beautiful; looking at it will definitely make her feel better.
Thinking this, she nodded. While waiting at a red light, she turned to Su Jimian and asked tentatively, “Are you… not very happy?”
“I’m fine.” Su Jimian was surprised she had noticed. She was silent for a few seconds before answering softly, “Why do you ask?”
“It’s nothing,” Du Qingqing shook her head. “I just wanted to tell you, don’t play with your phone too much while in the car, or you might get motion sickness. Besides, the scenery today is so beautiful. I think you should look at it more.”
She tried to describe the beauty she saw to Su Jimian. “Look at the smiles on the people’s faces on the sidewalk, look at the flowing traffic, look at the lingering light of the sunset, look at that little doggie curled up on the curb…”
It even rhymes a bit.
Du Qingqing explained while proudly observing Su Jimian’s expression. However, she soon realized Su Jimian’s gaze wasn’t right. She wasn’t admiring the scenery; she looked like she was watching a joke.
Du Qingqing suddenly sensed something and quickly turned her head to look out the window.
She saw a middle-aged man standing next to her car, working vigorously with a rag and a spray bottle.
The windows were completely covered in soapy foam. You couldn’t see a thing.
So… she had just made Su Jimian stare at nothing for a long time?
The System quickly comforted her in her mind: “Look on the bright side. It wasn’t just nothing.”
Du Qingqing: “Then what else was there?”
System: “You also paid money to let her watch someone ‘whitewash’ your windows.”
“Hurry up and pay the man.” The System finally couldn’t hold back and laughed out loud. “His hand is already reaching in.”
Sure enough, Du Qingqing heard a cheerful voice of a middle-aged man beside her: “Boss, that’ll be fifteen yuan. I take QR codes!”
Du Qingqing: “…”
