Accidentally Picked Up a Rich and Amnesiac Alpha (GL) - Chapter 16
As the two girls walked away, Yan Qingqi could faintly hear their playful chatter. “She’s such a beautiful Alpha, and so aristocratic!”
“She has such a cute personality! I really like her type.”
“Wake up, she’s married.”
“I know, but can’t I just think about it? I’ll get to eat her special lunch tomorrow.”
Even though she only had two customers at the moment, it was enough to make Yan Qingqi feel excited and happy.
She took her takeout home. For lunch, she had ordered fried chicken wings. After eating, she got to work, hunching over her computer to design a menu, calculate costs, and set prices.
She had just observed that the takeout orders ranged from around 70 yuan a portion, with the most expensive being 288 yuan. The cheapest was probably her own, at 32 yuan a portion.
After calculating the costs, Yan Qingqi set the prices and sent a beautifully designed menu image to the group chat, with the ingredients listed for each dish.
A moment later, she received a message in the group: [The menu looks beautiful, and the prices are reasonable. We just don’t know if it’s tasty.]
Yan Qingqi: [It should be tasty.]
[As the boss, why don’t you just say it’s tasty?]
Yan Qingqi: [I’m afraid I might think it’s good, but you might not.]
[We’re in building 24. What time will you deliver tomorrow?]
Yan Qingqi: [I’ll probably start cooking around 12 p.m., then deliver it to your building.]
[You live in building 37, right? What should we call you?]
Yan Qingqi: [Yes, that’s right. My last name is Yan.]
After replying to her customers’ messages, Yan Qingqi started to prepare for tomorrow’s shopping list. She planned to buy fish, side dishes, seasonings, and bitter melon early in the morning. She had beef at home but could also stock up on more.
When she was finished, she looked up at the time. It was already 5:30 p.m., and an entire afternoon had passed without her noticing.
She wondered if her wife had finished filming yet. What time would she be done today?
With that thought, Yan Qingqi began to prepare dinner: six dishes and one soup. She would make smaller portions of each but have a wider variety so that Songsong’s nutrition would be balanced.
By the time she had all the ingredients washed, chopped, and prepared, and the rice was cooking, it was already past 6 p.m.
Yan Qingqi decided to send her wife a message: [Are you off work yet?]
After sending it, Yan Qingqi remembered that it wasn’t called “off work” for her wife—it was called “done for the day.” So she asked again, [What time are you done for the day?]
She waited for half an hour, but no one replied.
Yan Qingqi sat on a chair in the dining room, smelling the aroma of rice wafting from the kitchen.
It smelled so good, and her stomach rumbled in hunger.
The few chicken wings she had for lunch must have gone to food heaven long ago.
Just as she was sitting alone in the dining room, her head drooping and feeling sleepy, her phone vibrated. It was a message from Song Tingxue: [Just finished for the day. I’ll head back after I remove my makeup. I’ll be home in about forty minutes.]
It was 7:15 p.m. now, so her wife would be home around 8 p.m.
Yan Qingqi’s spirits immediately lifted. [Okay, wife. I’ll wait for you to come home and eat.]
Just as she was about to put her phone down, another message came in. Someone had invited a new person into the Hidden Mountain Private Kitchen group.
Newcomer: [Hello, boss. I’d also like to order a portion of stir-fried beef with bitter melon for tomorrow. I live in building 25.]
Yan Qingqi was thrilled to suddenly get another order. She immediately replied, [Okay, I’ll deliver it to you by 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.]
She put on her apron, rolled up her sleeves, and started stir-frying.
Three orders on my first day of business! I am a master chef!
As night fell, a commercial van stopped in front of building 37. Song Tingxue turned to Xiaole. “Come pick me up at the same time tomorrow.”
“Okay, Sister Song.”
Song Tingxue opened the car door and got out. She walked through the small garden in front of the door, and just as her fingers touched the lock, the door opened from the inside.
“Wife, you’re home!” Yan Qingqi’s face lit up, and she welcomed her inside like a puppy. She closed the door, took the bag from Songsong’s hand, placed it on the entryway table, and then turned to take off her wife’s mask before embracing and kissing her.
The cool, snow-like movie queen was gently pulled into the Alpha’s strong arms, and like a kitten with soft paws, she was easily held close.
A sweet and fresh kiss was given.
The kiss was brief, affectionate but not lustful, only pure happiness and joy.
Song Tingxue smiled faintly, taking off her sunglasses and hat. She really liked the way A-Yan waited for her to come home.
“Wife, was filming hard today?”
“It wasn’t too bad.”
Today, Song Tingxue had seven scenes. It wasn’t too many, but not too few either. The most she had ever done in a single day was 11 scenes, working continuously from morning to night. Luckily, the actors in her scenes today did a good job, and there weren’t too many takes. Otherwise, she probably wouldn’t have made it home by now.
“Wife, are you hungry? Go wash your hands. Dinner is ready.”
Song Tingxue washed her hands, fixed her hair, and went to the dining room.
Yan Qingqi brought the dishes out one by one. Song Tingxue saw that the food was beautifully colored and well-plated. She couldn’t help but say, “I just found out today that you’re such a good cook.”
Yan Qingqi said, “You just found out? I must have been slacking off before. I felt pretty happy doing all this today. I must be a hidden master chef.”
The corners of Song Tingxue’s mouth turned up. “Then let me taste the real skills of a master chef today.”
She tasted a piece of fish. It was fresh and tender, and as she ate it, her stomach felt warm. Song Tingxue felt a warmth spreading through her heart.
Before, when she finished filming, she would either go to a hotel or go home, but when she entered the door, it was cold and empty. She would quietly order takeout and stare blankly at the cold and desolate house.
But now, there was someone bustling in the kitchen, who had prepared a table full of food and was waiting for her to come home.
For the first time, Song Tingxue felt like she had a home.
As a child in the orphanage, she often sat by the window, watching the pedestrians walk by in the distance, seeing the children with bright smiles holding their parents’ hands. She would wish for a home, a dad, a mom, or two moms.
Later, she grew up and met the unattainable Miss Yan. She began to have a vague sense of affection.
Then she grew up even more and entered the film industry. She started making movies and putting herself on the screen, in commercials, and on TV, where countless people could see her.
All for one possibility—that Miss Yan might be one of them.
“Wife, is the fish good? Is it tender?”
Song Tingxue came back to reality and looked up into a pair of clean and clear eyes. The Alpha across from her was smiling with a hopeful look in her eyes. Her bright smile was in the corners of her eyes, the wrinkles at the bridge of her nose, and of course, her gentle lips.
The corners of Song Tingxue’s lips curled up. “It’s delicious. The fish is very fresh and tender.”
Yan Qingqi was even happier and put another piece of food on her plate. “Try this too. It’s made with pork loin. It won’t make you gain weight.”
“Mm.” Song Tingxue ate it and smiled at her A-Yan.
At this moment, she was so happy that she felt dizzy.
The person she had never dared to hope for was now sitting across from her, helping her fulfill her only dream—she had a home.
