Accidentally Picked Up a Rich and Amnesiac Alpha (GL) - Chapter 19
Song Tingxue noticed that Yan Qingqi hadn’t touched her breakfast. “Why aren’t you eating?”
Yan Qingqi didn’t mention that she had to fast for her medical examination.
“Ahem, I ate a piece of cake when I was buying coffee. I can’t eat anymore right now, I’ll eat later.”
Song Tingxue didn’t think much of it. “Alright, eat later then. Just don’t eat anything too sweet in the morning.”
“Got it, wife.”
Song Tingxue finished her breakfast and stood up. After the passionate marking and a good night’s sleep, she was radiant today.
Poor sleep was her norm before. She often suffered from insomnia and woke up easily even when she did sleep. But since being with A-Yan, she had slept wonderfully every single night. The best sleeping pills in the world probably couldn’t compare to having her A-Yan by her side.
Snuggling against A-Yan, smelling the cedar scent on her, and feeling every subtle change in A-Yan’s presence.
All of this made Song Tingxue feel as happy as if she were lying on a real cloud of cotton candy.
Song Tingxue smiled, tilted A-Yan’s chin up, bent down, and kissed her on the lips.
The clean, sweet scent—she could never kiss her enough… but she had to go to the set.
“I can’t have dinner with you tonight. I have a social engagement; one of the investors is treating our director and lead actors to dinner.”
As soon as Yan Qingqi heard her wife had a dinner engagement, she immediately became worried. “Wife, do you want me to pick you up?”
“No need. Mr. Xiao, the investor, is a semi-acquaintance. There will be over ten people at the dinner. With so many people around, everything will be fine.”
Yan Qingqi was still uneasy. “Wife, if anything feels off, just call me. I’ll rush over to pick you up immediately.”
Seeing her so anxious and worried, Song Tingxue smiled and stroked her cheek. “I’ll be fine.”
The plane landed in L City, and Jing Michu got off and headed straight for the coffee shop.
Dressed in a high-end custom-made suit, she radiated an imposing aura. Her features were as striking as her cousin’s, with the same fair skin and deep-set, exquisite eyes.
Jing Michu’s appearance at the K-family coffee shop immediately drew the attention of the customers inside. Jing Michu had seen those envious, amazed, and bright gazes countless times. If her cousin, Wen Shuyan, were standing next to her, those people would hesitate between them, and then most of the Omegas’ gazes would settle on her cousin.
“Hello, have you seen this person? She came in around seven this morning.”
Jing Michu pulled up a photo of her cousin from her phone album.
The employee glanced at it and recognized her instantly. “Yes, this person has been here. I recognize her.”
Jing Michu was delighted. “Do you know her name?”
The employee smiled apologetically. “I only know that she places her order under ‘Miss Yan.’ I don’t know her name.”
“When does she usually come?”
“Around 7 a.m. She’s been coming for three or four consecutive days. She had a bandage on her head the first two days, but she wasn’t wearing one today.”
A bandage on her head? Jing Michu was shocked. This made her even more certain that “Miss Yan” was her cousin, Wen Shuyan. She must have been injured and was using “Miss Yan” to protect herself.
“Did she ever mention where she lives?” Jing Michu realized she had asked a strange, overly intrusive question and casually added, “I’m her friend. We haven’t seen each other in years, and I’ve been looking for her. I heard from a friend the day before yesterday that she came here to buy coffee.”
The employee glanced at her with a complicated, slightly sympathetic look.
What kind of friend hasn’t seen the other person in years and is still looking? It was most likely a romantic partner. Unfortunately, even if she finds her, she’ll be disappointed.
The employee still answered, “I don’t know the customer’s private information. She buys two cappuccinos every day. She said her wife likes them.”
Wife?! Jing Michu was so startled that her heart gave a violent lurch.
Jing Michu took a few seconds to compose herself. “Thank you, I understand.”
She pulled out her emergency cash from her bag and took out five hundred yuan. “Give me one of those cappuccinos. The rest is your tip.”
Jing Michu carried the coffee to a bench by the roadside greenery and sat down. She mused that this person looked so much like the photo, had a head bandage, and called herself Miss Yan. It was highly likely to be her cousin.
The problem was, that person has a wife!
Her cousin was single, had been single for years. Forget a wife, she hadn’t even had a single girlfriend.
Jing Michu felt her mind spinning faster. She took a big gulp of coffee, then, as if making a firm decision, pulled out Qiao An’s number and dialed it.
Yan Qingqi rushed home after her medical examination. She quickly ate a few bites of bread and started preparing the ingredients for today’s lunch takeout.
At 11:30 a.m., she started plating the food, and at 11:50 a.m., she drove out to deliver the takeout. The delivery went smoothly, and the food was piping hot when it reached the customers.
Yan Qingqi also told the elite Alpha customer in building 25, “I went for a check-up, and I’m getting a health certificate. It should be ready in a few days.”
She came home and had her usual lunch of leftovers and a serving of vegetable salad.
The feedback from customers in the group chat was great: [The ingredients are extremely fresh], [The fish is so smooth and tender, without any fishy smell], [The tomato soup base must be made from real tomatoes. The flavor is authentic.]
Yan Qingqi looked at today’s gross profit of 290 yuan and smiled so wide her mouth couldn’t close. She felt that her goal of earning money to buy Songsong a gift was within reach.
While Yan Qingqi was happily calculating her earnings, Jing Michu arranged to meet Qiao An at a high-end restaurant.
After half a year, Qiao An noticed that Jing Michu had changed a lot.
The once glamorous and energetic Alpha now looked very tired, her face much paler, and her chin thinner. Her once-sparkling eyes were now filled with worry.
Seeing her again, Qiao An felt a familiar pang of heartache.
She inwardly cursed herself for being weak.
“An An, you’re here.” Jing Michu was delighted. Her eyes lit up. She stood up and invited Qiao An to sit down.
Qiao An had expected to feel awkward, strange, or uncomfortable seeing her ex-girlfriend again, but with that joyful “An An,” she surprisingly felt at ease and relaxed. Her mood instantly improved.
Seeing the other person’s excited, smiling eyes, Qiao An felt even better. She sat down naturally, just as they had done countless times when they ate together.
“Why? Why did you want to see me? Don’t you know we broke up?”
“We broke up, but we’re not enemies. I called you today…” Jing Michu noticed the other person staring intently at her and suddenly felt happy. “Let’s order first.” She ordered a few dishes for the waiter, and Qiao An heard that they were all her favorites.
“Why did you call me?” Qiao An tossed her hair and took a sip of her drink.
Jing Michu watched her silently.
Suddenly, she felt a bit grateful to her cousin. If it weren’t for her, she and Qiao An might never have contacted each other again. Qiao An wouldn’t have called her out of curiosity, and she would certainly never have called Qiao An.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but she wouldn’t know what to say if she did.
She couldn’t bring herself to say things like, Long time no see.
“Thank you for agreeing to meet me today.” Now that they were face-to-face, Jing Michu found that what she wanted to say came out naturally. Jing Michu looked at the other person’s familiar face, and a past gentleness involuntarily shone in her eyes.
She looked at Qiao An and said seriously, “You’re still the same as before. Beautiful and very cute.”
Qiao An hurriedly lowered her head to drink her beverage, hiding the blush that stubbornly crept up her face.
Damn it! Why is this person saying things like this to me!
It’s just a compliment about being beautiful. What’s there to be embarrassed about? I am a great beauty.
“Ahem, you still haven’t told me what this is all about?” Qiao An continued to sip her drink through the straw. The large glass of liquid was almost finished.
She was annoyed, thinking, What if she says, “Long time no see, I just wanted to see you”? Or asks, “How are you? Do you have a girlfriend?” Or maybe even, “I’ve been wanting to see you for a long time.”
How should I reply?
These were the conversations she had rehearsed countless times over the past six months.
“You said you saw my cousin. What exactly is her situation right now?”
Qiao An: “…”
Her heart suddenly felt empty.
So, this was about her cousin, Wen Shuyan.
Qiao An took a deep breath, pretending not to care, and looked up. “You seem very worried about your cousin. That’s strange. Don’t you see her often? Haven’t you been going to her place for free meals recently?”
Jing Michu’s eyes darkened, and a deep sense of frustration emanated from her. “My cousin is missing.”
Qiao An: “!!!”
The dishes were served one by one. Jing Michu briefly explained the events surrounding Wen Shuyan’s disappearance.
“That day, my cousin called me in a hurry and said she might have news about Manman and had to go out, telling me to wait for her message. But she never came back after that, and her phone has been off. Of the two bodyguards she took with her, one was killed, and the other ran away.”
Qiao An’s eyes widened in shock. “How could this happen? What happened?”
Jing Michu shook her head. “I’ve asked friends to investigate. We’ve searched S City and the surrounding areas, but there’s no record of my cousin taking a plane or high-speed train. We just found the car she usually drives parked at the S City port, and her yacht is also gone from the dock. I think my cousin most likely went out to sea.”
Qiao An: “What are you going to do? It’s going to be very hard to find her at sea.”
“I have to find my cousin!” Jing Michu’s eyes were red. “I’m very worried about her. She must have run into trouble this time. It’s more likely than not that she’s in danger.”
Qiao An’s mood also became heavy. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know something like this happened to her. Did you go to that coffee shop?”
“I did. And I asked about her. I showed the employee my cousin’s photo. He recognized the person who bought the coffee immediately. I think that person must be my cousin. But he said the person’s last name is Yan, and the key thing is that she has a wife. I plan to wait at the coffee shop early in the morning for the next couple of days, waiting for her to appear.”
Qiao An looked down, feeling a little dejected. Then she suddenly remembered something. “I have the license plate number of the car that person was driving. Maybe we can find out where she lives. I’ll send it to you.”
Jing Michu’s eyes lit up. “Great! Thank you so much! I’ll contact someone immediately to track that car.”
Qiao An said, “Don’t mention it. Your cousin is such a good person. I hope we can find her as soon as possible, too.”
After saying that, she realized she had misspoken. She and Jing Michu were no longer a couple, so it wasn’t appropriate to refer to her cousin as “cousin” anymore.
Luckily, Jing Michu didn’t notice anything amiss. She stood up to make a phone call outside and quickly returned.
“Well?”
“They’ve started the investigation. They’ll let me know as soon as they have any information.”
Jing Michu saw that Qiao An was so busy talking that she hadn’t touched her food. She took a piece of fish, carefully picked out the bones, and placed it on Qiao An’s plate. “You love to eat fish. Eat up.”
Qiao An blushed, staring at the fish, but didn’t move. She also picked up a piece of bok choy for Jing Michu, her ear tips turning red. “You must have been staying up late these past few days. Eat less meat and more vegetables.”
Jing Michu looked at her, the corners of her mouth curving up. “Thank you, An An.”
