Accidentally Picked Up a Rich and Amnesiac Alpha (GL) - Chapter 27
That evening, Yan Qingqi was in the kitchen washing dishes. The faucet was running, but she was washing slowly, completely unaware that water was splashing on her. She looked utterly distracted.
Song Tingxue called out, “A-Yan, A-Yan?”
Yan Qingqi snapped out of it. “Hm?”
“What’s wrong? What do you think about what I just said to you?”
“What was it?” Yan Qingqi lowered her eyes apologetically. “I’m sorry, my mind was wandering. What did you say?”
“What’s the matter? Are you not feeling well?” Song Tingxue walked over and touched her forehead with her palm.
“I’m fine. No fever, I don’t feel unwell anywhere. Maybe I’m just a little tired from the last couple of days.”
“Then you should rest well. Don’t cook dinner tomorrow. Let’s go out to eat or order takeout?”
Order takeout?
Isn’t I running a private kitchen takeout?
“No need. It’s just one dinner. I’m not tired. I’ll be fine after a good rest. Maybe I just didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Then let’s make sure we both get good rest tonight.”
Yan Qingqi smiled. “I’m really fine. Songsong, you go shower first. Maybe take a bath to relax.”
Song Tingxue agreed with a smile. “Also, about what I just said, how about we buy a dishwasher? I don’t want you to work so hard washing dishes.”
Yan Qingqi said, “That sounds wonderful. Thank you, wife.”
She finished the dishes and came out of the kitchen to go upstairs. Songsong was still in the bathroom, and the faint sound of running water drifted out. The house was quiet and serene now that the daytime bustle was gone. Only the occasional sound of children running past could be heard outside the window.
Yan Qingqi poured herself a cup of tea. Her gaze fell on the white magnolia tree outside the window, and she stared blankly, slowly sipping her drink. Jing Michu’s words echoed in her ears once more.
“If I hadn’t been there, if I hadn’t used the Wen family’s influence, Cousin, tell me, how would you have protected your Songsong?”
“Do you think you can truly protect your Songsong and keep her from any harm?”
Yes, with her current civilian status, she couldn’t protect Songsong.
In front of that fat Mr. Jin, her status as Yan Qingqi meant absolutely nothing.
She also wouldn’t be able to provide Songsong with enough resources to thrive if someone maliciously blacklisted her.
That sense of helplessness had surfaced in Yan Qingqi’s heart repeatedly since that day.
She could disregard the privileged, pampered life of a rich heiress and the billions in assets, but she couldn’t disregard Songsong.
As Yan Qingqi, she couldn’t adequately protect Songsong, but Wen Shuyan could.
With the Wen family’s financial resources and influence, it would be no problem at all.
Thinking this, Yan Qingqi made up her mind and picked up her phone.
Jing Michu had just come out of the bathroom when Qiao An waved her phone. “My cousin changed the menu. She says tomorrow’s lunch will only be small wontons. The group chat is blowing up again. They’re saying she’s not following the menu and should be cooking proper dishes for lunch. This time, the woman from building 16 is speaking up for you two sisters.”
Jing Michu asked, “My cousin changed the menu?”
“According to the menu, tomorrow was originally supposed to be snacks, specific dish TBD.”
“Then my cousin isn’t really changing the menu. At most, she’s specifying the dish,” Jing Michu said, exasperated. “Is that ‘Just Saying’ person trying to seek attention again?”
Qiao An said, “Yes, it’s him again.”
Jing Michu had met that “Just Saying” person when she accompanied Qiao An on a delivery run yesterday. He was very full of himself, acting like he was the sole standard of the universe.
Jing Michu didn’t have the patience to argue with him in the group chat. She thought for a moment. She didn’t believe her cousin would change the menu for no reason. Her eyes suddenly lit up. “She’ll probably contact me soon.”
Just as she spoke, Jing Michu received a message from her cousin: [I’ve made up my mind. I’ve decided to do the DNA test. Let’s do it here in L City.]
Jing Michu immediately agreed. “Perfect. No problem.”
After hanging up, Jing Michu was in high spirits. “An An, my cousin agreed to the DNA test.”
“Really? What made her change her mind?”
“Didn’t you say I was persuasive and good with words? I must have convinced her.”
“Yes, yes, you’re amazing.” Qiao An laughed. “Your cousin finally agreed. You can finally get a good night’s sleep.”
“It’s still early. I don’t want to go to sleep yet. Shouldn’t we get some exercise?”
Qiao An blushed, biting her lip as she asked, “What do you want to do?”
“You rest. I’m going downstairs to pump some iron.”
The smile instantly vanished from Qiao An’s face. She said coldly, “Go ahead.” Then she lay down and deliberately turned her back to Jing Michu.
Jing Michu secretly chuckled and quickly went downstairs.
Qiao An heard her really leave and immediately sat up, grinding her teeth in anger. “That idiot! She really went to lift weights! Humph! I hope she lifts too much and collapses!”
Unexpectedly, Jing Michu quickly returned, her hands behind her back. “An An, are you mad? Were you cursing at me? You must have called me an idiot again.”
“No,” Qiao An flatly denied. “Why are you back so soon? Aren’t you going to lift weights?”
“What’s the fun in lifting weights? I finally flew all the way to L City. I should be spending time with my wife.”
Qiao An blushed, still pouting. “Who’s your wife?”
“Not yet, but you will be soon.”
Jing Michu walked over to the bed and sat down. She pulled out a small, exquisite, high-end box from behind her back. “It’s your birthday today. I thought we should celebrate with some extra good news.”
Qiao An’s heart thumped. Her eyes widened in surprise as the box opened, revealing a sparkling diamond ring nestled inside.
She hadn’t expected Jing Michu to propose to her today.
“An An, my good wife, marry me. I promise I won’t argue with you for the rest of our lives.”
Qiao An was incredibly surprised, happy, and touched. But when she heard the last part, she laughed. “You really won’t argue with me for the rest of our lives?”
Jing Michu admitted, “That might be a little difficult, but I promise I’ll concede to you.”
“Every single time?”
“Absolutely. Wives must be cherished. Besides, we rarely argue anyway. The only real argument we had was that one time, and it made my wife so angry that she left, and I didn’t get any kisses or hugs for six months. I’m never doing that again. Never again.”
“You promise? Never again?”
Jing Michu nodded solemnly. “I promise. I won’t get angry with my wife again. I’ll love her well.”
Qiao An cleared her throat, blushing. “Then why aren’t you putting the ring on me?”
Jing Michu put the ring away. “We’ll put it on tomorrow.”
“Why?”
“What if you get too excited and the diamond scratches me and leaves me covered in blood? You always scratch me when you get excited.”
Qiao An’s face flushed crimson. She was about to curse him out, but her mouth was suddenly covered.
Jing Michu held her and kissed her deeply, her tongue intertwining with Qiao An’s sweetness, devouring the clear, sweet taste in her mouth. Qiao An was instantly disarmed. She wrapped her arms around Jing Michu’s neck and fell back onto the bed.
The familiar scent of pheromones on their lips and tongues quickly brought back the suppressed yearning and desire of the past six months.
She kissed Jing Michu. Memories of their past intimacy flashed through her mind, and she once again succumbed to Jing Michu’s passion. She realized she had always longed to be close to Chu Chu, to be kissed and marked by her.
Her fingertips traced and teased. Amidst their feverish breathing, the heat in the room abruptly intensified.
In the lamplight, the two clung to each other, locked in a passionate embrace.
After sending that message, a surprising calm settled over Yan Qingqi’s heart. She took her clothes, about to go to the guest bathroom to shower, but realized the master bathroom was unusually quiet. There was no sound at all.
Yan Qingqi quickly walked to the bathroom door and opened it a crack. “Songsong?”
No one answered. Yan Qingqi didn’t hesitate this time. She hurriedly opened the door and rushed in.
In the bathroom, Song Tingxue was completely submerged in the hot water, leaning against the edge of the tub, sound asleep. She hadn’t even heard Yan Qingqi knock or call her name.
Her wet head rested against the bathtub, exposing her beautiful, long swan-like neck. Water droplets beaded on her exquisite collarbones and pale shoulders, glistening.
It seemed her Songsong was truly tired and truly relaxed, having fallen asleep while soaking.
Yan Qingqi walked over and tested the water temperature.
The water was a little cool. Yan Qingqi frowned and gently shook her pale shoulder in the water. “Wife, wake up.”
Song Tingxue was startled awake, slowly opening her eyes. There was a drowsy confusion in her beautiful eyes, sparkling like little stars.
Yan Qingqi said gently, “The water is cold. Let’s go to bed.”
Song Tingxue mumbled incoherently, half-asleep, and tried to stand up. Unexpectedly, her foot slipped, and instead of getting up, she slid completely into the bathtub.
Yan Qingqi acted quickly, reaching out to steady her, then using her strength to lift her right out of the water.
Splash! Water sprayed everywhere, including all over Yan Qingqi.
The snow-white Song Tingxue leaned shyly against Yan Qingqi.
Yan Qingqi turned, set Songsong down, and waited for her to stand steadily. She grabbed a towel from the side and unfolded a large, white bathrobe, which she draped around Songsong’s exquisite figure.
“Carry me to the bed.”
Yan Qingqi smiled. She lifted Songsong into a bridal carry and carried her out of the bathroom.
She had just placed Song Tingxue on the bed when Songsong suddenly wrapped her arms around her neck and clung to her. She pressed herself against Yan Qingqi and kissed her lips with a certain urgency.
Yan Qingqi’s breathing quickened. “I haven’t showered yet.”
Song Tingxue smiled faintly. “I don’t mind.” She quickly pulled off Yan Qingqi’s casual pants, then her shirt, and her underwear.
Yan Qingqi ripped off the bathrobe she had just wrapped around Songsong.
The two quickly embraced and kissed, their lips and tongues passionately entangled, their fingertips running wild. In the air, the scent of night-blooming cereus and cedar intertwined and surged.
Song Tingxue held A-Yan tightly, breathing heavily, her body hot. The scent of night-blooming cereus she exhaled was thick and sweet like melted sugar. She arched her head back in delicious agony, her face flushed with passion. Her slender fingers dug into A-Yan’s pale skin, holding tight, tighter still.
Afterward, Yan Qingqi got up to shower. When she returned, Song Tingxue was already asleep, her hair obscuring her delicate features.
Yan Qingqi gently pushed aside her soft hair, looking at her beautiful nose, gentle eyes, and the lingering flush on her pale cheek.
Yan Qingqi smiled, lay down next to her, and turned over to circle the soft Omega in her arms.
Smelling the lovely scent of night-blooming cereus on her, Yan Qingqi felt utterly peaceful. She hugged the person in her arms a little tighter.
No matter who she was—Yan Qingqi or Wen Shuyan—and no matter if Songsong had lied to her, whether they were secret lovers for years or Songsong had simply found her and brought her home.
None of it changed the fact that she loved Songsong and that she would protect her Songsong for the rest of their lives.
