Accidentally Picked Up a Rich and Amnesiac Alpha (GL) - Chapter 37
Yan Qingqi had nothing planned for today. Songsong was off filming, leaving Yan Qingqi alone in the large villa with Gong Yue in the basement.
In the morning, Yan Qingqi wrapped small wontons with black truffle and pork filling. When she was done, it was nearly lunchtime, so she cooked two bowls and brought one down to the basement.
Before she could knock, the door opened from the inside.
Seeing Gong Yue’s meticulous appearance, Yan Qingqi smiled. “Have you had lunch? Would you like some small wontons?”
Gong Yue glanced at her, her icy gaze meeting Yan Qingqi’s warm look. “Did you specially cook this for me? You don’t have to. I’ve already been paid. My team handles our own meals.”
Yan Qingqi said, “Not specially cooked. I made a batch of wontons and cooked too many. I can’t eat them all myself.”
Gong Yue looked at her again, then accepted the bowl of wontons. “Thank you.”
Yan Qingqi didn’t disturb her further, only asking her to leave the bowl and utensils outside when she was finished.
In the basement, in front of the rows of surveillance screens, was a small bed.
Gong Yue held the bowl of wontons, her mood complex. She could tell that Yan Qingqi was a genuinely good person—polite, warm, and not the type of corrupt, arrogant scoundrel wealthy people sometimes were.
Protecting someone like this, Gong Yue felt no regret, even if she were to be killed in the line of duty.
Gong Yue slowly ate the warm small wontons. They tasted truly delicious—fresh, savory, and juicy. One bite each.
They were the best small wontons she had ever eaten.
She had heard an older colleague say that people who love food are generally not bad people. And these wontons were made by Miss Yan herself, from kneading the dough to rolling the wrappers, making the filling, and wrapping them.
As Gong Yue ate, the most fragile chord in her heart was struck, causing a tremor that made her eyes well up.
She couldn’t understand why her brother had disappeared.
Did he truly kill his good friend Wang Qiang for money and run away with it?!
In the evening, Yan Qingqi was meticulously preparing dinner when she received a message from Song Tingxue: [A-Yan, I won’t be home for dinner tonight. The crew is having a get-together.]
Yan Qingqi was now extremely sensitive to dinner parties and on high alert. She quickly asked: [Who will be there? Will there be anyone like the fat Mr. Jin?]
[No. Just the director, a few assistant directors, the producer, the scriptwriter, a few main actors, and Luo Sisi is going too.]
Yan Qingqi was slightly relieved. [Where are you eating? I’ll come pick you up.]
[No need. Xiaole will drive me back.]
Yan Qingqi insisted: [I’ll come. If anything happens, I can bring you home.]
Song Tingxue had no choice but to agree and sent her the restaurant address.
Yan Qingqi ate a simple dinner, cleaned the kitchen, changed clothes, and was about to leave when Gong Yue’s voice came through the nearest camera. “Is Miss Yan going out?”
Yan Qingqi was slightly startled. She looked around for a moment before spotting a miniature camera pointed at the door and window. “Yes, my wife is having dinner out. I’m going to wait for her and pick her up.”
Gong Yue said, “Miss Yan, please wait a moment.”
The camera went silent. Soon, Gong Yue came out of the basement and quickly walked over to Yan Qingqi. “Miss Yan, I am your personal bodyguard. I will accompany you.”
Yan Qingqi thought if Gong Yue followed her, she and Songsong wouldn’t be able to talk privately in the car, and any kissing or hugging would be even more awkward.
“No need. I’m just picking someone up and coming straight back. I’m not going to any crowded or lively places.”
Gong Yue insisted. “Miss Yan, for your personal safety, please cooperate.”
Seeing Gong Yue’s determined expression, refusing to let her leave without her permission, Yan Qingqi: “…”
“Alright then. I’ll drive the Land Rover, and you drive your G-Wagon. How about that?”
Gong Yue nodded. “Agreed.”
She spoke into her headset. “Send two team members. They’ll leave with me.”
Yan Qingqi: “…”
This is going to make leaving the house completely impossible without a retinue.
At the restaurant, the table was lively with conversation. With Luo Sisi there, the atmosphere was very active. Someone tried to offer Song Tingxue a drink, but Luo Sisi blocked them. “Her stomach is unwell, and she’s taking medicine. The doctor ordered her to abstain from alcohol. Come on, we’ll drink. If we send our leading actress to the hospital, we can’t film the drama.” No one pressed her to drink again.
Song Tingxue was wearing a white dress, her dark brown hair naturally falling over her shoulders. She wore a polite, faint smile. Her cool, snow-like eyes shone brightly in the light.
“Tingxue, you can’t drink. Have some hot soup.” A refined, handsome man at the table stood up and served Song Tingxue a bowl of soup.
He placed the steaming sweet soup in front of Song Tingxue. Through the rising white steam, the man’s gaze was as warm as the soup.
Song Tingxue quickly stood up to accept it, looking slightly uncomfortable. “Thank you, Director Bai. I should do it myself. It’s too much trouble for you to serve me soup.”
Director Bai was the assistant director of this drama but was a young, famous director in his own right. Song Tingxue’s breakthrough micro-film that won international awards was directed by him.
“It’s no trouble at all. We’re old friends, old acquaintances.”
Immediately, people at the table started teasing them. Someone laughed. “Director Bai, we are also old friends and old acquaintances. Why are you only serving Movie Queen Song soup and not us?”
“Exactly, Director Bai! You’re showing favoritism!”
“They’ve known each other for a long time. Since college. Mountain Moonlight was their breakout film.”
“Oh my, Movie Queen Song is truly enviable. Director Bai Ming is young, talented, and so handsome.”
Bai Ming listened, a broad smile on his face, glancing at Song Tingxue from time to time.
No one at the table was foolish. Many noticed that Bai Ming was interested in the Movie Queen Song Tingxue.
Song Tingxue said plainly, “What’s there to envy? We all work together, filming together. I have always considered Director Bai to be a very talented director and I respect him as a senior. I believe Director Bai and the other directors here will all produce hit masterpieces in the future.”
Bai Ming heard the hint of distance in her words. She deliberately emphasized respecting him as a “senior,” clearly not wanting to be associated with any ambiguous relationship with him. Bai Ming’s smile slowly stiffened. He picked up his wine glass and silently drank.
“Well said!” The main director, Director Xiao, said, “Xiao Song, we’ll take that blessing! We hope our drama becomes a massive hit!”
Someone sighed, “If it becomes a phenomenon, our crew could launch so many careers.”
At the mention of a hit, and becoming famous, everyone present, except Song Tingxue, showed a look of yearning. Who wouldn’t want to go from average to famous, or from famous to a blockbuster hit?
The dinner concluded, and everyone began to leave. Some prepared to return to the hotel, and others planned to go out for fun. Song Tingxue had already messaged Yan Qingqi and was waiting for her to arrive. After most of the group had left, Song Tingxue and Luo Sisi walked out together.
“Sisisi, are you too drunk?”
“No, that was just a bit of alcohol. We were just having fun together.”
Unexpectedly, another person was waiting outside the main entrance of the restaurant, smoking a cigarette: Bai Ming.
Luo Sisi raised her eyebrows and teased, “Look! He’s waiting specifically for you!”
Song Tingxue shot her a look. “I treat you like a sister, and you still joke about me.”
“Okay, okay, I won’t say any more. I’ll shut my mouth.” Luo Sisi proactively walked up to him. “Director Bai is still here? You haven’t left yet? It’s still early. Why don’t you join them at the bar?”
“I don’t like noisy places. I’m just having a cigarette and resting.” Bai Ming extinguished his cigarette and walked over. “Tingxue, are you going back to the hotel too? I don’t see Xiaole tonight. I can drive you back.”
Song Tingxue said, “Thank you for the offer, Director Bai, but I’m not going back to the hotel.”
Bai Ming was startled but managed a smile. “Why is that? Is the hotel the crew booked not good enough?”
“No. I’m temporarily staying at a friend’s house, just borrowing it for the duration of the filming.” Song Tingxue saw he wasn’t leaving, so she had to say, “Director Bai, you should head back. Someone is coming to pick me up soon.”
Just then, Yan Qingqi arrived, calling out from a distance, “Miss Song!”
The word “Songsong” almost slipped out. Yan Qingqi remembered they were outside, surrounded by the crew, and their marriage was a secret. She quickly corrected herself.
Song Tingxue heard the voice, turned around, and the coldness melted from her famously beautiful face. Her eyes curved into a smile. “You’re here.”
She was a completely different person from the cool, distant Song Tingxue who had deliberately maintained her boundaries earlier.
Bai Ming saw this, his hand clenched into a tight fist at his side.
Yan Qingqi said, “Is dinner over?”
“Just finished. You arrived right as we were leaving.”
Yan Qingqi smiled broadly. “Perfect. Let’s go home.”
Bai Ming pretended not to care and asked casually, “Tingxue, who is this coming to pick you up?”
Before Song Tingxue could answer, Yan Qingqi introduced herself. “Hello, my name is Yan. I am Sister Song’s life assistant.”
Luo Sisi heard Yan Qingqi’s deadpan delivery of “life assistant” and almost burst out laughing.
“So, Miss Yan.” Bai Ming felt a wave of relief.
He had initially noticed her striking looks and aristocratic aura, wondering if she was a low-key rich second generation. Was she the friend Song Tingxue mentioned?
Now that he heard she was just an assistant, he breathed a sigh of relief. A hint of arrogance appeared in his eyes.
“Sister Song, the car is over there. Let’s go.” Yan Qingqi was very conscious of her role as a small assistant and didn’t dare to casually link arms with Songsong.
Song Tingxue turned and said goodbye to Bai Ming. “Goodbye, Director Bai. I’m leaving now.” She asked Luo Sisi, “Do you want to come with us? We can drop you off at your hotel first.”
Luo Sisi said, “I won’t disturb Sister Song’s rest tonight.”
She deliberately emphasized the word “rest.” She had already gotten the Alpha wife drunk last night. She didn’t want to be a third wheel again tonight.
She looked at Bai Ming, who was still staring longingly at Song Tingxue’s retreating figure. Luo Sisi sighed inwardly. Sister Song had rejected him countless times, both overtly and subtly. He still looked so heartbroken.
Luo Sisi didn’t know what to say. She almost blurted out, Give up! She’s already someone’s wife! You never had a chance before, and you certainly don’t now.
“Director Bai, are you heading back to the hotel? I’ll hitch a ride with you. Please give me a lift.”
“Oh, alright, sure.”
Once in the car, Yan Qingqi asked, “Did they force you to drink?”
“No. They’re all crew members. They wouldn’t go that far. They heard I couldn’t drink, so they stopped trying.”
Yan Qingqi hummed in agreement. She deeply detested bullies who ignored others and insisted on forcing people to drink. On the way over, she had planned to force-feed anyone who tried to make Songsong drink and then dump them at the hospital entrance.
Song Tingxue was unaware of the imaginary enemies in her Alpha’s head. She tilted her head, gazing at her Alpha, finding A-Yan more and more beautiful. Every part of her was gorgeous. She couldn’t resist leaning over, placing her fingers on the back of Yan Qingqi’s head, and pressing her lips against her.
Normally, Yan Qingqi would have hugged her and started a sweet, passionate kiss. But today, Gong Yue’s car was right behind them. Who knew if she was watching?
“What’s wrong?” Sensing A-Yan’s stiffness, Movie Queen Song opened her innocent, charming eyes and looked at her, confused.
“We’re right outside the restaurant. People are coming and going. It would be bad if someone took a picture.”
Yan Qingqi stroked her hair. “We’ll kiss when we get home.”
The slight disappointment in Song Tingxue’s eyes vanished, replaced by a sudden glow. “Alright! Then drive faster.” With that, she scratched Yan Qingqi’s palm with her little finger, like a cat’s paw.
Yan Qingqi’s heart raced, a surge of heat rushing to her head. She slammed the accelerator, and the car roared off.
When they arrived at Venice Garden No. 9, as soon as they entered the gate, Song Tingxue was about to hug Yan Qingqi and kiss her like before.
Yan Qingqi remembered that a miniature camera was pointed right at the entrance and the windows in the entryway. It could definitely catch them kissing. She quickly picked up Songsong in a bridal carry. “Let’s go upstairs.”
Song Tingxue was held in her arms, smiling and snuggling close.
In the upstairs bedroom, Yan Qingqi closed the door, drew the curtains, and immediately kissed Songsong.
The kiss was like a suppressed flood, instantly fierce and intimate, passionate and consuming.
They embraced, kissing all the way to the bathroom, their clothes scattering on the floor.
“Songsong, lift your arms.”
Song Tingxue obediently raised one arm. Under the showerhead, Yan Qingqi lathered Songsong with body wash. The white bubbles covered her snow-white arms, making it hard to distinguish Songsong’s skin from the foam.
But as she rubbed her, reaching a sensitive area on her chest, Song Tingxue couldn’t help but tremble slightly. Whether it was the steam in the bathroom or something else, Song Tingxue’s face was flushed.
When Yan Qingqi bent down to kiss her, Song Tingxue groaned softly and hugged A-Yan tightly. Water droplets streamed down their tightly pressed bodies, dripping from the curve where their bodies met.
The soft, intermittent moans were quickly swallowed by the rushing water.
Author’s Note:
Yan Qingqi: Ahem, ahem, wife. There are cameras in the house. We can’t just kiss anywhere.
