After Attending School A, I Differentiated into an Omega - Chapter 13
Monday
Qin Fengyue wore a white V-neck inner shirt cut down to her collarbone, made of soft cotton. Over it, she wore her school uniform jacket with the zipper pulled down to her navel.
Ever since she arrived at the classroom early in the morning, she hadn’t stopped sneezing.
“A-choo!”
Qin Fengyue rubbed her nose, felt her face, and muttered to herself: “I think I have a fever.”
Bai Xue was busy copying homework. Hearing this, she tossed her pen aside and felt Qin Fengyue’s forehead. “It really is a bit hot. The rain last night brought the temperature down—did you leave the AC on?”
Qin Fengyue nodded solemnly. “Maybe. Then I’m not going to the morning assembly. Help me ask for leave.”
Bai Xue: “…”
Qin Fengyue let out a yawn and slumped onto the desk. “Don’t call me when you leave. Remember to turn off the lights.”
Jiang Da, sitting nearby, said: “Today is the opening ceremony. You’re really not going?”
Qin Fengyue buried her head in the crook of her arm, her voice muffled: “It’s all Alphas. I’m not going.”
Jiang Da hesitated. “Really not going?”
“Why don’t you think about it again?” Jiang Da tried to persuade her.
Qin Fengyue “tsked” and looked up.
Jiang Zhao—the spokesperson for homeroom teacher Chen Fang—was looking down at her, peering into her eyes: “Caught a cold?”
Wherever Jiang Zhao and Qin Fengyue were, Bai Xue was there. Bai Xue let out an exaggerated cry, “Ah, Moon, are you sick? Do you need a relatively strong Alpha to carry you to the infirmary?”
With Bai Xue winking and nudging, Qin Fengyue’s sluggish thoughts began to move.
Oh, Jiang Zhao. Last night, thanks to the efforts of the “water army” (paid posters), Jiang Zhao had finally become the “woman beneath her” (in the polls).
Miss Qin flashed a provocative smile. “Yeah.”
From Jiang Zhao’s perspective:
Qin Fengyue’s voice was raspy and low, her cheeks were burned pink, and her fever-reddened eyes were watery as she “barked” at her. There was zero intimidation, yet after she finished barking, she wore a look of victory.
Jiang Zhao said nothing and continued handing out papers.
Jiang Da was dumbfounded: “She just accepted it? She doesn’t care? Damn, last time when my legs couldn’t even close after extra training, Dog Jiang wouldn’t even let me ask for leave!”
Bai Xue said dismissively: “Why? Do you not have any self-awareness?”
Jiang Da: “…”
The bell for the end of morning self-study rang. The sound of moving chairs and desks filled the classroom as the crowd surged toward the playground.
The classroom lights were flicked off. In the dimness, the dampness of the unceasing night rain began to spread.
“A-choo—”
Qin Fengyue pulled her jacket tight, drifting in a daze for an unknown amount of time.
She felt a cool hand touch her forehead.
Opening her eyes, she saw Jiang Zhao holding a thermometer, seemingly considering where to start.
Qin Fengyue: “…”
Jiang Zhao: “Chen Fang told me to come back and check on you.”
Qin Fengyue took the thermometer and tucked it under her armpit. “Oh.”
The response was indifferent.
Jiang Zhao leaned against a desk behind her, browsing on her phone.
Qin Fengyue stopped sleeping and propped her chin up to look at Jiang Zhao. “Hey—”
Jiang Zhao slightly raised her brow. “What?”
Qin Fengyue: “I feel like I’m about to differentiate.”
Jiang Zhao: “How so?”
Qin Fengyue pulled out her phone. “I Baidu-ed it. Don’t Alphas always get a fever when they differentiate?”
Jiang Zhao chuckled and said jokingly: “Omegas in heat feel the same way.”
Qin Fengyue let out a hiss of displeasure, pulled out the thermometer, and slapped it down in front of Jiang Zhao.
Jiang Zhao picked it up. “Low-grade fever.”
Qin Fengyue yawned. “I’ll be fine after a nap.”
Jiang Zhao: “Let’s go.”
Qin Fengyue froze mid-yawn. “Go where?”
Jiang Zhao: “Didn’t you say you’re about to differentiate? Let’s go to the infirmary and have the school doctor check.”
Qin Fengyue’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
Jiang Zhao gave an “mm,” a flicker of a smile crossing her eyes. “Your situation… is quite similar to mine when I differentiated.”
Since Jiang Zhao had a “notorious” track record, Qin Fengyue didn’t believe her that easily.
“Are you serious?”
“Why should I believe you?”
Jiang Zhao’s lips moved: “What would I gain by lying to you?”
Qin Fengyue thought about it; there really was no benefit. If it were herself, and an ultra-Alpha appeared who opposed her at every turn, she would definitely wish that Alpha differentiated as late as possible!
As expected.
Jiang Zhao: “Whether it’s true or not, you’ll know after a trip to the infirmary.”
The students were all on the playground. In the teaching building, only the principal’s broken Mandarin echoed from the broadcast.
Qin Fengyue clutched her phone, following behind Jiang Zhao, enthusiastically tapping on her keyboard.
Triple Alliance
Baby Qin: 【I might be differentiating. You guys better get ready.】
Dad Qin: 【?】
Mom Fang: 【Why so sudden? You were fine yesterday.】
Baby Qin: 【Mom, I need to change my underwear. I need them all replaced with the kind that has the ‘little pouch’.】
Mom Fang: 【…】
Dad Qin: 【What are you saying, you damn girl?】
After chatting with her parents, she went to the group chat with Chu Yang and Wang Miao.
Qin Fengyue put on her “baggage” and sent a very reserved period.
Roaring Gale: 【.】
Sheep-Sheep-Sheep: 【What’s up?】
Waiting for East Wind: 【.】
Wang Miao: 【Time to change your name?】
Sheep-Sheep-Sheep: 【What’s the hint? Starting a romance or differentiating?】
Qin Fengyue replied with two periods, considering the hint extremely obvious.
Sheep-Sheep-Sheep: 【Really?】
Wang Miao: 【So sudden? Are you running hot?】
Waiting for East Wind: 【Running hot, burning so bad! Heading to the infirmary now. Does Alpha High have isolation rooms? This is sudden; I might ‘grow up’ by tomorrow.】
Wang Miao: 【Congratulations, congratulations. Your harem finally sees the moon through the clouds.】
Qin Fengyue felt her face grow even hotter. She looked up; Jiang Zhao, with her broad shoulders and straight spine, was also looking down at her phone.
Qin Fengyue sighed: 【Thinking that I’m about to differentiate, even Jiang Zhao looks a lot more pleasing to the eye.】
Sheep-Sheep-Sheep: 【…】
Jiang Zhao pushed open the infirmary door. Her phone pinged.
Chu Yang: 【Jiang Zhao, it seems Moon is about to differentiate. Can you help her notify the teacher?】
jiang: 【Is that what she told you?】
Jiang Zhao rang the bell by the door.
The duty doctor walked out, saw the two of them, and asked: “What’s wrong? Who’s feeling unwell?”
Chu Yang replied: 【What happened?】
Qin Fengyue said bashfully: “Doctor… I think I have a fever.”
Jiang Zhao glanced at Qin Fengyue.
jiang: 【I’m with her. It looks more like a simple cold.】
Chu Yang: 【………………】
Chu Yang: 【Then, then I’ll trouble you. Give her a kind, subtle hint from the side. Whatever you do, don’t stimulate her.】
Chu Yang: 【And please, keep the fact that I contacted you a secret!】
Jiang Zhao let out a laugh, turned off her phone, and focused on observing Qin Fengyue.
Qin Fengyue’s cheeks were pink and her lips were pale; she looked quite sickly, but her eyes were as bright as lightbulbs.
She looked like she was burning up quite badly.
Jiang Zhao pressed down the corners of her mouth and asked: “Do you know what symptoms occur when an Alpha differentiates?”
The school doctor measured Qin Fengyue’s temperature again, told her to clamp the thermometer in her armpit, and walked away.
Qin Fengyue recalled seriously: “Massive increase in appetite, persistent low temperature, physical weakness, and so on…”
The school doctor returned and told Qin Fengyue to take out the thermometer.
Doctor: “Anywhere else you feel unwell?”
Qin Fengyue: “I have a fever.”
The doctor looked at her. “I know you have a fever, it’s written on the thermometer. Anything else?”
Qin Fengyue: “My head is groggy, my nose is a bit blocked… A-choo!”
Jiang Zhao reached out and closed the infirmary window.
Qin Fengyue: “Thanks…”
The doctor stared at Jiang Zhao and Qin Fengyue for a moment and suddenly asked: “Are you two that couple from the forum?”
Qin Fengyue: “…No.”
Jiang Zhao was looking down at her phone, showing no reaction.
Qin Fengyue blinked and asked: “Where are the differentiation isolation rooms at Alpha High?”
The doctor smiled. “Why? Want to go for a tour?”
Qin Fengyue was slightly stunned. “A tour? Am I not going there to be isolated?”
Jiang Zhao suddenly turned her back, raising her hand to cover her lower lip.
The doctor let out a snort and started laughing out loud.
Qin Fengyue: “…”
On the way back to the classroom.
Qin Fengyue was carrying a bag of cold medicine, her face turning red, then white, then green.
Jiang Zhao, knowing she was in the wrong, said: “If I didn’t say that, I was afraid you wouldn’t be willing to come to the hospital.”
Qin Fengyue let out a cold snort. She indeed disliked hospitals. Alphas had strong bodies; they weren’t Omegas—why run to the hospital for no reason?
Jiang Zhao: “Do you feel any better after taking the medicine?”
Qin Fengyue snorted again. She indeed felt much better; her mind was incredibly clear now!
Jiang Zhao: “The doctor also said that Alphas frequently confuse a cold with differentiation. Don’t take it to heart.”
Qin Fengyue snorted a third time.
Jiang Zhao: “Actually, when an Alpha differentiates, the most obvious symptom is—”
The pink ears hidden under the girl’s messy hair seemed to twitch sensitively.
Jiang Zhao’s tone took a sharp turn: “Forget it, it’s my fault. I apologize. I’ll tell you when you’ve forgiven me and are willing to talk to me.”
Qin Fengyue: “…”
Jiang Zhao moved to walk around Qin Fengyue to leave, but her wrist was suddenly gripped. She was pulled with force and swung against the corridor wall.
Qin Fengyue leaned in, lowering her voice: “Don’t take things too far.”
Being this close, their pheromones almost inevitably brushed against each other.
Red wine. It smelled better than she had imagined.
Jiang Zhao’s smile faded. “Want to hit me?”
Qin Fengyue’s breath was hot. “So what if I hit you? Do you have any idea how much I want to differentiate!”
Differentiate. And then go hug, kiss, and go to bed with any Omega? Maybe even form a bond?
Jiang Zhao’s throat moved, her gaze focusing on Qin Fengyue’s eyes.
She suddenly grabbed Qin Fengyue’s shoulders and lowered her head. The Alpha’s straight bridge of the nose and high nasal root were suddenly inches away.
Only then did Qin Fengyue notice that Jiang Zhao’s features were highly aggressive. Exquisite and vivid features, naturally thin and pale lips, and eyes like a hawk.
She felt the hair on her body stand on end as she was hit by a wave of damp, salty sea-breeze. Her gland seemed to sense danger, sending out waves of heat.
Jiang Zhao looked at her, her fingers moving toward Qin Fengyue’s gland.
“Qin Fengyue, I hope you differentiate sooner than anyone else.”
