After Attending School A, I Differentiated into an Omega - Chapter 4
After being confined at home for three days, Qin Fengyue was finally set free. The news of her transfer had already spread through United Middle School; that night, the line of heartbroken people could have wrapped around the school three times.
The school forum was a sea of wails, with “rooftop posts” piled high—everywhere you looked, there were poor souls mourning.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Wang Miao slapped Qin Fengyue’s shoulder. “Once you get to School A, study hard. It’s senior year, give it one last push.”
Qin Fengyue ran a hand through the ends of her hair. “Getting into college is a piece of cake anyway.”
Wang Miao didn’t argue. She parked the motorcycle in front of the restaurant and headed upstairs with Qin Fengyue.
Qin Fengyue was popular. For her pre-transfer farewell party, more than half the class showed up.
The private room was No. 303. Qin Fengyue, being her flashy self, had booked the largest VIP suite in the restaurant. It held three large round tables, and if you removed the partition screen, the adjacent room was a KTV lounge. As soon as Qin Fengyue pushed the door open, she was greeted by a room full of howling.
Colored lights flickered. Two male Alphas were singing “Deathly Love” with their arms around each other’s shoulders.
“Loving even if I die—” “—Die—”
Qin Fengyue: “…”
She flicked on the wall light, and the room instantly brightened.
“Qin Fengyue!” “Old Qin—” “Boss Qin, you’re here!”
Qin Fengyue raised a hand in greeting. “Have you ordered yet?”
Mazi tossed the microphone aside. “Weren’t we waiting for you?”
Wang Miao arranged the seating. The Omegas took up two tables; they were huddled together stealing glances at Qin Fengyue, their faces painted with four words: Gloom and Doom. The Alphas squeezed onto one table, laughing, pushing, and shoving.
Qin Fengyue’s smooth hair was ruffled into a mess as she leaned over the menu, listening to them brag.
“School A is perverted. It’s closed-campus learning, only two days off a week, and you have to do morning and evening self-study!”
“What’s scarier is the whole school is full of Alphas. From the principal and teachers down to the pigs and sheep in the cafeteria—there isn’t even a female fly in that place. Tsk tsk!”
Everyone knew Qin Fengyue’s nature and cast sympathetic looks her way.
Qin Fengyue sighed.
“Yue-er, you won’t end up doing Alpha-on-Alpha romance because you’re too lonely, will you?” Mazi asked.
Qin Fengyue said lazily, “I’m only interested in sweet, soft Omegas.”
“You like Omegas my ass. Who’s ever seen you actually go ‘swords drawn’ for real?”
Qin Fengyue: “…”
Wang Miao chimed in: “She hasn’t differentiated yet. Comrade Xiao Qin has the will but lacks the… power.”
“Screw you, Wang ‘One-Second’! Who are you making fun of?!” Qin Fengyue smacked the menu against Chu Yang’s back before quickly changing the subject. “Where’s the waiter? Let’s order!”
The door opened and a server walked in. She wore a red shirt and a black skirt. Her black hair was pinned up and hidden under a cap, and her slender neck was framed by the shirt collar.
Qin Fengyue: “…”
Jiang Zhao looked straight ahead as she stood by the round table. Her lips curved into a professional, formulaic smile as she asked, “Hello, what would you like to order?”
“Alright, your eyes are popping out.” Wang Miao nudged Qin Fengyue with her elbow.
“You f—” Qin Fengyue snapped back to reality and lowered her voice. “It’s not like I’m the only one looking!”
Jiang Zhao waited patiently and asked again.
“What a coincidence?” Qin Fengyue’s eyes crinkled.
Jiang Zhao looked at her but didn’t speak, acting as if she didn’t know Qin Fengyue at all.
Wang Miao laughed. “Qin the Lustful, how do you manage to hit on everyone you see?”
Qin Fengyue secretly rolled her eyes. Bringing your “bros” along to flirt with a girl was a fundamental mistake; they only lower your class and ruin your image.
Qin Fengyue ordered the food for the Alphas, then followed Jiang Zhao over to the Omegas’ table. She was incredibly patient with Omegas and knew the tastes of most of her classmates.
Jiang Zhao cast a slight glance at the person beside her.
Qin Fengyue pondered the menu carefully. “For drinks, just juice—you guys pick your own… and for dessert, mousse cake?”
“How about some strawberry cake too?” Qin Fengyue smiled as she made the arrangements.
An Omega spoke up: “I want seafood!”
Qin Fengyue: “Hairy crab? And some crawfish. Girls shouldn’t eat too much raw or cold food; I’ll add some dishes that are warm for the stomach and good for your complexion.”
The Alphas at the next table started banging on the table. “Damn it! Qin the Lustful, what do you mean? Why do we get a pile of beer and heavy-flavored BBQ? I want little cakes too! I want to be beautiful and radiant!”
Qin Fengyue ignored them. Her gaze swept over the menu until a slender, cool-toned finger pointed to the bottom right corner.
“For beauty and complexion, you could try this. It’s good for a girl’s body,” Jiang Zhao said.
Qin Fengyue took the opportunity to slide the menu closer to Jiang Zhao’s eyes. “Any more? What are your house specials?”
Jiang Zhao caught a faint scent of light flowers and herbs. She tilted her head slightly to avoid her. “Turn the page.”
The distance between the two was too close; in the eyes of someone watching, the scene became an eyesore.
“Fengyue.”
Qin Fengyue looked up. “What is it?”
Xiao Wanqin smiled and said, “Is there Sichuan food? Let me see the menu.”
Qin Fengyue handed it to her.
Leaning her head to the side, Qin Fengyue whispered to Jiang Zhao, “Why did you delete me?”
Jiang Zhao looked straight ahead.
Qin Fengyue: “Did you like the flowers?”
Jiang Zhao’s lips moved slightly. “Stand further away.”
Qin Fengyue: “…”
Xiao Wanqin: “Xiao Yue, I’ve finished ordering.”
Qin Fengyue took the menu back and gave it one last scan. She pulled two bills from her wallet, tucked them into the menu, and handed it to Jiang Zhao.
Jiang Zhao’s eyes darkened as she gave her a deep look.
Qin Fengyue felt guilty under that stare. “…It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a habit.”
Jiang Zhao pulled the bills out and stuffed them back at Qin Fengyue. “This restaurant doesn’t have a rule for accepting tips.”
Qin Fengyue rubbed her nose. “Fine.”
She called out to the girl as she was about to leave, saying shamelessly, “In that case, why don’t you just take me off your blacklist? I haven’t even collected those two transfers yet!”
Jiang Zhao was almost laughed in frustration. She glanced at Qin Fengyue, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, and left the room.
“You girl, you’re really something!” Wang Miao hooked her arm around Qin Fengyue’s neck. “And you said you didn’t like Alphas!”
Qin Fengyue was speechless. “She’s an Omega. I met her at the hospital a few days ago. She blacklisted me right after I sent her a bouquet of flowers.”
“An Omega? Your tastes are heavy then. Isn’t she a bit tall? And a ‘Cool Sister’ type!”
Qin Fengyue grunted. “Isn’t that a perfect match? I’ll definitely be taller than her after I differentiate!”
“Stop bragging!”
By the time the food arrived, the Alphas were already half-drunk, and a bunch of them started screaming into the microphones again.
As the protagonist of the dinner, Qin Fengyue was terrified of being forced to drink more. She used the “bathroom excuse” and called Chu Yang.
Coming out from washing her hands, she bumped into Xiao Wanqin in the hallway.
“Xiao Qin-zi?” Qin Fengyue narrowed her eyes slightly. “Is something up?”
Xiao Wanqin: “Fengyue… there’s something I want to tell you.”
Qin Fengyue was half-drunk. Her long lashes drooped, casting a small shadow under her eyes. She had to lean against the wall to stand steady, looking behind Xiao Wanqin with a half-smile.
Xiao Wanqin froze. She looked back, but only saw a slender shadow vanishing around the stairwell corner.
“Go ahead,” Qin Fengyue said, looking at her.
Xiao Wanqin bit her lip. “After you go to School A, can I go visit you?”
The corners of Qin Fengyue’s eyes curved, sparkling with light. “You can come anytime.”
She pulled a handkerchief from her pocket as if to wipe something for her, but mid-way, she folded her wrist and handed it over. “Wipe yourself.”
Xiao Wanqin looked down and realized there was a bit of butter on her chest. Her face flushed as she gripped the handkerchief.
Qin Fengyue checked the time on her phone. “I called a car; it’s waiting downstairs. Head back early.”
Xiao Wanqin gave an “mm.” “You’re always so thoughtful.”
Qin Fengyue waved it off. “I’m going out for a bit.”
Downstairs, Jiang Zhao and Chu Yang were talking.
Qin Fengyue grabbed Wang Miao’s car keys and tossed them to Chu Yang.
Chu Yang: “Drunk?” “Yeah.”
Jiang Zhao had already taken off her uniform and changed into casual clothes: a white T-shirt and jeans, with her black hair tied in a ponytail. She looked crisp and natural.
Qin Fengyue narrowed her eyes. She hadn’t forgotten that this person had blacklisted her a few days ago.
She wanted to start a confrontation, but before she could speak, Chu Yang asked, “What time is your shift over?”
The tone was familiar, and it was directed at Jiang Zhao.
Jiang Zhao raised her hand and checked her watch. “One more hour.”
Qin Fengyue: “…You guys know each other?”
Jiang Zhao: “Not close.”
Chu Yang: “…” Chu Yang: “You’re reporting to School A tomorrow, and you still drank this much.”
At the mention of “School A,” Jiang Zhao raised an eyebrow.
Qin Fengyue’s face was flushed. She tried to look serious, but she lacked any real intimidation. To anyone else, she just looked like she was gazing at Jiang Zhao with a mix of piteousness and cuteness.
“The ‘dark room’ (blacklist)… aren’t you going to let me out yet?”
Chu Yang: “??”
