After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 14
They filmed from dawn until dusk. The entire crew was running back and forth, exhausted to the point where they felt like their bones were falling apart. Fortunately, there weren’t many night scenes left, so they wouldn’t have to stay up late for much longer.
The extras gradually left the set. The separation scene, which Tao Ran had spontaneously modified with the gland-biting improvisation, was highly praised by Director Wang, and Yu Li reaped the benefits of that success as well.
The three of them chatted for quite a while, and it was nearly midnight by the time they parted ways. Lin Lin was so tired she couldn’t even manage a hop; yawning repeatedly, she climbed into the driver’s seat of the van and offered to drive them back.
“You’re so young and you can already drive?” Tao Ran ruffled her hair.
“I just got my license last year. Pretty impressive, right?”
“Very impressive. I also got my license during university,” Yu Li added.
“Which year of university was that?” Tao Ran looked directly at Yu Li, her eyes filled with scrutiny.
Yu Li’s heart skipped a beat. She gave a vague answer: “Freshman year? Or sophomore year? I forgot.”
The van had only traveled a short distance when Tao Ran collapsed against Yu Li, half-asleep. Yu Li was leaning against a pillow, also on the verge of drifting off, when Lin Lin suddenly slammed on the brakes. Both of them jolted awake instantly.
“Damn, who’s being so reckless?” Lin Lin squinted, grumbling under her breath.
The headlights illuminated a small stretch of the road ahead. In the middle of the road, a girl who hadn’t yet changed out of her costume was sprawled on the ground.
Yu Li rubbed her eyes and asked, “What happened?”
Lin Lin quickly explained, “She suddenly ran out into the road herself. I didn’t hit her, but she gave me a hell of a scare.”
“I’ll go take a look.”
Yu Li pushed the door open and stepped out. The girl’s makeup was ruined from crying. When she looked up and spotted Yu Li, she found a sudden burst of energy, quickly standing up and throwing herself into Yu Li’s arms.
“Yu Li… my car service driver abandoned me and drove off.”
Yu Li hurriedly pushed her away. “Are you… Shi Yi?”
“It’s me. I didn’t know how to get back, and I’m afraid of the dark by myself.” Shi Yi shot a tearful glance at Tao Ran inside the car and tugged at the hem of Yu Li’s clothes. “Yu Li, I know I was wrong. I won’t pester you anymore. For the sake of our past, could you please give me a ride home?”
The way she spoke made it sound as if there was something significant between them. Lin Lin leaned one hand on the half-open driver’s window and said disdainfully, “Miss Shi Yi, the director’s team hasn’t left yet. If you go back now, you can still find someone to take you.”
Yu Li also nodded. “Right. You can just walk back along this road.”
“No, you know I’m terrified of the dark. I don’t dare go back alone.” Shi Yi gripped Yu Li tightly, and the latter began to consider the situation with some hesitation.
Yu Li thought: Should I just call Director Wang and ask someone to pick her up? But since Shi Yi was clinging to her, she likely wouldn’t compromise easily.
Tao Ran hadn’t fully woken up, but a layer of frost settled over her languid eyes.
She stretched inside the car, then slowly pulled the door open and stepped out. She positioned herself between the two of them, grabbed Shi Yi’s hand, and said, “It’s so dark out; how can we let a little sister go home alone? Honey, let’s give her a ride.”
Shi Yi looked at Tao Ran in shock, rendered speechless for a long moment. Tao Ran was all smiles as she led Shi Yi toward the car to tuck her inside.
Shi Yi felt things going south and looked imploringly at Yu Li. “I… I want to sit with Yu Li.”
Lin Lin honked the horn impatiently. “If you’re getting in, get in now.”
Shi Yi reluctantly sat in the innermost seat, with Tao Ran in the middle and Yu Li on the outside.
Shi Yi kept turning her head, trying to look at Yu Li, but Tao Ran frequently turned to smile at her—a smile so chillingly cold that it made Shi Yi’s blood run cold.
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard of you. Which company are you with?” Tao Ran asked in a gentle tone.
“I… I’m not signed. I’m just an extra.”
“That’s for the best. The entertainment industry is too deep; a pure and cute little sister like you wouldn’t be able to handle it.” Tao Ran pressed a hand on Shi Yi’s shoulder and gasped quietly, “Heavens, it’s so cold, why are you wearing so little?”
As she spoke, Tao Ran took off her jacket and draped it over Shi Yi. Shi Yi was incredibly embarrassed but couldn’t refuse to her face. Moreover, the strong scent of white musk on Tao Ran’s jacket made her feel dizzy.
Less than two minutes after taking off her jacket, Tao Ran let out a sneeze. Shi Yi thought she finally had an excuse to return the coat, but unexpectedly, Yu Li took Tao Ran’s hand and said, “How did you end up freezing yourself? Lin Lin, there’s a jacket in the bag on the passenger seat. Hand it to me.”
As Lin Lin was about to respond, Tao Ran leaned into Yu Li’s embrace with a low laugh. “No need. With you holding me, I’m not afraid of even the coldest winter.”
Yu Li pulled Tao Ran closer, and Shi Yi grit her teeth in fury.
Lin Lin caught sight of the two beauties embracing in the back seat next to a pale-faced “single dog,” and almost couldn’t stop herself from laughing out loud.
“Lin Lin, what are you laughing at?” Tao Ran asked nonchalantly, leaning in Yu Li’s arms and playing with a lock of her long hair.
“I’m not laughing, I’m angry! What did Shi Yi and I do wrong to have to watch you two torture us like this?” Lin Lin let out a huff and said sarcastically, “A jacket… as they say, coats are only meant for outsiders.”
Shi Yi was so angry her nails were nearly digging through the leather seat. Her left hand felt a bulging bag of biscuits in her backpack, and she suddenly felt she had a chance again.
Shi Yi tore open the packaging, and the scent of chocolate biscuits wafted through the car.
“Sister, would you like a biscuit?” Shi Yi addressed Tao Ran, but her wide eyes were fixed on Yu Li.
“Chocolate biscuits!” Tao Ran reached out toward Shi Yi with a faint smile. “If the little sister is treating, I won’t be polite.”
“I remember Yu Li loves this kind of biscuit too.”
“She does.” Tao Ran pulled out two sticks, feeding one to Yu Li and putting the other in her own mouth.
“Is it good?” Shi Yi asked softly.
Yu Li said without thinking, “Not as good as the one you gave me this morning.”
“No way, both boxes are the same brand,” Tao Ran said coyly.
Lin Lin chimed in with a timely assist: “Sister Yu Li means that the one Sister Tao Ran gives is the best, right?”
“Yes.” Yu Li looked down and smiled, her eyes full of affection.
“Don’t be mad, little sister. Your biscuits are good too; Yu Li is just too picky,” Tao Ran said in a gentle, melodic voice.
In that moment, Shi Yi trembled with rage. She had always believed she was a master of the “Green Tea” way and that Yu Li would inevitably fall into her grasp, but someone had already beaten her to it.
The journey was not a pleasant one for Shi Yi. When the van arrived at her apartment building, she stepped out in a daze.
The van didn’t linger for a second, turning around and driving away.
Shi Yi walked a few steps before realizing she was still wearing Tao Ran’s jacket. She ripped it off and threw it violently into a trash can. She opened WeChat and looked at Yu Li’s profile picture, her eyes gradually turning red.
She had a very important livestream coming up soon. If she could get Yu Li to help her promote products, she would definitely make a fortune. But Yu Li had cut ties with her so abruptly. What was she supposed to do…
Shi Yi took a deep breath, wiped away her tears, and made a call.
A boisterous voice shouted from the other end: “Who? What? Who’s trying to wake me up in the middle of the night?”
“Aubrey, it’s me. Can you do me a favor?”
There was a pause on the other line. “Shi Yi? What kind of favor?”
“I want Yu Li back by my side,” Shi Yi said, biting her lip. “Once it’s done, I’ll give you whatever you want.”
“Even my body.”
