After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 21
Due to their excellent performances on the recent variety show, Sister Zhang had already arranged a new series of appearances for them, waiting for the pair to jump straight into a busy schedule as soon as the movie wrapped.
Filming for Flower Branch was nearing its end. Arriving at the set this morning, Yu Li and Tao Ran were swept up in a whirlwind of activity. When they finally found a moment of downtime, Lin Lin insisted on sharing a hilarious video she’d found.
Infected by Lin Lin’s laughter, Yu Li couldn’t help but chuckle. As she looked up, she glimpsed a familiar figure flashing past among the extras outside the van’s window.
That lazy, sauntering gait… it looked a lot like… Aubrey?
Yu Li shook her head. How could Aubrey be here? She had made it clear to that group of “fox friends” at the bar last time that she wouldn’t be returning.
While Yu Li was privately wondering, a staff member walked over. “Sister Yu Li, Director Wang said there are a few shots of yours that need to be retaken.”
“I’ll be right there.”
“I’m coming too,” Lin Lin added.
Just as Yu Li and Lin Lin left, Tao Ran returned. Finding the van empty, she sat on the soft leather sofa and focused on her script. She read for half an hour until a commotion broke out outside the vehicle.
Two security guards stationed outside were blocking someone. “Miss, you cannot go over there.”
“I’m a friend of the two leads. Why won’t you let me through?”
Tao Ran frowned, set down her script, and leaned halfway out of the van. She saw an unfamiliar Alpha arguing with the guards. The woman had a roguish air, long wavy hair, and a beauty mark at the corner of her eye.
Aubrey caught sight of Tao Ran and whistled. “Hey baby, recognize me? I’m Yu Li’s friend. I wonder if she’s ever mentioned me to you.”
Tao Ran rolled her eyes. She didn’t want to know a single one of the Scumbag Alpha’s “friends.”
“Don’t be in such a hurry to leave. Aren’t you curious about how Yu Li managed to marry you in the first place?”
Tao Ran froze. Aubrey continued: “Back then, your father was tricked into committing perjury and ended up in massive debt. It was Yu Li who cleared those debts for the Tao family, which is why you married her, right?”
Tao Ran turned to look at her, her expression unreadable. Aubrey knew she didn’t have much of a chance of convincing Tao Ran, but she pressed on regardless. “It’s no secret in our circle. And… don’t you find Yu Li’s behavior after the wedding very strange? It’s like she’s a different person. Don’t you want to know why?”
In an instant, ripples appeared in the depths of Tao Ran’s eyes. She took a deep breath and told the security guards, “Let her over.”
Aubrey shot a triumphant look at the guards, straightened her collar, and strolled over to Tao Ran. As Tao Ran sat on the leather sofa, Aubrey grinned and prepared to step inside, but Tao Ran suddenly slammed the door shut with a loud thud, leaving only a window open.
“If you have something to say, say it directly.”
Aubrey leaned against the window, took a deep breath of the air inside the van, and smiled. “So fragrant. The scent of white musk… no wonder Yu Li doesn’t want other Omegas anymore now that she has you. Setting everything else aside, your pheromones are top-tier.”
Aubrey gave off a heavy smell of cheap cigarettes. Tao Ran felt like gagging and said coldly, “You can leave now.”
Aubrey pulled a card from her pocket and tossed it toward Tao Ran.
“It’s not convenient to talk here. I’ll wait for you here tonight at nine o’clock. I’ll tell you everything you want to know. Be there or be square.”
Tao Ran picked up the card; it was a promotional flyer for a bar called “The Night.” She had a vivid memory of this place—it was the home base for Yu Li and her scumbag gang in her previous life. Every time Yu Li came back from carousing there, Tao Ran would see various lipstick stains on her neck.
“I’ve seen the Hot Searches lately. Yu Li seems to be treating you well, but you don’t really think she’s being sincere without an ulterior motive, do you?”
“I’ve said my piece. Whether you come is up to you. If you do, I can tell you all of Yu Li’s secrets.”
As Aubrey turned to leave, Tao Ran suddenly said in a low voice, “I can go, but I have conditions.”
“Name them.”
“I’ll go, but there can only be three people present including myself. If there is even one extra person, I’ll turn around and leave immediately.” Tao Ran gave a soft smile that felt like a spring breeze, but her eyes glinted with cold sharpness.
“There won’t be a third person, baby. Just you and me.”
“I just saw you with Shi Yi,” Tao Ran said, her lips curling into a cunning smile. “I don’t think my eyes played tricks on me.”
“I imagine both you and Shi Yi have things you want to say to me.”
I underestimated her, Aubrey thought. I thought she was just a trophy wife.
She smirked. “Fine. Just the three of us. Nine o’clock tonight. Don’t be late.”
“And one more thing. I hope our conversation just now won’t be heard by Yu Li. Otherwise, there are things you’ll never get to know.”
Tao Ran leaned back into the sofa and let out a soft snort, tucking the promotional card into a crevice of the cushions.
She was going to find a way to let Yu Li know.
Twenty minutes later, in a locked public restroom a few kilometers away from the set, the faint sound of a woman’s moaning could be heard.
“Don’t… not here…” Shi Yi blushed and grabbed the hands of the woman behind her who was stoking fires everywhere.
Aubrey bit Shi Yi’s earlobe and chuckled. “Baby, I’ve put a lot on the line to help you. I offended Tao Ran today; I won’t be able to hang around this area anymore. I’ll have to tuck my tail and get the hell out of here.”
Shi Yi bit her lower lip, her black eyeliner smudged, her crimson lips slightly parted. Sweat-drenched hair stuck to her temples, giving her a look of tragic beauty.
“Tch,” Aubrey dropped the cigarette in her mouth and crushed it with her foot. She lifted Shi Yi’s chin and whispered, “Since we’ve known each other for years and you’re not bad looking, why don’t you just stay with me?”
“Shut up! If you’re going to mark me, do it quickly before someone finds us!”
Aubrey snorted and pinned her fiercely against the door. As she started to pull at her clothes, Shi Yi suddenly grabbed her wrist. “Are you sure Tao Ran will take the bait?”
“Duh.” Aubrey lowered her head to gnaw at her neck, murmuring, “I can tell Tao Ran actually has feelings for Yu Li. When I said Yu Li used schemes to marry her, she didn’t react much. But when I said Yu Li has changed a lot, she got anxious.”
“Then what should we do?” Shi Yi asked urgently.
“Don’t worry, I have a friend at the bar,” Aubrey gave a sinister smile. “She’s been craving Tao Ran for a long time. She wanted to ‘swap wives’ with Yu Li before, but Yu Li didn’t agree.”
“Do you think Yu Li can accept her Omega being marked by someone else? If Tao Ran is marked by another person, will Yu Li still want her?”
Shi Yi finally closed her eyes in satisfaction, letting Aubrey slide her hand inside her clothes.
Once she succeeded, she would become Mrs. Yu and enjoy endless wealth and glory.
Perhaps because she was being mentioned by acquaintances too many times today, Yu Li couldn’t stop sneezing during her retakes. Back in the van, Lin Shen looked at her lips—where the lipstick had been almost entirely rubbed off—and couldn’t help but laugh.
“No color left on your lips at all. Are you sure these retakes will even pass?”
Yu Li let out a surprised gasp. “Is it that ugly?”
“It’s okay. You’re naturally beautiful, after all.” Lin Shen pinned back her blonde hair and used a lip brush to dab some color onto Yu Li’s lips.
Yu Li hadn’t known Lin Shen for long, but she had a general understanding of this female Alpha. She was open-minded, eccentric, bright, and easy to talk to. She seemed a bit “scummy,” but her makeup skills were incredible—streets ahead of those scumbag Alphas at the bar who only knew how to party.
However, her thoughts jumped around too much. Yu Li, being a straightforward person, sometimes couldn’t keep up.
As Lin Shen applied the makeup, she suddenly wore a meaningful smile. “Oh, by the way, you’ll never guess what I found while I was out wandering past a public restroom.”
“A lot of flies?”
“Have some imagination, will you?” Lin Shen’s long lashes fluttered. She whispered, “Someone was doing bad things in the restroom.”
“Really?” Yu Li spoke so loudly her lip glaze went crooked.
Lin Shen tutted. “Probably a couple of cheaters. They really didn’t mind the filth.”
“And then?”
“That’s it.”
Yu Li looked at her skeptically.
“Okay, fine. I actually went over and knocked on their door. That Omega was screaming quite loudly, but as soon as I knocked, she was too scared to even breathe.”
Yu Li frowned. “That’s pretty mean of you.”
“I just wanted to remind you… don’t go getting cheated on one day without even knowing it.”
Yu Li: “???”
“Your mind jumps way too far. What do you mean, cheated on?”
“Nothing. I just saw a female Alpha chatting with Tao Ran by the car earlier.”
Yu Li froze, blinking in confusion.
“I know you’ve become a bit ‘slow’ since getting married, but you can’t be so stupid that you don’t know your wife is getting cozy with someone else.”
Yu Li gently pushed Lin Shen away, alarm bells ringing in her heart. She looked at Lin Shen, her voice carrying an imperceptible tremor. “What did that Alpha say to Tao Ran?”
“I don’t have super-hearing; it was too far away. but I could see that Alpha was acting flirtatious. She looked like bad news.”
“Who was she? A supporting actress or…?”
Lin Shen narrowed her eyes, propping her chin on her hand. “Not an actress. She was a stranger, looked like an extra.”
“An extra?” Somehow, the image of Aubrey flashed through Yu Li’s mind again.
“Pay attention to what Tao Ran is doing and saying lately. In short, don’t be too careless.”
“No,” Yu Li said. “I think I should go find Tao Ran and ask her directly right now.”
