Yu Li saw the caller ID displaying “Sister Zhang” and answered the phone with a sense of trepidation.

She had promised Sister Zhang that she wouldn’t cause any trouble, yet in the blink of an eye, this massive stunt had unfolded. She was terrified that the manager would be livid.

She let out a tiny, mosquito-like “Hello,” and there was a long silence on the other end.

Yu Li hummed in response, listened to the schedule for the next few days, and hung up. She rubbed her temples and walked toward Tao Ran’s bedroom.

Standing at the door, she asked softly, “Are you asleep?”

“Come in,” Tao Ran’s voice was calm.

Yu Li pushed the door open. Tao Ran was sitting on the bed, looking down at a script. She was wearing her green slip dress, and the whip marks on her arms were still quite visible. Yu Li felt a pang of guilt and instinctively averted her eyes.

“Sister Zhang said the incident has nothing to do with us and they aren’t investigating. Felina’s sales are up, and the brand is very grateful. But…” Yu Li took a deep breath. “I wanted to ask you why you did it.”

Tao Ran didn’t speak for a long time. When Yu Li hesitantly looked at her, she found the girl gazing back with eyes shimmering with tears.

Yu Li panicked instantly. “Hey, what’s wrong? Don’t cry.”

Yu Li’s heart jolted. Tao Ran continued, “Other people’s ribbon-cutting ceremonies are attended by couples, but we…”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t consider your feelings. The schedule was set half a month ago, and I thought you wouldn’t want to go out since you were injured, so…”

“Then who is that girl you called ‘Shi Yi’ this morning?
