After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 9
Yu Li made sure to wrap herself up tightly as usual before daring to step out. Walking along the street to the entrance of “The Night,” she watched the swaying shadows and the colorful beams of light interlacing across the walls and floors. A strong sense of discomfort welled up inside her.
Do I really have to come to a place like this? As she hesitated at the door, a bartender approached, sized her up, and immediately flashed a smile. “Sister Yu, you’re here?”
“You are…”
“You’ve finally arrived. This way, please…”
Utterly lost, Yu Li was ushered into a VIP private room. The moment she stepped inside, a cloud of cigarette smoke hit her, making her cough. A group of female Alphas dressed in black were sitting around; a row of empty liquor bottles lined the table, and the ashtray was overflowing with stubs.
When they saw Yu Li, they froze for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“Haven’t seen you in a few days, and now Sister Yu is acting all timid? Where’s that superstar aura?”
“Word is that Tao Ran is quite something. Has she actually managed to suppress Sister Yu?”
“How is that possible? Sister Yu is just enjoying the novelty. She’ll toss her aside in a few days.”
A woman with a mole at the corner of her eye stood up, walked over, and draped an arm around Yu Li’s shoulder. “Prompt as always today.”
Yu Li recognized her as Aubrey, the one she had spoken to on the phone. “I came here to…”
“Don’t waste words at the door. Come over and talk.” Aubrey pulled Yu Li down onto a soft sofa.
The group began clamoring for Yu Li to foot the bill. Yu Li picked up the menu, glanced at it, and said, “Three bottles of Brandy, two bottles of Hennessy, and two bottles of Whiskey.”
“Is that enough?”
Everyone stared in stunned silence.
“Not enough? Then add—”
“Wait a sec, Sister Yu. Are you sure you want to order all those today?”
“Brandy, Whiskey, AND Hennessy? Am I dreaming?”
Those types of liquor cost tens of thousands per bottle. Ordering seven meant dropping over a hundred thousand yuan in one go. Yu Li’s family was indeed wealthy, and she usually spent a few thousand a bottle when out drinking, but they had never seen her act like this.
Yu Li said decisively, “I’m sure.”
The thought of Yu Li treating them to the most expensive liquor thrilled the group. They clapped and cheered, except for Aubrey, who blew a smoke ring and watched Yu Li calmly through the thick haze.
The seven bottles were brought to the glass table. As the others scrambled to open them, Yu Li suddenly stood up, opened a bottle of Whiskey, and poured a bit into everyone’s glass.
Then she spoke: “I came here today for two reasons. First, I want to thank you all for your past help. Second…”
Yu Li took a deep breath and looked at Aubrey. “I’m going to be very busy soon. Filming takes a long time, and my opportunities to come here will become fewer. If you need help with anything, you can come to me. If it’s within my power, I will certainly do it.”
“Also, I’ve decided to return to my family and be serious with Tao Ran. If you truly consider me a friend, please respect my wife and my family.”
“I have things to do, so I’ll be leaving now.”
The mood in the room soured instantly. No wonder she’s being so generous—she’s paying us off to end the friendship.
Yu Li turned to leave, but a round of applause sounded behind her. A female Alpha in a blue hoodie walked over, patted Yu Li’s shoulder, and raised her glass to the group.
“Sister Yu has had enough of the wild life and wants to go back to being a good woman. That’s a good thing! Everyone, let’s have a drink and give our Sister Yu our blessings.”
The others looked unhappy as they sullenly took a sip, their eyes fixed on Yu Li.
The woman in the blue hoodie smiled and said to Yu Li, “Sister Yu, aren’t you in a hurry? I’ll walk you out.”
Yu Li suspected nothing and followed her out. As soon as the door closed, the woman leaned in and whispered, “Sister Yu, what you just said… were you serious?”
Yu Li pursed her lips. She didn’t know how many people had asked that today. She looked at her and said word for word, “Yes, I am serious. Please convey my sincerity to everyone. From now on, I am returning to my family to work hard and live a good life.”
“Is that so?” she sneered. “Then what about what you promised me?”
“What did I promise you?”
She licked her lips with a reckless, debauched expression. “Didn’t we agree? Once you married Tao Ran, you’d hand her over to me to play with for a couple of days?”
“What did you say?!” Yu Li violently shoved her away, her face flushed with rage.
The woman’s hand, which had been reaching for Yu Li, hung in mid-air before she awkwardly pulled it back.
Yu Li stared at her coldly. “I’m warning you: don’t even think about touching Tao Ran!”
“You can play with her but I can’t? Hey, what’s wrong with you today? Why are you getting aggressive with me over a woman you just bought with money?” The blue-clad Alpha scrutinized her, a smirk returning to her face.
“I get it. Don’t worry, I don’t take things for free. See that little girl by the bar? You take her, and give me Tao Ran for one night.”
“I know you like things ‘clean,’ Sister Yu. I hand-picked that Omega for you—she’s never been marked. How about we trade?”
She finished by whistling at an Omega by the bar wearing a body-con skirt and a tight tube top. The latter blew a kiss and walked over, swaying her hips like a water snake.
But Yu Li didn’t even give her a glance. She shoved the blue-clad Alpha, spat out the word “Psycho,” and turned to walk out of the bar.
“Dammit, don’t refuse a gesture of goodwill.” The blue-clad Alpha gave a signal, and the little Omega rushed forward, hugging Yu Li from behind.
A heavy scent of lemon pheromones surrounded her. Unfortunately for her, Yu Li hated lemons; she even avoided lemon-flavored candy.
“Miss, please have some self-respect!” The moment Yu Li shook her off, a flashbulb went off outside the bar.
Oh no, a paparazzi?
Despite wearing a mask, Yu Li instinctively shielded her face. Outside the bar, a woman in a trench coat and a baseball cap was holding a phone. She had snapped a photo of her through the glass and was now turning to run.
Dammit, she’d been caught. But no one had followed her home earlier, and she hadn’t told anyone she was going out. How did a paparazzi know her schedule?
Yu Li chased after her like the wind. Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She glanced at it, wanting to decline, but the caller was Tao Ran.
“Ranran, what’s wrong?”
Tao Ran let out a soft, gentle hum. “Nothing. I just couldn’t sleep, and then I realized you weren’t home. I didn’t know where you went, so I just wanted to call and hear your voice.”
Tao Ran’s voice was incredibly pleasant. A few sweet words were enough to make Yu Li’s heart race. But the paparazzi had already reached the other side of the road; this was no time for romance.
“I miss you too, but right now I—”
“Ah—!”
Tao Ran’s scream made Yu Li’s heart tighten. She stopped in her tracks. “What happened?”
The other end went silent. Yu Li gripped her phone tighter. “What is it, Ranran? Are you okay?”
“Ah, it’s nothing. I just accidentally bumped into something.”
Yu Li breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up, but the paparazzi was long gone.
“As long as you’re okay. I’m on my way home now.”
“It’s so late. Don’t rush, be careful on the road.”
Yu Li hung up, sighed, and immediately called Sister Zhang to tell her exactly what had happened.
Sister Zhang comforted her: “It’s fine. I’ll have people watch the Hot Searches. You were wearing a mask anyway. Even if we can’t suppress the search, we can sue the paparazzi for slander.”
“It’s not that. I’m just worried…”
“Worried about what?”
“Worried about Tao Ran.”
Sister Zhang froze. She almost blurted out: What does this have to do with Tao Ran?
Yu Li sat on a roadside bench for a while. Tao Ran was sensitive and lacked security. She was already worried about Yu Li fooling around; if some unscrupulous media outlet wrote a malicious report and Tao Ran believed it, what would she do?
As soon as Tao Ran hung up, she received a text from her assistant, Lin Lin. Attached was a slightly blurry photo. In the photo, a masked Yu Li was being hugged from behind by a strange woman.
“I’m sorry, Sister Ranran. I messed up. I forgot to turn off the flash when I took the photo, and she spotted me,” Lin Lin said.
“She didn’t see your face, did she?” Tao Ran asked quickly.
Lin Lin replied: “No, I was wearing a mask too.”
“That’s good. She’s never seen you; she won’t have any impression of you.”
Tao Ran stared at the photo, still somewhat in disbelief. Getting “black material” photos of Yu Li cheating after marriage and making them public was something she had wanted to do in her previous life but never succeeded at.
The old Yu Li was cautious and meticulous. Even while being a philanderer, she never left a trail. Before going out, she would have Sister Zhang hire people to sweep the area to ensure there were no suspicious people or paparazzi. She also regularly checked the cameras at home to ensure Tao Ran was under her control.
But now, Yu Li’s vigilance seemed to have vanished into thin air. It was as if… she had never been a celebrity before.
Yu Li had actually been caught today by an amateur like Lin Lin, leaving such a huge opening and letting her get away.
Linking together all of Yu Li’s behavior over the past two days, Tao Ran pondered for a long time before sending a voice message to Lin Lin.
“Do you think it’s possible for a person to actually become someone else?”
