After Becoming an Alpha, I Became a Charmer (GL) - Chapter 10
Ruan Wu didn’t understand. “Aren’t you short on money? Do you think ten thousand is not enough?”
“No,” Xia Zhiyu’s eyes darted around. “That night was just an accident. I don’t know if there should be a next time.”
“Since it’s not about the price, there’s no need to hesitate. Once there’s a first time, what’s the big deal about a second? Practice makes perfect. It’s settled. I’ll get you the contract this afternoon.” Ruan Wu didn’t like to dawdle. She said directly, “Go back to work.”
Xia Zhiyu was a step too slow and was ushered out of the office by Ruan Wu, who didn’t want any further discussion.
Back in the secretary’s office, Xia Zhiyu’s mind kept replaying Ruan Wu’s words while she worked, and the heat on her face wouldn’t subside.
She admitted that Ruan Wu was beautiful, and the experience that night was great, but Ruan Wu was the charming female lead! If those Alphas found out about her secret arrangement with Ruan Wu, she would surely die a miserable death.
But…
Xia Zhiyu touched her own face. Ruan Wu was better at exploiting those Alphas than anyone. As long as they kept it private, she probably wouldn’t be discovered.
And regardless of anything else, Ruan Wu’s face was very much to her liking.
Around four o’clock in the afternoon, Xia Zhiyu was called into the CEO’s office by Ruan Wu’s internal phone line.
Ruan Wu was looking at a sheet of A4 paper on her desk, her downcast eyes hidden beneath her long lashes.
“Ms. Ruan,” Xia Zhiyu called out, guessing that the paper was the contract Ruan Wu had drawn up for their “sugar baby” arrangement (a massive misunderstanding).
As expected, Ruan Wu slid the paper towards Xia Zhiyu and said, “Take a look. If there are no issues, sign it.”
“Okay, Ms. Ruan.” Xia Zhiyu picked up the paper and read it. Analyzing it clause by clause, she found that the terms were mostly related to “confidentiality,” which immediately eased her mind.
Their goals were aligned. Excellent.
After reading it, she immediately picked up the pen next to it and signed her name.
“Ms. Ruan, whenever you need me, just contact me. I won’t do anything in public to let this be discovered.”
Xia Zhiyu maintained a professional demeanor, showing no abnormal signs aside from her persistently flushed ears. Ruan Wu nodded, pleased with her compliance.
“Go back to work.”
After Xia Zhiyu left the CEO’s office, Ruan Wu sent a message to Song Yourui.
RuanWu: She agreed. She’s signed the contract.
SongYourui: Congratulations! You’re so lucky to have met someone like her.
Ruan Wu also felt lucky. Most Alphas were arrogant and wouldn’t easily agree to such unequal terms. It was only because Xia Zhiyu had just differentiated into an Alpha and hadn’t developed that mindset yet that Ruan Wu had been able to take advantage of the situation.
SongYourui: By the way, how long is the term you set?
RuanWu: Three years. In three years, I’ll be thirty. My body’s need for Alpha pheromones will decrease, and I won’t need her as much then.
SongYourui: Spoken like a true CEO. Excellent plan (Thumbs-up).
For the next half-month, Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu had virtually no interaction outside of work and the daily lunch routine. Xia Zhiyu was so dutiful that it seemed as if they hadn’t signed any contract at all, which only pleased Ruan Wu more.
Having a “tool” felt incredibly convenient.
It was a beautiful April, and the Ruan Group organized an annual spring outing to allow employees to take a break from their busy work and enjoy the season.
When Xia Zhiyu compiled the list, she found that out of more than 600 employees, only over 200 had signed up. Most Omegas and some Betas chose to skip the outing and stay at work.
She looked at previous years’ lists and found the trend was the same.
The locations the company chose seemed fine—they were all places with pleasant scenery. Was work really that appealing?
Obviously not.
There had to be another reason, perhaps department heads secretly forcing employees to stay and work overtime.
The HR, finance, and technology departments had the highest concentration of Omegas, so they had the fewest sign-ups. Xia Zhiyu decided to visit them personally to see if she could find out the reason.
The Technology Department was on the same floor as the CEO’s office, so Xia Zhiyu went there first.
When Xia Zhiyu walked in, the employees working there were too busy to notice her.
Xia Zhiyu walked behind the closest employee and watched his fingers dance quickly over the keyboard, displaying a segment of code on the screen.
It was complete, but not concise enough. Xia Zhiyu couldn’t help but point at the screen. “You can simplify this part.”
The programmer was startled and stopped typing. He looked at the place Xia Zhiyu was pointing to and thought for a moment. “I can’t figure out how to simplify it further. Do you know how?” He turned his head to see who was giving him advice.
Xia Zhiyu’s beautiful face came into view. The programmer’s face immediately darkened as if he had seen something dirty. Judging by his expression, he looked like he was about to vomit.
“It’s you? What are you doing here?” The programmer stood up from his chair, watching Xia Zhiyu’s already withdrawn hand vigilantly.
The two stood face-to-face. The programmer’s body was tense, and one foot was behind the other, ready to run.
Xia Zhiyu didn’t need to guess that the original “Xia Zhiyu” had definitely done something to him before.
She searched her memories for the male Omega in front of her. Sure enough, the original “Xia Zhiyu” had harassed him, and not long ago. If Xia Zhiyu hadn’t entered this body, the original “Xia Zhiyu” might have already driven him away.
The male Omega in front of her was Yu Qingyi. He came from a privileged background and joined the Ruan Group because he admired Ruan Wu.
A month ago, when Yu Qingyi first joined the company, the original “Xia Zhiyu” accidentally saw him being picked up and dropped off by a luxury car and immediately got an idea, trying to get close to him all the time.
Yu Qingyi was so annoyed that he considered quitting. He was there for Ruan Wu, but rarely saw her.
Yu Qingyi had even submitted his resignation, but then Xia Zhiyu suddenly stopped harassing him. His supervisor, who valued his skills, strongly urged him to stay, so Yu Qingyi dropped the idea of quitting.
He had only had peace for half a month, and now Xia Zhiyu was back.
Xia Zhiyu’s mood was complicated as she faced Yu Qingyi’s resentful gaze. “I’m sorry, I startled you. I didn’t know you were writing code. I came to the Technology Department for the spring outing matter, not to find you.”
Yu Qingyi’s gaze was still wary. Who knows if Xia Zhiyu is lying to make me drop my guard?
“Anyway, I’ll try to stay away from you in the future. Don’t be afraid. I’ll simplify your code as an apology.”
Seeing that words were useless, Xia Zhiyu immediately apologized through action. She turned around and quickly typed a few keys, rewriting Yu Qingyi’s code—which he had spent half an hour on—into a two- or three-line, simplified version.
Yu Qingyi didn’t have time to stop her. He watched helplessly as Xia Zhiyu deleted an hour’s worth of his work.
Yu Qingyi was so angry he was about to cry. Tears welled up in his already furious eyes. “Are you ever going to stop?! All I want is for you to leave me alone! Is that so difficult?!”
Yu Qingyi raised his voice, drawing the attention of everyone else who was working.
Seeing that it was Xia Zhiyu, they all looked knowing.
Someone secretly called the department manager. The manager walked out of the inner office. Seeing the situation, he didn’t panic. He smiled and greeted Xia Zhiyu, then told the others, “Take Xiao Yu to wash his face.”
“Secretary Xia, what a surprise to see you. Did Ms. Ruan have some instructions for us?”
After Yu Qingyi left, Xia Zhiyu nodded. “Minister Li, I actually came to see you about something.” This was a subtle way of clarifying that she wasn’t here to harass Yu Qingyi.
Minister Li and Xia Zhiyu went into the inner office to talk. About ten minutes later, Xia Zhiyu emerged and left immediately.
Yu Qingyi calmed down and returned to his desk, finding a few colleagues gathered there, excitedly discussing something.
Seeing Yu Qingyi return, they comforted him for a moment and then asked, “Qingyi, did you write this piece of code?”
The mention of code made Yu Qingyi almost cry again. Before he could say that Xia Zhiyu had messed with it, his colleague continued, “I just ran it. It’s so smooth. Qingyi, you’re amazing.”
Yu Qingyi: “…” Huh?
At this moment, the incident of Xia Zhiyu coming to the Technology Department and making the rich and handsome Yu Qingyi cry had already been discussed at length in the group chat.
