After Becoming an Alpha, I Became a Charmer (GL) - Chapter 13
GodOfComputers: I have to say. That fish has a little bit of amazingness in her.
LemonHead: Thank goodness for the god who gave her secondary differentiation (Praying hands).
Before leaving work, Xia Zhiyu sent an email to all employees stating that Ruan Wu would participate in the spring outing.
The next morning, Xia Zhiyu arrived at the company and first went to the CEO’s office to report the day’s schedule. Just as she was about to return to her office, Ruan Wu suddenly called out to her.
Xia Zhiyu turned around. “Ms. Ruan, is there anything else you need?”
Ruan Wu didn’t look at her, keeping her eyes on the computer screen, and said as if she didn’t care, “Get me the latest spring outing list before noon.”
Xia Zhiyu was slightly stunned. She recovered quickly, her smile radiant. “Of course, Ms. Ruan~”
The female lead is so tsundere. I’m starting to appreciate the cuteness of tsundere.
Xia Zhiyu thought the list wouldn’t be ready so quickly since the department heads would need to re-tally. However, less than half an hour into her work, Minister Li messaged her.
MinisterLi: Secretary Xia, my employees keep urging me to ask you: have you checked the latest spring outing list yet?
XiaZhiyu: I planned to check the email at eleven. Has your department confirmed the list so quickly?
MinisterLi: Yes! Everyone was so excited when they heard Ms. Ruan was going. Everyone in our department is going!
XiaZhiyu: Please don’t let it be a herd mentality. It must be genuinely voluntary. The company’s goal is for everyone to relax and have fun.
MinisterLi: Absolutely no reluctance or unhappiness. The reason everyone is rushing me is that they’re afraid too many people will sign up and there won’t be enough vehicles for them to go.
Xia Zhiyu opened her email and found that the heads of all ten-plus departments had already sent in their final lists.
This active?
Xia Zhiyu was genuinely surprised this time.
She knew Ruan Wu was influential, but she didn’t realize just how influential. If Ruan Wu wanted to form a country without Alphas, a whole group of people would probably follow her.
She opened the lists for each department. As expected, almost every employee in every department had signed up. Those who didn’t sign up were likely genuinely unable to leave due to family matters.
Xia Zhiyu confirmed the list and immediately booked vehicles and rooms. Since the properties belonged to the Ruan Group, accommodating such a large, last-minute increase in beds was manageable.
She also took note of the dozen or so Alpha leaders from the branch companies. Xia Zhiyu placed them in rooms farthest from Ruan Wu and planned activities to keep them separated from Ruan Wu as much as possible.
Alphas were fanatical about Ruan Wu, and there would definitely be unexpected situations. Xia Zhiyu had considered all of them.
Ruan Wu was only going because Xia Zhiyu persuaded her, so Xia Zhiyu couldn’t let her have an unpleasant time.
The final confirmed list was sent to all departments. The employees who saw their names on the list were overjoyed; those who couldn’t go could only look on with envy.
When Xia Zhiyu went to the cafeteria at noon, the employees who usually avoided her actually smiled at her. Xia Zhiyu was slightly stunned and immediately smiled back.
If she could one day integrate into the company and not be treated as an enemy, she knew it would all be thanks to Ruan Wu.
Following Ruan Wu is definitely the right path.
Xia Zhiyu suddenly felt inspired and changed Ruan Wu’s contact name to “Goddess of Fortune” and pinned it to the top.
That evening, Xia Zhiyu packed her luggage. She suddenly wondered if Ruan Wu knew what to bring for a trip. Should she, as her secretary, remind her?
XiaZhiyu: Ms. Ruan, are you asleep?
Goddess of Fortune: …
Xia Zhiyu looked at her watch. It was only a little past seven. Her opening line was awkward.
XiaZhiyu: Ms. Ruan, do you know what to bring for the trip?
Goddess of Fortune: You don’t know?
Of course, I know. I’m afraid you don’t.
But Xia Zhiyu wouldn’t say that directly and make Ruan Wu lose face.
XiaZhiyu: Ms. Ruan, although this isn’t my first spring outing, as you know, I still have a lot of debt, and I was reluctant to buy a lot of things. Now that I have an extra income and money to spend, I don’t know what I should buy (Crying emoji).
Ruan Wu didn’t reply for a long time. Xia Zhiyu thought Ruan Wu was too annoyed to talk to her anymore. Just as she was about to put down her phone and take a shower, Ruan Wu sent a list.
Goddess of Fortune: Find affordable alternatives yourself.
Xia Zhiyu opened the list and was almost blinded by the various big-name brands listed there.
But the list was very comprehensive, proving that Ruan Wu knew what to bring.
XiaZhiyu: Ms. Ruan, you are too kind! Thank you, Ms. Ruan~
Goddess of Fortune: .
Xia Zhiyu set her alarm for 5 a.m. and woke up on time. After washing up, she took a surprisingly luxurious taxi with her luggage straight to the company.
The usually empty area in front of the Ruan Group’s main entrance was packed with buses. Each bus could carry fifty people, so the over 600 employees required a total of thirteen buses.
The taxi stopped a short distance away. The driver couldn’t help but sigh. “Big companies are great. I wonder what event is causing such a big commotion. I hear renting these high-end buses isn’t cheap, and there are more than ten of them.”
Xia Zhiyu paid the fare and smiled. “They’re taking employees on a spring outing, so everything has to be the best. But these buses aren’t rented; they belong to the company.”
Stepping out of the taxi, Xia Zhiyu retrieved her suitcase from the trunk. She glanced around but didn’t see Ruan Wu. She put her luggage into one of the buses, walked to the side, and looked down to send Ruan Wu a WeChat message.
XiaZhiyu: Ms. Ruan, I’m downstairs at the company. The bus we’re taking has the license plate XXXX. You can get straight on when you arrive. I’m going up to the office to get your laptop now.
Xia Zhiyu sent the message and went into the company. When she came out, her phone rang. She looked down and saw it was Ruan Wu calling. She realized Ruan Wu had sent several messages earlier that she hadn’t seen.
Xia Zhiyu answered the call while walking toward the bus. “Ms. Ruan, I’ve already come down with your laptop.”
Ruan Wu said, “Look behind you.”
Xia Zhiyu turned around and saw a luxury car famous for its performance but extremely high price.
“Get in,” Ruan Wu said before hanging up.
Xia Zhiyu looked at her phone. It was still one minute before six. She walked up to the car, bent down slightly, and knocked on the window. The window slowly rolled down. “Ms. Ruan, my luggage is still on the bus.”
Ruan Wu glared at her. “Is the bus going to run away, or is your luggage going to get lost? I’m giving you three seconds to get in, or you’ll have to run…”
Before Ruan Wu could finish her sentence, Xia Zhiyu had already pulled open the door and sat in the seat next to Ruan Wu, sitting very obediently. “Ms. Ruan, you’re right. The bus won’t run away, and my luggage won’t get lost. Driver, let’s go.”
The destination was five hours away from the company. Many people fell asleep soon after getting on the buses.
Only the people who were supposed to be on the same bus as Ruan Wu were anxiously unable to sleep.
After the car started moving, Xia Zhiyu’s phone began to vibrate non-stop.
She unlocked her phone, opened WeChat, and, as expected, it was messages from the people on that bus, asking why she and Ruan Wu hadn’t boarded and expressing their anxiety about whether Ruan Wu was really going.
Xia Zhiyu quickly typed a message and sent it in a group chat to reassure them.
XiaZhiyu: Everyone, please don’t worry. Ms. Ruan and I have already set off with you. Ms. Ruan needs to deal with work and was worried about affecting your mood for the outing on the bus, so we didn’t take the same vehicle. You’ll see Ms. Ruan when we reach the destination. Please don’t worry, get some rest, and wake up energized to see Ms. Ruan.
The car was driving smoothly. Ruan Wu should have been immersed in her work, but Xia Zhiyu’s constant typing was too annoying.
“Secretary Xia, are you very busy?” Ruan Wu asked, displeased.
Xia Zhiyu looked up at Ruan Wu, puzzled. “Ms. Ruan, I’m fine. I’m not too busy. Is there something you need me to do?”
She had already soothed the department heads and elite employees and skillfully closed the chat interface. Ruan Wu’s gaze unintentionally swept past and suddenly noticed that one of Xia Zhiyu’s WeChat contacts was named “Goddess of Fortune” and was pinned at the top.
Xia Zhiyu’s finger was covering the profile picture, so Ruan Wu only saw the name.
She suppressed her anger and asked calmly, “Who were you chatting with just now?”
She wasn’t the type to accuse people arbitrarily, so she would ask clearly before convicting Xia Zhiyu.
“Chatting?” Xia Zhiyu was confused about why Ruan Wu suddenly asked this. She answered truthfully, “We were supposed to take the same bus as Minister Li and the others, but they were disappointed not to see you, so I was just comforting them.”
Ruan Wu’s lips pressed into a thin line. Xia Zhiyu was lying. She couldn’t recall anyone on that bus having the WeChat name “Goddess of Fortune.”
