“I’ll give you one more chance,” Ruan Wu said, her misty dark eyes signaling an impending storm.

Xia Zhiyu didn’t understand why Ruan Wu was suddenly acting like she was catching her in the act, so she simply handed her phone over. “Ms. Ruan, if you don’t believe me, look at my phone. You can check anything. There’s truly nothing inappropriate inside.”

Ruan Wu’s gaze fell on the now-black screen of the phone, and she inwardly scoffed.

Xia Zhiyu is playing reverse psychology. Is she really that sure I won’t look at her phone?

“Ms. Ruan, I’m going to grab my suitcase from the bus and will be right back.”

Xia Zhiyu planned to hand the laptop to the driver, but Ruan Wu intercepted her halfway. “Hurry back.”

“Yes, Ms. Ruan.”

Xia Zhiyu began searching for the bus where she left her luggage, scanning the license plates from near to far. However, after checking all the buses, Xia Zhiyu realized that bus was no longer in the parking lot.

What’s going on?

Xia Zhiyu walked back while calling the driver of that bus to ask about the situation.

The phone was quickly answered. The driver’s voice came through: “Hello? Secretary Xia, what can I do for you?”

Xia Zhiyu explained the situation with the luggage. “Why isn’t your bus in the resort parking lot right now? Where did you go?”

The driver quickly said, “Don’t worry, Secretary Xia. I pulled out to get gas. I’ll be back soon. I’ll call you when I get to the resort, and you can come get your luggage.”

“Okay, thank you for the trouble.” Xia Zhiyu hung up, relieved. As long as the luggage was delivered before she went to bed, everything was fine.

Ruan Wu saw Xia Zhiyu return empty-handed and asked with her eyes, “Where’s your luggage?”

Xia Zhiyu felt relaxed by the beautiful mountain scenery in the distance. She stretched her arms out to embrace the fresh air, smiling as she said, “The bus driver took my suitcase to get gas. He’ll bring it back to me after he’s done.”

“Come in.”

Xia Zhiyu pushed the door open. Ruan Wu was hanging clothes from her suitcase into the closet. Seeing Xia Zhiyu enter, she asked, “What is it?”

“Nothing, Ms. Ruan. I just came to see if you needed any help. Dinner starts in the banquet hall in twenty minutes. You need to go on stage and say a few kind words before dinner, so we should go a little early.”
