Xia Zhiyu certainly wouldn’t let the two men succeed. Their words and actions had already been recorded by the hidden camera above. With the evidence secured, Xia Zhiyu no longer needed to pretend to be drunk. She lifted her leg and kicked Zhou Chong hard in the stomach. The slender heel of her stiletto caused massive damage, and Zhou Chong immediately fell to the ground, howling in pain. Xie Li, standing behind him, was tripped by Zhou Chong and fell backward, his head hitting the shiny tile floor with a sharp “thud.”

During the socializing, Ruan Wu glanced toward Xia Zhiyu’s location but didn’t see her. The group of Alphas who had been surrounding Ruan Wu had also dispersed to chat with others, causing Ruan Wu to subtly frown.

Minister Li noticed this and, thinking Ruan Wu was feeling unwell, quickly said, “Ms. Ruan, you shouldn’t stand in high heels for too long. Why don’t I take you to a booth to rest for a while?”

Ruan Wu said, “No need. I just remembered something I need to tell Secretary Xia. Please go and call her over for me.”

Minister Li didn’t immediately comply but stood there, hesitating.

Ruan Wu sensed something was off. She looked directly at Minister Li and asked, “Do you know where Xia Zhiyu is right now?”

Minister Li first scanned the area and, seeing that everyone around them was from the design department, he relaxed slightly. He leaned closer to Ruan Wu and whispered, “Ms. Ruan, I think Secretary Xia is undertaking a big task.”

He had seen Xia Zhiyu walk toward the restrooms, and shortly after, Zhou Chong and Xie Li had followed. He didn’t know how far things had progressed, but Xia Zhiyu had said she would get the evidence within ten minutes.

Minister Li checked his watch. Seeing that it was almost the ten-minute mark, he immediately said, “Ms. Ruan, time is of the essence right now. I probably can’t explain everything clearly, so how about I take you to Secretary Xia so she can show you herself?”

Ruan Wu didn’t understand what could be so secretive that Xia Zhiyu couldn’t tell her herself, and Minister Li had to lead the way.

A thought flashed through Ruan Wu’s mind. Could Xia Zhiyu be planning to confess her feelings to me?

She didn’t move for a moment. Minister Li, fearing that Xia Zhiyu would be outnumbered, couldn’t help but urge her. “Ms. Ruan, Secretary Xia said it’s imperative that I personally bring you over at this exact time. Any later, and it will be too late.”

“…” Ruan Wu finally took a step and followed the direction Minister Li indicated.

Her mind was in a turmoil. After Minister Li’s explanation, she was even more convinced that Xia Zhiyu was going to confess. Why else would I have to be there, at a fixed time and place…? She recalled that Xia Zhiyu had been out all afternoon, only returning just before the banquet. Could she have been using that time to set up the venue for a confession?

Unexpectedly, after walking only a short distance, Minister Li suddenly stopped and asked, “Ms. Ruan, did you bring your bodyguards? Are they still waiting outside the banquet hall?”

Why is he asking about bodyguards? What do bodyguards have to do with a confession?

“Yes,” Ruan Wu replied.

“That’s great!” Minister Li said excitedly. “Ms. Ruan, you should bring the bodyguards. They can protect you in case you run into danger. Secretary Xia specifically told me about this; I almost forgot.” Minister Li clutched his chest, looking relieved.

Ruan Wu called the bodyguards and asked them to come inside. The four of them then proceeded to the location Minister Li had mentioned.

After walking a little further, just as Ruan Wu began to suspect Minister Li was leading her the wrong way, a man’s scream suddenly echoed from the direction of the restrooms.

Minister Li’s eyes lit up. “Ms. Ruan, Secretary Xia is right here!”

The two bodyguards’ muscles tensed instantly upon hearing the scream. They vigilantly scanned their surroundings, ready to defend Ruan Wu.

Ruan Wu realized her mistake. Xia Zhiyu wasn’t planning a confession; she was up to something else.

“Minister Li, do you know why someone is screaming in there?” The more Ruan Wu listened, the more familiar the male scream sounded.

“Yes, I do!” Minister Li said. Realizing his tone was too gleeful, he composed himself and continued, “That’s probably Secretary Xia defending herself. That’s the sound of a pervert Alpha being hit.”

“What?”

Ruan Wu’s expression instantly changed. She pushed past the two bodyguards blocking her and rushed toward the corner ahead. Turning the corner, she saw two men on the ground groaning in pain, with Xia Zhiyu’s high-heeled shoe planted on one of the men’s hands.

Ruan Wu saw that Xia Zhiyu’s dress was completely intact and let out a sigh of relief. However, the next second, her gaze froze.

There was another person behind Xia Zhiyu. Ruan Wu recognized him—Yu Qingyi, the one Xia Zhiyu had pursued.

Why are those two together?

“Oh my! Qingyi, you’re here too?” Minister Li was equally surprised to see Yu Qingyi when he caught up.

Yu Qingyi looked over at the sound of their voices, his face lighting up with relief. “Minister Li, Ms. Ruan!”

Afraid they would misunderstand, he quickly explained, “Secretary Xia didn’t hit them without reason. I can testify that they were the ones with ill intentions first. Ms. Ruan, please don’t misunderstand Secretary Xia.”

Xia Zhiyu saw that Minister Li had brought Ruan Wu over. She withdrew her foot, and, stepping in her high heels, walked toward the two of them, smiling. “Ms. Ruan, Minister Li, you’ve arrived at the perfect time.”

Ruan Wu instructed the two bodyguards behind her. “Don’t alarm anyone else. Take them to the resort’s clinic.”

The bodyguards looked at Xia Zhiyu. Xia Zhiyu said, “Do as Ms. Ruan says. I’ll stay with Ms. Ruan to protect her from now on. You two look after these two men first.”

The two bodyguards then proceeded to pull the men on the ground to their feet, preparing to take them to the clinic.

As they passed Ruan Wu, the two men suddenly shouted, “Ms. Ruan, save us! Xia Zhiyu is trying to kill us! Help us call the police!”

Instead, the two men were met with Ruan Wu’s intensely cold glare. Their screams instantly stopped. Fear rose from the depths of their hearts. They trembled and went limp, allowing the two bodyguards to pull them away quietly.

“You really are formidable, Ms. Ruan. A single glance is enough to intimidate them,” Xia Zhiyu immediately praised her.

Ruan Wu glared back at her. “Shut up. Follow me.” She turned and walked away with a cold expression.

Xia Zhiyu quickly said goodbye to Minister Li and Yu Qingyi and hurried after her.

Yu Qingyi watched the two of them walk away. When Xia Zhiyu caught up to Ruan Wu, Ruan Wu glared at her again. Yu Qingyi couldn’t help but worry. “Minister Li, those two said their families are connected to the Ruan family. Ms. Ruan wouldn’t punish Secretary Xia because she’s angry, would she?”

“…I don’t think so. Ms. Ruan isn’t the kind of person who mixes personal feelings with business.”

But Ms. Ruan also isn’t the kind of person who gets mad at her subordinates, Minister Li thought. No matter what issue an employee had in the past, Ms. Ruan would only find a solution immediately, rather than blaming the employee. After the problem was solved, she would only give a small punishment according to company regulations. This is the first time I’ve seen Ms. Ruan display her emotions like this. It seems a bit abnormal.

Xia Zhiyu closed the door. When she turned around, she saw Ruan Wu already sitting on the sofa, adopting a posture of stern questioning.

Xia Zhiyu immediately walked to the sofa across from Ruan Wu and sat down. “Ms. Ruan, I was wrong. Please don’t be angry.”

Ruan Wu’s misty eyes fixed on her. “What were you wrong about?”

In a daze, Xia Zhiyu felt exactly like an Alpha who had been out fooling around the night before and was now being questioned by his Omega wife after coming home.

She snapped back to reality, realizing Ruan Wu’s expression was growing increasingly displeased. She quickly said, “Ms. Ruan, I was wrong about everything.”

Xia Zhiyu immediately realized that was the kind of vague answer that would only anger an Omega more. She quickly rectified it. “I shouldn’t have acted on my own without consulting you.”

Ruan Wu’s expression softened slightly, proving Xia Zhiyu was hitting the right points. Xia Zhiyu pressed on. “There were two of them, and both were Alphas. I shouldn’t have been overconfident and caused you to worry about me.”

Ruan Wu’s face changed, and she could no longer maintain her cold expression. “…I wasn’t worried about you. I was merely responsible for the personal safety of my employees.”

Xia Zhiyu nodded. “That’s exactly what I meant, Ms. Ruan. I apologize if my words were ambiguous just now.”

Xia Zhiyu’s explanations were too fast, and Ruan Wu felt the emotion of displeasure creeping back in. She skipped past the topic and asked, “What exactly happened tonight?”

Xia Zhiyu then recounted the entire situation to Ruan Wu. “I only informed the resort staff to install surveillance cameras outside the restroom. Minister Li only found out because he guessed what I was doing, so I told him. Aside from that, I haven’t told anyone. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to worry you with things outside of work.”

“Ms. Ruan, how do you plan to handle those two perverts?”

“Didn’t you already obtain the evidence? They committed a crime, so of course, we’ll report it to the police. As for their positions as general managers of the branch companies, company policy prohibits the employment of people who have committed crimes. We will follow the regulations.”

Xia Zhiyu looked at her with pure admiration. “I knew Ms. Ruan was fair and impartial. That’s why I had Minister Li bring you over at the critical moment.”

“It’s so great that you’re my boss, Ms. Ruan. I really want to stay by your side forever~” She really loves the Omega female lead’s style of handling things.
