After Being Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Scum Alpha - Chapter 2
The master, eyes dark and somber, returned home followed by his silent wife. The servants of the Ducal Mansion all knew that this poor Omega was in for a bad time again.
Lin Chen handed the sleeping Lin Xi to a nearby maid, then followed Yun Qi into the study. As the door closed, the prying eyes of the servants were shut out.
The study had been designed by the late Dowager Duchess in a Nordic style: raw wood paired with brown curtains, and peacock-blue pillows accenting a light brown sofa. It gave off a warm yet lively feeling.
She had hoped this design would soften the facial lines of the father and daughter who both shared a penchant for keeping a stiff, expressionless face.
However, after the old Duke and Duchess passed away, this room became a forbidden zone for the entire estate.
“Yun Qi” had destroyed all portraits of her parents and gradually became tyrannical.
The warm colors paired with the current sinister atmosphere felt inexplicably ironic.
“My Lord.” The silent Omega knelt on her right knee, head bowed low, awaiting the Alpha’s punishment.
Sitting on the sofa, the Alpha looked at her little wife with a half-smile, carelessly tapping her fair fingers on the desk, seemingly contemplating which torture device’s turn it was today.
Inside, Yun Qi was crying silent tears. Although she desperately wanted Scum Value and desperately wanted to go home, she—as a youth of the new era raised under the national flag—truly could not accept using torture devices to torment people. She couldn’t even imagine those terrifying props leaving marks on the frail girl before her.
On the drive back, Yun Qi had recalled more of the original “Yun Qi’s” memories. For instance, the chauvinistic original body refused to recognize the existence of an Omega daughter, which is why the child was named “Lin Xi” instead of “Yun Xi.” She forbade Lin Chen from calling her by name, demanding she be addressed as “My Lord.” She slept in a separate room from Lin Chen and would tell the little Omega that her “ugliness” disgusted her. She loved using various instruments in the study to torture Lin Chen…
Five days ago, because of a bet with a friend over whether Lin Chen could endure 80 lashes, “Yun Qi” had left one glaring scar after another on that thin back.
If this kind of dog-scum Alpha were born in modern society, she’d be sentenced to death!
“Little Scum, if I just let Lin Chen go back to her bedroom, how much Scum Value will be deducted?” Yun Qi frantically called the system in her mind.
[…The deduction function is not available until the Scum Value accumulates to 20.] The system replied after a moment of silence.
“So there’s no deduction?” Yun Qi was pleasantly surprised. This system was quite humane.
[The deduction function is not enabled; however, violating the original persona results in immediate death.]
…
The dog system and the dog Scum Alpha both deserved no house!
Would Yun Qi compromise because of this? Of course not. A successor of socialism, bathed in the glory of the Party since childhood, would never bow to evil forces!
“Little Scum, have you ever heard of the ‘Sustainable Development Strategy’?” The little version of Yun Qi in her mind was smiling, looking incredibly innocent.
The illiterate system refused to take the bait.
“We must view Scum Value through a scientific lens. We cannot give up a vast forest for the sake of momentary profit.”
“Healthy Scum Value development should be built on the sustainability of the ‘production soil’ and the active participation of the people. The goal is to ensure a stable increase in Scum Value while protecting the resources and environment that produce it. We must focus on the continuity of scum-generating activities. Activities beneficial to the environment of Scum Value should be encouraged; otherwise, they should be discarded,” Yun Qi continued to bluff.
The system remained silent. It had never seen such a strange host.
“Think about it. Why is ‘Yun Qi’ scummy? Where is her primary scumminess? Without a doubt, it’s her attitude toward Lin Chen. Therefore, Lin Chen is our most important resource and the ‘soil’ for obtaining Scum Value. We need to maintain her physical health. Lin Chen was whipped only five days ago; her wounds haven’t healed. If we use torture devices again, adding injury to injury might cause irreversible damage. While we get a temporary burst of Scum Value, what about the future?”
Yun Qi paused.
“Later, if I bet with friends again, Lin Chen might not be able to take 80 lashes. If her bodily functions decline, maybe it’s only 70 lashes. The prideful ‘Yun Qi’ would lose face and stop making such bets. We would lose a source of Scum Value.” The little version of Yun Qi in her mind made an exaggerated, heart-clutching gesture of pain.
System: … It actually felt the host had a point.
“Right, Little Scum?” The “Pure White Rabbit” Yun Qi continued to entice.
[…You win.] From that electronic voice, Yun Qi seemed to detect the feeling of a heart attack.
It must be an illusion. She was looking out for Little Scum so painstakingly; how could Little Scum have a heart attack?
“Tch.” The handsome Duke let out a cold snort.
“My shameless wife couldn’t possibly be trying to expose her neck glands to seduce her Alpha, could she?”
The little Omega seemed to want to explain, but her dull personality left her not knowing how to speak.
“I didn’t realize you were so insatiable—barely whipped and yet you can’t wait to seduce your Alpha.” The Duke on the sofa sneered, as if mocking the person before her for overestimating themselves.
“I…”
“Enough. I don’t want my beautiful dreams later to be ruined by someone I loathe.” The young Duke, unable to bear listening to her wife’s explanation, left the study and returned to the master bedroom.
Afraid that the silly little Omega was still kneeling in the study, Yun Qi ordered the servants to “drive” Lin Chen back to her bedroom, using the excuse that she didn’t want the Omega to “dirty her study.”
When Yun Qi transmigrated during the day, she had no time to think because she was rushing to the Lin house. Now that it was night and she couldn’t sleep anyway, she decided to review the events.
Standing before the full-length mirror, Yun Qi had to marvel at this physical shell. “She” had perfect body proportions, a tall stature, deep-set eyes, and a high bridge to her nose, inheriting her father’s classical and elegant features. The pitch-black, silky long hair from her mother cascaded over her like a black waterfall. Her pupils were also black, deep enough to pull someone in.
The original body indeed had the capital to be a Scum Alpha. Even if Yun Qi hated this person, she had to admit it. The Empire’s youngest Duke, handsome appearance—despite the terrible personality and being married with a child, countless young Omegas still threw themselves at her.
After admiring the appearance, Yun Qi prepared to review the memories.
“Little Scum, have all the original host’s memories and the plot been transmitted to me?”
[Yes.]
Yun Qi rubbed her head, feeling a bit confused.
On the way to and from the Lin house, Yun Qi had received some memories regarding the original host.
“Yun Qi’s” parents—the old Duke and Duchess—died in a fire. This turning point was also the turning point for the original host’s personality.
When “Yun Qi” was seven, her parents took her to a vacation villa in the Rawls Forest, an asset passed down through the Yun family. During the trip, the villa was suddenly engulfed in fire. When they were rescued, only the original host survived. Simultaneously, the original host lost all memory of the vacation. This was what the doctors told her after she woke up.
According to the diagnosis, the memory of losing her parents was too painful, so the body’s protection mechanism caused her to lose the memories of that period.
And because of the loss of her parents, the original host’s temperament changed drastically.
Before the age of seven, “Yun Qi” was a standard little lady. Though she often had a cold face, she was very protective and respectful of Omegas and polite to everyone else. After seven, “Yun Qi” became tyrannical, arrogant, and hostile toward Omegas.
These changes might be somewhat explainable.
What confused Yun Qi most was that after waking up, “Yun Qi” destroyed all portraits related to the old Duke and Duchess and forbade anyone from mentioning her parents’ names.
Then there was the attitude toward the study. As mentioned, it was designed by the old Duchess herself. The old Duke and the pre-seven-year-old “Yun Qi” cherished the study; it was filled with the love of a family of three. But the “Yun Qi” who woke up turned it into a place of torment, like a torture chamber…
Can a person really change that much?
The plot Little Scum gave her was only a general outline—the world line centering on the protagonist Lin Chen. Regarding “Yun Qi,” there were only scenes of her abusing Lin Chen and Lin Xi, and finally, her being stabbed to death.
“Forget it. Complete the mission early, go home early. Stop thinking about it,” Yun Qi patted her face to cheer herself up.
Thinking of the mission reminded her of Lin Chen. She wondered how the whip wounds on her back were healing.
From the mission’s perspective: the healthier the female lead is, the sooner she can successfully assassinate Yun Qi, allowing Yun Qi to go home.
From the Scum Value perspective: although “Yun Qi” is a massive Scum Alpha, an Alpha’s instinct is possession. No matter how much she lacks love, she wouldn’t let others see her Omega’s back.
Logic check: complete. Yun Qi found a private-formula ointment and some sleep-inducing incense in the cabinet and sneaked into Lin Chen’s bedroom.
The little Omega, who was so dull during the day, was a tiny, obedient thing while sleeping on her side. She was extremely quiet; only by leaning close could one hear her faint breathing.
Yun Qi first lit the incense and placed it aside to help Lin Chen fall into a deep sleep and prevent her from waking up halfway through.
Lin Chen’s side-sleeping position made things much easier. If she had been sleeping on her back, Yun Qi wouldn’t have known how to check the wounds without disturbing her.
However, it was also possible the wounds were too painful to sleep on her back. Yun Qi suddenly felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.
She gently rolled up the top, silently chanting “see no evil, see no evil” to control her gaze and keep it from wandering toward the front.
The scars on the back were partially swollen and red, and other bleeding areas had already scabbed over. It was clear she had used some medicine.
But Yun Qi still used the ointment she brought to treat the wounds again. Such hideous injuries shouldn’t exist on such beautiful skin.
After Yun Qi left, the person who was supposed to be fast asleep opened her eyes, looking toward the door with a hint of confusion.
