After Breaking Up with the Scumbag Girl, I Became an Alpha [Entertainment Circle] (GL) - Chapter 5
When the weekend finally arrived, Xu Wuhuan wanted to stay home and rest, but Yuan Lai insisted she accompany her to Starbird, a local dance studio.
“Why are you going there?” Xu Wuhuan was hurried out of the house early in the morning by Yuan Lai. She kept yawning on the bus.
“I told Cheng Yan I wanted to learn dancing. You know, Cheng Yan’s mom runs a dance studio,” Yuan Lai said. “I figured Cheng Yan should know how to dance, so I asked her to teach me.”
“Oh, so you’re going to learn dancing now?”
At this, Yuan Lai sighed with a hint of defeat. “Cheng Yan doesn’t know how to dance at all. She told me her mom has a USB drive specifically for beginners to practice, and she asked me to come get it this weekend.”
Xu Wuhuan laughed unkindly. “You’re not actually going to learn dancing, are you? Since when were you interested in that?”
“Isn’t it just so I can get closer to her? So I picked that excuse.”
“You’re unbelievable,” Xu Wuhuan couldn’t help but compliment her dedication.
Yuan Lai smiled helplessly.
The Starbird studio was quite large, offering not just dance, but also taekwondo, calligraphy, and everything in between.
“I’m going to the sixth floor first to get the USB drive, room 601. If you need anything, find me there,” Yuan Lai said.
Xu Wuhuan was playing on her phone in the ground floor lobby and didn’t quite hear. She waved dismissively.
However, after waiting for more than twenty minutes, Yuan Lai still hadn’t come down.
What the hell? Why is it taking so long to grab one thing?
Xu Wuhuan didn’t have the patience to wait and went upstairs to look for her.
What was the room number again? Xu Wuhuan hadn’t paid attention, and now she was confused.
She frowned and thought for a moment. Was it 607?
Xu Wuhuan didn’t dwell on it or check if her guess was accurate. She headed straight for 607.
The door to 607 wasn’t locked. Xu Wuhuan knocked.
No movement.
She knocked again. After a few dozen seconds, a voice came through. “Come in.”
Xu Wuhuan thought the voice didn’t sound much like Yuan Lai, but didn’t think much of it. She pushed the door open. “Yuan Lai, why are you…”
Xu Wuhuan froze upon seeing the person inside.
The person inside wasn’t Yuan Lai, it was Zhong Yan.
Zhong Yan was wearing a long black T-shirt and black denim shorts, revealing pale, slender, and straight legs that seemed to glow. The black attire made her skin appear even fairer.
She was facing Xu Wuhuan, sitting on the floor with her back to the mirror, one leg bent, her hand resting lazily on it. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, exposing her small, delicate features. Perhaps from practicing dance, the wisps of hair on her forehead were wet, and her cheeks were slightly flushed.
The school actually didn’t impose strict limits on uniforms, but their class teacher enforced wearing the wide school uniform trousers.
Zhong Yan was naturally slim, and in the baggy uniform pants, she looked small and slightly malnourished.
This was the first time Xu Wuhuan had seen her dressed like this. She hadn’t realized Zhong Yan had such a good figure and long legs. She had less of her usual soft cuteness and a bit more cool, stunning beauty.
Seeing that the person was Xu Wuhuan, Zhong Yan was very surprised. She stood up. “Why is it you? What are you doing here?”
Xu Wuhuan closed the door and walked in. She didn’t answer the question. “Are you practicing dance here?”
“Yes, I’ve been practicing for several years.” Zhong Yan took a bottle of water and drank some, then asked, “Want some water?”
Xu Wuhuan shook her head. “You like dancing?”
“I do.” Zhong Yan smiled at her. “I love to dance.”
As she spoke, she untied her bun, intending to tie it again.
“Let me help you,” Xu Wuhuan walked over and took her hair tie.
Zhong Yan smiled. “Okay.”
She sat down on a chair. Xu Wuhuan smoothed her hair with her hands. Zhong Yan’s hair was naturally slightly wavy, very black, and smooth.
Zhong Yan had been dancing for a long time and felt a bit tired, so she leaned back against Xu Wuhuan, closing her eyes to comfortably enjoy this moment of rest.
“If you like dancing, why don’t you join the school dance club?” Xu Wuhuan asked softly.
Zhong Yan gave a shy smile. “Uh… I’m a bit too self-conscious.”
Xu Wuhuan was confused. “Why?”
Zhong Yan looked embarrassed. “Most of the people in the school dance club are very pretty Omegas, with good looks and good figures. I’m too short, and I’m not that good-looking.”
Xu Wuhuan immediately countered, “No way!” She twisted her hair into a bun. “You’re very good-looking too, and you have a great figure! Look at these legs, how amazing are they? Be confident. You really can do it.”
Zhong Yan suddenly opened her eyes, tilted her head back to look at Xu Wuhuan, her eyes shining. “Really?”
Xu Wuhuan finished tying the hair tie. Zhong Yan’s head tilted back exposed her beautiful, painting-like face. The sunlight reflected by the curtains fell on her face, carving out a richly colored watercolor. Xu Wuhuan was stunned for a second. When she realized it, she kept the posture, placed both hands on Zhong Yan’s cheeks, and lowered her head, creating an intimate, almost kissing pose.
Xu Wuhuan slowly smiled, speaking earnestly. “Of course. Yan Yan is the prettiest.”
Yan Yan was the nickname Xu Wuhuan gave her.
Xu Wuhuan’s eyes were sincere, filled with light and no trace of falsehood. Zhong Yan’s heart inexplicably hammered for a few seconds.
“Thank you. You’re the second person to affirm me,” Zhong Yan curved her lips, smiling very sweetly.
“Oh? Who was the first?”
“My dad,” Zhong Yan winked playfully.
Xu Wuhuan snorted a laugh. After a few seconds of silence, she said, “Yan Yan, can you dance for me now?”
Zhong Yan didn’t hesitate. “Sure.”
Unexpectedly, Zhong Yan’s dance style didn’t match her image at all.
She danced funk jazz, similar to HIP-hop. Zhong Yan handled the light and heavy, fast and slow aspects of the dance, and the control and release of her movements, perfectly. It was a fusion of power and explosive energy.
Wild, aggressive, and striking. At that moment, Zhong Yan was like an arrogant queen, overwhelmingly powerful. Every move radiated confident charm, stunningly beautiful.
Xu Wuhuan felt her breathing stop. She felt as if she had fallen into an unknown vortex, a bone-deep force pulling her entire being in. She was completely defenseless.
After Zhong Yan finished dancing, Xu Wuhuan still hadn’t reacted. Zhong Yan waved her hand in front of her. “Hey.”
Xu Wuhuan came back to her senses. Zhong Yan’s eyes were now wide with spirit, a stark contrast to her soft, cute appearance.
Xu Wuhuan smiled gently. “You dance very well.”
She paused, then added, “It’s beautiful. Both the dance, and you. You shine with beauty.”
No one is unhappy when they are complimented. Zhong Yan felt an indescribable excitement surging through her heart.
She smiled brightly. “Thank you, Xu Wuhuan.”
Xu Wuhuan’s phone rang. It was Yuan Lai.
“I have something to do. I have to go now,” Xu Wuhuan said.
Zhong Yan nodded. “Okay.”
Before leaving, Xu Wuhuan turned back, gave her a thumbs-up, and encouraged her. “Keep going, Yan Yan.”
Zhong Yan stood in place, cupping her cheeks with both hands, trying to cool down her face. It felt too hot.
“Where were you?” Yuan Lai asked Xu Wuhuan in the lobby.
“Nothing much,” Xu Wuhuan countered. “What were you up to?”
Yuan Lai showed a satisfied, successful smile. “Cheng Yan was just talking to me about dance knowledge. Even though she hasn’t studied dance, she’s very familiar with it. Although I was almost falling asleep while listening,” Yuan Lai said, “our relationship got closer, hahaha!”
Xu Wuhuan clicked her tongue and walked out the main door. “I wish you well.”
Yuan Lai chuckled. “Don’t you have anyone you like? You didn’t even look twice at Wen Yi. I think you’re looking for a goddess.”
Xu Wuhuan patted her head. “Mind your own business.”
Xu Wuhuan turned to look up at the sixth floor. Someone I like?
The weekend flew by, and Monday arrived.
On Monday, the weekly summary was held as usual on the playground. Yuan Lai had a stomachache and didn’t go down.
Their class’s standing positions were casually chosen. Xu Wuhuan usually stood behind Yuan Lai, and since Yuan Lai liked to change spots, she just stood behind her. Today, without Yuan Lai, she didn’t know where to stand.
She wasn’t one to casually make friends and didn’t like interacting with too many people; she found it annoying. Therefore, Xu Wuhuan had few friends in the class, so there was no spot she seemed satisfied with.
Her gaze fell on Zhong Yan. She was looking down at a small review book in her hands. The people in front of and behind her were talking to others, making her seem a bit lonely.
Xu Wuhuan directly slipped in behind Zhong Yan. Their class was very informal; you could stand wherever you wanted.
But Xu Wuhuan still politely smiled at the person behind her. “Excuse me, cutting in line.”
The person behind her was an Omega. Xu Wuhuan was tall and beautiful, a crush for many young Omegas. The girl blushed and quickly nodded.
Xu Wuhuan turned around and, using her height advantage, rested her head on Zhong Yan’s shoulder. “What are you reading?”
Zhong Yan was startled, but seeing it was Xu Wuhuan, she tilted her head and smiled. “An English vocabulary book. We have a spelling test this afternoon, and I haven’t memorized them yet.”
“Why worry?” Xu Wuhuan chuckled softly. “I’ve got your back.”
Zhong Yan laughed and joked with her. “Are you going to be my sugar mommy?”
“Sure, I’ll be your sugar mommy,” Xu Wuhuan replied, half-joking, half-serious.
Zhong Yan inexplicably felt the topic was too intimate. After the incident at the dance studio last weekend, their relationship had taken on a complex, ambiguous color, obscure and difficult to understand, with something twisting and changing toward a certain direction.
Their class was near Class 7 of the second year, Wen Yi’s class.
Wen Yi took in the sight of Xu Wuhuan and Zhong Yan’s intimacy. She secretly clenched her fists. Xu Wuhuan’s words from last time hadn’t completely defeated her. She never liked to lose; she wouldn’t give up until she had Xu Wuhuan.
As for that girl, Zhong Yan, she looked truly like an eyesore. A shadow of malice crossed Wen Yi’s eyes.
At the same time, another young man also witnessed the scene. This was the first time Gu Chang’an had seen Xu Wuhuan this close to anyone.
Xu Wuhuan was always the most ruthless and cold, treating people with a lack of typical social emotion, only concerned with her own desires.
So, who was that person who made her smile so happily?
Ah, my sister’s smile is really blinding.
After the second class in the afternoon, Zhong Yan went out to get water. After a while, she ran back, excitedly sharing with Xu Wuhuan, “Do you know? Gu Chang’an just asked me for my contact information! Oh my god, how does he even know me?”
Xu Wuhuan’s expression changed. She said flatly, “…Who?”
“Gu Chang’an, the campus heartthrob!” Zhong Yan’s excitement didn’t last long, and she returned to reality. “But, why would he ask for my contact information? We don’t even know each other. It’s so weird.”
Xu Wuhuan’s eyes held an icy chill. “Did you give it to him?”
Zhong Yan was startled by her gaze and shook her head. “No… no, we don’t know each other. It just felt wrong.”
Xu Wuhuan didn’t say anything more. She looked out the window, her expression gloomy, lost in thought.
Zhong Yan’s heart trembled. She was genuinely frightened by Xu Wuhuan’s demeanor.
During evening study hall, Xu Wuhuan didn’t attend, as Gu Chang’an also skipped it today.
Xu Wuhuan sat on the sofa opposite Gu Chang’an, legs crossed, arms folded, and said quietly, “I hear little brother asked my deskmate for her contact information today.”
Gu Chang’an put down his gaming phone and looked directly at her, curving his lips. “Sister, why are you suddenly interested in my affairs?”
“What are you saying? Little brother is suddenly interested in a complete stranger. Sister is just a little worried,” Xu Wuhuan said with a false smile.
Gu Chang’an chuckled. His features were delicate and handsome. When he smiled, his eyes curved. “Is that so? Is sister worried about me—or worried about that person?”
“Or,” Gu Chang’an paused. “Are you worried about yourself?”
Xu Wuhuan looked at his innocent eyes, feeling extreme disgust. Her face wore a cold smile. “Doesn’t little brother know best? Why insist on upsetting your sister?”
Gu Chang’an laughed even more happily. “So, is sister interested in that Beta?”
Xu Wuhuan looked at him coldly. “Does it matter?”
“Of course, it does.” There was an unhealthy madness in Gu Chang’an’s eyes. “Wouldn’t it be fun to snatch the person sister is interested in and then watch the look of regret in her eyes?”
Xu Wuhuan stood up, moved closer to him, and pulled up one corner of her mouth, without any warmth in her eyes. “I advise little brother not to try it. Otherwise, sister doesn’t know what she might do.”
“Then I’m even more curious.”
