After Breaking Up with the Scumbag Girl, I Became an Alpha [Entertainment Circle] (GL) - Chapter 9
It was the weekend, and for once, the school hadn’t organized any exams this week. Xu Wuhuan and Zhong Yan decided to go on a date, as this was their first proper, formal date.
They went to Yuhu Park, a natural park that focuses on ecology, and the scenery was beautiful.
The two took photos along the way. From beginning to end, Xu Wuhuan held Zhong Yan’s hand and never let go.
They arrived at an area full of white reeds. A slight breeze was blowing today, and the white reeds swayed gently with the wind under the bright sunshine.
Xu Wuhuan stood a bit far from Zhong Yan to take photos of her. A girl walked up to her and said, blushing, “Hello.”
Xu Wuhuan glanced at her. She was a very cute girl, an Omega, but Xu Wuhuan didn’t know her. Xu Wuhuan was usually cold toward strangers. She said curtly, “Is there something you need?”
The girl had noticed this beautiful Alpha from far away. Xu Wuhuan particularly liked wearing trench coats, and today she wore a dark, long one as usual. Her hair was down and looked a bit messy from the wind.
Her indifferent expression only made her more charming. The girl clearly had a good impression of her and hadn’t noticed Zhong Yan’s presence.
“I think you’re very pretty. Would it be possible… to exchange contact information?” the girl asked shyly.
Xu Wuhuan was adjusting the camera distance for the photo and answered without thinking, “No, it’s not possible.”
The girl: “…” She didn’t give up and tried to press further, tugging on the hem of Xu Wuhuan’s coat. Her voice was sweet. “Please? I just want to get to know you.”
Xu Wuhuan stopped what she was doing, turned her head, and frowned at her. “Can’t you understand human language?”
The wind was quite strong, and when Xu Wuhuan turned her head, her hair covered her face. In Zhong Yan’s eyes, Xu Wuhuan was currently ignoring her and was chatting and laughing with another girl.
Zhong Yan had a secret she didn’t like to admit: she was extremely possessive. To what extent?
It was close to obsession. She had an intense sense of exclusive ownership over anything that belonged to her, which had gradually warped into a sensitive, suspicious nature. She couldn’t stand being ignored by her person, and Xu Wuhuan’s current behavior ignited the selfishness deep in Zhong Yan’s heart.
Her face instantly darkened, changing like a stormy sky.
Zhong Yan quickly walked over and wedged herself between the two of them. Her tone was heavy as she questioned the other girl, “What are you doing!”
The girl, surprised by the person suddenly stepping in, was confused for a second. “…Who are you?”
There was gloom in Zhong Yan’s eyes. She snorted softly, turned her head, and kissed Xu Wuhuan on the lips to stake her claim, then glanced at the girl provocatively.
The girl gasped in confusion. Realizing the two were a couple, she quickly nodded, apologized, and left.
After the girl left, Zhong Yan turned to see Xu Wuhuan’s ambiguous, half-smiling face. She glared at Xu Wuhuan and stormed forward angrily.
Xu Wuhuan quickly walked up, hugged her, pinched her cheek, and said smilingly, “Yan Yan, are you jealous?”
Zhong Yan was cold-faced and ignored her, her round face puffed up with anger. Xu Wuhuan loved seeing this, finding her possessive jealousy very cute, and felt a surge of affection.
She secretly kissed Zhong Yan’s cheek, coaxing her, “Don’t be mad. That person asked for my number, but I refused her without even thinking. I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Zhong Yan looked at her, suspicious. “Really?”
Xu Wuhuan immediately guaranteed her. “Of course.”
Zhong Yan’s expression softened a little. She tried hard to maintain a smile, pretending to reluctantly accept. “Fine. But I told you, I’m very possessive. You’re not allowed to flirt with anyone else.”
“I know,” Xu Wuhuan interlaced her fingers with Zhong Yan’s.
Wen Yi naturally learned that the two were dating. She was furious and consumed by a feeling of unwillingness.
How could Zhong Yan compare to her? A plain Beta? Xu Wuhuan must be blind to fall for her.
While Zhong Yan was in the changing room, Wen Yi cornered Xu Wuhuan outside.
Xu Wuhuan was currently in her rut phase and was extremely sensitive to Omega pheromones. As Wen Yi leaned in, her sweet pheromones diffused into the air, causing heat to surge uncontrollably beneath Xu Wuhuan’s skin.
“Wuhuan, why do you like Zhong Yan? How can a Beta compare? What’s so good about her?” Wen Yi asked unwillingly.
Xu Wuhuan really didn’t want to be close to her. She kept a distance and said flatly, “You’re good in every way, but unfortunately, you’re not her.”
“I’m unremarkable? I’m much better than her! Why can’t you choose me?” Wen Yi pulled at her sleeve in agitation.
Xu Wuhuan felt dizzy and weak, and waves of heat washed over her. The Omega pheromones were acting like an accelerant. She felt a slight inability to reject her instinctual response, but she fought to stay conscious and push Wen Yi’s hand away.
Wen Yi was very strong at this moment. She clung tightly and leaned closer, trying to expose her scent gland to Xu Wuhuan.
Just as Xu Wuhuan was about to push her away, Zhong Yan walked out of the changing room and, unfortunately, saw this intimate scene.
As expected, her face was as black as ink, and her lips were tightly sealed. She shot Xu Wuhuan a fierce glare and walked away by herself.
Xu Wuhuan thought, I’m done for. She shoved Wen Yi away and said coldly, “Wen Yi, I will not like you. I cannot force myself. Zhong Yan is the person I like. In my eyes, she is perfect.”
Ignoring Wen Yi’s pale face, Xu Wuhuan left that sentence hanging and immediately chased after Zhong Yan.
As expected, Zhong Yan was angry. She sat in her seat with a gloomy expression. Xu Wuhuan sighed imperceptibly.
She sat down in the seat in front of Zhong Yan and softened her voice. “Are you angry again?”
Zhong Yan was cold-faced and ignored her. Xu Wuhuan hadn’t brought suppressants today. She felt a wave of fever and dizziness and had to muster her energy to coax Zhong Yan. She felt a slight impatience, but still spoke tenderly. “It’s not what you think. Don’t worry about it, okay, baby?”
“Then what is it?” Zhong Yan’s voice was chilly. “You were standing so close to her. Don’t tell me you were just joking around. I remember you don’t like her.”
“I don’t like her, I only like you. Can’t you trust me a little more?” Xu Wuhuan sounded a bit helpless.
Zhong Yan was still stubbornly dwelling on the issue. She was too obsessive and only trusted her own thoughts, completely disregarding any explanation. “I told you, didn’t I? I’m extremely possessive. I asked you to keep your distance from others, and you agreed. What? Have you gone back on your word now?”
Zhong Yan’s words were barbed. “After all, she’s an Omega and prettier than me. Don’t all you Alphas like Omegas? Do you think I’m terrible now?”
Xu Wuhuan was feeling very unwell, her patience running thin. Zhong Yan’s barrage of accusations set her off. She frowned and said flatly, “Zhong Yan, can you please be reasonable? Stop making assumptions. You’re making me very tired when you act like this.”
Then, not wanting to go through the aisle behind Zhong Yan, she climbed over the desk to her own seat and lay down to sleep. Her head was spinning.
Zhong Yan was so angry at this action that she wanted to bite someone. Her eyes were slightly red, and she bit her lip, stewing in her anger alone.
Xu Wuhuan slept all morning. The teacher asked Zhong Yan to wake her up. Zhong Yan poked her awkwardly and that was it. Xu Wuhuan barely opened her eyes, glanced at her, and went back to sleep, making the teacher furious.
The two didn’t speak all morning. When they went home for lunch, Xu Wuhuan took a suppressant and felt much clearer.
But the two were still not talking. Xu Wuhuan felt nothing, and her perverse inner self even felt a little relieved.
Zhong Yan was different. She was incredibly hurt. She actually knew in her heart that she had misunderstood today’s incident, but whenever she saw Xu Wuhuan close to someone else, she felt like going crazy. She simply couldn’t stand Xu Wuhuan being that close to anyone else.
Aren’t we lovers? Shouldn’t she naturally keep her distance from others? And she got mad at me, and didn’t come to coax me all day. Zhong Yan thought miserably.
When evening study hall finished, the two walked together as usual. It snowed a little tonight, making the temperature colder.
The two walked in an awkward silence. Normally, Xu Wuhuan would put Zhong Yan’s hand in her own pocket. Xu Wuhuan’s body heat would always warm Zhong Yan’s icy hand.
But not today. Zhong Yan finally couldn’t bear it any longer, but she felt too awkward to be the first to yield, so she chose a subtle approach. “…My hands are so cold.”
Sure enough, Xu Wuhuan turned to look at her. Zhong Yan’s small face was pale from the cold, but her lips were red. Her eyes were fixed on Xu Wuhuan without blinking. Her face was wrapped in a scarf, looking especially endearing.
Xu Wuhuan sighed. She took Zhong Yan’s hand and put it in her own pocket. Feeling the familiar warmth in her palm, Zhong Yan’s tear ducts suddenly opened, and tears streamed down her face.
Xu Wuhuan pulled her into a hug, adjusted the hood of her jacket, and her voice sounded distant and muffled in the quiet, snowy night. “…Why are you crying?”
Zhong Yan sobbed in her arms. “Why haven’t you spoken to me all day? Don’t you know how terrible I felt?”
Xu Wuhuan stroked her head to comfort her, lowering her voice. “There, there. It’s my fault. I’m sorry. Don’t cry, baby.”
Zhong Yan continued to cry in her arms. There were very few people on this road. Xu Wuhuan looked into the distance. Her stroking motion was gentle, but her face was icy cold, blending with the frigid night.
She suddenly felt a sense of confusion.
To feel confused at this moment was undoubtedly a bad thing. It meant she was beginning to doubt this relationship, and once doubt enters any emotion, it is the start of fragmentation.
That night, Zhong Yan messaged her as usual. Since they started dating, they chatted late every night. Tonight, Xu Wuhuan uncharacteristically didn’t want to chat and made up a quick excuse to log off.
She felt weary. Zhong Yan’s possessiveness was simply too severe. This wasn’t the first time they had fought because of her possessiveness, but each time, Xu Wuhuan had patiently coaxed her.
Her possessiveness permeated every aspect of their relationship. If Xu Wuhuan was even slightly close or intimate with someone else in the class, Zhong Yan would start sulking. Xu Wuhuan had to be by her side at all times, or if she left for a moment, Zhong Yan would become displeased.
At first, Xu Wuhuan found it amusing, but as it continued, this frightening possessiveness felt like it was going to devour her. Her every move had to be controlled, and she had no freedom.
Xu Wuhuan was a person with a strong desire to dominate. She liked to control everyone, and she was accustomed to standing in a dominant position. She absolutely hated having anyone take control of her life without her consent.
And Zhong Yan wanted to pull her down from that dominant position, excise her desire for control, and cage Xu Wuhuan in what she considered a comfortable zone.
Xu Wuhuan couldn’t tolerate it. She felt a strong aversion. Zhong Yan’s possessiveness made her irritable. Zhong Yan was more clingy than ever, but it was a sharp clinginess, trying to force Xu Wuhuan into her very bones.
Xu Wuhuan only saw a hideous face in this possessiveness. She wanted to distance herself, even feeling intense revulsion. She suddenly wondered if she truly liked Zhong Yan’s clinginess that much in the beginning.
If this clinginess turned toxic, would she still like it?
Probably not. She felt sickened.
[I am insecure and weak, always placed in a corner. I am used to enduring my mediocrity, but you gave me enough light. Yet, I feel like you are about to take it back. Xu Wuhuan, my guess is wrong, isn’t it?] — Zhong Yan.
