After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 13
Ye Xing was uneasy, but she didn’t dare approve Shen Xiaoqian’s friend request.
Instead, she grabbed her jacket, mask, and hat and rushed out. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of Shen Yushu’s door and remembered her previous warning. If Shen Xiaoqian really did something stupid, Ye Xing’s life would truly be “BE” (Bad Ending).
Problems concerning the protagonist’s family naturally required the protagonist to step in and solve them.
She quickly looked up the location of the Shen Group. Fortunately, the drive from Jiangting wasn’t too far.
In the afternoon.
Shen Yushu had an external schedule; she was prepared to head out for a meeting with the Vice Presidents, but Sun Xi suddenly ran over.
“President Shen, someone is downstairs to see you.”
Noticing the touch of awkwardness on Sun Xi’s face, Shen Yushu asked in a low voice, “Who?”
Sun Xi glanced around as if afraid of being overheard and leaned closer. “It’s Ye Xing!”
Hearing that familiar yet troublesome name, Shen Yushu’s brow furrowed. “What is she doing here?” Does she think the Shen Group’s PR department isn’t busy enough today?
Sun Xi had originally thought the same, but she still delivered the message. “Ye Xing says it’s an emergency. It’s about your little niece.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Yushu immediately signaled the group waiting by the elevator to go ahead. She walked over and handed her documents to the Vice President. “You handle today’s meeting with the Chendong Group. I have something to take care of here.”
“Understood!”
After finishing her instructions, Shen Yushu turned to Sun Xi. “Bring her up.” She paused for a moment as if thinking of something and added, “Use the other elevator.”
Downstairs, Ye Xing pulled the brim of her hat low, terrified that someone would recognize her. Fortunately, everyone in the building was busy with their own work and paid no attention to her slight disguise.
After waiting for about five minutes, she saw a familiar figure.
“Miss Ye, this way please!”
Following instructions, Sun Xi took Ye Xing up in Shen Yushu’s private elevator, bypassing the employees in the main work area and heading straight to Shen Yushu’s office.
Knock, knock—
Sun Xi rapped twice on the frosted glass door and slowly pushed it open. “President Shen, Miss Ye is here.”
Inside the spacious, bright office, Shen Yushu was sitting by the large floor-to-ceiling window. She leaned lazily in front of her computer, elegantly setting down her materials, and gave a faint “Mm” in response.
She raised her gaze, meeting Ye Xing’s bright, clear eyes. She asked coldly, “What do you want?”
Ye Xing didn’t care for Shen Yushu’s “cold beauty” act and walked straight in. Fearing that gossiping employees might see them, Sun Xi quickly closed the door and returned to her workstation—though her body instinctively leaned toward the office door.
Inside the office.
Ye Xing skipped the polite formalities. She pulled out her phone and shoved Shen Xiaoqian’s “last meeting” message in front of Shen Yushu. She got straight to the point.
“Sister, I promised I’d stay far away from your niece, but what is the meaning of this? You’d better call her and confirm she’s okay. I don’t want her becoming ‘crazy for love’ and doing something desperate that hurts her and ruins me!”
Shen Yushu’s expression remained cool. Hearing Ye Xing’s rapid-fire delivery, she didn’t even catch the content of the message at first. Only after Ye Xing finished did she glance at the phone.
A ripple finally appeared in her calm eyes. Without a word to Ye Xing, she picked up her own phone and dialed a number.
When the call connected, she asked coldly, “Where are you?”
On the other end, Shen Xiaoqian was in class. She buried her head under her desk and whispered, “Auntie, I’m in class. What’s wrong?”
Hearing that she was in class, Shen Yushu gave a faint “Mm.” “It’s nothing. Stay in class.” She hung up.
Shen Xiaoqian lifted her head from under the desk, looking baffled. She checked WeChat again and saw that Ye Xing still hadn’t approved her request, making her pout in frustration.
“Shen Xiaoqian, when are you going to get us Ye Xing’s autograph?” her Omega friends whispered from behind when the teacher wasn’t looking. “You said she invited you out—was that real or fake?”
“Aiya, it’s real! Trust me, I really have her WeChat. I’ll definitely get those autographs for you guys,” Shen Xiaoqian replied confidently, her eyes shining.
“Forget it, they’re both beautiful Alphas. Why don’t you get me an autographed photo of your aunt instead? I think she’s even prettier than Ye Xing. She’s my dream Alpha.”
The girl behind her handed over a photo. Because Shen Xiaoqian had missed class a few days ago, she had been catching up all day and hadn’t had time to check the news. She didn’t expect this “gossip” would be about her own aunt.
“Holy crap, Shen Yushu has a woman?!”
“The students in the back! If you aren’t going to listen, get out!”
Shen Xiaoqian’s exclamation of disbelief earned her a loud reprimand from the teacher. She immediately ducked down and opened Weibo to start eating the “leftover gossip.”
Back in the office, Ye Xing saw Shen Yushu hang up and remain silent for a long time. She asked urgently, “Well? Is Shen Xiaoqian okay? Why are you just staring at me?”
Seeing that Ye Xing truly looked worried and flustered, a flash of suspicion crossed Shen Yushu’s eyes. “You seem quite concerned about her?”
“Of course I am!” That girl is the key to how many episodes this cannon fodder survives!
Ye Xing added that last part in her mind. Seeing Shen Yushu’s gaze, she quickly explained: “She… she’s my loyal fan. Since she’s a fan, she’s an artist’s ‘bread and butter’ (parent). If my ‘parent’ is in trouble, of course I’m going to be worried.”
Ye Xing was 25, while Shen Xiaoqian was an 18-year-old fangirl. Hearing Ye Xing use the “parent” metaphor for Shen Xiaoqian, Shen Yushu let out a soft laugh.
Ye Xing saw that brilliant smile and thought it was excessively beautiful. However, she remained serious. “What are you laughing at? Hurry up and tell your bodyguards and nannies to keep a close eye on her. And tell her to stop trying to add me on WeChat. Even if she’s my ‘bread and butter,’ this artist wants her fans to stay far away.”
Shen Yushu: “…” So does this artist want ‘parents’ or not?
Not intending to waste more words, Shen Yushu stood up. As an Alpha, Ye Xing wasn’t short, but standing before Shen Yushu, she felt an inexplicable pressure from the older woman’s powerful aura.
Looking at that cold, glamorous, and exquisite face, Ye Xing gulped. She took a cautious half-step back. “Well, it seems your niece is fine. I won’t disturb your work then. I’m leaving.”
Ye Xing waved and prepared to bolt. But just as she turned, Shen Yushu grabbed her. Slender, fair fingers locked onto her delicate wrist.
“President Shang! President Shen is out, she isn’t in the office! You can’t just barge in like this—Security! Security!” Sun Xi’s voice rang out from outside the door.
Ye Xing turned her head back. Realizing Shen Yushu was still holding her hand, she knit her brows. “Why are you pulling—”
Before the words could leave her throat, Ye Xing was forcefully pushed under the office desk by Shen Yushu.
“Don’t come out. Don’t make a sound!”
It was a command, devoid of any room for negotiation, and chillingly stern. Ye Xing didn’t know what was happening; she curled up, wide-eyed, and crouched under the desk.
The next second, the door slammed open, and a woman’s voice rang out. “Oh, President Shen. I thought you weren’t in the office? What, did you just teleport?”
Shang Qing stood in the office wearing exaggerated designer sunglasses and luxury brands, looking arrogant and uninvited.
Sun Xi had failed to stop her and looked apologetic. “President Shen, President Shang just rushed up. I’m sorry.”
Shen Yushu signaled Sun Xi to leave first. As she left, Sun Xi’s eyes swept across the room. Where is Ye Xing?
Shen Yushu sat composed in her chair, fingers interlaced. She raised her long lashes. “President Shang, what brings you here? It seems the Shen family and the Shang family have no business that requires communication.”
Shang Qing could tell she wasn’t welcome. But she came specifically to cause trouble. She sat uninvited on the sofa, took off her sunglasses, and crossed her snowy-white legs.
“Shen Yushu, you snatched the South Factory project from me and thought you won? As it happens, I saw some spicy news about you today. I recalled the woman I saw with you at the bar last time. If I remember correctly, it’s the same woman, isn’t it?”
Hearing the threat, Shen Yushu remained calm on the surface, but her eyes were filled with frost.
Ye Xing, crouching under the desk, couldn’t help but shiver. Is the AC set too low? Looking at Shen Yushu’s slender, sexy ankles, Ye Xing felt a headache coming on.
What kind of situation is this? In ancient times, people hid beauties in golden houses; today, a cannon fodder gets stuffed under a desk? It felt like she and Shen Yushu were having a scandalous affair.
Ye Xing hoped these two would finish their battle quickly.
Shen Yushu raised her beautiful eyelashes, her voice unreadable. “And what do you plan to do?”
Shang Qing’s brow rose. Sensing she had the upper hand, she said, “Actually, I don’t care about your private love life. I’m a businesswoman; I’m only interested in profit. As long as you agree to let the Shang family have a piece of the South Factory project, I naturally won’t speak a word to outsiders about what happened that night.”
After speaking, Shang Qing waited smugly for an answer.
Shen Yushu glanced under the desk out of the corner of her eye. Her red lips curled up, and her voice was icy. “It doesn’t matter. President Shang, do whatever you want. She’s just a woman. If you’re using that as a bargaining chip with me, you’ve severely underestimated yourself.”
With that, Shen Yushu pressed a button on her intercom. Sun Xi entered immediately.
Shen Yushu raised her hand. “President Shang, I won’t see you out.”
“You…!” Shang Qing didn’t expect Shen Yushu to be so arrogant. Her face tightened. “Fine! Shen Yushu, let’s wait and see!”
She put her sunglasses back on arrogantly and was led out by Sun Xi.
Watching Shang Qing leave, the office door closed once more. Shen Yushu pursed her lips, her eyes full of irritation. She slammed a palm onto the desk. She wanted to see what kind of waves Shang Qing could actually stir up.
The sound was like a thunderclap in Ye Xing’s ear.
“Help! Sister, please don’t be in such a hurry to get angry. Could you please pull me out first? I can’t take it anymore!”
