After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 15
Seeing the storm clouds gathering on Shen Yushu’s face, Kong Zhen quickly tucked away her punchable smirk.
“Alright, alright, I’m done teasing. Let’s talk business. There’s a new project on Nian’an’s end. Director Zhang Yi is planning a new film. They’re looking to cast a Best Actress and some rising ‘liuliang’ (trending stars). It’s in the planning stages now, and it’s a guaranteed money-maker. Are you interested, President Shen?”
Seeing Kong Zhen finally talk sense, Shen Yushu’s expression softened. She lowered her eyelashes, appearing to give it serious thought.
Shen Yushu knew Zhang Yi’s reputation. He was known as the “Golden Finger” director; every movie he released in recent years was a critical and commercial hit. Many investors would pour money in the moment they heard his name, just waiting for the payout.
The Shen family’s business empire was vast, but Shen Yushu had never extended her reach into the complicated entertainment industry—simply because she wasn’t interested. On the other hand, Kong Zhen had secured many investment opportunities since hooking up with her gold-medal screenwriter wife, Ruan Nian’an, and had made a fortune in the industry.
Shen Yushu had once teased her: Giving up the Kong family inheritance just to find your path in the entertainment industry for the sake of love.
Seeing that Shen Yushu hadn’t spoken for a while, Kong Zhen pressed on: “Eldest Miss Shen, why the hesitation? This is a zero-risk opportunity! Think of it as supporting my wife’s career too—she wants to transition into being a producer recently.”
Hearing this, Shen Yushu understood. This couple had come to her to pull investment.
Shen Yushu looked up at Kong Zhen and asked nonchalantly, “Is the Kong family going bankrupt? Are you out of money?”
Kong Zhen nearly choked and waved her fist in the air with frustration. “Argh, Shen Yushu, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you! You know perfectly well I don’t want to go back and inherit the family business. I just want to live a carefree life with my wife. If I take the family money, I lose my freedom.”
Shen Yushu gave a faint “Oh” and said, “Not interested!”
Kong Zhen was utterly depressed. Seeing that Shen Yushu was unmovable, she had no choice but to give up. She stood up with a sorrowful, listless expression. “Sigh, it seems twenty years of friendship can’t compare to President Shen’s concern for a little flop star. I saw a certain someone spend a fortune today to take down a hot search without blinking an eye, sigh…”
Hearing Kong Zhen’s sarcastic tone, Shen Yushu knew she was about to start her long-winded “ultimate move” of nagging. She quickly held up a hand to stop her.
“Fine, fine. Send the project proposal to my email; I’ll consider it. The door is that way—don’t let me see you out.” With that, Shen Yushu called toward the door, “Assistant Sun, please see Miss Kong out.”
At this, a glint appeared in Kong Zhen’s eyes, and a satisfied smile spread across her face.
After sending Kong Zhen away, Shen Yushu felt the world suddenly go quiet. Checking the time, it was close to the end of the workday. She grabbed her bag from the coat rack and walked out.
English-style Architecture Complex.
Jiangcheng A+ Arts University.
Outside the black wrought-iron gates, Shen Yushu pulled her car to the side of the road. Despite her attempts to be low-key, that eye-catching little horse logo still drew attention. Shen Yushu wore sunglasses and a pure white suit, looking like a cold, glamorous champagne rose. Her pearly fingers tapped rhythmically against her phone.
Ten minutes later, the car door was pulled open from the outside. Shen Xiaoqian sat down, panting, and peered out the window like a thief. “Auntie, I told you so many times—be low-key! I don’t want my classmates to see me.”
After finishing her college entrance exams, Shen Xiaoqian hadn’t gone abroad like other wealthy kids. Instead, she hid her family background and chose to attend the best arts university in Jiangcheng to be a happy, ordinary college fangirl. Fortunately, she had slipped out of the classroom a few minutes early; no one should have seen her.
Hearing the complaint, Shen Yushu’s fingers curled against the steering wheel, and she let out a short, dry laugh. “Shen Xiaoqian, I didn’t charge in there and drag you out; I’ve already given you plenty of face.”
Knowing Shen Yushu was fully capable of doing such a thing, Shen Xiaoqian immediately went silent. She quickly changed the subject with a grin. “Hehe, Auntie, why did you come looking for me? You’re a busy woman; you could have just called.”
Shen Yushu knew the girl was sharp-tongued and didn’t want to beat around the bush. Her expression turned solemn. “Shen Xiaoqian, are you pestering Ye Xing? I am formally notifying you: go to school properly and stop chasing stars. Otherwise, I’ll have Grandpa and Grandma send you abroad immediately.”
Shen Xiaoqian froze for a second, but immediately caught the key point in Shen Yushu’s words. “Ah! Auntie, you know Ye Xing?! Then could you do me a favor? Have her accept my friend request. I need her!”
Shen Yushu: “…”
She elegantly took off her sunglasses and gave Shen Xiaoqian a “behave yourself” look. In the Shen family, if there was one person Shen Xiaoqian feared most, it was definitely Shen Yushu.
“Uh… I mean, I need Ye Xing’s autographed photo.” A flash of disappointment crossed her bright eyes. “I was supposed to get it at the bar last time, but you dragged me back. Then Ye Xing deleted me. I already promised my sisters… if I can’t get it, it’s really embarrassing, Auntie~”
Shen Xiaoqian’s tone softened with a hint of a nasal whine, looking incredibly aggrieved. Shen Yushu took a deep breath and thought for two seconds.
“I’ll get the autographs for you,” she said plainly. “But don’t try to add her on WeChat again. Get out of the car.”
One second, Shen Xiaoqian looked ready to cry; the next, hearing that her aunt would get the autographs, her pupils dilated in shock. “Auntie, I love you!” She reached out to hug her.
She was promptly pushed away with a look of disdain. Shen Xiaoqian giggled and quickly rummaged through her bag for an envelope, solemnly handing it to Shen Yushu. “These are photos of Ye Xing my sisters collected. Auntie, I’m counting on you for the signatures.”
Shen Yushu took it without looking and tossed it into the car’s glove compartment. “I got it. Go back. Go home early this weekend to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma.”
Shen Xiaoqian nodded like a chick pecking at grain. Watching the red taillights of the car disappear into the distance, she jumped for joy. Then, she suddenly remembered something and stomped her foot. Dammit! I forgot to ask her who the woman in her passenger seat was!
Shen Yushu left the school and headed straight back to Jiangting. It was rush hour, so the roads were slightly congested. An hour later, she took the envelope and went upstairs. She didn’t have Ye Xing’s contact info, so she had to knock on her door.
The doorbell rang. Shen Yushu held the envelope, tapping it against the side of her trousers as she waited patiently. But after a while, there was no movement inside.
However, the elevator behind her opened with a ding.
“Sister, were you looking for me?” Ye Xing’s sweet voice came from behind.
Shen Yushu turned around. She found Ye Xing in sports gear, her long black hair tied in a ponytail, revealing a full, exquisite forehead. Her face was flushed pink, looking like an apple hanging from a high branch. Without a trace of makeup, her small face looked full of energy and clean as a spring. Her blooming smile was contagious.
Ye Xing had just returned from the gym. She hadn’t expected to see Shen Yushu standing outside her door. She hurried forward and asked again, “Sister, is something wrong?”
Shen Yushu withdrew her gaze and gave a faint “Mm.” She shoved the envelope into Ye Xing’s hand. As if giving instructions to a subordinate, she said coldly: “I’ve handled Shen Xiaoqian; she won’t come looking for you again. But she needs these signed.”
With that, Shen Yushu turned and walked to her own door. Just as her slender hand touched her code lock, she paused, glancing at Ye Xing out of the corner of her eye.
Her voice came out soft and sexy:
“Also… don’t call me ‘Sister’ from now on!”
