After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 17
Last time, Shen Yushu had forbidden Ye Xing from calling her “Sister.”
However, after bumping into her several more times, Ye Xing felt that calling her “Miss Shen” was a bit awkward. Since Shen Yushu was beautiful and they were both Alphas, Ye Xing simply stopped overthinking it and continued calling her “Sister.”
Shen Yushu, seeing that she wouldn’t change, seemed to have grown accustomed to it and stopped intervening.
Following the “survival of the cannon fodder” code—never slap a smiling face and maintain neighborhood solidarity—Ye Xing took the initiative to greet Shen Yushu every time they met. Sometimes, they even coincidentally wore the same color palette.
Right now, Ye Xing looked at Shen Yushu’s sharp, champagne-colored suit set. Her makeup was exquisite, and a glint of admiration flashed in Ye Xing’s eyes; she didn’t feel awkward at all.
Instead, she stopped in her tracks, her voice sweet and clear: “Sister, this color really complements your skin tone. What skincare products do you use? You’re so fair you’re practically glowing.”
After saying this, she stepped forward to actually scrutinize the other woman’s skin condition.
Shen Yushu was already used to Ye Xing’s overly familiar personality, but being stared at so directly by another woman was still somewhat unnatural. Ding Ling, standing nearby, saw Shen Yushu’s face cloud over and immediately wanted to clear her throat to warn Ye Xing.
But before she could open her mouth, Ye Xing—bold as a lion—actually reached out to touch Shen Yushu’s face.
A crisp smack rang out. Shen Yushu unceremoniously slapped away the fair back of Ye Xing’s hand. She gave her a cold sideways glance, her voice faint and deep: “It’s natural.”
With that, she pressed the elevator button, ignoring the Ye Xing behind her.
Ye Xing clutched her smarting hand and knit her brows. “Oh, natural. I guess I can’t compete with that. And here I thought you’d secretly done some beauty treatments and was going to ask for a recommendation.”
As a celebrity, her face was naturally her most important asset.
The elevator doors opened, and Shen Yushu stepped in without a word. Behind her, Ye Xing and Ding Ling chatted casually about work. Upon reaching the parking garage, the three of them headed toward their respective spots.
Ning Youyou had been waiting in the van for Ye Xing and Ding Ling. Seeing them arrive, she quickly opened the door. Once Ye Xing was settled in the back, Ding Ling turned around and handed some documents over.
“Take a look at this first to understand the show’s content. I just asked a friend; Director Li is shooting a short film today with a rising Omega starlet. We’ll head straight there as a ‘set visit’ and then invite the director to lunch.”
Ye Xing nodded, having no objections to the arrangement. She flipped through the materials for Let’s Fall in Love!. After reading it from beginning to end, she found it to be a generic dating show. For the first season to have caused such a sensation, the production team must have spent a fortune on marketing.
“This is all just pure artificial sweetener,” Ye Xing muttered.
Hearing this, Ding Ling turned around with a “well, obviously” expression. “My big star, who cares what kind of sugar it is? This is a great chance for you to rebuild your persona and blow up again. Look at the list of invited Omega guests; every one of them is lovable. When an Alpha like you goes on, you’ll definitely charm everyone and create some sparks.”
Ye Xing curled her lip. “I’m not a firecracker; what sparks?”
“Who cares! Just don’t be cannon fodder!”
Ye Xing: “…”
Ding Ling continued to chatter about the program while Ye Xing hummed in response, eventually closing her eyes to rest. Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a private tulip estate.
Ding Ling tapped Ye Xing’s knee, signaling they had arrived. Ye Xing lifted her long lashes, looking sleepy and beautiful. As she woke, her shimmering eyes held a hint of lazy charm. Looking through the window, the view became clear.
It was a French-style estate with a mysterious, vintage vibe. Its grandeur felt solemn, but the sea of tulips in front of the manor softened the severity, leaving only romance and tenderness.
The car door opened, and the air was tinged with a faint floral scent. Ye Xing lifted her skirt and stepped out, whispering in praise: “Tsk, this place is actually quite beautiful.” Walking on the pebble path, the sunlight split the rhinestones on her shoes into fragments of flowing light.
Ning Youyou stepped forward and opened a parasol over Ye Xing’s head. Ye Xing looked up. “Youyou, it’s just a few steps; no need for the umbrella.”
Ding Ling, following behind, interrupted: “No, keep it up. What kind of celebrity goes out without a bit of presence?”
Ye Xing: “…” Her manager really was a woman of fierce pride.
Staff members were busy everywhere inside and outside the estate. Ding Ling made a call. Soon, a site manager invited them into a cool, comfortable lounge, poured some tea, and politely left.
The three sat in the lounge for a full hour without seeing a sign of the famous director. The ego was massive.
Midway through, Ye Xing left for the restroom. On her way back, passing the neighboring lounge, she suddenly heard a woman’s panicked voice.
“Director, I’m leaving first.”
This was followed by the sound of porcelain shattering on the floor. Ye Xing looked up and saw a sign on the door of that lounge: Director Li Guan.
“Fei’en, I think a soft Omega like you should show off your charm as much as possible in front of the camera. Come, let me teach you.”
“Director, please don’t…”
Though she couldn’t see the people, Ye Xing could hear the terror in the woman’s trembling voice. Suddenly, an earthy, rank scent of pheromones began to spread from the room.
Ye Xing looked around and saw there wasn’t a soul nearby. Heh! In broad daylight?
Ye Xing’s brows knit together, and her red lips thinned into a line. She stepped forward, her face tense. Just as her fingers were about to touch the doorframe, her wrist was grabbed.
“What are you doing?” Ding Ling had come looking for her. Seeing her standing outside the director’s door with a dark expression as if she were there to collect a debt, Ding Ling pulled her away. “My little ancestor, what are you doing? Don’t be reckless.”
Ye Xing raised her eyes, her gaze suddenly cold. “I’m not the one being reckless.” She gestured toward the door with her chin. “I’m about to vomit from the smell of these pheromones.”
Ding Ling was a Beta and slow to perceive pheromones, but hearing Ye Xing say this, she instantly realized what kind of debauchery might be happening inside. They had just discussed the “hidden rules” of the industry this morning, and now they had stumbled right into them.
Ding Ling’s mouth hung open, but before she could speak, Ye Xing suddenly turned on her phone’s camera and shoved it into her hand.
“Sister Ling, don’t let your hand shake. Film this well in a moment.”
With that, Ye Xing’s eyes sharpened. She looked at a chair nearby. She flexed her long, fair fingers and cracked her wrist joints. The next second, Ye Xing grabbed the stool and—BANG!—smashed it against the door lock.
Ding Ling’s hand shook from the shock of the sudden outburst, but she quickly steadied herself. Her fingers turned white as she gripped the silver phone, though she hesitated to press the record button.
The temporary lounge doors weren’t sturdy. With Ye Xing’s strike, the lock broke instantly.
“Crap! Who the hell is so blind!” Li Guan’s cursing voice came from within.
Ye Xing’s lips thinned, adding a touch of cold glamour to her face. Without hesitation, she kicked open the swaying door. Ding Ling, standing beside her, was completely slack-jawed. She knew Alphas were strong, but in all the years she had managed Ye Xing, this was the first time she had seen her use violence. Shock overrode her worry and unease.
The door swung wide. Inside, a flustered Li Guan was tidying her clothes and putting on her thick glasses. When she saw who was at the door, she froze, then her veins bulged with rage. “Ye Xing! What do you think you’re doing?!”
Ye Xing’s eyes swept over the Omega in Li Guan’s arms. The woman’s pure, lovely face was flushed red, her consciousness blurred, as the scent of tulip pheromones began to drift out.
Fortunately, Li Guan hadn’t succeeded yet.
Having her “good deed” interrupted, Li Guan flew into a rage. She turned hostile instantly, shouting toward the door: “Someone!!! Get this madwoman out of here!” With that, she stood up and charged at Ye Xing.
Ye Xing leaned against the doorframe, her brows furrowed as she rubbed her slender, fair hand. Her shimmering eyes were filled with ice.
Madwoman?
Ye Xing felt that compared to this scum who used “hidden rules” and went into heat at will, she was perfectly normal.
Seeing Li Guan’s enraged charge, Ye Xing turned to Ding Ling, fluttered her long lashes, and let out a single syllable from her red lips.
A crowd was beginning to gather nearby.
Suddenly, Ye Xing slumped onto the floor. She pulled off her hair tie, her eyes looking as panicked as a trapped deer. With a faint, sob-like quality to her voice, she looked utterly pitiable:
“Director… I’m an Alpha… you can’t mark me…”
