After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 4
Ding Ling was a Beta in her forties who maintained her appearance exceptionally well. With flaxen, ear-length short hair and a sharp tailored suit, she sat on the sofa with her arms crossed, her posture elegant and dignified.
However, her face was currently cycling between red and white, fueled by anger at Ye Xing.
In the industry, she had managed many newcomers. In terms of potential and natural aptitude, Ye Xing was talented—she was beautiful and possessed an outstanding temperament.
Even though Ye Xing had relied on scandals and her looks to stay relevant over the years without a single representative work to her name, it hadn’t stopped her from earning a living. The company had even planned to continue promoting her using the “infamous is still famous” route.
But now, after just one night out of her sight, Ye Xing had managed to sabotage her own career entirely.
“Ye Xing, you like to hang out with those wealthy second-generation heirs, and the company hasn’t restricted you because they could potentially become our resources. But how did you hook up with—no, how did you offend Shen Yushu?”
Inside the air-conditioned room, layers of fine sweat broke out on Ding Ling’s forehead.
Ye Xing sighed and sat on the sofa opposite Ding Ling. Her fair fingers scrolled slowly across her phone screen, calmly reading the trending news about herself.
[Is Ye Xing blacklisted? It was only a matter of time. Did you guys forget? Last time an Omega fan exposed Ye Xing for harassing her via a burner account.]
[Yeah, yeah, yeah! Back then, Ye Xing’s company sued everyone who posted about it, and the matter was forgotten. But the internet has a long memory.]
[Leaked: Last night at JY Bar, I saw someone who looked like Ye Xing with a young Omega girl. Holy crap, did Ye Xing get blacklisted because she slept with some rich guy’s girlfriend?]
[Wait, there’s too much info here. Is that Omega one of Shen Yushu’s people?]
[Whoa, is this “melon” (gossip) for real? Careful, you’ll get a lawyer’s letter from Ye Xing.]
[I’m just saying what I saw. Besides, my family has plenty of money; why would I be afraid of a lawyer’s letter?]
[Heroic sister!!!]
As more posts and replies flooded in, online public opinion shifted instantly. When a wall starts to crumble, everyone gives it a push—people were lining up to kick her while she was down.
A few of Ye Xing’s fans tried to speak up for her, but they were instantly drowned out by the spit of the opposing army.
Ye Xing thought: I’m so tired.
Putting down her phone, Ye Xing stared at the snow-white ceiling with her exaggerated long pink hair and twitched the corner of her mouth. “Sister Ling, I really didn’t offend Shen Yushu!”
She had simply gone into a sudden heat, felt too sensitive and vulnerable, and accidentally hugged her a bit… They were both Alphas, what could they possibly do!
But even so, Ye Xing wouldn’t tell Ding Ling the truth if it killed her. After all, the fact that she had hugged the Alpha Shen Yushu and cried during her heat was far too embarrassing.
“You didn’t offend her? Then why would the Shen family blacklist you? Do you think rich people have nothing better to do?”
“Exactly! She has nothing better to do! She’s the protagonist; of course, she has the final say in this world!”
Ding Ling couldn’t understand Ye Xing’s nonsensical ramblings. She stood up and slapped Ye Xing’s thigh. “Stop talking. Go get ready and come back to the company with me. We need to figure out a PR solution together.”
Ye Xing hissed in pain. She was extremely reluctant, but Ding Ling’s words caused a spark of realization to flash through her mind—it was so fast she couldn’t quite catch it.
Now fully awake, Ye Xing mentally reviewed everything.
As a cannon-fodder character who was supposed to be killed by the protagonist, her survival instinct had allowed her to change the events of the original text. At the very least, it proved she had temporarily managed to cling to life for the next stretch of the plot.
As for Shen Yushu, in the novel, she was a mature, cold, and glamorous Alpha—decisive and ruthless in business. However, after meeting the female lead, the Best Actress Tao Jingyun, the two fell in love at first sight.
Unfortunately, the “dog author” had dropped the book, so Ye Xing didn’t know the specifics of how their romance unfolded.
But it was likely just those clichéd love stories: melodrama between wealthy families, face-slapping, and bitter fights. Regardless, none of that involved a cannon fodder like her.
Thinking of this, Ye Xing suddenly had a stroke of genius. It seemed like her “broken” cheat-code knowledge could still be picked up and used.
“Hahahaha! Bring me a pen! Bring me paper! Let me compose a script of ‘World Peace and Beauty’ for everyone! Hahahaha!!!”
Hearing the bursts of bone-chilling laughter coming from the bathroom, Ding Ling felt black lines of exasperation cross her forehead.
Should she immediately book a psychiatric appointment to check Ye Xing’s brain? Had the shock driven her mad?
“Ye Xing, don’t worry too much. The company is thinking of ways. As long as we haven’t broken the law or made a mistake on matters of principle, we can still make a comeback. You have to be strong!”
Inside the bathroom, Ye Xing couldn’t hear a word Ding Ling said.
At this moment, having finished her bath, she looked like a high-spirited warrior, her chin tilted up and her eyes bright.
After washing away last night’s tear-stained makeup, Ye Xing realized the original host had an incredibly good foundation. She wasn’t suited for heavy makeup at all; instead, a simple look made her face appear much more exquisite and stunning.
She changed into the clean clothes Ding Ling had brought—a white lace camisole dress. The well-tailored fit hugged her graceful figure, making her look like a refined lily on a mountain, full of ethereal charm.
Coming out of the bathroom, Ding Ling looked at the Ye Xing who had “returned to the world of the living” and couldn’t help but sigh. “You… you really only have this face going for you!”
Ye Xing: “…”
Sorry, the internal hardware isn’t bad now either!
After getting ready, Ye Xing elegantly perched a pair of large black-framed sunglasses on her high nose bridge. She gave Ding Ling a shallow smile. “Let’s go, Sister Ling. From today on, I am Niu-hu-lu Reborn Ye ‘Unstoppable Cannon Fodder’ Xing.”
Ding Ling: “…”
The two left through the back door of the bar.
A sports car the same color as her hair was parked there, looking very conspicuous.
Ye Xing frowned and toyed with the ends of her hair. “Sister Ling, I’m not an idol. Why didn’t you guys stop me when I dyed this hair pink? Although… it is strangely beautiful.”
Ding Ling suppressed an eye-roll, warily scanned the surroundings, and without a word, shoved Ye Xing into the passenger seat. She then circled to the driver’s side, buckled her seatbelt, and stepped on the gas.
As the car drove from the alley onto the main street and passed the bar’s front entrance, Ye Xing could still see reporters squatting at the door. She instinctively leaned back in her seat.
“Sister, you’ve already been blacklisted. Are you still afraid of being photographed?” Ding Ling said resentfully, keeping her eyes on the road.
Ye Xing pursed her lips and said nothing. Her fair fingers tapped quickly on the electronic screen, changing the navigation destination.
They hit a red light, and the car stopped before the crosswalk.
Ding Ling caught a glimpse of the new destination and looked astonished. “Ye Xing, we need to get back to the company right now. Why did you input the Shen Group?”
“It’s the destination,” Ye Xing replied nonchalantly.
“I think you really have been driven crazy by the stress. What are you going to the Shen Group for? Don’t tell me you actually dare to go and question Shen Yushu about why she blacklisted you?”
“Mm-hm!”
“You’re insane!”
Ding Ling’s voice rose in disbelief.
In the world of entertainment and wealthy capital, the relationship was like an arm and a leg—no, more like an elephant and an ant. Right now, Ye Xing should be behaving herself and staying out of trouble. If the company really wanted to protect her, they would naturally find someone to communicate with Shen Yushu.
Ye Xing ignored Ding Ling’s thoughts. She felt that if she let herself be beaten down by the protagonist now, it would be truly difficult to turn things around later.
So, she would take a gamble—turn the bicycle into a motorcycle (take a big risk for a big reward).
“Alright, it’s a green light. I’m not going there to die with Shen Yushu. There are some personal issues that need to be handled face-to-face. And I guarantee that after I see her, our careers will be smooth sailing from now on!”
Ding Ling looked at Ye Xing with extreme skepticism.
“Sister Ling, just focus on driving. This ‘little pink’ car doesn’t look cheap; it would hurt my soul to scratch it.”
The steering wheel was in Ding Ling’s hands, so she had the final say on where they went. But seeing Ye Xing’s confident expression, she strangely felt that Ye Xing might actually have a way to solve the problem. Maybe she had already pulled some strings to reconcile with Shen Yushu.
“Fine, fine. It better be like that, or even God won’t be able to help you.”
Ding Ling stopped talking and followed the navigation.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in the bustling city center of Jiangcheng. Amidst the rows of buildings, the Shen Group tower stood straight and tall, piercing the clouds with magnificent grandeur.
It caught Ye Xing’s eye instantly.
“Tsk tsk tsk. Evil capitalist protagonist!”
If I could transmigrate again, I’d choose to be the protagonist… Dammit!
Ye Xing got out of the car wearing her sunglasses and gestured to Ding Ling. “Sister Ling, I can go up by myself. Just wait for my good news.”
Ding Ling: “…” Was Ye Xing always this confident?
With that, a victorious smile curled onto Ye Xing’s lips. She held her head high and walked toward the entrance of the Shen Group with her long, slender legs.
The light scent of perfume in the lobby made Ye Xing relax her pace. An attendant saw her and stepped forward politely. “Miss, who are you looking for?”
Ye Xing looked the attendant up and down through her sunglasses and replied warmly, “Oh, I’m looking for your CEO, Shen Yushu!”
Hearing she was looking for the CEO, the attendant immediately moved to check the front desk’s appointment book.
“No need to check. I don’t have an appointment. Don’t trouble yourself; I already see your CEO.”
As she spoke, the elevator opened in the lobby.
Shen Yushu, dressed in a black professional suit with exquisite makeup and a powerful aura, walked out. She was followed by her assistant, Sun Xi, and two other staff members.
They seemed to be discussing something. Shen Yushu’s brow was furrowed, radiating a coldness that kept people at a distance.
Ye Xing thought it was a perfect stroke of luck. She took off her sunglasses, revealing a sweet smile that could charm any ABO, and called out softly toward Shen Yushu:
“Sister!”
Ye Xing’s voice was sweet, and that “Sister” immediately drew everyone’s attention.
Shen Yushu, who was looking down at documents, raised her eyes. Her gaze met Ye Xing’s—first with a flash of surprise, then with total indifference.
Shen Yushu acted as if she hadn’t seen Ye Xing and continued giving instructions to Sun Xi. “Once this proposal arrives, report it to them directly. Don’t give Shang Qing’s side a single chance.”
The smile on Ye Xing’s face froze, and her gaze darkened.
As they were about to pass each other, she stepped out and blocked Shen Yushu’s path.
Her tone became suddenly solemn: “Sister! Are you troubled by how to defeat your rival? Have you not yet met the one your heart desires? Worry not! From this day forward, you shall ‘ride the wind and break the waves, setting your cloudy sails to cross the sea.’ As long as you give me a path to live, I will return to you a beautiful tomorrow!”
Shen Yushu & Everyone else: “…”
“Security,” Shen Yushu said coldly. “Drag her out.”
