After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 7
Shen Yushu looked at the poster in her hand. On it, Ye Xing was dressed in a black gown, looking like a rose blooming in the dark of night—vibrant and eye-catching.
Before she could say anything else, Shen Yuzhi cut her off.
“Pah! Shen Xiaoqian, you’re just a brat. How long has it even been since you differentiated? Talking about a ‘wife’—are your glands even fully developed yet?”
“Hmph! My idol even invited me to meet her last night. Maybe Ye Xing just likes people like me. Age-gap romances are all the rage now—Little Aunt, you’re old, you wouldn’t understand!”
It was true. After seeing Ye Xing yesterday, Shen Xiaoqian had come home feeling lightheaded, her mind filled with nothing but Ye Xing’s face. Her “inner deer” had been crashing around wildly all night long.
Hearing such words seemed to trigger Shen Yuzhi. She took the poster—the one she had already torn a corner off—and with a loud rip, tore it completely in half.
Ye Xing’s bewitchingly beautiful face on the poster was instantly desecrated.
A flash of sharp frost flickered in Shen Yushu’s amber eyes. Her brow furrowed, and her voice sank, hiding a faint anger: “If you want to fight, take it outside.”
“Both of you, shut up!”
Suddenly, a mellow voice drifted down from the second floor. A man leaning on a cane walked slowly toward the lobby. Following closely behind him was a woman in a brocade qipao—her makeup was exquisite, her aura gentle and elegant.
Shen Yushu looked up and met her mother’s gaze. Her mother signaled her not to interfere. Shen Yushu remained expressionless, handing the torn poster she had picked up to a nearby servant, gesturing for them to dispose of the rest of the mess on the floor.
Her gaze then landed on the two people approaching.
“Dad, Mom.”
Shen Zhengnan looked at Shen Yushu and nodded slightly. He reigned in some of his anger and said calmly, “Mm, you’re back.”
He then turned to Shen Yuzhi, his expression darkening. “Yuzhi, look at you. Do you act anything like an aunt? Why are you always bullying Xiaoqian? She’s just a child.”
Seeing her grandfather backing her up, Shen Xiaoqian stepped out from behind Shen Yushu. Watching the servants pick up the “remains” of her wife’s poster, her heart broke.
“Wife… Little Aunt is just jealous of your beauty, waaaaah…”
Shen Yuzhi was so angry she forgot her poise. She rolled her eyes and pursed her lips tightly, but ultimately didn’t speak again.
Seeing this, Shen Zhengnan struck his cane against the floor and slanted a look at Shen Xiaoqian. “Shen Xiaoqian, that’s enough. You know your Little Aunt just went through a breakup—are you trying to provoke her on purpose?”
Shen Xiaoqian felt wronged. “The woman who lied to Little Aunt wasn’t Ye Xing. Why does she get to tear my wife’s poster?” With that, the corners of her eyes turned red, and she ran upstairs to her room in tears.
Once the chaos settled, Shen Yushu slowly recalled the events of half a month ago.
It was said that Shen Yuzhi had dated a minor starlet in the entertainment industry. The girl was an Omega, not very famous, but she had somehow enchanted Shen Yuzhi to the point where she was obsessed. Shen Yuzhi had gifted her cars and apartments; it was a normal relationship, but it looked more like the girl was being “kept.”
However, in less than three months, Shen Yuzhi caught her in bed with someone else. At the time, Shen Yuzhi nearly chopped the “dog couple” into pieces. Later, Shen Yushu had found her sister dead-drunk in a bar.
She clearly remembered what her sister had said: “Sis, it’s because I’m a Beta that she doesn’t love me. I’m the only useless Beta in the Shen family…”
Shen Yushu hadn’t heard much after that, but from then on, that Omega was never seen in the industry again. In Jiangcheng, the person who could bully a member of the Shen family hadn’t been born yet.
Thinking of this, the look Shen Yushu gave her sister softened slightly. How long has it been? Can a few posters of a celebrity still trigger her?
Seeing the room grow quiet, Zhou Yaqing took the chance to ease the atmosphere. She took Shen Zhengnan’s arm, her voice gentle and calm. “Alright, Master, don’t be angry. Yushu finally made it home. Butler Wu, reheat the food.”
“Mom, Dad, you guys eat. I’m not hungry.” Shen Yuzhi kept her head down, hiding her eyes, and turned to head upstairs as well.
Zhou Yaqing was worried about the two who had stormed off. She turned toward the kitchen. “Butler Wu, send dinner up to them later. Those two… what’s the point of fighting over a stranger?”
In the kitchen, the butler had already prepared two separate dinners.
The massive living room was suddenly left with only Shen Yushu and her father. Shen Zhengnan had recently injured his leg playing golf, so he needed the cane. Though he was healthy, he had to admit he was getting older.
However, looking at Shen Yushu, a flash of pride crossed his eyes, clearing away his previous anger.
“Yushu, I heard from the shareholders about the South Factory project. You did well. The Shang family has always used those kinds of business tactics, but I didn’t expect you to catch them red-handed.”
Shen Yushu helped him sit at the marble dining table. Servants immediately began serving food—all light dishes that she enjoyed.
“It was just what I should do for the Shen Group,” she replied plainly, taking a sip of juice.
Zhou Yaqing returned from the second floor and sat down, letting out a long sigh. “Yushu, whatever you do, never get involved with women in the entertainment industry. I think your sister was truly hurt this time.”
Shen Zhengnan let out a cold snort. “She’s not heartbroken; she just can’t swallow her pride. I saw a woman dropping her off today.”
Shen Yushu: “…”
As expected of her sister, Shen Yuzhi!
After dinner, Shen Yushu and her father went to the study to discuss business. By the time she left the mansion and returned to her own place, it was already nine in the evening.
Meanwhile, Ye Xing was being dropped off at the parking lot by Ning Youyou.
With her new hair color and style, Ye Xing’s ink-black hair made her skin look snowy white. Her waist-length, slightly wavy hair spread over her slender back like sea foam—she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Though she had admired it countless times that afternoon, Ning Youyou still felt dazed by the beauty every time she looked. She grinned, showing her white teeth. “Sister Xing-xing, I don’t know how many Omegas you’re going to make faint with this look.”
Ye Xing wasn’t humble at all. She knew the charm of this face. Her red lips curled into a smile. “Youyou, what Omegas? They’ll only slow down the speed of my comeback.”
“Mhm, exactly! You’ll definitely return to the peak. By the way, Sister Ling said this apartment has been under renovation. They just moved your things in yesterday. If you need anything else, just tell me.”
“Alright, thanks for the hard work!”
Ning Youyou felt that Ye Xing was nothing like the gossip suggested. She wasn’t a diva or difficult to get along with; in fact, she had no “star” ego at all—she was actually quite cute.
“It’s my job. Sister Xing-xing, go up and rest early. I’ll pick you up at 8 AM tomorrow for a poster shoot.”
After handing the car keys to Ye Xing and saying goodbye, Ye Xing entered the elevator.
This was an apartment in the heart of Jiangcheng where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold. It probably cost tens of millions; the original host certainly knew how to enjoy life. After all the recent trouble, Ye Xing felt these material comforts were a nice consolation.
The elevator stopped at the first floor.
Ding—
The doors opened, and Shen Yushu stepped in, wearing high heels. She looked down and noticed someone had pressed the button for her floor—the 28th.
This was a luxury building with only two units per floor. Shen Yushu had never met her neighbor. She hadn’t wanted a neighbor at all and had tried to buy the opposite unit at a high price, but the owner never showed up and refused to sell.
It was rare to run into the neighbor today.
When they reached the floor, they exited one after the other. Shen Yushu suddenly stopped in her tracks, and Ye Xing, who was playing with her phone, walked right into her back.
A familiar scent of perfume filled Ye Xing’s nose—a crisp, woody fragrance that made her heart flutter. She couldn’t help but want to breathe it in deeper.
She looked up into a pair of amber eyes. In the hallway, the dim yellow light made those eyes look like clear, quiet lakes—deep and tranquil.
Ye Xing was momentarily dazed.
After being bumped into, a trace of impatience rose in Shen Yushu’s heart. She turned to say something, but when she saw the other person’s face, she froze in brief astonishment.
“Ye Xing!”
“Shen Yushu!”
Both recognized each other instantly, their eyes saying the exact same thing: Why is it you again?
“Si… Sister, what a coincidence. You live here too?” Ye Xing’s eyes widened, her face full of disbelief.
Wait, the heir to the Shen Group, the ultimate protagonist of the novel—why would she live here? Shouldn’t she live in a palace-like manor and wake up every day in a 500-square-meter bedroom?
Ye Xing was completely rattled. She was trying so hard to stay away from the protagonist, yet here she was, living right next door! This was practically handing herself over to death!
Shen Yushu didn’t bother with the complex emotions on Ye Xing’s face. She ignored the question and pressed her thumb against her fingerprint lock.
With a thud, the door closed, leaving Ye Xing alone in the hallway.
“…”
Ye Xing walked dazed to her own door, entered her code, and tried to forget Shen Yushu’s cold, glamorous face.
She went inside. Without turning on the lights, the brilliant city lights poured in through the floor-to-ceiling windows that took up half the wall. The neon glow of Jiangcheng was framed like a picture.
Using the ambient light, Ye Xing slowly flicked the switch. Once she saw the interior, she finally understood why Shen Yushu chose this place.
The view was incredible; half of Jiangcheng’s nightscape was beneath her feet. Looking at the lights, she felt for a moment as if she wasn’t in the mortal world. Jiangcheng probably didn’t have a second place like this.
The “cream-style” minimalist luxury decor was flawless; every design element reeked of money.
Is this really the setup for a ‘flop’ celebrity?
Ye Xing kicked off her heels and slumped onto the cloud-like sofa. But she had only been lying there for less than a minute when…
Ding-dong—
The doorbell rang.
Ye Xing thought she heard wrong until it rang a second time. She walked to the door barefoot. “Who is it?”
The moment she pulled the door open, she saw Shen Yushu’s beautiful but icy face.
Shen Yushu looked at her, and after a long silence, she said coldly:
“Ye Xing, stay away from Shen Xiaoqian!”
Ye Xing: “…”
Is this… a death threat?
