After Differentiating into an O, Pampered by an A - Chapter 8
Upon entering her home, Shen Yushu received a text from Shen Xiaoqian.
The girl said she had already apologized to Shen Yuzhi and promised not to make her Little Aunt angry again.
Regarding Shen Xiaoqian, although Shen Yushu was strict, she felt deep affection for her. Years ago, the eldest son of the Shen family, Shen Jiawen, and his wife were in a tragic car accident. After over ten hours of emergency surgery, the doctors only managed to save the life of the child in Mrs. Shen’s womb.
Because of this, everyone in the family cherished the child as the apple of their eye.
Yet, as fate would have it, she and Shen Yuzhi were natural enemies; they clashed whenever they met. Their combined emotional maturity probably didn’t exceed that of a three-year-old.
[Auntie, I’m sorry, I was wrong. From now on, I’ll keep my “wife’s” things tucked away and won’t provoke Little Aunt.]
Seeing this new message, Shen Yushu was somewhat speechless. Her slender fingertips tapped quickly on the screen.
[Stop chasing stars. Otherwise, Grandpa and Grandma will send you abroad the moment you graduate. Don’t cry when that happens.]
After replying, she tossed her phone onto the sofa and took off her coat.
[Then I’ll just hurry up and marry my idol. Wouldn’t that solve everything?]
Seeing that Shen Xiaoqian was serious, Shen Yushu gripped her phone but didn’t reply again. She turned around and knocked on Ye Xing’s door.
After hearing Shen Yushu’s warning, Ye Xing was utterly bewildered.
“Wha—what do you mean? I didn’t look for Shen Xiaoqian. You saw it yourself yesterday; I told her to leave immediately.”
Shen Yushu’s gaze swept over Ye Xing. Only then did she notice that Ye Xing had dyed her hair back. It looked much better than that garish pink, making her small face appear even fairer and more exquisite. With her dark lashes fluttering, she looked innocent and pure.
It was undeniable that this woman possessed a bewitching face. No wonder Shen Xiaoqian, a newly differentiated Omega, had zero resistance to her.
Shen Yushu withdrew her gaze and said coldly, “If I find out you contact her again, I guarantee the consequence won’t just be a simple blacklisting.”
“I get it…” It’ll be an execution!
Ye Xing didn’t hesitate. She grabbed her phone and, right in front of Shen Yushu, tapped on Shen Xiaoqian’s profile. With a light flick of her finger, she hit the red “Delete” button.
“Is this okay now?”
Shen Yushu’s expression remained neutral. Seeing the action, she felt somewhat satisfied. She turned to walk back to her own door.
Indeed, this Ye Xing is much more sensible than I imagined.
Suddenly remembering something, Shen Yushu paused, her clear eyes landing on Ye Xing once more.
“How did you find out about the deal between Shang Qing and Liu Changhe? Was it really ‘fortune-telling’?”
Ye Xing bit her lip. The excuse she had blurted out earlier seemed a bit like treating Shen Yushu as a fool. Her eyes darted around as she thought for a moment.
“Um, actually, I just happened to run into them at the M Hotel and accidentally overheard.”
Fearing further suspicion, Ye Xing quickly flashed a brilliant smile and changed the subject. “It seems President Shen got what she wanted. No need to thank me! It’s late, you should get some rest.”
Looking at Ye Xing’s playful, smiling face, Shen Yushu felt something wasn’t quite right, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. She gave a faint “Mm” and ignored the woman behind her.
The moment the neighboring door closed, Ye Xing let out a massive sigh of relief. Back in her room, she immediately sent a WeChat to Ding Ling: Is it too late for me to move again?
A moment later, she got a reply.
[My little ancestor, stop messing around. You just moved in. I’m at a business dinner, I’ll call you when I’m free.]
Ye Xing gripped her phone in despair and slumped onto the sofa. The thought of living next to Shen Yushu killed her mood. She felt like a sword was hanging over her head, aimed right at her glands.
After showering, Ye Xing put on a beige silk robe. Her skin, as smooth as milk, glowed with a faint luster. Her semi-dry hair cascaded down, and her long, white legs were exposed.
She poured herself a glass of water to soothe the heat from the bath. Whether it was psychological pressure or not, her glands had felt uncomfortable since yesterday. Stimulated by the hot water, they were now starting to burn.
“Damn, that drug the original host used was really potent!”
She clutched her neck and cursed under her breath. Suppressing her irritation, she lay down on the bed and opened Weibo to distract herself.
After an afternoon of PR, the “blacklisted” hashtags had been removed. However, plenty of anti-fans still flocked to her page to hurl insults. Many speculated about her “background,” wondering how even Shen Yushu couldn’t take her down. Some even claimed she was being “kept” by a tycoon—how else could a flop star be so arrogant?
Ye Xing laughed disdainfully at the fabrications. “Hmph, I have a ‘beautiful back’ view, sure, but a ‘background’? Please.”
She wasn’t angry. She simply noted down the accounts that went too far to give to Sister Ling later. Exhausted by the day’s events, her eyelids eventually began to droop, and she fell into a deep sleep.
The Next Day, 8:00 AM.
Ning Youyou arrived on time to pick up Ye Xing. She placed breakfast on the table and headed to the bedroom.
“Sister Xing-xing, are you up? We have to leave by 9:30.”
Ning Youyou called out softly as she pushed open the door. On the balcony, she saw Ye Xing in yoga gear. Her slender body was stretching gracefully on the mat—it looked like a masterpiece in motion. Her fair skin seemed translucent in the sunlight.
Ning Youyou was dazed. Too beautiful. Not only was Ye Xing’s figure perfect, but her flexibility was incredible. In just two days, Ning Youyou had become a total fan.
What surprised her even more was Ye Xing’s self-discipline. Sister Ling had said she loved to sleep in.
Ye Xing, wearing headphones and focused on the tablet in front of her, finished her last stretch before noticing Ning Youyou.
“Youyou, you’re here.” Ye Xing took off her headphones and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat from her forehead.
Ning Youyou snapped out of it, her face full of smiles. “Sister Xing-xing, why are you up so early? Why didn’t you sleep more?”
Ye Xing headed toward the bathroom. “Ah, early exercise is good for the body. When I showered yesterday, I felt like I had a bit of fat on my waist. So, from today on, I must be strict with myself.”
Ning Youyou: “…” Fat? On that body? “Sister Xing-xing, I think you’re being a bit ‘Versailles’ (humble-bragging). Your figure is literally perfect.”
“Perfect? That’s because you haven’t seen…” That’s because you haven’t seen Shen Yushu next door. THAT is true perfection!
Ye Xing remembered the night she hugged Shen Yushu. A goddess among Alphas!
Seeing Ye Xing trail off, Ning Youyou grew curious. “Haven’t seen who?”
“Nothing. Just the other actresses in the circle; they all have great figures. I can’t slack off.”
After a quick shower and a light breakfast, Ning Youyou went over the day’s schedule. In her previous world, Ye Xing was a media student specializing in screenwriting and directing. While she knew the industry, being an artist was completely different. She listened intently.
“Okay, a poster shoot. I just need to cooperate with the photographer, right?”
Ning Youyou nodded, pleased with Ye Xing’s focus.
As they stepped out of the apartment, the door next door clicked open. Shen Yushu appeared.
Ye Xing’s expression froze, but she remained polite. “Sister, good morning!”
Ye Xing figured that since they were neighbors, “President Shen” sounded too distant. They were both Alphas, and Shen Yushu was slightly older, so a friendly “Sister” seemed best. One doesn’t slap a smiling face, she reminded herself.
Today, Shen Yushu wore a pure white suit paired with the latest Chanel jewelry. Her makeup was flawless, and her cold temperament created a clear sense of distance.
“Good morning,” Shen Yushu replied tonelessly. She clearly hadn’t adjusted to having a neighbor.
They entered the elevator in silence. Suddenly, Ning Youyou realized she’d forgotten her other phone and ran back to get it, telling Ye Xing to wait in the garage.
The atmosphere in the elevator was awkwardly silent. Fortunately, it was a high-speed elevator and reached the B2 parking level quickly.
Sun Xi was waiting outside. “President Shen, morning!”
As the doors opened, Sun Xi’s eyes widened. “Ye… Ye Xing?”
Ye Xing remembered Sun Xi from the Shen Group. Facing her complicated gaze, Ye Xing felt awkward. “Hello.”
Sun Xi wanted to say more, but Shen Yushu’s cold voice cut in. “Assistant Sun, are we going? We’ll be late for the morning meeting.”
Sun Xi checked her watch, glanced at Ye Xing, and hurried to catch up with Shen Yushu.
In the car, Sun Xi kept peeking at her boss through the rearview mirror until Shen Yushu caught her. “What do you want to say?”
Sun Xi glanced back at Ye Xing, who was still by the elevator. “President Shen… are we not giving Miss Ye a ride?”
Shen Yushu lazily raised an eyelid. “Why would I?”
Sun Xi paused. “Oh, I get it. Miss Ye has a special status. But President Shen, I didn’t expect you to like this type…”
Thud. Shen Yushu slammed her tablet onto the leather seat. “Sun Xi, I don’t think you should be an assistant. You’re better suited for the paparazzi. Do you want to visit HR today?”
Sun Xi immediately backpedaled. “No, President Shen! I was wrong!”
As the car started, Shen Yushu’s gaze inadvertently flicked to the mirror. Ye Xing was still standing there in her black dress, waiting for her assistant.
Shen Yushu withdrew her gaze and said coldly:
“Ye Xing just happens to live here. I am not interested in women from the entertainment industry.”
