After Differentiation, I Marked My Arch-nemesis - Chapter 31
When Jiang Youli saw Chen Huaian’s shocked face, she simply explained what happened on the day of differentiation, using what Lu Yaoyi had told her.
Chen Huaian was completely stunned after hearing it. “Boss… is this true?”
Jiang Youli’s voice was flat. “What’s the benefit of me lying to you?”
“My God, Boss…” He didn’t expect the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi to be Jiang Youli. He looked at Jiang Youli as if he had heard something shocking, with wide eyes and an open mouth. “You and Lu Yaoyi are completely unrelated. I can’t believe you actually marked Lu Yaoyi…”
Jiang Youli quickly covered Chen Huaian’s mouth. “Lower your voice.”
Chen Huaian nodded vigorously. Jiang Youli then let go of him. He still couldn’t believe that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi was Jiang Youli. He swallowed his shock and looked at Jiang Youli meaningfully. “Boss… since you marked Lu Yaoyi, aren’t you and Lu Yaoyi… aren’t you two…”
“Aren’t we what?” Jiang Youli asked.
“Aren’t you two…” Chen Huaian said.
Jiang Youli saw Chen Huaian looking at her ambiguously. She thought he was suggesting something between her and Lu Yaoyi, so she glared at him coldly. “What do you mean? Do you think Lu Yaoyi and I would do something like that?”
Chen Huaian was speechless. He quickly waved his hands and shook his head. “No, Boss, of course not.”
“Then why are you looking at me like that?” Jiang Youli asked.
“No, Boss, listen to me,” Chen Huaian said. He moved his chair closer to Jiang Youli and lowered his voice. “Boss, we all know what kind of relationship you have with Lu Yaoyi. I’m just thinking, since you’ve now marked Lu Yaoyi, don’t you and Lu Yaoyi have a relationship now?”
“I already said that I marked her by accident. I have no relationship with her at all, okay? And yesterday, I already let her bite my gland back. We’re even now,” Jiang Youli said, putting a steamed bun in her mouth. “Besides, if I knew it was her, I would never have marked her, okay?” She paused and continued, “So stop overthinking it.”
“But Boss,” Chen Huaian felt something was off. “Why did Lu Yaoyi let you mark her? Shouldn’t she have pushed you away immediately?”
Jiang Youli was suddenly stumped by this question. She had never asked Lu Yaoyi why she let her mark her. She didn’t even remember the situation at the time, so she said lightly, “How should I know…”
Just then, a girl who suddenly entered her sight caught her attention. Lu Yaoyi walked into the classroom from the back door with light steps. Jiang Youli was momentarily captivated.
Even though Lu Yaoyi still had her usual cold demeanor that kept people at a distance, she exuded a graceful and charming aura that was beyond anyone’s reach. She was so pure and clean that she seemed to symbolize all the good things in the world. All things in the world seemed less sacred than her. Such a girl was a rare gem.
Slowly, their eyes met. Lu Yaoyi gazed into Jiang Youli’s clear, watery eyes. She felt a burning passion in Jiang Youli’s eyes that made her cheeks feel a little hot.
Why was Jiang Youli suddenly staring at her with such a passionate look? It made her feel a little embarrassed. She composed herself, controlled her pounding heart, and walked over.
Chen Huaian saw that Jiang Youli wasn’t talking, so he followed her gaze and looked back. Lu Yaoyi happened to walk past him, bringing with her a gentle breeze.
“Chen Huaian,” Jiang Youli’s voice suddenly came.
Chen Huaian looked at Jiang Youli. “What’s wrong, Boss?”
“You just said that the school is spreading rumors that Lu Yaoyi has already slept with the Alpha who marked her,” Jiang Youli said, her gaze fixed on Lu Yaoyi. “Is that true?”
“It’s true,” Chen Huaian said. He lowered his voice. “And some rumors are even worse than that.”
When Jiang Youli heard that, her eyes gradually dimmed. Her mood was as if she had fallen into a dark abyss. Her voice was cold and emotionless. “When did the rumors start?”
“They started last Thursday,” Chen Huaian said without hesitation.
“Does Lu Yaoyi know about it?” Jiang Youli asked.
“The rumors are everywhere in the school, so she must have heard something,” Chen Huaian said, looking at Lu Yaoyi’s back. “I think Lu Yaoyi probably knows about these things.”
“I see,” Jiang Youli said.
“Boss, why are you suddenly asking me about this?” Chen Huaian asked.
Jiang Youli’s face was cold as she ate a steamed bun. “Nothing.”
“Oh…” Chen Huaian said. His gaze suddenly fell on Jiang Youli’s slightly swollen right palm. He then grabbed her right wrist, frowned, and asked, “Boss, what happened to your hand?”
“Nothing,” Jiang Youli said, pulling her hand back. “I accidentally bumped it.”
“How can you bump your palm? Can a palm get swollen from bumping?” Chen Huaian couldn’t understand. “Boss, what did you hit your palm on…”
Jiang Youli looked at Chen Huaian unhappily. “Why are you so noisy? Shut up.”
Her mood was bad, and she was getting impatient from hearing Chen Huaian’s constant chatter. Chen Huaian shrank his neck. “Okay, Boss.”
The first class was Chinese literature. Jiang Youli slept for half the class and suddenly woke up. She yawned, looked at Chen Huaian who was sleeping soundly beside her, stretched, and was about to go back to sleep. She unintentionally saw Lu Yaoyi who was listening attentively to the class. She looked at Lu Yaoyi’s back, put her arms down, and gradually fell into deep thought.
The disgusting words the two female Alphas said kept replaying in her ears. She subconsciously frowned and clenched her fists.
From what Chen Huaian had told her, she was now certain that the reason Lu Yaoyi was being maliciously rumored was because she was marked by her, and they didn’t know which Alpha it was, so they were saying whatever they wanted. If they knew the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi was her, they would never dare to say anything like that.
In the end… Lu Yaoyi was being maliciously rumored because of her.
Although she hated that narcissistic maniac Lu Yaoyi, this whole thing was her fault, and she couldn’t just let others think so badly of Lu Yaoyi. She knew better than anyone what kind of person Lu Yaoyi was.
But why didn’t Lu Yaoyi tell her about this when she knew about it? Was it because of what she said about not telling anyone? Or the part about pretending it never happened?
She thought about it for a long time. In fact, more than not wanting others to know that she marked Lu Yaoyi or being involved with her because of it, she didn’t want Lu Yaoyi to be maliciously speculated because of her. She also couldn’t tolerate others secretly fantasizing about Lu Yaoyi in such a vulgar way.
Maybe she should personally clarify this matter?
If she personally clarified it, then in other people’s eyes… she and Lu Yaoyi would really be…
But she really couldn’t stand Lu Yaoyi being talked about in such a terrible way by others. So, she successfully convinced herself. She decided to tell everyone that she was the legendary Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi.
For the sake of Lu Meishan and Guan Luyu, who were so nice to her, she should do this.
Anyway, it was just a normal temporary mark. If the whole school knew that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi was her, they would never dare to say anything like that again.
So… how should she make it public? Should she go to the broadcast station and say it in front of the whole school like last time? No, no, no.
She had already told Lu Yaoyi not to tell anyone. If she went to the broadcast station and told the whole school, wouldn’t she be contradicting herself? That annoying girl Lu Yaoyi would definitely laugh at her. So what should she do to make the whole school know?
“Boss…” Chen Huaian’s lazy voice came. “You’re awake so early…”
Jiang Youli looked at the empty desk and thought for a moment before saying to Chen Huaian, “Huaian, when class is over, find a few people to spread the word that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi is me. It has to be spread so that the whole school knows.”
Chen Huaian was sprawled on his desk, rubbing his eyes, and looked at Jiang Youli with a dazed expression. “What?” His voice was hoarse from just waking up.
Jiang Youli leaned in closer to Chen Huaian and whispered, “I said, when class is over, find a few people and tell them to spread the word that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi is me. It has to be spread so that everyone knows I marked Lu Yaoyi, got it?”
Chen Huaian looked at Jiang Youli curiously. “Why?”
“If the whole school knows that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi is me,” Jiang Youli said, leaning against her chair with a serious expression. “Then how would they dare to spread rumors about Lu Yaoyi? Unless they want to die and dare to spread rumors that Lu Yaoyi and I have slept together.”
“Boss, you’re really strange…” Chen Huaian said.
“What’s strange about me?” Jiang Youli asked.
“You’ve always hated Lu Yaoyi, so why do you care if people are spreading rumors about her?” Chen Huaian looked at Jiang Youli meaningfully. “Boss, why are you helping her? Are you feeling bad that she’s being rumored about?”
Jiang Youli was speechless.
Was she feeling bad for Lu Yaoyi? Bullshit! How could she feel bad for that annoying girl, Lu Yaoyi?
“What are you talking about?” Jiang Youli glared at Chen Huaian. “I just don’t want her to be rumored because of me. I accidentally marked her and caused her trouble. It’s only right for me to help her, okay?”
When Chen Huaian heard that, he stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Boss is right…”
Jiang Youli didn’t say anything.
“Boss, I’ll go find people as soon as class is over,” Chen Huaian said, patting his chest confidently. “Don’t worry, I promise I’ll make sure the whole school knows that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi is you.”
Jiang Youli nodded in satisfaction. “Okay.”
At noon, as soon as Lu Yaoyi walked into the cafeteria, she felt all sorts of strange gazes from all directions. She was a little uncomfortable with all the stares, but she didn’t mind it. She was used to being stared at and talked about since she was a child.
However, there was one thing that was different. She felt… that she heard people talking about her and Jiang Youli.
Maybe she misheard.
She automatically ignored the gazes around her and focused on lining up.
“Yaoyi.” The cafeteria was crowded with people. Jin Rubing squeezed to Lu Yaoyi’s side with her tray. “Guess what I just heard when I was getting my tray.”
“What did you hear?” Lu Yaoyi asked.
“I heard people saying that the Alpha who marked you is Jiang Youli,” Jin Rubing whispered, leaning in closer to Lu Yaoyi’s ear. “How did they find out?”
Lu Yaoyi was a little surprised. “They really said Jiang Youli?”
Jin Rubing nodded. “They really did.”
Ever since the whole school started spreading the rumor that the Alpha who marked Lu Yaoyi was Jiang Youli, Jiang Youli’s mood had become particularly good. She was so happy that she didn’t even go to the cafeteria for lunch. She was currently sitting on a bench next to the sports field, basking in the sun with Chen Huaian.
She leaned against the bench, playing on her phone and sending a few messages to Lu Yaoyi.
—Lu Yaoyi, Sister Xun told me today that she’s not chasing you anymore.
—So I won’t be walking you home after school.
Lu Yaoyi replied almost instantly.
—Oh.
Jiang Youli was speechless.
“Oh?” What kind of attitude was that from that annoying girl Lu Yaoyi? Why was she so cold?
Then, Lu Yaoyi sent another message.
—I have something to tell you.
Jiang Youli replied.
—What?
Lu Yaoyi replied.
—Rubing just told me that people in the school are saying that the Alpha who marked me is… you.
Jiang Youli’s lips curled up slightly when she saw Lu Yaoyi’s message. She then typed a reply.
—Damn it, who the fuck leaked it?
Lu Yaoyi replied.
—Not me.
—Not Rubing or Qiao Yixun.
Jiang Youli replied.
—Don’t let me find out who it is, or I’ll sew their mouth shut.
Lu Yaoyi replied.
—What do we do now?
—They’re all saying we’re a couple.
Jiang Youli was speechless. She didn’t expect people to say that she and Lu Yaoyi were a couple. She then typed a reply.
—Forget it, let them say whatever they want.
—As long as we know the truth, it’s fine.
—We’re not really a couple anyway.
Lu Yaoyi replied.
—Oh.
Jiang Youli was speechless. She gritted her teeth and was about to reply to that cold and annoying girl, Lu Yaoyi, when a voice suddenly called out.
“A-You, you bastard! It was you who marked Lu Yaoyi!”
“Why didn’t you tell us sooner that the Alpha was you!”
She was so sad and envious when she found out that Lu Yaoyi was marked by an Alpha. She didn’t expect the Alpha who made all the Alphas in the school jealous to be Jiang Youli. Damn it!
Jiang Youli looked up at the direction the voice came from. She saw Cen Zijing and Shen Yichuan walking toward her fiercely. She got up and scratched her head with an embarrassed smile. “Listen to me…”
