After Differentiation, I Marked My Arch-nemesis - Chapter 5
Night fell, and Lu Yaoyi was alone in her room, doing her homework. The strands of hair scattered on her shoulders swayed gently with the evening breeze from outside the window. After a while, a knock came at the door. She put down her pen, turned to look at the door, and answered.
“Come in.”
Lu Meishan slowly pushed the door open and appeared in the doorway.
“Mom,” Lu Yaoyi said, looking at Lu Meishan. “Did you get off work early today?”
Lu Meishan nodded gently. “Yes.”
Then she asked, “Sweetie, where’s your bike?”
She usually saw Lu Yaoyi’s pink bike parked in the yard when she got home from work, but today it was nowhere to be found. She thought Lu Yaoyi hadn’t come home from school yet, but then she saw her shoes by the entrance.
“I went to the store today to buy something and forgot to lock my bike,” Lu Yaoyi had already prepared a story to hide the truth. “When I came out of the store, the bike was gone.”
Although she and Jiang Youli were not on good terms, they maintained a pretense of harmony in front of their parents.
“Oh, I see,” Lu Meishan didn’t suspect a thing. “Your other mom isn’t back yet. I’ll call her later and tell her to bring you back a new bike.”
Lu Yaoyi said, “Okay.”
Lu Meishan said, “I’m going to make dinner. You can come downstairs after you finish a little more of your homework.”
Lu Yaoyi said, “Okay.”
