After Ditching Four Powerful Alphas, I Differentiated into an Omega - Chapter 18
Qiao Yu had a belly full of excuses, but when it was time to explain, the words just wouldn’t come out. She sniffed a hint of danger in the air and instinctively straightened her back, taking two steps back. Under the intense gazes of Lu Shangyi, Song Wanying, and Jiang Mei, she forced herself to speak. “Nothing.”
She tried to change the subject with a look of surprise. “Sister Song, why are you here?”
Song Wanying’s red lips curled into a half-smile. In a blink, she understood what Qiao Yu meant and didn’t cooperate, just laughed. “If your Sister Lu can come, why can’t I?”
That’s not what I meant. Qiao Yu was speechless. “No, I’m just surprised, because you’re so busy every day, and you have to balance rest with promoting your new movie.”
She scratched her neck and unconsciously nudged Jiang Mei with her elbow, winking at her frantically.
Jiang Mei’s dark eyes were full of confusion. “You don’t welcome her?”
Qiao Yu almost died on the spot and quickly shook her head wildly.
“No, no.”
She noticed Song Wanying’s gaze becoming displeased and quickly said, “I meant that I’m a little dizzy, so I wanted you to help me.”
A faint laugh rang out. Lu Shangyi walked between them and paid the taxi fare, her gaze on Qiao Yu filled with meaning. Qiao Yu felt guilty and didn’t dare to look at her. “Thank you, Sister.”
Lu Shangyi wrapped her shawl around her, her posture elegant and dignified as she walked in front. “It’s cold outside. If you’re not feeling well, go to your room early.”
Qiao Yu stuck close to Jiang Mei, trying to use her to block Song Wanying’s gaze, but then she remembered that there was a canon couple here.
The hand she had on Jiang Mei’s arm immediately froze. She didn’t know whether to put it down or not, and she was so conflicted that she was practically pulling her hair out.
Fortunately, Song Wanying didn’t seem to mind her close contact with Jiang Mei.
She glanced at them and didn’t pay much attention.
Qiao Yu let out a small sigh of relief. She shouldn’t have listened to Meng E.
She should have stayed in the hostel with Jiang Mei. It would have been more lively, and she could have gotten more Omega contact information.
Wouldn’t that be better than a love square?
Qiao Yu was filled with regret. If she didn’t have any money, she would have run away right then and there.
Once inside, Lu Shangyi took off her shawl and turned to them, her posture elegant and noble.
“Do you want to eat some supper?”
Qiao Yu moved her lips, but before she could refuse, Song Wanying had already agreed for her.
“Sure.”
The nanny immediately went into the kitchen to start cooking. Qiao Yu glared at the nanny’s back. She had only been here for a little while, and she was already listening to them. She didn’t even see me, the real owner, in her eyes. As if sensing Qiao Yu’s dissatisfaction, the nanny turned around.
“Do you have any opinions, Yu Yu?”
Lu Shangyi and Song Wanying’s eyes were calm, and their smiles were also calm.
After a moment of silence, Qiao Yu shook her head, her voice lacking confidence.
“No, no.”
She was slowly realizing her social status. Not only in front of Lu Shangyi and Song Wanying but even in front of Jiang Mei, she couldn’t act on a whim. She silently wiped away a bitter tear. If that accident hadn’t happened, I might be on my third marriage by now.
Qiao Yu’s obedience pleased them. Lu Shangyi was already familiar with Qiao Yu’s house, but she didn’t expect Song Wanying to naturally sit on her favorite small sofa. Qiao Yu looked at Song Wanying, then at Jiang Mei, and could only sit on the large sofa next to her.
Her butt hadn’t even settled when Song Wanying moved her red lips and said slowly, “Yu Yu said you’re my fan.”
She looked at Jiang Mei and said, “So, what do you think of my new movie?”
After she spoke, she didn’t miss the confusion that flashed in Jiang Mei’s eyes. She knew what was going on. Song Wanying gently picked up her teacup and smiled without saying a word.
Jiang Mei’s confused gaze turned to Qiao Yu.
Qiao Yu’s scalp tightened, and she felt a bad premonition rising in her heart.
She quickly pretended to scratch her face to hide her expression. Qiao Yu’s big, innocent eyes were full of pleading—Save me, save me.
Jiang Mei stared at her without moving. The atmosphere became suffocating.
The curve of Qiao Yu’s lips slowly began to fall.
Her darting eyes revealed her inner unease.
It was so quiet that Qiao Yu could clearly feel Song Wanying’s scrutinizing gaze on her.
Qiao Yu was about to give up and confess everything when Jiang Mei said, “I haven’t seen it yet.”
Her tone was calm and detached as she stated a simple fact. “I’ve been preparing for exams lately, so I haven’t had time.”
Song Wanying gave Qiao Yu a meaningful look.
Qiao Yu instinctively straightened her back and pretended to be calm and collected.
Song Wanying’s tone was a little regretful.
“That’s a shame.”
Song Wanying stopped asking about the new movie and started talking to Lu Shangyi about adult topics. Qiao Yu let out a sigh of relief. Song Wanying had almost scared her to death.
She quickly pulled Jiang Mei to the side and whispered to her, “Tell me honestly, what do you think of Sister Song?”
“She’s very good,” Jiang Mei said.
Then, she changed the subject and lowered her voice. Her tone had a hidden meaning.
“What about you?”
“What do you think of her?”
After she spoke, Jiang Mei held her breath. She was prepared for whatever Qiao Yu’s answer was. She told herself to accept it calmly.
Qiao Yu was confused, but she answered honestly.
“I also think Sister Song is great. She’s pretty, has a tiny waist, long legs, and she’s rich.”
Qiao Yu emphasized, “She’s especially rich.”
You don’t know the value of money until you need it. Now, all she could see was worldly money.
“But,” Qiao Yu blinked.
“Don’t you have any special feelings for Sister Song? Like, a little crush?”
Jiang Mei’s face was calm, and her dark eyes were unreadable. “You want to know?”
After a moment of hesitation, Qiao Yu nodded. Jiang Mei’s eyes were dark, and she answered without any reservation. “No.”
Qiao Yu was shocked, but Jiang Mei had no intention of explaining. She immediately changed the subject back to her exams. Qiao Yu felt a little regretful.
She thought she was going to be able to see the canon couple, but who knew that the formerly jealous one was now only interested in studying?
Qiao Jinghuai returned home exhausted and noticed the lights were on at the house next door.
He saw the two cars parked in the driveway and inexplicably pushed open the door and went inside.
The moment he opened the double door, he regretted it.
The scene he least wanted to see was right in front of him.
Lu Shangyi saw him. “Mr. Qiao.”
Qiao Jinghuai had no choice but to walk in.
“I just came to see if Yu Yu was studying hard. I didn’t expect Miss Song to be here too.”
He held his briefcase under his arm and stood at the door.
“Am I interrupting?”
“Dad!”
Qiao Yu was excited to see Qiao Jinghuai. She did a quick turn and ran to him, almost tripping over her slippers.
“Why did you freeze my bank cards without telling me?”
The sight of her gave him a headache, but he noticed Jiang Mei in the corner and automatically ignored his daughter’s question.
“Who’s that?”
Qiao Yu scoffed. “My friend, Jiang Mei.”
“Hello, hello.” Qiao Jinghuai’s attitude immediately changed.
“Yu Yu is mischievous. Thank you for taking care of her at school all these years. On behalf of our family, I thank you.”
His ignorance made Qiao Yu very unhappy. She squinted and leaned closer to Qiao Jinghuai.
“Dad, if my bank cards aren’t unfrozen by tomorrow, I’ll,” she threatened fiercely, “I’ll let all three of them defile my body right here!”
Qiao Jinghuai’s face twitched. How unlucky.
He was unfazed and even wanted to turn around and leave to avoid suspicion. “Go ahead and try.”
Qiao Yu frowned. That didn’t work? Feeling a wave of sorrow, Qiao Yu pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the tears that weren’t there.
“Man, you’ve changed. The vows and doting you promised were all fake.”
Her tone changed. Qiao Yu held her phone and threatened fiercely, “I’m going to tell my mom!”
“You can,” Qiao Jinghuai said, still unfazed. “But your mother went to bed early today. I suggest you don’t disturb her.”
Qiao Yu: “…” Speechless.
The consequences of disturbing her mother’s sleep were severe.
Qiao Yu thought back to the last time and shivered.
Fine, fine. I’m just a little cabbage with no one to love me.
After the food was ready, Qiao Jinghuai politely declined Lu Shangyi’s invitation. Qiao Yu pulled Jiang Mei to sit at the long table. Song Wanying nonchalantly sat on Qiao Yu’s other side.
Her graceful posture belied her enthusiastic care for Qiao Yu. “Try this.”
Her smiling voice, a sexy hoarseness, and her affectionate eyes completely captivated Qiao Yu.
The temperature around them suddenly dropped. Qiao Yu shivered and instantly sobered up.
Qiao Yu’s body froze.
Being taken care of by Song Wanying in front of Jiang Mei was very awkward.
Qiao Yu cautiously refused. “No, thank you, Sister Song. I’m not that hungry.” She stared at the piece of meat in her bowl.
“Why don’t you give some to Jiang Mei?”
Song Wanying let out a low laugh and didn’t refuse.
On her second try, Jiang Mei turned her bowl away. “I’m already full.”
Qiao Yu was immediately horrified. She’s jealous! She’s getting angry!
Song Wanying’s gentle care immediately became a death warrant.
Qiao Yu didn’t dare to move. Her eyes pleadingly looked at the composed Lu Shangyi.
Sensing the kid’s soft gaze, Lu Shangyi slowly looked up, her eyes showing a hint of confusion.
Qiao Yu winked frantically, but Lu Shangyi seemed to not understand at all.
She gently propped her hand on her forehead, her face full of innocence. “Are you not feeling well?”
In an instant, Song Wanying’s eyes were on her. “Did I make you uncomfortable?”
Qiao Yu started to sweat profusely. She laughed nervously.
“No, no, not at all.”
She racked her brain, trying to think of an excuse.
“I just suddenly remembered that I think I got a question wrong.”
After saying that, she ate her food in big bites, stuffing her cheeks.
After quickly finishing a bowl of rice, she got up and said in a muffled voice, “You two eat first. I’m going back to my room to study.”
She ran a few steps, then turned back to look at Jiang Mei, who had also put down her chopsticks.
She felt bad about leaving Jiang Mei alone, so she went back and grabbed her hand.
“I haven’t mastered that topic yet. Can you explain it to me?”
Afraid that Lu Shangyi and Song Wanying would try to stop her, Qiao Yu used all her strength to rush into the bedroom.
After finally swallowing her food, Qiao Yu gagged and rolled her eyes. Jiang Mei considerately handed her a glass of water.
Qiao Yu didn’t even have time to say thank you and chugged half the bottle in one go.
After catching her breath, Qiao Yu wiped her lips. “I’ve figured it out. Getting all the main characters together won’t summon a dragon; it will just kill me.”
She put the water down. The system was a little worried.
“But is it okay to leave Sister Lu and Sister Song alone?”
Qiao Yu was confused. “What could be wrong?”
Sister Lu is an Omega that a gust of wind could blow away, and Sister Song is an Alpha who can pull out a tree. Surely, Sister Song wouldn’t bully a weak woman like Sister Lu, right?
Qiao Yu had run away too quickly. Song Wanying regretfully put down her chopsticks, with no intention of enjoying her meal. Her gaze fell on Lu Shangyi, who was eating slowly. “Aren’t you afraid of gaining weight eating so late?”
Lu Shangyi swallowed a small bite without even looking up. Her voice was calm. “I don’t gain weight.”
The atmosphere immediately tensed. Song Wanying smiled charmingly, but the smile didn’t reach her eyes. “You’re starting to look a little like an Alpha.”
A fork and knife clinked against a plate. Lu Shangyi didn’t respond, and Song Wanying didn’t press her. The atmosphere was calm yet suffocating.
After hearing the system’s words, Qiao Yu was a little worried. After helping Jiang Mei set up her room, Qiao Yu secretly went to the door to check on the situation downstairs. From her perspective, Song Wanying and Lu Shangyi were chatting and laughing. Lu Shangyi had her back to her, so she couldn’t see her expression, but from Song Wanying’s face, she could tell they were having a very pleasant conversation.
Qiao Yu felt like her jealousy had been exposed. She secretly went downstairs and went to her parents’ house next door, but she found that her mother was not asleep.
Qiao Yu stood glued to the front door until she startled the couple who were cuddling sweetly. Then she pushed the door open and stuck her head in. “Mr. Qiao, Mrs. Qiao, you two look so loving. Can I join your family and live with you?”
Her face was sincere, but Qiao Jinghuai gave her a cold stare. “You look like you have some kind of serious illness.”
Mrs. Qiao was a dignified and elegant socialite. Although she was a delicate Omega, her presence was not to be underestimated. She let go of Qiao Jinghuai and waved to Qiao Yu. Qiao Yu immediately ran in to complain. “Mom, Dad froze my bank cards.”
“If he does that, I won’t be able to help you find a daughter-in-law!” Qiao Yu’s eyes filled with tears. “He’s going too far!”
“I told him to freeze your cards,” Mrs. Qiao said.
Qiao Yu was speechless. She should have just kept her mouth shut.
“Tomorrow, you’ll take the day off and come with me to get a genetic match.”
“Genetic match?” Qiao Yu’s eyes lit up slightly like an innocent puppy. “Mom, are you finally going to find me a partner?!”
That would be great. She couldn’t wait. “But can’t we go now?”
“But everyone should be asleep by now, right? What a shame.”
Mrs. Qiao looked at her daughter expressionlessly. “We can go now.”
Qiao Yu: “?!” It’s really open 24 hours?
Mrs. Qiao gave up her beauty sleep to accompany Qiao Yu to get a genetic match. If Qiao Yu had dared to make an excuse, her mother would have chopped her head off. After a long and painful process, Qiao Yu’s back was sore. The results would be ready tomorrow, and Qiao Yu was a little excited.
“Oh my God! I wonder who will be lucky enough to be my princess in this world.” She put her hands together and prayed. “Will it be Sister Lu? Or Sister Lu?”
Sister Lu’s body was a little weak, but she was so soft to the touch. And most importantly, she had a good personality.
When Qiao Yu was sent home, Song Wanying had already been picked up by her manager. Qiao Yu saw Lu Shangyi still sitting on the sofa on the first floor. Her black hair was neatly tied up. Her porcelain-white profile was charming and chiseled, and the curve from her forehead to her chin was smooth and beautiful. Her delicate eyelashes were slightly curled. When she looked down at her iPad, her light-colored lips were full and soft, and her whole being exuded a captivating aura.
Lu Shangyi’s proportions were perfect. Even sitting with her legs bent, it was easy to see how long her legs were. She was simply wearing a jacket, which made her look gentle and graceful, yet also a little cold and unapproachable.
Qiao Yu ran over, her heart pounding. Her voice was full of anticipation. “Sister Lu, were you waiting for me to come back?”
Lu Shangyi suppressed a slight look of surprise in her eyes. “Sort of.”
Qiao Yu automatically ignored the “sort of” and was overjoyed. She told Lu Shangyi about her trip.
“Sister Lu, I went to get a genetic match with my mom.”
She smiled confidently. “I’m sure I’ll be a match for you.”
As the future top Alpha in the capital, I should be a match for at least ten Omegas, right?
Lu Shangyi was one of the best Omegas. If they weren’t a good match, then the agency must be at fault.
Hearing this, Lu Shangyi paused her action on the iPad. Her voice was still calm. “You went to get a match?”
Qiao Yu blinked blankly. “Yes. As soon as the results come out, I’m going to take them to your house and propose.” Qiao Yu started listing her good qualities. “Even though I’m still a student, and my family isn’t as rich as yours, if you marry me, I will never let anyone bully you.”
She paused and added, “Except for me.”
A hint of a smile quickly flashed in Lu Shangyi’s eyes and then disappeared. “Impossible.”
Qiao Yu didn’t know if she meant that their genes couldn’t be a match or that she wouldn’t bully her, but Qiao Yu thought about it and decided the latter was more likely. The last time, she was easily subdued by Lu Shangyi and couldn’t even move. She still felt a little scared thinking about it.
But if this was a different time and place, wouldn’t it be great? She didn’t mind being on top or on the bottom, anyway.
Qiao Yu didn’t sleep well all night. The moment she opened her eyes in the morning, she was thinking about the matching results. After a restless half-day at school, Mrs. Qiao finally sent her the electronic document. Qiao Yu was too excited to look and quickly handed her phone to Meng E. “Read it for me, read it for me!”
Jiang Mei stopped walking. Her heart started to beat faster.
Even though she knew it was unlikely for two Alphas to be a match, and even if they were, it was even more unlikely that she would be one of Qiao Yu’s matches, a tiny spark of hope still rose in her heart.
What if?
What if I have a chance?
Qiao Yu’s reaction was so big that Meng E also became nervous. Her fingers, which were holding the phone, trembled slightly. Meng E squinted and carefully opened the document.
“I’m going to open my eyes and look now…”
Before she could finish, Meng E’s surprised voice rang out.
“Jiang Mei?”
Qiao Yu was stunned. “?!?” Isn’t she the Alpha female lead?
Just as she was about to complain, Meng E’s shocked voice rang out again.
“And, and! There’s a 100% match!”
Meng E took a deep breath, her voice filled with disbelief.
“It’s Song Wanying!”
Qiao Yu was silent. Isn’t she the Alpha female lead’s official Alpha partner?!
Qiao Yu snatched the phone in disbelief.
But Meng E’s voice rang out again.
“And, and, there’s another one!”
She was incredibly excited.
“There’s also Ms. Ye Yunjian from the Ye family!”
“Yu Yu, congratulations! You’re a match for three Alphas!”
