After Ditching Four Powerful Alphas, I Differentiated into an Omega - Chapter 7
Song Wanying squinted, a low, husky sound escaping her lips like a lazy cat. “She’s still a minor?”
The agent nodded hastily. Song Wanying gave a slow “Oh.” Just as the agent was about to breathe a sigh of relief, Song Wanying’s self-talk reached her ears again. “So she hasn’t differentiated yet?”
The agent immediately became alert. “But according to her test report, there’s a 99% chance she’ll differentiate into an Alpha.”
Song Wanying was silent for a moment. “That’s a shame.”
Then, changing the subject, she continued, “We’ve never met before, yet she’s already spent two million on me and helped me get the Tang endorsement in such a short time. She must have some feelings for me.”
Song Wanying lowered her eyes and smiled. “She’ll be an adult soon anyway.”
The agent didn’t dare to think further. She could only comfort herself that Song Wanying had just met an incredibly devoted fan for the first time and that the girl had simply caught her attention. She figured that once Song Wanying got busy, or once Qiao Yu lost her novelty and stopped liking her, Song Wanying’s interest in her would also fade.
Song Wanying had a spotless reputation, having had no scandals in her ten years in the industry. It would be a tragedy for her to ruin her career for a minor.
Qiao Yu held her phone and frowned. “Meng E is getting bold; she actually dared to hang up on me.” She tried calling back, but no one answered. Qiao Yu was perplexed. “Is she mad that I’m showing favoritism by only sending Tang Shu beautiful women and ignoring her?”
Qiao Yu suddenly understood. She and Meng E were very close, so it made sense that Meng E would be upset. It was a mistake on her part not to consider her feelings. Since they were both her friends, she should treat them equally and give them both something.
And Jiang Mei… Qiao Yu hesitated for a moment and then quickly abandoned that idea. Jiang Mei was still mad at her. If she were to send her beautiful women, Jiang Mei might think she was deliberately mocking her.
Qiao Yu sighed dramatically. “Winning over the female lead is so hard.”
Jiang Mei was normally unconcerned and very aloof. In the original story, even when she was with the original owner, she was always very polite. It was only when she was with Song Wanying that she showed a passionate and wild side.
Qiao Yu’s eyes lit up. Wasn’t Song Wanying the person Jiang Mei liked the most? So all she had to do was cater to her preferences, right?
Qiao Yu immediately perked up. She had already earned some good points for Jiang Mei with Song Wanying. Now it was time to create some opportunities for Song Wanying in front of Jiang Mei.
She tossed the asset list into her safe and immediately sent a message to Jiang Mei: “Are you done with your homework? I’ll treat you to bubble tea.”
Biting her fingernail, Qiao Yu felt the message wasn’t good enough, so she quickly retracted it and sent a new one: “I have a little secret I want to tell you. Do you have time?”
Qiao Yu stared at the screen without moving. Just as the two-minute countdown was about to end, she instinctively retracted the message again. “I have some huge gossip. Do you want to hear it?”
Qiao Yu retracted a dozen messages back and forth. When Jiang Mei finished her homework and turned on her data, she frowned at the screen full of retracted messages. Ignoring the “typing” status, Jiang Mei pursed her lips and typed a single line: “Where are you?”
Hmm?
Qiao Yu’s hand trembled slightly as she held her bubble tea. She instinctively sent a voice message. “I’m at the bubble tea shop in front of the school right now.”
Jiang Mei didn’t reply. Qiao Yu bit her straw, unsure if the other person had agreed to meet or not. She took another sip of bubble tea, and when she looked up again, Jiang Mei was already standing at the door, out of breath.
Her elegantly styled black hair was slightly messy. Her pale face was flushed, and despite her calm expression, her hurried breathing gave away her uncontrollable anxiety.
Qiao Yu happily waved. “Over here!”
Jiang Mei turned and saw the person obediently holding a bubble tea and huddled in the corner. She subtly looked her up and down. Her clothes were fine, and she seemed normal. Jiang Mei slowly breathed a sigh of relief.
Qiao Yu enthusiastically went to Jiang Mei and presented her with a bubble tea. “I bought you your favorite flavor.”
Jiang Mei lowered her eyes. She actually didn’t like the taste of bubble tea at all, but Qiao Yu loved it, so she always tried to pretend to like it to make her happy.
Unable to resist the bright and expectant look in Qiao Yu’s eyes, Jiang Mei took the grapefruit tea from her hand. “You retracted a lot of messages just now.”
Qiao Yu had already prepared her emotions. Her eyelashes fluttered down, and when she looked up again, her innocent, doe-like eyes were filled with tears, making her look pitiable. “I was going to say goodbye to you.”
Jiang Mei’s heart tightened suddenly, making it hard for her to breathe. “You… you’re leaving?”
When Qiao Yu had rejected her that day, she had talked about transferring schools. But the next day, she came to class as usual and hadn’t made a move, so Jiang Mei had assumed she had given up on the idea.
Jiang Mei’s face turned pale. Qiao Yu’s eyes were slightly red, her voice choked. “Yes.”
A sharp pain shot through Jiang Mei’s heart. Her gaze became unfocused, and she could barely sit still.
She was leaving. Once she was gone, when they met again, she would be out of reach, and they would be two people from completely different worlds. They would be like two parallel lines that would never cross again in this lifetime.
Jiang Mei clenched her fists, but she didn’t have the courage to ask the simple question, “Can you not go?”
“But,” Qiao Yu said softly, “I can’t bring myself to leave you.”
“I’m afraid that once I’m gone, you won’t eat well or stay warm, and you’ll be bullied. If I’m not here, who will protect you?”
“Then don’t leave me!”
Jiang Mei’s whole body stiffened. She realized belatedly that her anxiety had caused her to blurt out what she was thinking. Looking at the clearly stunned Qiao Yu, Jiang Mei nervously lowered her head, not daring to meet her eyes.
She was so afraid that the other person would reject her and leave without looking back.
Qiao Yu hadn’t expected Jiang Mei to be so reluctant to see her go. She smiled gently and took the opportunity to make her move. “Okay.”
Jiang Mei looked up in disbelief. The light in Qiao Yu’s eyes was radiant, gentle, and sweet. “Until you find someone who can protect you for a lifetime, I’m not going anywhere.”
“From now on, wherever you are, that’s where I’ll be.”
Jiang Mei’s heart raced uncontrollably. The joy of getting her back made it hard for her to think. Like a wooden doll, she nodded blankly and then managed a stiff smile. “You can’t go back on your word.”
“Of course not.” Qiao Yu thought to herself. Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t. In the book, all the main characters and supporting characters revolved around Jiang Mei. Even if she wanted to stay far away from Jiang Mei, the system would just automatically bring her back.
Suppressing her own thoughts, Qiao Yu cautiously asked, “Then… you’re not mad at me anymore, right?”
“I was never mad at you.” How could she possibly be mad at Yu Yu? The thought that Qiao Yu was about to leave her was enough to make her forget all her emotions.
Qiao Yu finally relaxed.
Meng E, seeing Qiao Yu’s barrage of messages, felt her vision go dark and had no choice but to bring up Song Wanying to distract her. “Yu Yu, do you have time right now? The group is organizing people to vote for Sister Song on the leaderboard.”
Qiao Yu looked at Jiang Mei. “I’m afraid I’m a little busy right now…”
“It’s fine.” Jiang Mei said softly. “Go on and do what you need to.”
Qiao Yu immediately changed her answer. “I’m free.”
“Actually, Song Wanying is very impressive,” Qiao Yu said with a hint of an ulterior motive. “She hasn’t had a single scandal in her ten years in the industry and has won many awards. She has both looks and talent. I don’t think there’s anyone in this world who doesn’t like her.”
“Anyone who gets to marry her will have had eight lifetimes of good fortune.” Qiao Yu smiled, her eyes crinkling. The hint was obvious. “I just wonder who will be lucky enough to be that person.”
Jiang Mei’s joy of getting her back instantly cooled. Qiao Yu couldn’t stop talking about Song Wanying. Was she really that attractive to her? She watched Qiao Yu stare at Song Wanying’s photo. Could it be that she rejected me that day because of Song Wanying?
But when did she start to like Song Wanying?
She and Qiao Yu were so close and talked about everything, yet she hadn’t noticed any change in her feelings.
A fine line formed between Jiang Mei’s brows. Or perhaps…
Qiao Yu has already started hiding things from me?
So as Qiao Yu praised Song Wanying to the high heavens, Jiang Mei unceremoniously interrupted her. “She’s just a little prettier than the average person.”
Qiao Yu abruptly stopped what she was doing. “?”
Well…
This isn’t what I was expecting at all.
