After Ditching Four Powerful Alphas, I Differentiated into an Omega - Chapter 9
For the past few days, Qiao Yu had been thinking about Lu Shangyi’s beauty so much she could barely eat. Unfortunately, she hadn’t had any chance to see her or hear anything about her, so she had to give up.
But today, fate had blessed her with a special treat, and she had run into her dream Omega. She immediately couldn’t control her excitement.
But Lu Shangyi didn’t seem to be interested in her. Not only did she turn away after a single glance, but she also seemed to be trying to get away from her. The onlookers were a little surprised. Some recognized her and wondered, “How did Lu Shangyi get on this audacious little miss’s bad side?”
Seeing that Lu Shangyi was about to leave, Qiao Yu immediately left Song Wanying and the other two and ran out. “Sister Lu, wait for me!”
She darted in front of Lu Shangyi, blocking her way. She blinked innocently, biting her lip with a look of hurt and grievance. “Sister Lu, do you dislike me that much? You run away as soon as you see me, but I haven’t even differentiated into the capital’s number one badass Alpha yet.”
The capital’s number one badass Alpha? Lu Shangyi couldn’t help but look her over. Who gave you that title?
Did you crown yourself?
“I have something urgent to attend to,” Lu Shangyi said tactfully, not wanting to hurt a minor’s self-esteem. But the girl acted as if she couldn’t hear, pulling out her phone and muttering to herself, “Sister, let’s exchange contact information.”
Lu Shangyi watched her, not moving. Qiao Yu raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Sister, if you don’t give me your phone number, I’m going to stick to you all day.”
Lu Shangyi’s calm face twitched slightly. She really did have to go. She couldn’t deal with Qiao Yu’s antics, so she handed her a business card. Qiao Yu took the elegant card and looked at it, but then she grabbed Lu Shangyi as she was walking past her. “A business card won’t do.”
Her face was full of sincerity. “I want your personal phone number, sister.”
The people around them watched as Qiao Yu took advantage of Lu Shangyi’s situation. They held their breath, not daring to say a word, afraid of getting entangled with this shameless, little brat.
Lu Shangyi had lost her patience. “I don’t have paper or a pen here.”
Qiao Yu immediately reached into her bag and pulled out both. She quickly wrote down her phone number, sealed it with a red lipstick kiss, and then handed it to Lu Shangyi. “If I don’t get a call from you tonight…”
Lu Shangyi had a feeling that what she was about to say wasn’t good. She calmly took the paper. “Got it.”
Only then did Qiao Yu leave, satisfied.
After she was gone, the people around Lu Shangyi were like faucets that had been turned on, gushing nonstop. “Mr. and Mrs. Qiao are both so reserved and low-key. I have no idea how they ended up with such a shameless daughter.”
Lu Shangyi wholeheartedly agreed.
“But,” the person’s tone changed. “I feel like Miss Qiao is serious about you, Miss Lu.”
“I have no proof, but I can feel it.”
Lu Shangyi: “…”
When Qiao Yu came back, Meng E let out a long sigh of relief. Being alone with several Alphas was too much for her to handle. The moment Qiao Yu left, her legs almost turned to jelly. Instinctively, she leaned toward Qiao Yu, but then she noticed that Song Wanying and Jiang Mei’s gazes were unfriendly.
Meng E instinctively backed away. She could understand Jiang Mei, but Song Wanying?
Qiao Yu noticed the strange tension between Song Wanying and Jiang Mei. She frowned in confusion. Seeing that Jiang Mei was standing there like a block of wood, showing no emotion at all, she spoke up to help her. “My friend here has a quiet and shy personality, so she doesn’t talk much.”
Song Wanying nodded meaningfully, her gaze making Qiao Yu feel uneasy. “Is that so?”
“Of course.” Qiao Yu quickly agreed. “She’s just too nervous to speak right now because she’s meeting you. She’ll be fine in a little while.”
Jiang Mei felt that Qiao Yu’s words were a little off, but she couldn’t pinpoint why, so her expression became even more rigid. Song Wanying chuckled softly. “That’s a shame. I have to go on stage now.”
Song Wanying took off her coat and stood up. She walked a few steps, and then the sound of her heels stopped abruptly. Song Wanying turned back, a charming smile on her face. “By the way, my little darling, let’s exchange contact information.”
Jiang Mei’s eyes immediately became wary, but Song Wanying’s attention was fully on Qiao Yu. Even if she noticed Jiang Mei’s defensiveness, she didn’t care. After successfully getting Song Wanying’s number, Qiao Yu happily showed her phone to Jiang Mei. “Look, do you want to save it?”
Jiang Mei was unmoved. “No need.”
Qiao Yu ran her fingers through her hair. She doesn’t even want the phone number?
Is she intentionally acting reserved in front of the person she likes? Qiao Yu suddenly understood and felt she had found a key point. Jiang Mei wanted to maintain a mature and composed image in front of Song Wanying, so Qiao Yu didn’t want to force her. She looked up and gave Song Wanying a sweet smile. “I hope Sister Song’s new movie is a huge box office success!”
Song Wanying gave a low laugh. “Thank you. I’ll treat you to dinner when I have time.”
She paused for a moment and then her gaze casually swept over the icy Jiang Mei. “Your friends can come too.”
Meng E was so excited she couldn’t contain herself. Qiao Yu quickly pinched her. Meng E let out a small yelp and quickly pulled her hand away, her face flushed with embarrassment as she sat on the sofa.
Jiang Mei’s gaze on Song Wanying’s back was unclear. After Song Wanying had walked away, Jiang Mei snapped out of it and realized that Qiao Yu had been watching her without moving for a long time. The look in her eyes was incredibly ambiguous. Jiang Mei’s heart pounded, and she instinctively explained, “It’s not what you think.”
Qiao Yu wasn’t going to listen to her explanation. She drew out a meaningful “Oh,” and with a knowing look, she patted Jiang Mei’s shoulder. “You don’t have to deny it. I understand completely.”
Qiao Yu was overjoyed. Everything was going according to her plan. As soon as Jiang Mei saw Song Wanying, she fell head over heels for her. Now, she just had to wait for Song Wanying to reciprocate, and the two could live happily ever after.
And she, the “cannon fodder” side character, could finally happily spend her golden years living a life of luxury.
This is fantastic!
Jiang Mei felt a knot in her chest, but since Qiao Yu didn’t seem to want to listen to her explanation, she felt helpless.
Song Wanying was busy promoting her new movie today, so Qiao Yu felt it would be wrong to bother her anymore. She decided to treat Meng E and Jiang Mei to dinner, but Jiang Mei refused. “I have a part-time job.”
That job was one that Qiao Yu had worked so hard to get for Jiang Mei. Because the pay was so good, Qiao Yu couldn’t tell her not to go. After Jiang Mei left, Meng E also stammered, “Yu Yu, I have something to do too…”
Qiao Yu had already guessed what she was going to do. She clutched her chest, hurt. “You heartless woman, you’re so quick to abandon your friends for a pretty face!”
Her loud, indignant cry caused passersby to turn and stare. Meng E’s face flushed. She quickly covered Qiao Yu’s mouth. “How about… I’ll treat you to bubble tea after school tomorrow?”
Qiao Yu wasn’t going to let her off that easily. She thought for a moment. “No. Unless you give me a kiss.”
Meng E: “…” I have never been so speechless in my life.
She hesitated and looked Qiao Yu up and down. Just as Qiao Yu was about to give up, feeling a little guilty, Meng E finally said, with certainty, “I get it now. You’re about to differentiate, so your urges are very strong. Right?”
Huh? Qiao Yu’s mind went blank. What urges?
Meng E gave her a knowing smile. “Yu Yu, I’m not going to kiss you. If you’re really that frustrated, you’ll just have to take care of it yourself tonight.”
“A person’s own two hands provide for all their needs. The working class is the most glorious!”
Qiao Yu: “…”
Meng E left after her little speech. Qiao Yu chased her for a few steps, tired. She stopped, suspicious. Qiao Yu frowned. “Why do I get tired after just two steps? Am I really about to differentiate?”
But the report said it would happen in two or three months, didn’t it?
Qiao Yu was an optimist. The thought of differentiating into an Alpha and being able to get a girlfriend made her happy again. She was even looking forward to the day she differentiated.
Before leaving, Qiao Yu went to the restroom. There was no one in there. Just as she was about to leave, she heard a faint sound from the innermost stall. Qiao Yu’s footsteps stopped. She didn’t want to get involved, but then she thought, “What if someone isn’t feeling well?”
If she, a living Lei Feng, didn’t act on her sense of justice, wouldn’t an innocent life just pass away?
Qiao Yu turned and walked to the innermost stall, gently knocking on the door. “Is anyone in there? Are you okay?”
The faint sound she had heard came to an abrupt halt. Qiao Yu’s eyes lit up. There is someone in there. She asked politely, “Do you need help? Don’t worry, I’m a good person. I definitely won’t take advantage of you and do anything bad.”
Afraid the person wouldn’t believe her, Qiao Yu added, “I’ll stake my father’s happiness for the rest of his life on it.”
“My dad is Qiao Jinghuai of the Qiao family. If you don’t believe me, you can look it up online right now.”
Lu Shangyi’s body was cold. The biting pain from the injection made her almost bite through her lip. She wasn’t supposed to inject herself with the new medication today, but something had gone wrong, and she had no other choice. It was a good thing she always carried a spare dose; otherwise, all her years of pretense and effort would have been for nothing.
She had just finished the injection and couldn’t move yet, but Lu Shenghui was waiting for her outside. If she didn’t show up soon, he would get suspicious.
Lu Shangyi struggled to get up, but her body was too weak, and she collapsed back down. A voice came from outside the door. Lu Shangyi’s eyes turned sharp, her gaze almost piercing through the door.
Qiao Yu grew anxious when she didn’t get a response. “If you can hear me, move out of the way. I’m going to break down the door!”
Lu Shangyi’s brows furrowed. She used all her strength to open the latch. “No need.”
She fought to stay conscious, trying to pass by Qiao Yu, quickly straighten herself out, and then go meet Lu Shenghui. But as soon as she took a step, the young girl grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. The sound of the latch falling back into place echoed. Lu Shangyi lowered her head and, with a tight frown, shook off Qiao Yu’s hand.
Qiao Yu saw her stubborn expression despite her weak state and held her against the wall. Lu Shangyi’s eyes were dark, but just as she opened her mouth to speak, Qiao Yu quickly put a hand over her crimson lips. “Shh, shh—”
“Sister, everyone has gone to see Song Wanying. There aren’t many people here. Even if you scream your lungs out, no one’s going to come save you.”
The eavesdropping system was in shock. “???” Are you a hooligan?
Who was it that was so sure they were a good person who would never take advantage of someone in need?
