After Divorcing the Beautiful Richest Woman, She Fell in Love (GL) - Chapter 12
The bank manager was momentarily stunned. Lin Feiruo rarely visited the bank in person; because her account frequently handled large sums of money, she was a high-value client the bank prioritized for service.
Resetting a password was one thing, but retracting a transfer was a first.
As long as a major client’s request was legal and compliant, the bank had no right to question it. However, based on experience, the manager felt Miss Lin seemed a bit “off” today.
Seeing him dawdling more than before, Lin Feiruo felt a flicker of anxiety. Although she had bluffed her way past Jian Xiyan, she hadn’t fully adapted to the original owner’s role yet—she still had the nagging guilt of an impostor.
She casually touched her chin, intentionally adopting Jian Xiyan’s calm, aloof tone: “Is there a problem with canceling this transfer?”
The words were a question, but once the tone turned “cool,” the perception changed. It became an interrogation.
The manager gave a forced smile and began tapping at his keyboard. “No problem at all. It’s just that this is your first time making such a request, so we need to confirm the reason.”
Lin Feiruo noticed that the aloof tone worked wonders; the manager’s attitude shifted instantly. No wonder Jian Xiyan loved that vibe. She found herself unexpectedly recalling the silhouette of a certain someone standing by a window, talking on the phone.
Truly beautiful.
Recalling the image of them parting ways this morning, Lin Feiruo sighed inwardly. A pity she wouldn’t see her again.
First she was cold and questioning, then she looked somber; to the manager, she appeared to be in a foul mood. His fingers flew across the keys even faster, and his voice became even more cautious.
“May I ask for the reason Miss Lin wishes to cancel this transfer?”
Lin Feiruo didn’t just copy the tone this time; she mimicked the demeanor. She slightly lifted her gaze, sweeping it over the manager’s keyboard, and said indifferently: “The money is mine. I have the right to dispose of it as I wish. I suddenly don’t want to send it; I have other uses for it.”
She curved her lips into a tiny, sharp arc. “Is that reason enough?”
The manager froze for a second, then nodded vigorously. “Yes, yes, of course.”
He stared at the screen, typing at lightning speed while explaining: “We don’t mean to pry, but current regulations are quite complex. It’s just a requirement of the job. I hope Miss Lin can understand and bear with us.”
Lin Feiruo was secretly delighted that she had captured the essence of Jian Xiyan. Her mood turned inexplicably pleasant. “I understand.”
Before long, the manager printed out the transaction slip for her signature. “This remittance totals 6 million. Retracting it will take approximately three working days for the funds to return to your account. Please be aware.”
Lin Feiruo’s hand shook slightly as she signed. Good grief.
What kind of profound love was this? To transfer 6 million to Yan Shan without blinking, leaving only 200,000 for oneself. If it hadn’t been for that extra 2 million “compensation” from Jian Xiyan, Lin Feiruo would have doubted she was looking at the right account.
Yan Shan is a total emotional con artist!
Lin Feiruo signed her name with resentment, feeling it wasn’t worth it for the original owner. In the eyes of the unworthy, even if you give your life, you won’t get a moment of gratitude; they’ll just think the “dog” is easy to fool.
While the manager was entering information, Lin Feiruo made another request: “Print out the full transaction history for this account for the last two years. I have a use for it.”
“Certainly, one moment.”
“Also, I have three cards under my name. Please suspend the payment functions for these two for now.”
Lin Feiruo only kept the card that had received the 2 million. She decided to “protect” the card used to send money to Yan Shan and another card that seemed inactive. She didn’t want to wake up one day and find her money had been automatically transferred away again. She was speechless at the original owner’s brainless devotion, and even more so at Yan Shan’s bottomless lack of ethics.
Exiting the bank, Lin Feiruo took several deep breaths. The sun was still brutal, but she felt wonderful. She had money, she had freedom, and she didn’t have to listen to the “996 is a blessing” lies in a lab.
Since the bank business took a while, she was getting hungry. She remembered her breakfast was rushed—though not as rushed as Jian Xiyan’s. She wondered if the flight had taken off; the “Steel Woman” could probably eat something on the plane. But then she recalled the image of Jian Xiyan working non-stop last night and shook her head. Jian Xiyan would likely skip the food to focus on her documents.
After checking in and entering the VIP lounge with her secretary and staff, Jian Xiyan received a call from Uncle Li. Usually, she didn’t need reports for simple drop-offs, but today she had specifically told him to let her know once he was finished.
“Young Mistress, Miss Feiruo asked me to drop her off near the Ning’an Road subway station.”
“Ning’an Road? The subway station?”
“She said she wanted to go shopping.”
Shopping with luggage? Jian Xiyan’s lips curled. She didn’t need to think twice to know Lin Feiruo was lying. But it was a harmless lie; Jian Xiyan knew she probably just didn’t want her exact whereabouts known.
“Understood.”
Jian Xiyan thought for a moment, then told Uncle Li: “Tell Aunt Shu she can take a break. Before I return, go and tidy up He Garden.”
“And when Miss Feiruo returns from her vacation…?”
“She’ll be back later than me.”
The style of Pear Orchard wasn’t to Jian Xiyan’s liking. Now that Lin Feiruo was gone, she didn’t plan to live there. She didn’t want to go back to the Main Residence either. After this trip, she planned to move directly into her old property, He Garden.
Xu Liqing, standing nearby, heard everything. Once Jian Xiyan put down her phone, she smiled. “What’s this? Did you two have a fight?”
Jian Xiyan’s hand holding her coffee paused. “Why do you say that?”
“You’ve been married for two years and never took Lin Feiruo to He Garden. Are you planning to take her there to coax her back this time?”
Jian Xiyan had been worried her staff might notice something was wrong. Although Xu Liqing was one of her own, if she could see an anomaly so easily, it meant Jian Xiyan wasn’t acting well enough.
So that’s what she thinks…
She took a sip of coffee and set it down calmly. “It’s nothing like that.”
As she moved the cup, the wedding ring on her ring finger flashed with a low-key brilliance. Xu Liqing had seen it countless times, but she couldn’t help being drawn to it.
“I used to think that ring from Lin Feiruo was an eyesore—just like her, not quite a match for you. Now, thanks to that ring, a lot of unnecessary trouble is avoided.”
Since Jian Xiyan had taken over more core business, she had to handle more social engagements alone. Those covetous, prying, and even rude gazes were persistent. If Jian Xiyan didn’t have that ring on her hand, those wolves would have pounced long ago. People in business are generally shameless, but they hate losing face in public. They only dared to lust after her in secret; they didn’t dare openly destroy someone’s marriage.
Jian Xiyan had considered not wearing the ring for this trip. Although the divorce wouldn’t be public for three months, legally, she and Lin Feiruo were over.
But President Bu… She remembered the hidden, repulsive look in his eyes during previous meetings. She decided to keep the ring on. Anyway, on Tara Island, Lin Feiruo wouldn’t see whether she was wearing it or not.
Besides, she felt that if Lin Feiruo knew why she was doing it, she would understand. After all, Lin Feiruo had offered her sincere blessings last night. Wearing a ring to fend off harassment was just one way to “live well.”
The “hamster face” flashed in her mind again. Jian Xiyan could actually visualize the hamster staring with bright eyes and nodding in agreement.
But Yan Shan might not be so agreeable…
The thought of Yan Shan made Jian Xiyan’s face turn cold instantly. It was true she had spoken up to get Yan Shan into Jiang Wanru’s new film, but she didn’t want Yan Shan using her as a springboard to leech resources everywhere.
“Liqing, follow up on something for me.”
“What is it?”
“Keep an eye on Yan Shan’s movements.”
Jian Xiyan never followed stars. Xu Liqing thought for a moment and realized, “Is this Xiaomin’s request?”
“It’s mine.”
Xu Liqing was puzzled. “Wait, was recommending her for this film not Xiaomin’s idea either?”
Jian Xiyan narrowed her eyes, pondering. “Xiaomin doesn’t know about this. Don’t tell her.”
Xu Liqing was even more confused, but knowing Jian Xiyan, having her watch Yan Shan closely didn’t mean she wanted to promote her. “Is she… a problem?”
Jian Xiyan’s fingers tapped the armrest of the sofa. “Tell her to keep her mouth shut. Not a single word that shouldn’t be said should appear in the media.”
