After Divorcing the Beautiful Richest Woman, She Fell in Love (GL) - Chapter 20
After agreeing to meet at the film set, Lin Feiruo didn’t dwell on Yan Shan’s affairs and continued searching for information on the wellness forum tickets. This was her current priority, though she found that money alone couldn’t solve it.
The tickets were registered under real names and required a signature upon entry, which completely cut off the option of buying from scalpers.
Getting an “internal” ticket was certainly a way, but Lin Feiruo had no friends and no network. How was she supposed to break into the inner circle?
Since she couldn’t get a ticket, she decided to look into Dr. Yu’s writings first. Lin Feiruo found an electronic version and began reading seriously.
“I didn’t expect nutrition science could be adapted into a comic; this is interesting.”
The textbooks and materials Lin Feiruo had encountered during her studies were incredibly serious, radiating scientific rigor from beginning to end—prolonged immersion in them made one prone to hair loss.
Yu Qingci had published three books, and the one with the best market response was the one she was currently reading: What Counts as Nutritious Eating?
Lin Feiruo had expected a list of professional terms followed by detailed explanations of how different component ratios affect various bodily functions. After reading it, she realized her previous thoughts were all stereotypes.
An expert could actually use plain, simple language to convey scientific knowledge to the public—humorous, with clearly highlighted points. Lin Feiruo read it with great relish.
“If only the supervisors I met were like this, they definitely wouldn’t promote the idea that ‘the lab is my home’!”
Thinking of those painful experiences, she still held a grudge; the past trauma was simply too deep.
The next day, Lin Feiruo slept in. Since she had to meet Yan Shan in the afternoon, she didn’t schedule anything else.
After breakfast, she watched a movie in the hotel’s small private cinema. Finding it was still early, she casually scrolled through her social feed.
The original owner’s social circle was truly withered and lonely—essentially, there were no living people besides the members of the Jian family. She had looked through it before; Jian Xiyan rarely posted on her own, occasionally sharing news or promotions related to the Jian Group.
The most active was Jian Xiaomin, who posted from everywhere, domestic and foreign, possessing seemingly endless energy and enthusiasm. Lin Feiruo hadn’t learned much about Jian Xiaomin from the book’s plot, but she had learned quite a lot from her fulfilling social feed.
As she scrolled, she saw the film set news shared by Jian Xiaomin.
Although she didn’t care about Yan Shan, since she was making a trip to the film city anyway, it wouldn’t hurt to understand the situation on set. After scanning it once, Lin Feiruo reached a conclusion: Jiang Wanru’s acting completely outperformed a group of “vases,” Yan Shan included.
However, the main purpose of this report was to praise Jiang Wanru; the criticism of others wasn’t particularly overt. Lin Feiruo felt that Jian Xiaomin’s choice to share this post was actually quite restrained. It seemed Jian Xiyan really had communicated with her, and the effect was decent.
After lunch, it was blistering hot outside. Lin Feiruo was forced to bring a jacket and bought a temporary hat. The people on set might not recognize her, but it would still be trouble if she were photographed. She didn’t want to leave any evidence that could generate gossip; one could never be too careful.
She took a taxi to the entrance of the film city, where Yan Shan’s assistant, Nian Jia, was already waiting. Seeing Lin Feiruo, Nian Jia hesitated for a moment before proactively approaching her.
Lin Feiruo nodded to her, her sunglasses covering most of her face. Nian Jia turned understandingly and led the way: “Follow me this way, there’s no one around.”
Lin Feiruo followed quietly behind Nian Jia, mentally memorizing the route. Yan Shan was full of schemes; if the talk fell through later, she would return the same way she came. The way out might not be smooth, but the way in was certainly safe.
Nian Jia occasionally looked back to observe, but Lin Feiruo remained silent the entire time. She was taken directly to Yan Shan’s room. Fortunately, they encountered almost no one along the way.
Yan Shan gave Nian Jia a look, and the assistant sensibly retreated.
Lin Feiruo had officially met Yan Shan. She had thought she might experience the same dizziness as last time—she hadn’t even taken off her hat or glasses just to hide it. To her surprise, nothing happened, except for a slight feeling of nausea.
She swallowed a few times and took several deep breaths, barely suppressing the sickly feeling.
Yan Shan had been observing her. When she saw Lin Feiruo standing at the door with a cold face and saying nothing, her heart had skipped a beat.
But seeing her silently swallow, Yan Shan’s heart steadied. Lin Feiruo still had “feelings” for her; she was just suppressing them.
Yan Shan proactively flashed a sweet smile and walked toward her. “Why are you standing there in a daze?” Her tone was exceptionally soft and coquettish, as if she were dissatisfied with Lin Feiruo’s bluntness.
Lin Feiruo instinctively leaned back, disliking her proximity.
Seeing this, Yan Shan was very displeased but stopped nonetheless. She had planned to coax Lin Feiruo today, so she had to be accommodating. She turned and pointed to the sofa: “Go sit down, standing is exhausting.”
She even used the tone of a spoiled child that Lin Feiruo usually responded to best: “You don’t need the hat and sunglasses in the room. Don’t you want to let me see you?”
Lin Feiruo slowly took off her hat, clutching her sunglasses in her hand. Seeing that she was willing to sit, Yan Shan smiled and diligently took a drink from the mini-fridge, shoving it into her hand.
Lin Feiruo was indeed a bit thirsty, but she didn’t drink immediately. Since she entered the room, fragments of memory had surfaced—mostly of Yan Shan acting cute to beg for the original owner’s support.
It felt even more nauseating; she lost all interest in the drink.
Yan Shan lightly scratched the back of her hand. “Why aren’t you drinking? You’ve been so dazed today. Is something on your mind?”
Lin Feiruo ignored the question and asked directly, “What is this ‘important matter’ you mentioned?”
Yan Shan retracted her smile, a few traces of worry appearing between her brows. “I don’t know how to say it, actually…”
Lin Feiruo interrupted bluntly: “Just say it.”
Yan Shan was startled, completely unaccustomed to Lin Feiruo’s behavior today. This was the first time she had been so proactive, even making such obvious gestures of goodwill, yet Lin Feiruo acted as if she hadn’t seen it at all and looked very repulsed.
Being disliked was not a new experience for Yan Shan—in the past, she had to smile and flatter many people just to get a chance in the industry—but in front of Lin Feiruo, she always held her head high.
So, seeing Lin Feiruo like this made Yan Shan especially uncomfortable!
“Did you call me here just to watch you hesitate?”
Sensing her impatience, Yan Shan bit her lip, her gaze becoming even more helpless and fragile. “Have you… forgotten about me?”
Lin Feiruo’s brow jumped; she felt this was even more melodramatic than the day she first transmigrated.
“If I hadn’t said that, would you have planned to never reply to my messages?” Yan Shan’s eyes were already reddening, and she bit her lip gently, looking at her with deep grievance.
Lin Feiruo rested one hand on the sofa armrest, leaning back. “I just felt there was nothing to chat about, so replying wasn’t necessary.”
Yan Shan’s eyes flickered with panic.
She never expected Lin Feiruo to say that.
She had imagined Lin Feiruo being petty, or hiding a surprise, or explaining her difficulties—she never imagined she would try to cut ties.
Yan Shan sniffled, still looking aggrieved: “Why?”
After meeting her, Lin Feiruo confirmed there was no “leverage” or terrifying plot twist. Yan Shan was just a small starlet trying to climb the ladder by any means necessary, exploiting the original owner’s devotion for resources. She wanted to use this opportunity to end it.
“No reason. I just feel frequent contact isn’t good anymore.”
Yan Shan’s heart sank; she believed this likely had something to do with Jian Xiyan, otherwise Lin Feiruo would never say such a thing. But she was more worried about whether Lin Feiruo would continue to help her unconditionally.
“I’ve been very lost lately; I just wanted someone to talk to.”
Lin Feiruo studied her skeptically, only to see Yan Shan suddenly sit closer to her.
“Will you hold me? I’m struggling so hard on my own.”
Lin Feiruo felt the back of her left hand itch, and then Yan Shan took her hand, intending to place it on her own shoulder. She quickly pulled her hand back and stood up from the sofa. “What are you doing!”
Yan Shan lost her balance and stumbled onto the sofa, looking a bit disheveled.
Lin Feiruo looked down at her and said irritably, “Anyway, I came to see you today just to make it clear: from now on, let’s not contact each other again.”
Yan Shan sat up, tears nearly falling. “Then what about the things you promised me? Those don’t count either?”
“What?”
“You said you’d lend me a sum of money to promote myself during this shoot, you said you’d help me get the DU brand ambassadorship, you said…”
Lin Feiruo shook her head. “I can’t help you.” Then she said goodbye decisively, “There’s nothing else to talk about. I’m leaving.”
Lin Feiruo put her hat back on and walked to the door. Yan Shan, completely blindsided by her resolve, froze before chasing after her.
Nian Jia was guarding outside and was totally unprepared to see Lin Feiruo come out with a dark face, radiating a cold aura and an unprecedented sense of “cool.”
“You’re leaving—”
Before she could finish, Yan Shan stumbled out with red eyes. Lin Feiruo headed back the way she came. Yan Shan had no time to offer guidance and could only follow quickly.
The quiet path usually had few people, so Yan Shan was less cautious. She ran to catch up, blocking Lin Feiruo’s path.
“You’re breaking your word! Is all my previous effort going to be for nothing?” She was in tears, her acting much more vivid than it was in front of the camera.
Seeing her stubbornness—and considering they were outside and she couldn’t be as blunt as before—Lin Feiruo offered a few words of kind advice: “Focus on honing your acting. Once your professional skills improve, you’ll naturally have more options. You can’t become a good actor by always buying your way into roles.”
After saying this, she herself was stunned. It turned out that because Jian Xiaomin had been nagging in her ear repeatedly, the thought had unconsciously taken root in her mind.
Yan Shan stopped her tears and switched from playing the victim to a threat: “That’s not what you said before. If you’ve had a change of heart, just say it!”
Lin Feiruo lost her patience and replied without hesitation: “Yes, I’ve had a change of heart!”
“You!” Yan Shan’s face froze instantly.
