After Losing My Memory, I Was Targeted by the Obsessive Movie Queen [gl] - Chapter 5
Seven years ago, they were both eighteen, attending the same high school and even the same class. However, due to other reasons, throughout the entire second year of high school, their interaction was virtually zero—or rather, they had never truly met.
Lu Youqing knew of Yan He. As the daughter of Yan Suyyi and the future successor of the Yan Group, Yan He had acquaintances wherever she went; she and Lu Youqing had never walked the same path.
The turning point began at a summer night banquet. As the eldest miss of the Yan Group, Yan He was naturally dragged to the event by Yan Suyyi.
Yan Suyyi’s original intention was to take her daughter to get familiar with the heads of major corporations. Once she had led Yan He through the introductions, she naturally set her daughter free.
Yan He was like a bird released from a cage. Dragging her evening gown behind her, she wandered aimlessly through the banquet’s back garden. At this hour, most guests were inside socializing. The back garden was quiet; the sounds of cicadas and birds fell into the silent night, and the gentle breeze felt immensely comfortable against her skin. It was as if a barrier separated her from the noise of the party.
And so, in this quiet and comfortable place, Yan He in her gown encountered Lu Youqing in hers.
“After we met, did I say anything?” Yan He listened intently. The feeling of listening to her own story while her head was empty was very strange—like she was manually filling her mind with missing pieces.
“Of course you did. And I’ve remembered what you said ever since.”
Lu Youqing’s words immediately piqued Yan He’s curiosity. She asked impatiently, “What did I say?”
Lu Youqing’s face, hidden in the darkness, suddenly broke into a smile. She spoke: “You said, ‘You’re so beautiful. Can I be your friend?'”
Yan He fell silent instantly. She buried her head in the blanket and didn’t make a sound for a long time. All she could hear was Lu Youqing’s soft laughter drifting through the air into her ears. She could almost imagine Lu Youqing’s solemn expression. With her cheeks slightly flushed, Yan He waited a long time before asking under the cover of the night:
“Did I really say that back then?”
“Naturally,” Lu Youqing replied, shifting her position slightly, causing the rustle of fabric again. “You remembered this very clearly too, but now you’ve lost your memory and forgotten.”
Yan He stopped asking. Closing her eyes, she could almost sketch the scene based on what Lu Youqing had said. Humans are different from other animals; they can imagine, sketching a scene they don’t remember and even adding details out of thin air. As Yan He thought about it, the scene became clearer, and the more she thought, the more embarrassed she felt.
“And then? What did you answer?” She quickly shook her head to toss the scenes out of her mind, nearly giving herself a headache.
“And then,” Lu Youqing thought for a moment, “Before I could answer, you were taken away by your mother. We didn’t interact after that.”
“Oh, okay.” Yan He’s voice was undeniably disappointed. She thought they would have at least spoken more during their first meeting.
“By the way, why were you there? Were you also attending the banquet?” Yan He inquired.
This time, Lu Youqing’s response wasn’t as fast as before. Her voice was lower, sounding like an answer given after careful deliberation.
“Yes.”
Her voice traveled through the darkness to Yan He’s ears. Yan He didn’t hear anything unusual and simply nodded to herself.
“I see. What about our next meeting?”
“That was around the time school started.” Perhaps it was truly getting late; Lu Youqing’s words became brief.
“After school started, because of our previous meeting, we began to have some interaction. Later, the seats were changed, and it just so happened that we sat together. We gradually became close.”
After finishing, she stared toward where Yan He was and said slowly, “Alright, A-He has heard enough. It’s time to sleep.”
Yan He also knew how late it was. Actually, she had slept for a long time in the afternoon and wasn’t sleepy now, but worried that Lu Youqing was exhausted after a busy day, she didn’t press further. There would be plenty of time to learn more later; there was no rush.
With that in mind, Yan He tucked in her blanket, said goodnight to Lu Youqing, and closed her eyes.
The atmosphere in the room gradually became peaceful, and even the wind outside the window seemed to slow down. Through the sliver of the open window, a gentle breeze blew in, swaying the curtains. Yan He’s chaotic consciousness gradually turned calm, her breathing leveled out, and the whole world seemed to fall into a state of tranquility.
Lu Youqing turned onto her side, her cool eyes looking straight at Yan He not far away. Her gaze gradually became deep and soft, merging with the endless dark night. The dim yellow light fell on Yan He’s face, looking warm and romantic.
Lu Youqing slowly reached out her hand, silently tracing Yan He’s face from across the distance in the air, her expression full of longing. The darkness suppressed her breathing. She heard the thumping of her own pulse, yet because of Yan He’s presence, she found herself starting to like this dark night.
She had indeed not told the whole truth just now. Their next meeting wasn’t at school. She said it was “around the time school started,” so Yan He naturally assumed it was after school began, but it wasn’t.
Lu Youqing didn’t have much of an impression of that single glance at the banquet. Even if Yan Suyyi hadn’t appeared, she wouldn’t have given much of a response. What made her truly take notice of Yan He was the night before school started.
Lu Youqing’s eyes suddenly became dark, falling into memory through the image of Yan He’s sleeping face.
She would always remember that river of flowing cold water. She would always remember the young girl standing on the bridge talking to her in the wind.
“Classmate, are you here to watch the moon?”
“I know a place where the view is beautiful. Do you want to come with me?”
The girl reached her hand out to her. Her voice, like a clear spring flowing over stones, rang in her ears. For a moment, Lu Youqing seemed to return to that night—that late night covered in thick clouds, where a dense, inseparable blackness coiled tightly around her, making even her breath carry a chill.
Lu Youqing closed her eyes, her breathing becoming erratic. Fearing her voice would wake Yan He, she reached up to cover her lips, trying her best not to make a sound, letting herself sink into the pitch-black night.
In the middle of the night, Yan He’s head began to ache again. Perhaps it was a sequela of the car accident impact; her bandaged head throbbed with stinging pain. Yet, she remained trapped in a deep dream, unable to escape, only uttering a few trembling gasps in her sleep.
In her mind was a deep sea where nothing could be seen. She was like a navigator who had lost everything, rising and falling with the waves, interspersed with flashes of memories that manifested as claps of thunder in her dream.
The pain seemed to originate from the depths of her soul. Yan He trembled with pain, unable to distinguish between reality and the dream. She only felt something invisibly touching her, and then the overwhelming pain slowly withdrew like a deflating balloon. She couldn’t help but grasp at this gentleness, hoping it would stay longer.
In the room, the dim yellow light illuminated a corner of the bed, falling on Lu Youqing’s fair and beautiful face, revealing her worried, frowning expression.
Lu Youqing’s hands were gently massaging Yan He’s forehead. Her voice was incredibly tender, like the first rain of spring, enveloping her pain.
“It’s okay, A-He. I’m here by your side, I’m with you. Nothing will happen, it’s okay…”
The woman in her arms gradually smoothed her brow and sank back into a deep sleep. The hand holding Lu Youqing’s left hand gradually lost its strength and fell onto the blanket.
Lu Youqing reached out to take her hand. Looking at the woman’s peaceful sleeping face, she smiled with satisfaction, her eyes deep and tender.
Her knuckles rubbed against Yan He’s palm, as if wanting to wear the skin away so their blood could mingle.
Holding Yan He’s hand, she slowly placed it against the side of her own face, greedily feeling the warmth of Yan He’s palm. The emotions hidden in her eyes were finally no longer suppressed, showing a non-negotiable love and obsession.
Recalling the events of the day, she still felt a bit dazed, a sense of unreality. The Yan He who smiled at her and felt shy—though reserved, she was very cute. This was a Yan He she hadn’t seen in a long time.
Lu Youqing looked deeply at Yan He, her surging love impossible to hide. She let out a trembling breath and finally, unable to endure any longer, placed a trembling kiss in the center of Yan He’s palm.
“If possible, could you please never recover your memory?”
If possible, I hope you will always be this wonderful.
A-He, I love you.
No one loves you more than I do.
