After Marrying the Cold and Elegant Beauty, I Fell in Love (GL) - Chapter 15
Han Shuangshuang didn’t understand why Shen Yuru looked so angry.
Clearly, it was Shen Yuru who had looked down on her first.
“It was Senior Shen who thought I was stupid and didn’t choose me. I’m not even the one sulking, so why is Senior Shen scolding me with her eyes again?” Han Shuangshuang pouted and muttered softly.
Shen Yuru clenched her back teeth, her phoenix eyes narrowing as she looked at Han Shuangshuang—and the girl next to her, Shi Nianxue—with a trace of danger.
Shen Yuru felt her heart racing. A strange emotion was taking root in her chest, making her incredibly irritable.
Shi Nianxue was Han Shuangshuang’s ex-girlfriend.
Yun Ruyi had told her that Han Shuangshuang was only approaching her for the novelty—playing with her just like she played with everyone else. Han Shuangshuang was just a young girl whose feathers hadn’t even fully grown yet; she was childish, impulsive, and never took responsibility for her actions.
She was only with her now out of a whim. Once Han Shuangshuang got bored or tired, she would discard her instantly.
Shen Yuru didn’t believe she would change because of Han Shuangshuang, nor did she think the girl had the ability to sway her emotions.
After all, she had investigated: she and Han Shuangshuang were destined to be tied together by an engagement sooner or later. Han Shuangshuang’s reputation was already ruined far and wide.
But Shen Yuru had to endure. She had to let those predatory relatives believe she still had no power to resist. She had to enter this forced engagement with Han Shuangshuang to make them lower their guard.
She shouldn’t have been here today. This peer-support meeting was a waste of time.
Shen Yuru’s index finger twitched. She felt as though the sting from where Han Shuangshuang’s canines had bitten her yesterday was still there. By the time she snapped back to reality, she was already standing in the small meeting room. She sat in the corner, instinctively searching for Han Shuangshuang.
Because she had discovered something: her heart didn’t feel as uncomfortable as before.
When she consulted her psychiatrist, the doctor told her to reflect on who she had been in contact with lately and if that contact made her feel “comfortable.” Shen Yuru’s first reaction was to deny that being with Han Shuangshuang felt good.
But the only person she had been around lately was Han Shuangshuang.
So, even if she didn’t want to get involved in these troublesome matters, she had to find opportunities to be near the girl to confirm her theory.
But she hadn’t expected this Han Shuangshuang to drop her “act” so quickly—the ex-girlfriend had already jumped out impatiently.
A cold sneer curled the corner of Shen Yuru’s mouth. Looking at Han Shuangshuang’s pouting, “wronged” expression, she did something unprecedented and spoke up in front of everyone: “Junior Han sure is capable, keeping a ‘backup’ for herself.”
Shi Nianxue, who had been enjoying the show from the sidelines, suddenly felt a sting at the word “backup.” Her expression shifted instantly.
Han Shuangshuang was the first to counter: “No way! I’m very pure, okay? I’m just bad at studying—I don’t understand all these schemes. If Senior Shen hadn’t looked at me with such disdain, how could the President have the nerve to insult me so shamelessly in front of teachers and students?”
Shen Yuru naturally disliked Long Aodi’s words, but her attention was now entirely on the ex-girlfriend, Shi Nianxue.
It was as if the words Yun Ruyi spoke—words she hadn’t wanted to believe—had come true in a heartbeat.
Shi Nianxue certainly knew who Shen Yuru was. After all, she was famous. However, this Han Shuangshuang seemed a bit different than before; her nervous act was actually quite fun.
Shi Nianxue glanced between Han Shuangshuang and Shen Yuru a few times before stepping out. “Why make something simple so complicated? Han Shuangshuang and I are in the same major. I’m a sophomore, she’s a freshman. I’ll definitely have more experience teaching her. There’s no need for Senior Shen to waste her energy on this ‘crooked-neck tree.’”
With that, Shi Nianxue grabbed Han Shuangshuang’s wrist to lead her away.
The teacher had no objection. The “hot potato” was finally being offloaded.
Long Aodi had no objection either, as long as Han Shuangshuang didn’t stay near Shen Yuru.
Han Shuangshuang was like a reed by the river, blown back and forth by these winds, having zero power to decide for herself. This was truly a case of “the kings of hell fighting while the little ghost suffers.”
Shen Yuru’s gaze grew darker, and the dangerous aura around her intensified. Han Shuangshuang couldn’t help but shiver; even her body, being pulled by Shi Nianxue, stumbled.
Yan Huan, relying on her sharp instincts, finally sensed something was off. She looked at Yun Yun and said, “Isn’t this supposed to be a mutual choice? Both the junior and the senior have to agree. Even if a sophomore pops up, doesn’t Han Shuangshuang have to personally consent?”
Han Shuangshuang didn’t even have the focus to listen to Yan Huan. She was just trying not to fall flat on her face. At the moment she nearly tripped, she felt her other wrist gripped tightly by a hand.
The hand was slightly cool, sending goosebumps up half her arm.
Han Shuangshuang finally steadied herself and looked over. Shen Yuru was staring darkly at her and Shi Nianxue.
For some reason, Han Shuangshuang’s heart thudded.
Oh no. Shen Yuru must think I approached her just to toy with her. Now that the ex-girlfriend is here, I’m just going to leave with her? That all our time together was just a whim?
Han Shuangshuang suddenly thought of the worst-case scenario. In the book, Shen Yuru “blackened” because Long Aodi manufactured “accidental” encounters to act as her savior, only for her to realize he was just using her for profit before discarding her.
How was her current situation any different from that calculating Long Aodi?
Shen Yuru’s slender fingers gripped Han Shuangshuang’s wrist with no intention of letting go.
Shi Nianxue raised an eyebrow, thinking she had really come to the right place today—this was more interesting than she imagined. “Senior Shen, what is the meaning of this? Do you have thoughts about my ex-girlfriend? Pulling and tugging in public like this with no official relationship… it’s easy for people to misunderstand, you know.”
Han Shuangshuang’s whole body went stiff. Her scalp felt numb because Shi Nianxue was using a “sweet” voice. A doll-like face paired with a 170cm “big sister” body and a sugary-sweet voice…
Help!! This kind of character was clearly not to be trifled with.
Shen Yuru gave a cold huff. “This is a task given to me by the school. The purpose of this meeting is for juniors to support freshmen. As a sophomore, you still need to focus on your own studies. How do you have so much time to waste on a ‘crooked-neck tree’ like Han Shuangshuang?”
Before the ex-girlfriend appeared, Han Shuangshuang called her “Sister Shen.” Now that the ex was here, she had distantly started calling her “Senior Shen.” Shen Yuru’s face grew darker by the second.
She wanted Han Shuangshuang to know that she was not someone to be messed with.
Han Shuangshuang felt that when Shen Yuru said “crooked-neck tree,” she had intentionally emphasized the words. It sounded strange—like someone’s own tree was being stolen, or like the tree itself was ungrateful and trying to run away with someone else.
Shi Nianxue’s lips curled. “So, Senior Shen means to fight me for Han Shuangshuang?”
Shen Yuru pursed her lips and didn’t answer, but she silently shifted her phoenix eyes to Han Shuangshuang’s face.
Shen Yuru looked at her. Shi Nianxue’s thoughtful gaze also fell on her. Everyone else followed suit; a dozen pairs of eyes were fixed squarely on Han Shuangshuang.
She felt an immense amount of pressure. Especially Shi Nianxue’s “smiling fox” look—it made her incredibly uncomfortable, like she was being calculated against.
[System: Please choose carefully, Host. Your choice at this moment will influence the future plot direction.]
Huh? Hearing this, Han Shuangshuang’s resolve wavered. Did this mean Shi Nianxue was a major supporting character who would be tied to her?
[System: Friendly Reminder: Shen Yuru’s Blackening Value is fluctuating.]
Han Shuangshuang was still thinking. However, in Shen Yuru’s eyes, Han Shuangshuang looked like a scumbag trying to “step on two boats” (date two people).
[System: Warning! Shen Yuru’s Blackening Value +2. Current Value: 92. Triggering Blackening Rebound Punishment.]
Suddenly, Han Shuangshuang felt a surge of hunger—a terrifying, hollow starvation, as if she would die in the next second.
Was this the sensation the original host felt before she starved to death?
Han Shuangshuang didn’t dare hesitate. She immediately wrenched her wrist away from Shi Nianxue.
“I choose Sister Shen!”
Han Shuangshuang was so hungry that tears filled her eyes; her puppy eyes looked utterly pitiful.
Shi Nianxue didn’t get angry at being brushed off. She kept that same smirk as she watched Han Shuangshuang grab Shen Yuru’s wrist and pull her out of the auditorium.
Han Shuangshuang felt a burning pain in her stomach, as if she were about to lose consciousness. Her actions were now guided entirely by a subconscious survival instinct.
She pulled Shen Yuru into a small grove on campus, finding a quiet, secluded spot where no one would pass by. She pushed Shen Yuru against a tree, pinned her shoulders, and… bit down.
She even went a step further, becoming more demanding. It was as if the well-behaved puppy had been starved into a vicious wolf, trying to swallow the person in front of her whole.
Only when she felt her stomach slowly feeling “full” did her reason gradually return.
She saw Shen Yuru’s phoenix eyes filled with tears—slightly blurred, incredibly alluring—and her lips were red and swollen.
Han Shuangshuang immediately let go, apologizing tremulously.
“Sister Shen, I was wrong.”
Shen Yuru steadied her ragged breathing and touched her bitten lip with her index finger.
Her voice was calm but held a trace of… something else. “Is this how all scumbags apologize?”
