- Chapter 18 - She Wants to Bind Leng Yan First
“Move aside then.” Leng Yan gave He Yinshao a light push with the back of her hand, preparing to brush past her.
“Wait a second…” He Yinshao grabbed Leng Yan’s hand. “Are you going out? To the hospital?”
“Yes, that’s right,” Leng Yan admitted. “I cut my hand while slicing raw meat; I need to go.”
“I’m coming with you.” He Yinshao held onto Leng Yan firmly. “Take me with you, okay?”
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt too?” Leng Yan looked at the person in front of her with confusion.
“No, I just… I just want to go with you…” He Yinshao’s voice grew smaller and smaller toward the end. Sensing that Leng Yan probably didn’t want her company, she prepared to leave. “Never mind, I—”
“Oh, fine. Let’s go together then.” Leng Yan didn’t know why she agreed to He Yinshao’s request, but she felt like it would be a bit strange not to bring her along.
Leng Yan grumbled internally: Have I really gotten used to He Yinshao following me around these past two days???
Seeing that Leng Yan had agreed, the expression on He Yinshao’s face changed instantly. One second she was ready to give up, and the next she was grinning widely.
“Okay~”
Looking at He Yinshao’s smile through her sunglasses, Leng Yan felt an indescribable emotion. Her lips curled up slightly for a moment before the expression vanished, as if that fleeting smile had never existed on her face.
“Let’s go.” Leng Yan grabbed her car keys and strode away.
“Mhm.” He Yinshao followed close behind.
They arrived in front of a red sports car. Leng Yan pressed the key fob, the door opened easily, and she sat in the driver’s seat.
He Yinshao instinctively reached for the passenger door, but then, feeling it might be inappropriate, she moved to open the back door instead.
“What are you doing? Do I look like your chauffeur?” Leng Yan said with some dissatisfaction. “He Yinshao, sit in the front.”
“Oh.” He Yinshao finally sat in the passenger seat. “Is this okay?”
“What’s ‘not okay’ about it?” Leng Yan asked, confused, as she took off her sunglasses.
“Nothing.” He Yinshao fastened her seatbelt.
Leng Yan started the car, her mind wandering.
Tsk, is this girl already imagining a scenario where I’m enslaved by her?
“Leng Yan, you missed the turn…”
“Oh. None. Of. Your. Business.” Having spent the whole drive lost in thought, Leng Yan was a bit annoyed. She had only agreed to let He Yinshao come because she saw the girl looking unhappy earlier.
“You jerk…” Leng Yan couldn’t help but mutter a curse.
“???” He Yinshao turned her head in confusion, then slowly turned back.
She probably wasn’t cursing at me… right…?
Leng Yan drove on, taking a massive detour before finally arriving at the hospital.
When He Yinshao stepped out of the car, her steps were a bit unsteady. She covered her mouth, looking dazed and dizzy. “Ugh…”
“What’s wrong? Motion sickness?” Leng Yan looked innocent as she swung her car keys with one hand.
“No… urgh…” He Yinshao dry-heaved and waved her hand to indicate she was fine.
She hadn’t expected Leng Yan to drive so fast.
“Tsk.”
“He Yinshao, catch.” Leng Yan grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the car and tossed it to her.
“Oh, thanks.” He Yinshao took the water, had a sip, and rinsed her mouth.
Under the sunlight, Leng Yan’s pupils appeared light brown as she stood there steadily watching He Yinshao finish rinsing.
If the plot allowed it, she really wanted to use the car to torment He Yinshao properly, rather than letting her off so easily as she was doing now.
After a moment of thought, Leng Yan strode into the hospital to register.
The doctor prescribed a tetanus shot and an IV drip for Leng Yan. When he saw her name, he thought he had misread it, but upon meeting the cool eyes above Leng Yan’s mask, he excitedly asked for an autograph.
Leng Yan didn’t refuse. She took the pen and paper and signed her name with a flourish. Her handwriting was elegant and bold.
Then she walked over to the IV area.
Meanwhile, He Yinshao’s inner thoughts were shifting…
A small action just now had revealed a clue.
That handwriting—it wasn’t Leng Yan’s. She was absolutely certain. Leng Yan’s handwriting was hideous, nothing like the beautiful, refined script she just saw.
Watching Leng Yan casually take a seat for her drip, He Yinshao stared at her with deep, unreadable eyes.
She whispered under her breath: “Who exactly are you…”
She should have noticed sooner. Leng Yan was supposed to hate her, supposed to kill her—why would she let her go? Why would she handle company affairs on a plane? Why would she be civil to the other guests??
So this Leng Yan didn’t like her—not the one from the first life, nor the second…
Then… what about this third life?
However, she didn’t call her out. Instead, she silently followed and sat in the seat next to her.
“This IV is making my hand so cold.” Leng Yan’s tone wasn’t particularly harsh.
To He Yinshao, it sounded more like a complaint. She silently reached out and cushioned Leng Yan’s hand with her own.
“? Thanks.” Leng Yan leaned her head back slightly, glancing sideways at He Yinshao’s face before closing her eyes.
In a corner not far away, a camera flashed, capturing this scene.
By the afternoon, the trending searches exploded.
#LengYanHeYinshaoPrivateHospitalVisit?
#LengYanAndHeYinshaoSuspectedCouple
#The ‘YanMianHeCun’ Topic Hits Trending!!
[Have these two been hiding it this deep?!!]
[The paparazzi leaked it?!! Then it’s probably true!!]
[The way Leng Yan looks at He Yinshao in that shot is so full of chemistry!!!]
[I told you their relationship wasn’t bad; people kept saying Leng Yan was bullying her in the comments.]
…
Leng Yan hadn’t been in this world long and didn’t expect that simply bringing He Yinshao along would cause such a stir. By the time they returned to the villa and she saw the non-stop discussions on the trending list, she had a bit of a headache. She even ordered her assistant to pay to suppress the search results, but it didn’t work.
He Yinshao looked at the photos trending on Weibo with complex emotions.
She had previously thought the third-life Leng Yan liked her, even awkwardly trying to link it to her memories of the first life. Only today did she realize this third-life Leng Yan was not the same person as the first. Was she the one from the second life?
Does this third-life version… like her?
He Yinshao knew the paparazzi had taken photos of her and Leng Yan that afternoon. She thought about using these trending topics to bind herself to Leng Yan first, using her to increase her own fame. In this life, she was unwilling to cling to He Feng again.
For some reason, when He Yinshao thought about using Leng Yan to boost her fame, she felt… uncomfortable. She touched her chest, her heart tightening slightly before she let go.
The biggest question she had now was: Does she like Leng Yan? And which version of her does she like?
She didn’t know. The current He Yinshao didn’t have the answers.
For the afternoon filming, Leng Yan and He Yinshao missed half of the session.
They entered the frame one after the other, standing at the far left and far right respectively. The “YanMianHeCun” CP fans immediately began flooding the comments:
[Why are they only back now?]
[Tsk tsk, these two are definitely real. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be trying so hard to avoid each other on camera.]
