- After Saving Her White Moonlight, She Blackened?! (GL)
- Chapter 19 - He Yinshao Did It on Purpose
The afternoon filming went normally. Lu Rang had his occasional eccentric moments, but out of consideration for the fact that Leng Yan had just been on an IV drip, he stayed relatively normal most of the time.
Leng Yan was absent during dinner; she had gone back to her room to sleep.
He Yinshao wasn’t in high spirits during dinner either. After eating a few hurried bites, she headed out.
“Teacher He? Are you going out now?” Xi Mengyao asked caringly as she watched He Yinshao change her shoes at the door. “It’s not very safe to go out at this hour…”
“I know. I’m just taking a stroll nearby.” He Yinshao smiled, finished changing, and left.
“What’s up with Teacher He? Teacher Leng has no energy because she was on a drip this afternoon, but why is she so drained too?” Lu Rang asked, resting his arm on the shoulder of Lu Qian, whom he had finally coaxed back into a good mood that afternoon.
“No idea. Why are you curious about everything?”
“Just asking to get a sense of things.”
“Are you asking to ‘get a sense of things,’ or are you thinking about how to assimilate them once you understand them?”
“Hehe~”
Inside the room, Leng Yan was sleeping like a log. Every time she tried to open her eyes, her head throbbed painfully.
Actually, it wasn’t a big deal. Everyone would be resting all day tomorrow, and after filming the day after, they could all head home.
“Ugh…” Leng Yan, waking up for the umpteenth time, checked her phone. It was already 1:00 AM. Having slept for so long, she couldn’t fall back asleep.
She lay there for a while.
Gurgle…
Her stomach betrayed her with a loud growl.
Leng Yan got out of bed, feeling light-headed as she stood up. She opened the door and used her phone’s light to navigate downstairs, rummaging through the fridge and the kitchen.
Perhaps because it was 1:00 AM, Leng Yan let her guard down. She didn’t notice a figure gradually approaching her.
“Do you want congee? I’ll heat it up for you.”
He Yinshao’s voice gave Leng Yan a fright. She jumped, shuddered, and let out a sigh of relief. Turning around in a huff, she punched the other woman’s shoulder. “Can you stop scaring me?!!”
“Oh. Want some?”
“Plain congee? I. Am. Not. Drinking. That.” Leng Yan crossed her arms and shook her head.
“It’s not plain. It’s seafood congee.”
It was seafood congee that He Yinshao had bought during her night walk.
“Well… alright then.”
He Yinshao took the seafood congee out of the fridge, heated it in the microwave for a bit, and handed it to Leng Yan. “It’s a bit hot, be careful…”
“Okay.” Leng Yan stirred it with a spoon and blew on it. She glanced sideways at He Yinshao, whose face was obscured by the dim light across from her, and lowered her eyes. “Thank you.”
He Yinshao: “Mhm.”
Leng Yan set the spoon down: “He Yinshao, you’re supposed to say ‘you’re welcome’.”
He Yinshao: “You’re welcome.”
Leng Yan picked up the spoon again: “That’s better…”
“Are you two looking for food too?” As soon as Lu Rang came downstairs, his phone light caught the two people sitting at the dining table. “What’s there to eat?”
“Not much,” He Yinshao replied. “Check the fridge.”
“Oh, okay. Teacher Leng, what are you eating?” Lu Rang leaned in curiously. His phone light illuminated the seafood congee. “Seafood congee, huh? Looks delicious. Teacher Leng, I also…”
“Lu Rang,” He Yinshao interrupted him. “I made that. Teacher Leng is helping me test it for poison.”
“Oh… okay, okay. Good luck, Teacher Leng.” Lu Rang headed toward the kitchen; he had no intention of eating anything made by He Yinshao again.
“Why aren’t you eating?” He Yinshao stared at the motionless Leng Yan and touched the rim of the bowl. “It’s not hot anymore…”
“He Yinshao… did you make this seafood congee?” Leng Yan thought hesitantly about how to reject this bowl of congee…
“…Just eat it. I didn’t make it.” He Yinshao was speechless and amused.
Leng Yan took a tentative sip. It indeed wasn’t made by He Yinshao; her cooking wasn’t this good.
Lu Rang searched around and found a leftover steamed bun from breakfast. When he came out chewing it, Leng Yan had already finished all the congee.
Lu Rang was surprised: “Teacher Leng? You finished the whole thing?”
“Mhm.”
“To go that far… ‘Yan Mian He Cun’ must be real, right?”
“…”
“…”
Leng Yan stood up to wash the dishes. Just as she turned on the tap, He Yinshao took the bowl and spoon away. “I’ll do it. Why don’t you go back to sleep for a bit?”
“Uh, I don’t want to trouble you…”
“It’s no trouble.” He Yinshao started washing.
Leng Yan felt it wouldn’t be right to leave at that moment, so she stayed and watched He Yinshao wash the dishes.
“He Yinshao, did you buy that congee specifically for me?”
“No. I didn’t get full at dinner, so I bought extra while I was out walking and brought it back.”
“Oh… okay.”
He Yinshao placed the clean dishes on the table and took Leng Yan’s hand. “Finished. Let’s go.”
“Mhm.”
He Yinshao was worried Leng Yan might trip while going up the stairs, so she let Leng Yan go first while she followed behind.
Leng Yan hadn’t felt much at first, but seeing He Yinshao following behind her with her arms slightly spread, her heart began to beat wildly for no reason. Why am I suddenly getting nervous…
Sure enough, a second later, her foot missed the very last step.
“Aah!!”
“Careful!!” He Yinshao had originally intended to catch her, but when the other woman crashed into her arms, the momentum caused them both to tumble down the stairs.
Thump, thump, thump… Bang!!
“What’s going on in the middle of the night?!!” Director Zhang opened his door and yelled.
He switched on the light and saw Lu Rang sitting at the dining table eating a bun, and Leng Yan and He Yinshao lying at the foot of the stairs. At that moment, He Yinshao was still holding Leng Yan in a death grip.
Leng Yan looked at the light, sighed, and tried to get up, but He Yinshao was holding her too tightly. she gave He Yinshao a suggestive pat. “He Yinshao, let go of me…”
He Yinshao continued to hold her. Leng Yan realized something was wrong. She moved He Yinshao’s arms to her own waist and sat up halfway to check on her. “Director Zhang, help me call 911 (120).”
“He Yinshao, how are you?” Leng Yan shook her shoulder, trying to pull the other woman’s arms away.
“Ouch… it hurts a bit.” He Yinshao finally spoke. She had actually just wanted to hold Leng Yan a bit longer—the other woman was really nice to hold…
She hadn’t expected Leng Yan to ask the director to call for an ambulance, so she said, “Director Zhang, I actually don’t need an ambulance…”
“Go anyway, just to get checked out,” Leng Yan said, noticing a few bruises on the other’s arm and worrying about a possible fracture.
“Why is so much happening today?” Xi Mengyao had just coaxed little Kunkun back to sleep. She walked out to find this scene.
Half an hour later, the ambulance arrived. Leng Yan supported He Yinshao with one arm to help her into the vehicle. Before leaving, she apologized to the guests and directors in the villa. “Sorry, tonight’s accident is on us…”
“It’s fine, Teacher Leng, you two go ahead.” Lu Rang waved his hand. Watching the ambulance depart, he finished the last of his bun and stretched. “Go on, everyone back to sleep.”
“Why aren’t you worried at all?” Xi Mengyao noticed Lu Rang’s nonchalant attitude—he had even hurried Leng Yan away—and felt something was off.
Lu Rang saw that both Lu Qian and Xi Mengyao were staring at him. He smiled. “He Yinshao did it on purpose.”
“How do you know?” Lu Qian asked.
“When Director Zhang turned on the light just now, I saw the corner of her mouth—she didn’t have time to hide her smirk…”
“Does Teacher Leng know?”
“No idea. Either way, I’m shipping ‘Yan Mian He Cun’.”
