- After Saving Her White Moonlight, She Blackened?! (GL)
- Chapter 8 - See No Evil, Think No Evil
Although this is a travel reality show, they still need to “ship” a couple (CP) to increase popularity. However, the production team has not yet decided which pair to force for a romantic storyline.
“The directors have decided to divide everyone into two groups to explore the island,” Director Zhang announced through a megaphone. “Little Kunkun, Teacher Xi, and Lu Qian are in one group. Teacher Leng, Lu Rang, and Teacher He are in the other group, and Assistant Director Xu’s team will follow you.”
And so, the two small teams split up on two sides of the island.
While Assistant Director Xu was introducing the island’s sights to the three guests, Leng Yan listened to the chatterbox Lu Rang prattling on about various topics, occasionally giving a perfunctory “Mhm,” “Oh,” or “Okay.” By comparison, He Yinshao’s replies to Lu Rang were slightly longer, but without much enthusiasm either.
On the other side, Little Kunkun, without “Sister,” was not very happy, pouting the whole way and looking on the verge of tears. Eventually, she just buried her head in Xi Mengyao’s shoulder. When Lu Qian saw Xi Mengyao getting tired of holding her, he would take her and hold her for a while. The two of them were extremely polite and respectful to each other, giving off a feeling more like siblings.
Likely because the production team saw no romantic sparks, the two groups gathered back together three hours later.
“You all… take a break…” Director Zhang said, sounding a bit helpless.
“Let’s wait a few more minutes, the sunset will be out soon,” Leng Yan said, looking at the sun still slightly above the horizon far out over the sea.
“Yeah, I want to watch the sunset too,” Xi Mengyao agreed.
Little Kunkun had now returned to Leng Yan’s arms, lightening the load for Xi Mengyao.
“Ge (Brother), I want to see it too, are you going to watch?” Lu Rang said with a grin, looking at Lu Qian.
“Yeah, let’s watch.”
Director Zhang announced, “Then let’s all wait together.”
Lu Rang looked at the beach, where the tide was about to recede. He wrote all the guests’ names on the sand. Whether it was a coincidence or not, a wave happened to wash over Leng Yan’s name, sweeping the characters “Leng Yan” away.
“Oh no…” Lu Rang seemed a little flustered.
“It’s fine, let it be,” Leng Yan said, not showing much emotion. She thought it might be because she didn’t belong to this world, which was why her name was washed away.
“Lu Rang, I took a picture of the complete names. Do you want to post it on Weibo?” Xi Mengyao shook her phone and looked at Lu Rang.
“Oh, great, thank you. Could you send it to me?” Lu Rang stood up, clapped his hands, and thanked her.
Xi Mengyao had originally intended to give him a hard time, but then she remembered he had written her name, and she was the one who had called him a “Ge-bao” (brother-obsessed) this morning. So, she gave up the idea and sent the photo.
“Sent.”
“Got it.”
The sunset quickly finished during their conversation. Everyone saw the sun set. For some reason, this sight is very common, yet people always feel it is beautiful when they see it again.
Seeing the day pass just like that, Leng Yan felt time was moving both quickly and not so quickly.
At the dinner table, Leng Yan noticed Kunkun, who was sitting in her arms, was in low spirits. Her eyes darkened. She touched Kunkun’s forehead—it was hot… Leng Yan immediately stood up, her expression serious. “Kunkun has a fever. Does anyone know what to do?”
“Uh… I don’t know…” Xi Mengyao was startled by Leng Yan’s serious look and spoke with difficulty.
“I don’t really know much about this either…” Lu Rang said awkwardly.
Leng Yan’s heart sank. She picked up Little Kunkun and went back to her room, rummaging through her suitcase for a thermometer and fever-reducing medicine.
Leng Yan held the medicine in her hand hesitantly. Could a child take this medicine?
“First, take Kunkun’s temperature. If it’s below 38.5, there’s no need for medicine,” He Yinshao said, entering the room, which had been left open. He took the thermometer and placed it under Kunkun’s armpit.
“Thank you…” Leng Yan watched He Yinshao come to her aid and quietly let out a sigh of relief. She picked up her disposable towel, wet it with warm water, and gently wiped the drowsy Kunkun’s face.
He Yinshao was momentarily stunned after hearing Leng Yan’s “thank you” and replied softly, “You’re welcome…”
The other people at the dinner hall couldn’t sit still, but out of respect for personal privacy, they didn’t enter Room 309, instead standing by the doorway.
“What happened? Little Kunkun was fine this morning,” the talkative Lu Rang wondered aloud.
Seeing that neither Lu Qian nor Xi Mengyao said anything, he grew even more puzzled…
“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have taken Kunkun jet-skiing. She must have been exposed to the wind for too long,” Leng Yan said, emerging from the room after tending to Kunkun.
“Teacher Leng…” Xi Mengyao said sympathetically, “You can’t take all the blame. I didn’t look after Little Kunkun properly either…”
Kunkun’s temperature was 37.6 (99.7°F), a low-grade fever that didn’t require medicine, but she was still sleeping soundly. After all, she was a child and shouldn’t get too cold…
Leng Yan felt guilty, her voice sounding lower than usual. “Kunkun will sleep in my room tonight. I will take care of her.”
No one objected, but now no one had an appetite for dinner. The Lu brothers returned to their respective rooms. Xi Mengyao went back to her room to get Little Kunkun’s clothes for Leng Yan, and then she returned to her own room.
Leng Yan sat on the bed, held Little Kunkun in her arms, and used a warm, wet towel to wipe her body before changing her clothes.
After finishing all this, Leng Yan looked up and met He Yinshao’s gaze, which was fixed on her. “What is it?”
“Nothing, I just feel like you’re not yourself,” He Yinshao said, slightly testing the waters as he averted his gaze.
“I am who I am, He Yinshao,” Leng Yan affirmed her identity.
Watching Leng Yan settle Little Kunkun before heading into the bathroom for a shower, He Yinshao sat on the floor and reached out to poke Kunkun’s sleeping cheek. The shadow cast by her lowered eyelashes hid the emotions in her eyes.
“I’m done washing up. You can go take a shower now,” Leng Yan said, stepping out in a robe, with steam still surrounding her and her hair tips slightly damp.
“Mhm,” He Yinshao got up and headed toward the bathroom.
After getting into bed, Leng Yan touched the sleeping Little Kunkun’s head. It wasn’t as hot, and she sighed in relief. Thanks to He Yinshao’s help, the anger she felt towards his words from noon had completely subsided. Holding Little Kunkun, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
When He Yinshao came out, wiping his hair, he saw the rhythmic breathing of the two people on the bed, so he gave up the idea of getting the hairdryer.
Thinking of taking this chance to get closer to Leng Yan and see what kind of person she truly was, He Yinshao leaned in close to the bed, bending slightly to look at her sleeping face. Her eyelashes fluttered lightly, and her breathing was soft.
She really looks like a cat…
This was He Yinshao’s thought. As she examined her, her face slowly grew hot. Feeling the warmth in her cheeks, He Yinshao immediately straightened up. She walked clumsily to the other side of the bed, constantly chanting to herself:
“Do not think of improper things.”
“Do not think of improper things.”
…
But the thought wouldn’t go away. He Yinshao looked at the person asleep and quietly cursed, “Seductive spirit.”
